Chapter 20
08:33, 5 January 2017"Alright Blaine! You're ready to be released!" Blaine's Doctor said after looking over his charts.
"Re-really? I can go home?" Blaine stammered.
"Yep! Just take it easy with how much noise you're around, okay? Your ears aren't used to high frequencies anymore, you have to gradually get back into it."
"So I'm clear to go back to work then?" He said, hopefully.
"I wouldn't see why not. Jest remember, take it easy." The doctor said, with a stern look.
"Your father is waiting outside with some clothes for you. Once you get changed you can check out. Now, I want you to come back in a week or 2 so I can check on those ears of yours. Understood?" He asked.
"Understood! Thank you so much!" Blaine said happily.
Blaine's POV~Dad walked in as the doctor left the room, a bag of clothes in his hand.
"Ready to go home?" He asked.
"Yeah, but I actually want to stop by work first. Mind dropping me off? I'll get a ride home from Wes or something." I asked.
"Sure thing. I'll go sign all the release forms while you change." Dad said with a wave, walking back out the door.
I pulled out my phone and shot a quick text to Wes.
Me: hey dude! I'm stopping by work today. Mind giving me a ride home when you're all done?
I felt my phone buzz back as I pulled my shirt over my head.
Wes: Sure thing dude! Can't wait to get you back here! See you soon.
Man, I can't wait to see everyone. I've missed it like crazy. The only thing I'm dreading is trying to explain all this to my boss, and rescheduling with clients. But man, I can't wait to get back into that recording studio.
"Ready?" Dad poked his head into the room.
"Let's go." I smiled.
*40 minutes later*
I walked into the building and looked around at the familiar surrounds. Nothing's changed a bit. Cherie, the receptionist, was sitting at her desk staring at her computer screen. She was so into her work, she didn't even realize I was there.
"So what game are you playing now, Cherie? Bet I could still kick your ass in it." I smirked as she jumped and quickly exited out of her recent tab.
"Damn it, Blaine! I was on my highest level! I'm never gonna get that far again!" She sighed.
"Pay attention to when people walk in this building, or you're never gonna see this pretty face of mine if boss man catches you not doing any work." I said, making a tsk tsk noise, shaking my head back in forth.
"You really are the worst Blaine Anderson. Speaking of pretty faces and not doing their work, where have you been?" She asked.
"I got surgery done. No big deal. Now are you gonna press the button to let me in or am I gonna have to jump over this railing? Come on Cherie. Do your job!" I laughed as she rolled and pressed the button to open the gate.
"Thank you ma'am. Now go beat that high score of yours."
"You are the worst Blaine Anderson. The worst." She laughed, turning back to her computer and opening her game back up. I shook my head.Man it's good to be back.
"Anderson! Is that you?" I turned around to see Dale walking towards me.
"Where the hell have you been Anderson?!" He asked. "Actually, you can tell me later. I need you to help Wes out with some new clients. He said they're a pain in the ass. Before you leave to go home, stop by my office."
"Yes, sir. What room number are they in?" I asked, as he started to walk past me.
"17." He called out, turning the corner.
I walked down the halls until I came to recording studio room 17. I opened the door to see Wes looking defeated as the people in the recording area were arguing back and forth.
"See you've got your hands full." I said, causing Wes to look over to me.
"Oh my god. Blaine. Thank GOD you're here. You need to get these idiots in check. They're uncontrollable. I've been here for 10 hours... We've recorded 1 damn song because all they do is fight." Wes ran his hand over his face. "Can you take care of it?"
"Sure dude. Nothing I love more than yelling at people on my first day back. I shall be back!" I walked through the door to where the band was.
"Guys! STOP YELLING RIGHT NOW!" I yelled, causing my ears to hurt.
"Who the hell're you?" One of the band members asked, standing tall, attempting to size me up.
"Anderson. Blaine Anderson. You know, the person that is head of your album that you would like to produce." I said, matter of factly.
"Oh. Sorry dude. I thought that guy out there was Anderson. Nice to meet you man"
"Hey" the other 4 members said.
"Listen. Either you guys work together and get all your songs recorded within the next 2 hours, or you won't be making an album with us. You've already wasted 10 hours of my partners time today, and you've only gotten one song down. Stop arguing. You guys are a group, you have to come together. Got it? I hear one more negative comment come out of ANY of your 5 mouths, you're done. Okay? Okay. Let's get going." I walked out, seeing Wes sitting happily in his chair.
"I couldn't even get a shut up in there while they were going at it. Bless your soul man, you make the job easier." Wes said, patting me on the shoulder.
"Alright guys, let's run it!" He said into the microphone.
*2 hours later*
"Man, if you didn't come today I'd be here for another 10 hours.. So glad that's over with." Wes said, plopping down on the couch in my office.
"For some reason people tend to listen when you threaten them." I said laughing. Wes hummed in agreement.
"So how's your hearing been? Any trouble?"
"Actually no, it's been great! Except when I yelled earlier, they hurt a bit, but I just have to take it easy for a while. Soon I'll be in tip top shape."
"Tell Dale yet?"
"Ah, nope. I'm suppose to go to his office before I leave tonight. I'll go down there now, when I get back you'll be ready to go??"
"Sounds good to me." Wes said, lying down and shutting his eyes.
"Hey Dale." I said, walking into his office.
"Anderson. So what was this 'family emergency' Wes told me you had to miss a bunch of days for?" He said, crossing his arms.
"There wasn't an actual family emergency.." I said, Dale raised an eyebrow. "I got beat up pretty bad after Panic's concert that night, I ended up in the hospital and the damage to my head caused loss of hearing. I had to take a sign language class and then I ended up getting the surgery to regain it. I was just released from the hospital today."
"Wait, are you even clear to come back to work?? Why didn't you just tell me? I would have understood!"
"Yeah, I'm clear, I just have to be cautious with volume. And I thought it would make the company look bad if their top record dealer was deaf, so I didn't say anything..." I said quietly.
"Oh Blaine. You're something else. Well I don't want you back to work for at least another 3 days. You just got out of the hospital for god sake. Go relax at home, hang out with that boy Wes is telling everyone about."
"Okay, yeah that sounds- wait. What boy Wes is telling everyone about?!" I asked, confused.
"Ummm, Curtis or Chris. Something like that. He had coffee with you guys, i don't know, I wasn't really paying attention when he told me."
"Oh, you mean Kurt." I blushed.
"Yeah. Take these three days and hang out with Kurt." He winked.
"Thanks boss man." I laughed.
"Anything for my best worker. Now get outta here, I have work to do."
"Have a nice night." Dale said.
"You do the same." I exited his office, walking back to mine to wake Wes up.
Oh yeah, 3 days off from work. 3 days to spend with Kurt. What shall we do?...
~A/NOh yeahhhh 1 day in between updates!I'm getting better at updating, I promise!Hope you enjoyed this chapter! I felt like it was long and kind of just like a filler so you learn more about Blaine's job, idk.Anyway,Until Next Time...
