Midnight

Alyssa had jumped fairly recently after that, she smiled as she and the tenth Doctor stood next to a phone booth the Doctor on the phone with Donna. to see some more of an alien planet.

"I said, no." Donna said, over the phone as the Doctor tried to convince her to come join them on the tour.

"Sapphire waterfall. It's a waterfall made of sapphires. This enormous jewel, the size of a glacier reaches the Cliffs of Oblivion, and then shatters into sapphires at the edge. They fall a hundred thousand feet into a crystal ravine." The Doctor said, and

" I bet you say that to all the girls." Donna said,

" Oh, come on. They're boarding now. It's no fun if it's just the two of us. Four hours, that's all it takes."

"No, that's four hours there and four hours back. That's like a school trip. I'd rather go sunbathing." Donna said,

"You be careful, that's Xtonic sunlight." The Doctor said,

"Oh, I'm safe. It says in the brochure this glass is fifteen feet thick." Donna said,

"Come on Doctor, If she doesn't want to come she doesn't want to come, it'll be fun just the two of us. It'll be like a date. " Alyssa said, smiling at the doctor, whose eyes lit up at her as he smiled at her.

"All right, I give up. I'll be back for dinner. We'll try that anti-gravity restaurant. With bibs." The Doctor said, making Alyssa laugh

"That's a date. Well, not a date. Oh, you know what I mean. Oh, get off." Donna said, making Alyssa laugh harder.

"See you later." The Doctor said,

"Oi. And you be careful, all right?" Donna said

"Being careful is boring." Alyssa said

"Nah. Taking a big space truck with a bunch of strangers across a diamond planet called Midnight? What could possibly go wrong?" The Doctor said, before he hung up the phone,

"Doctor you just jinxed us." Alyssa said, as he took her hand and turned back towards the bus.

"Nah." The Doctor said, as he smiled down at her.

The Doctor and Alyssa soon sat down on the bus as the other passengers climbed onboard. As the Hostess handed out different supplies for the trip. She approached the two and immediately started passing two of everything to them.

"That's the headphones for channels one to thirty six. Modem link for 3D vidgames. Complimentary earplugs. Complimentary slippers. Complimentary juice pack and complimentary peanuts. I must warn you some products may contain nuts." the hostess said,

"That'll be the peanuts." The doctor said,

"Enjoy your trip." The Hostess said,

"Oh, I can't wait. Allons- y." The Doctor said,

"I'm sorry?" The Hostess said,

"It's French, for let's go." Alyssa said,

"Fascinating." the Hostess before she went to the next passengers. She handed them to a old man and a young women who sat down behind them, the man leaned over to them

"Hobbes. Professor Winfold Hobbes." he said,

"I'm the Doctor. Hello." The Doctor said shaking his hand before Hobbes turned to Alyssa offering, who shook his hand.

"Alyssa Smith. Hello"

"It's my fourteenth time."

"Our First." Alyssa said,

"And I'm Dee Dee, Dee Dee Blasco." Dee Dee said, "Hello Dee Dee." Alyssa said as Dee Dee shook both of their hands.

"Don't bother them. Where's my water bottle?" Hobbes said and they both sat in there seats. Soon all the other passengers boarded. A married couple and their son, and one older lady.

"Don't be silly. Come and sit with us. Look, we get slippers." the Mother said, to her son who was sitting across the way from them

"Jethro. Do what your mother says." the Father said,

"I'm sitting here." The Son said,

"Oh, he's ashamed of us, but he doesn't mind us paying, does he?" the Father said,

"Oh, don't you two start. Should I save the juice pack or have it now? Look, peach and clementine." the mother said,

"Ladies and gentlemen, and variations thereupon, welcome on board the Crusader Fifty. If you would fasten your seatbelts, we'll be leaving any moment. Doors." The Hostess said, and the doors closed. " Shields down." she said as shields descended upon the windows. "I'm afraid the view is shielded until we reach the Waterfall Palace. Also, a reminder. Midnight has no air, so please don't touch the exterior door seals. Fire exit at the rear, and should we need to use it, you first. Now I will hand you over to Driver Joe."

"Driver Joe at the wheel. There's been a diamondfall at the Winter Witch Canyon, so we'll be taking a slight detour, as you'll see on the map." He said as The doctor put on his glasses as a map appeared on the screens in front of them showing the new route. "The journey covers five hundred klicks to the Multifaceted Coast. Duration is estimated at four hours. Thank you for travelling with us, and as they used to say in the olden days, wagons roll." The Driver Joe said. As the shuttles shifted as they began moving.

"For your entertainment, we have the Music Channel playing retrovids of Earth classics." The Hostess said as screens dropped down and played an old pop music video. "Also, the latest artistic installation from Ludovico Klein." and a light shined on them with some imagery.

"Plus, for the youngsters, a rare treat. The Animation Archives.Four hours of fun time. Enjoy. she said as she pulled down a screen showing Betty Boop. before walking to the back of the shuttle. Alyssa looked at the Doctor as she brought out her sonic pen the same time The doctor did his and activated them turning off the entertainment. Alyssa looked down at the woman sitting across from them and smiled at her as she looked relieved.

"Well, that's a mercy." Hobbes said as the hostess tried turning it back on.

"I do apologise, ladies and gentlemen, and variations thereupon. We seem to had a failure of the Entertainment System." She said "Oh so disappointing." Alyssa said, feining disappointment

"Oh." The Doctor said as well.

"But what do we do?" One of the other passengers said

"We've got four hours of this? Four hours of just sitting here?" The man next to her said.

"Tell you what. We'll have to talk to each other instead." The Doctor said,

"Sounds like a great idea." Alyssa said,

The Idea quickly caught on as Alyssa and the Doctor were listening to the couple tell a story,

"So Biff said, I'm going swimming." Val said,

"Oh, I was all ready. Trunks and everything. Nose plug." Biff said,

"He had this little nose plug. You should have seen him." Val said,

"And I went marching up to the lifeguard. And he was a Shamboni. You know, those big foreheads?" Biff said

"Great big forehead." Val said.

"And I said, where's the pool? And he said"

"The pool is abstract." The two said, as the other started laughing,

"It wasn't a real pool." Val said,

"It was a concept." Biff said,

"And you were wearing a nose plug." the Doctor said,

"I was like this." Biff said pressing his nose together "Ooo, where's the pool?" and everyone started laughing.

The Doctor and Alyssa went to the front with DeeDee for some coffee as she told them about herself.

"I'm just a second-year student, but I wrote a paper on the Lost Moon of Poosh, Professor Hobbes read it, liked it, took me on as researcher, just for the holidays. Well, I say researcher. Most of the time he's got me fetching and carrying. But it's all good experience." Dee Dee said, handing a paper cup with coffee to Alyssa, grabbing amd starting filling it up for the Doctor,

"And did they ever find it?" Doctor said, as Dee Dee handing him the cup.

"Find what?" Dee Dee said,

"The Lost Moon of Poosh." Alyssa said,

"Oh, no. Not yet."

"Well. Maybe that'll be your great discovery, one day." Alyssa said as Deedee filled up her own cup of coffee

"Here's to Poosh." The Doctor said offering a toast to her.

"Poosh." Dee Dee said together with Alyssa and clinged her glass with theirs.

Soon the Hostess handed out meals to the others. The Doctor was sitting by Sky, Alyssa behind them.

"Me and the Doctor saw the flyer and decided why not but it's not just the two of us we have a friend who stayed back at the Lesiure palace."

"No, it's just me." Sky said,

"Oh, I've done plenty of that. Travelling on my own. I love it. Do what you want, go anywhere. Always better to travel with others though" "I'm still getting used to it. I've found myself single rather recently, not by choice."

"What happened?" Alyssa asked,

"Oh, the usual. She needed her own space, as they say. A different galaxy, in fact. I reckon that's enough space, don't you?" Sky said,

"Yeah. I had a friend who went to a different universe."

"Not by choice though." Alyssa said and Sky turned around to look at her confusingly " bit of huge accident." Alyssa said, and Sky nodded before turning back to her meal.

"Oh, what's this, chicken or beef?" Sky asked looking at the meat in their meal.

"I think it's both." The Doctor said,

Sometime later Professor Hobbes had pulled down the screen and started a presentation on Midnight.

"So, this is Midnight, do you see, bombarded by the sun. Xtonic rays, raw galvanic radiation. Dee Dee, next slide. It's my pet project. Actually, I'm the first person to research this. Because, you see, the history is fascinating. Because there is no history. There's no life in this entire system. There couldn't be. Before the Leisure Palace Company moved in, no one had come here in all eternity. No living thing." Professor Hobbes.

"But how do you know? I mean, if no one can go outside."Jethro the son of Biff and Val asked,

"Oh, his imagination. Here we go." Val said

"Don't critique someone for having imagination or questions thats how everyone gets there start and make the greatest discoveries having a question and going beyond to get them." Alyssa said,

"Exactly. We look upon this world through glass, safe inside our metal box. Even the Leisure Palace was lowered down from orbit. And here we are now, crossing Midnight, but never touching it." Professor Hobbes said, as there was a sound that came from the shuttle and it had felt like they had stopped moving.

"We've stopped. Have we stopped?" Val asked,

"Are we there?" Biff asked,

"We can't be, it's too soon." Dee Dee said,

"They don't stop. Crusader vehicles never stop." Professor Hobbes said,

"Unless something could cause them to stop." Alyssa said, as the Hostess came up,

"If you could just return to your seats. It's just a small delay." The Hostess said, before walking back to the intercom phone.

"Maybe just a pit stop." Biff said,

"There's no pit to stop in. I've been on this expedition fourteen times. They never stop." Hobbes said,

"Well, evidently we have stopped, so there's no point in denying it." Sky said,

"We've broken down." Jethro said,

" Thanks, Jethro." Val said

" In the middle of nowhere." Jethro said,

"that's enough. Now stop it." Biff said,

"Ladies and gentlemen, and variations thereupon. We're just experiencing a short delay. The driver needs to stabilise the engine feeds. It's perfectly routine, so if you could just stay in your seats." The Hostess said, but The Doctor and Alyssa who were more curious about what was going on as they walked forward.

"No, I'm sorry, sir,Ma'am I. Could you please?" The Hostess said, and the Doctor flashed his Psychic paper at her.

"There you go. Engine expert. Two ticks." The Doctor said, as Alyssa opened the door.

"I'm sorry, sir, Ma'am. if you could just sit down. You're not supposed to be in there." but they still walked in, the door closing behind them. There were two men sitting in the cockpit.

"Sorry. If you could return to your seat, sir." Joe said,

"Company insurance. Let's see if we can get an early assessment. So, what's the problem, Driver Joe?" The Doctor asked, as Alyssa looked over the readings from the shuttle.

"We're stabilising the engine feeds. Won't take long." Joe said, "Im sorry but no, because that's the engine feed," Alyssa said pointing at the line. "And it's fine. Am i correct in saying that it's a micropetrol engine, and if im correct then stabilising doesn't really make sense. So something else must be wrong." Alyssa said, 

"Im sorry, Im the Doctor this is my Alyssa were both clever." the Doctor said,

"We just stopped. Look, all systems fine, everything's working, but we're not moving." the man with Joe said, as Alyssa got out her Sonic pen and scanned the system.

"Yeah, you're right. No faults." Alyssa said, as the Doctor looked at the man next to him

"And who are you?" The Doctor asked,

"Claude. I'm the mechanic. Trainee." Claude said,

"Nice to meet you." Alyssa said,

"I've sent a distress signal. They should dispatch a rescue truck, top speed." Joe said,

"How long till they get here?" The Doctor asked,

"About an hour." Joe said,

"Well, since we're waiting, shall we take a look outside? Just lift the screens a bit?" The Doctor said,

"It's a hundred percent Xtonic out there. We'd be vaporised." Joe said,

"Nah. Those windows are Finitoglass. They'd give you a couple of minutes." The Doctor said, but the two were still hesitant about it"Come on, live a little" Alyssa said,

"Well." Joe said as he pressed the button to raise the shield and a view of shimmering towers appeared.

"Oh wow beautiful Alyssa said,

"Wow." Joe said,

"Oh, that is beautiful." The Doctor said,

"Look at all those diamonds. Poisoned by the sun. No-one can ever touch them." Joe said,

"Joe, you said we took a detour?" The Doctor said,

"Just about forty klicks to the west." Joe said,

"Is that a recognised path?" Alyssa asked,

"No, it's a new one. The computer worked it out on automatic."

"So we're the first. This piece of ground. No one's ever been here before. Not in the whole of recorded history." the Doctor said,

"Did you just? No, sorry, it's nothing." Claude as he lleaned forward as if he saw something and almost pointed

"What did you see?" Alyssa said, looking in the direction he was looking.

"Just there. That ridge. Like, like a shadow. Just, just for a second." Claude said,

"What sort of shadow?" The Doctor said, before an alarm started beeping,

"Xtonic rising. Shields down." Joe said, before bringing down the shields,

"Look, look. There it is, there it is. Look, there." Claude said, and both the Doctor and Alyssa looked to where he was pointing but he kept missing it.

"Where? What was it?" The Doctor asked, as the shields closed,

"Like just something shifting. Something sort of dark, like it was running." Claude said, and

" Running which way?" Alyssa asked,

"Towards us." Claude,

"Right, Doctor Alyssa, back to your seat. And, er, not a word. Rescue's on its way. If you could close the door. Thank you." Joe said, and the two turned around and left the cockpit.

"What did they say? Did they tell you? What is it? What's wrong?" Sky aksed

"Oh, just stabilising. Happens all the time." Alyssa said,

"I don't need this. I'm on a schedule. This is completely unnecessary." Sky said, as the Hostess approached them

"Back to your seats, thank you." The Hostess said, before she went into the cockpit. The 3 returned to their seats.

"Excuse me, Doctor, Alyssa, but they're micropetrol engines, aren't they?" Dee Dee asked,

"Now, don't bother the man." Hobbes said,

"My father was a mechanic. Micropetrol doesn't stabilise. What does stabilise mean?" Dee Dee asked, looking at Alyssa,

"Well. Bit of flim-flam. Don't worry, they're sorting it out." Alyssa said,

"So it's not the engines?" Hobbes said,

"It's just a little pause, that's all." The Doctor said,

"How much air have we got?" Hobbes said,

"It's fine." Alyssa said,

"What did he say?" Val said, and Alyssa closed her eyes in exasperation

"Nothing." The Doctor said,

"Are we running out of air?" Val asked

"No" Alyssa said, as the Hostess reentered the shuttle.

"I was just speculating." Hobbes said,

"Is that right, miss? Are we running out of air?" Biff asked,

"Is that what the Captain said?" Val asked,

"If you could all just remain calm." The Hostess said,

"How much air have we got?" Val said

"Mum, just stop it." Jethro said,

"I assure you, everything is under control." The Hostess said.

"Well, doesn't look like it to me." Biff said

"Well, he said it." Val said,

"It's fine. The air is on a circular filter." DeeDee said, but the panic had set in as the others started talking over each other. Alyssa ran a hand down her face"QUIET!" Alyssa yelled, and everyone stopped talking and turned to her. "Thank you, now if you would listen to my friend Dee Dee." Alyssa said, and Dee Dee hesitantly stood up.

"Oh. Er, it's just that, well, the air's on a circular filter, so we could stay breathing for ten years."

"There you go. And We've spoken to the Captain. I can guarantee you everything's fine." the Doctor said, before something banged on the shuttle.

"What was that?"

"It must be the metal. We're cooling down. It's just settling." Hobbes said,

"Rocks. It could be rocks falling." Dee Dee said,

"What I want to know is, how long do we have to sit here." Biff asked, as something banged on the other side of the shuttle.

"What is that?" Sky said,

"There's someone out there." Val said

" Now, don't be ridiculous." Professor Hobbes said

"Like I said, it could be rocks." DeeDee said,

"We're out in the open. Nothing could fall against the sides." The hostess said and the ship was banged on two more times.

"Knock, knock." The Doctor said

"Who's there?" Jethro said,

"Is there something out there? Well? Anyone?" Sky said, before the ship was banged on two more times. "What the hell is making that noise?"

" I'm sorry, but the light out there is Xtonic. That means it would destroy any living thing in a split second. It is impossible for someone to be outside." Professor Hobbes said before the ship was banged on two more times.

"Well, what the hell is that, then?" Sky said, as the Doctor and Alyssa went to the wall where it had last banged on.

"Sir, Ma'am you really should get back to your seat." The Hostess said, as the Doctor brought out his Stephoscope on the wall.

"Hello?" The Doctor asked, and it started knocking again but this time it kept knocking moving around the ship.

"It's moving." Jethro said, as it got to the emergency exit

"It's trying the door." Val said,

"There is no it. There's nothing out there. Can't be."

"Well obviously something is out there because something is knocking on the ship. If you don't have anything helpful to say don't say anything at all" Alyssa snapped. As it continued trying the door before it moved to the roof and then down to the main entrance the Doctor and Alyssa moving back towards the center of the

"That's the entrance. Can it get in?"

"No. That door's on two hundred weight hydraulics." DeeDee said,

"Stop it. Don't encourage them." Professor Hobbes said,

"What do you think it is?" Dee dee said, as Biff went forward towards the door.

"Biff, don't." Val said,

"Mister Cane, better not." Alyssa said, as Biff inspected the door.

"Nah, it's cast iron, that door." Biff said, before knocking on the door three times, Getting a answering knock three times.

"Three times. Did you hear that? It did it three times." Val said,

"It answered." Jethro said,

"It did it three times!" Val said, as panic began setting in Alyssa pushed her way through and placed herself between the door and the other passengers.

"All right, all right, all right. Everyone calm down."Alyssa said,

"No, but it answered. It answered. Don't tell me that thing's not alive. It answered him." Sky said, as it thumped 3 mor times on the shuttle.

"I really must insist you get back to your seats." The Hostess said,

"No, don't just stand there telling us the rules. You're the hostess. You're supposed to do something." Sky said, as the Doctor approached Alyssa and looked down at her "Was this one of your episodes?" He said into her mind, and Alyssa wracked her mind for the episode as the Doctor investigated the door. Her eyes widened as she remembered. Her eyes flickered over to the Hostess and Sky.

"Yes." she answered

"On a scale of 10 how bad?" he asked, and Alyssa eyes flickered to Sky and the Hostess once more

"3" she said, "but Im not certain." the doctor did a slight nod as he knocked on the door 4 times. There was silence for a short while before it did 4 knocks in reply.

"What is it? What the hell's making that noise? She said she'd get me. Stop it. Make it stop. Somebody make it stop. Don't just stand there looking at me. It's not my fault. He started it with his stories." Sky said,"calm down." Alyssa said going to approach her.

"And he made it worse!" Sky said,

"You're not helping." Val said,

"Why didn't you leave it alone? Stop staring at me. Just tell me what the hell it is." Sky said, " please calm down." Alyssa said moving towards her, her hand reached out to her. As the thumping again. In the directio of Sky

"It's coming for me. Oh, it's coming for me. It's coming for me. It's coming for me. It's coming for me." Sky said as she backed up towards the Drivers door before screaming.

"get out of there!" As Alyssa moved forward reaching her hand out to Sky. She was knocked off her feet as there was an explosion and the shuttle rocks from side to side. It soon stopped and she used the chairs to stand up. "Arms, legs, neck, head, nose. I'm fine." the Doctor said, "Ally?" he asked

"Im fine." Alyssa called out as she stood up and moved towards Sky "Everyone else? How are we?" The Doctor said before looking back at the others. "How are we? Everyone all right?" He repeated,

"Earthquake. Must be." Professor Hobbes said,

"But that's impossible. The ground is fixed. It's solid." Dee Dee said,

"We've got torches. Everyone take a torch. They're in the back of the seats." The Hostess said, as everyone grabbed a flashlight. "Doctor." Alyssa said as she leaned besides Sky the Doctor turning his attention to her slightly. As Jethro moved forward towards them,

"Oh, Jethro. Sweetheart, come here." Val said, following him

"Never mind me. what about her" He asked, as they all turned towards her. The front seats were knocked forward,

"What happened to the seats?" Val asked,

"Who did that?" Biff said,

"They've been ripped up." Val said, as the Doctor joined Alyssa by Sky's side. Putting a hand on her back.

"It's all right, it's all right, it's all right. It's over. We're still alive. Look, the wall's still intact. Do you see?" Alyssa said, as she looked at the wall where there was a big indent. As the Hostess went to contact the Driver.

"Joe? Claude?" The Hostess said,

"We're safe." The Doctor said,

"Driver Joe, can you hear me?" The Hostess said, before slamming the intercom down as she went towards the cockpit door. "I'm not getting any response. The intercom must be down." She said as she pressed the button to open the door. Only for bright light to feel the shuttle Alyssa reeled back into the Doctor who grabbed her arm and shielded her as the Hostess closed the door. The Doctor dropped their arms and went over to the control panel and brought out his Sonic screwdriver. Alyssa joining him by it. Shining her light on the panel.

"What happened? What was that?" Val asked,

"Is it the driver? Have we lost the driver?" Biff asked,

"The cabin's gone." the Hostess said,

"Don't be ridiculous. It can't be gone. How can it be gone?"

"Well, well, you saw it." Dee Dee said,

"There was nothing there, like it was ripped away." the Hostess said,

"What are you doing?" Biff said, shining his torch at the two. "Ah, that's better. Little bit of light. Thank you." Alyssa said, as the Doctor continued.

"Molto Bene" the Doctor added

"Do you know what you're doing?" Val asked, "The cabin's gone. You'd better leave that wall alone." Biff said,

"The cabin can't be gone.""Hobbes you remember what I said about not saying anything if you can't say anything helpful? This is that moment. It's safe, any rupture would automatically seal itself." Alyssa said, as the Doctor moved to help her. As they removed the panel and looked at the wires. "something sliced it off. You're right, the cabin's gone." The Doctor said,

"But if it gets separated?" The Hostess said, as the Doctor stood up

"It loses integrity. I'm sorry, they've been reduced to dust. The driver and the mechanic. But they sent a distress signal. Help is on its way. They saved our lives. We are going to get out of here, I promise. We're still alive, and they are going to find us." The Doctor said,

"Doctor, Alyssa, look at her." Jethro said, and their eyes snapped to Sky who still hadn't moved.

"Right. Yes. Sorry. Have we got a medical kit?" The Doctor asked,

"Why won't she turn around?" Jethro asked, as Alyssa moved forward with the Doctor.

"What's her name?" The Doctor asked

"Silvestry. Mrs Sky Silvestry." The Hostess said,

"Sky? Can you hear me? Are you all right? Can you move, Sky? Just look at me." The Doctor said,

"That noise from outside. It's stopped." Jethro said

"Well, thank God for that." Val said.

" But what if it's not outside anymore? What if it's inside?" Jethro said, as the Doctor and Alyssa walked towards Sky and kneeled down behind her, by the turned up chairs.

" Inside? Where?" Val asked,

"It was heading for her." Jethro said, as the Doctor said,

"Sky? It's all right, Sky. I just want you to turn around, face me." The Doctor said, and Sky slowly took her hands away from her head and turned around, but she had a blank look on her face. Before glancing at everyone, as Alyssa moved closer to her. And her eyes snapped to hers. Alyssa let out a breath as she stared at her."Sky" Alyssa said,

"Sky?" Sky repeated, as the Doctor joined Alyssa by her. "Are you all right?" The Doctor asked,

"Are you all right?" Sky said,

"Are you hurt?" Alyssa asked, and Sky repeated it back to her.

"You don't have to talk." the Doctor said,

"You don't have to talk." Sky said,

" We're trying to help." Alyssa said,

"My name's the Doctor." The Doctor said,

"My name's the Doctor." Sky said,

"Okay, can you stop?" The Doctor asked, and Sky repeated him "I'd like you to stop."

"I don't think she can." Alyssa said, and Sky repeated her.

"Why's she doing that?" Hobbes said, and Sky's eyes snapped to him

"She's gone mad." Biff said, Sky eyes snapping to him

"Stop it." Val said sky repeating her "I said stop it." Val said

"I think Alyssa's right I don't think she can." Dee Dee said,

"My name's Jethro." Jethro said

"My name's Jethro." Sky said,

"Jethro you're not helping, leave it, just shut up." Alyssa said and Sky repeated her, she closed her eyes and before turning to the Doctor

"Doctor just leave her alone please." She called out to him in his mind he looked at her and saw fear shining through her eyes, true fear more then he saw when they were with the Vashta Nerada in the library.

"You said 3 right?" He said back to her as he leaned in front of Sky, she knew he was trying to calm her, but it wasnt working.

"Please" Alyssa said, as she glanced between Sky and the Hostess, she couldnt think. She was having a really hard time keeping herself calm.

"Why are you repeating?" The Doctor said,

"Doctor please" Alyssa telepathically said to him 

"Why are you repeating?" Sky said.

"Learning for sure Doc please just leave her." Alyssa said into his head, as she knew his curiosity was getting the better of him.

"That's the back up system." The Hostess said, and Alyssa's eyes snapped to Sky, she watched her as she spoke in perfect sync with the others.

"Well, that's a bit better." Biff said as Sky spoke with her

"What about the rescue? How long's it going to take?" Val asked with Sky,

"About sixty minutes, that's all." The Hostess and Sky said

"Then I suggest we all calm down. This panic isn't helping. That poor woman is evidently in a state of Self-induced hysteria. We should leave her alone." Hobbes said,

"Doctor." Alyssa said, right when he noticed it as well, Sky saying it with her.

"I know." he said, as he glanced at Sky as well.

"Doctor, Alyssa now step back. I think you should leave her. Alone" Professor Hobbes said, before he noticed it as well "What's she doing?" Sky speaking in perfect sync of him

"That's not her, is it. That's not Mrs Silvestry any more." Jethro and Sky said, and Val started crying Sky with her

"I don't think so, no. I think the more we talk, the more she learns. Now, I'm all for education, " The Doctor said with Sky, before looking at Alyssa still seeing the fear in her eyes. "but in this case, maybe not. Let's just move back. Come on. Come with me. Everyone, get back. All of you, as far as you can." As he walked over to Alyssa grabbed her hand as he continued and gestured for everyone to move back to the back of the shuttle.

"Doctor, make her stop." Val and Sky said, and the Doctor grabbed her arms.

"Val, come with me. Come to the back. Stop looking at her. Come on, Jethro. You too. Everyone, come on. Fifty minutes, that's all we need. Fifty minutes till the rescue arrives. And she's not exactly strong. Look at her. All she's got is our voices." The Doctor said,

" I don't know. But she's got a body now. It would certainly kill the physical form." Dee Dee said,"We are not killing anyone." Alyssa and Sky said,

"I wouldn't risk the cabin door twice, but we've got that one. All we need to do is grab hold of her and throw her out." The Hostess and Sky said,

"Now, listen, all of you. For all we know that's a brand new life form over there. And if it's come inside to discover us, than what's it found? This little bunch of humans. "Why because she isn't agreeing with you. Hate to break it to you, you are not the smartest in the room!" Alyssa said,

"I think you should be quiet, Dee." Hobbes sadi,

"Well, I'm only saying" Dee Dee said,

"And that's an order! You're making a fool of yourself, pretending you're an expert in mechanics and hydraulics, when I can tell you, you are nothing more than average at best. Now shut up." Hobbes yelled

"You want to talk about being an expert? You keep coming on the same trip over and over again, but the moment something changes you have no idea what you are talking about. Dee Dee is actually willing to learn about the universe and new things while you shove it all in a box where your opinions can be the right ones." Alyssa said, as she looked at Sky who was smiling

"Look at her, she's loving this, she's loving all of you arguing like this, because it means you can be controlled by her"

"That's how he does it." Sky said the Doctor repeating her , "He makes you fight, creeps into your head And whispers Listen. Just listen.that's him, inside." Sky said the Doctor repeating her"Don't listen to her, she's literally proving how right I am!" Alyssa said, and only Dee Dee and the Hostess nodded with her.

"Throw him out." Biff said,

"Get him out of my head." Val said, "You aren't throwing anyone out!" Alyssa said,

"Yeah, we should throw him out." Biff said, "Dont you dare." Alyssa said,

"Don't just talk about it, just. You're useless. Do something." Val said,

"I will. You watch me. I'm going to throw him out." Biff said, as he walked towards him

"Don't you dare." Alyssa said as she raised her arms ready to fight him.

"Yes, Throw him out, Get rid of him. Now." Sky said the Doctor repeating her , as Biff went towards Alyssa who kicked him, he fell backwards as she threw a punch at him. But he ducked and grabbed her hand and threw her into the chairs. Before marching up to the Doctor and grabbing him and started pulling him towards the exit.

"Don't!" Dee Dee said,

"It'll be you two next." Val said, throwing her head to Alyssa who was struggling to get up.

"Don't think we should do this." The Hostess said,

"It was your idea. Professor, help me." BIff said,

"I can't. I'm not." Hobbes said

"What sort of a man are you? Come on." Biff yelled

"Stop it!" Alyssa yelled as she finally got her footing,

"Throw him out." Val yelled, as The Doctor's foot got stuck on one of the stairs. Alyssa stepped out in the aisle moving towards them.

"Come on."

"Just do it. Throw him out." Val said,

"Help. Professor, help me."

"Get him out." Val said, as Hobbes went forward to help Biff,

"Grab hold of him. Not like that. Are you stupid?" Biff yelled as everyone started yelling around them, as Alyssa finally reached them and grabbed the Doctors legs trying to pull him away from Biff and Hobbes.

"Cast him out. Into the sun, and the night." Sky said the Doctor repeating her,

"Come on. Don't just stand there. Do something." Biff said looking at Jethro, who hesitated before moving over and knocking Alyssa away grabbing his feet to move him towards the exit. "NO! Listen to me please, it's not him!" Alyssa said,

"Do it, Do it now, Faster. That's the way." Sky said, the Doctor repeating her,

"Please!" Alyssa yelled, "Don't do this!"

"You can do it." Sky said, the Doctor repeating, "Molto bene, Allons-y!" Sky finished, and Alyssa looked back the Hostess

"Please help me." Alyssa said, as the Hostess looked at Sky,

"That's his voice." the Hostess said,

"The starlight waits." Sky said,

"She's taken his voice." The Hostess said

"The emptiness. The Midnight sky." Sky said, the Doctor repeating her,

"It's her." The Hostess said, and Sky looked at her and the grin on her face finally dropped.

"She's taken his voice!" The Hostess said, as she ran forward towards Sky and grabbed her pressing the button to open the door. Alyssa covered her eyes as she heard the Hostess count to five before the wall collapsed and the two were sucked out and the Door closed once more. The men dropped the Doctor in shock and he fell forward he rolled over "It's gone. It's gone. It's gone, it's gone, it's gone, it's gone. It's gone. It's gone. It's gone, it's gone, it's gone. It's gone, it's gone, it's gone." he whispered before he sat up, leaning against the chair on the floor. Alyssa rushed forward and wrapped her arms around him. Tears ran down her eyes as she buried her head in his chest.

"I said it was her." Val said, and that caused Alyssa to break away for just a second and glare at her."Shut the hell up." she said, and Val reeled back seeing golden flakes dance in her eyes. Before she pushed her head back into the Doctor, who wrapped his arms around her.

They all sat in quiet for 20 minutes before a voice came on the overhead "Repeat. Crusader Fifty rescue vehicle coming alongside in three minutes. Door seals set to automatic. Prepare for boarding. Repeat. Prepare for boarding."

"The hostess. What was her name?" the Doctor asked, and Alyssa who was still laying her head on his chest shook her head, his arm holding her to him.

"I don't know." she said,

When they got off the shuttle back at the Spa. Donna walked towards them and threw her arms around the two. "What do you think it was" Donna asked them, a while later as they sat together,

"No idea." the Doctor said, and Donna looked at Alyssa

"One mystery that even I don't have an answer to." she said, and Donna's shoulders slumped.

"Do you think it's still out there? Well, you'd better tell them. This lot" Donna said, and Alyssa nodded,

"Yeah. They can build a Leisure Palace somewhere else. Let this planet keep on turning round an Xtonic star, in silence." The Doctor said,

"Can't imagine you without a voice." Donna said,

"Molto bene." The Doctor said,

"Molto bene." Donna repeated, and Alyssa shuddered

"No, don't do that. Don't. Don't." The Doctor said,

Later after they had told the owners of the spa about the lifeform they were in the Tardis. Alyssa was sitting in the pilot's sheet writing in her journal and Donna was off elsewhere in the Tardis. "Are you mad at me?" The Doctor said quietly."Mad at you? For being the man I fell in love with? For being curious and fascinated by what essentially was a new life form? No im not mad at you. Im mad at myself," Alyssa said,"Why?"

"I've seen a lot of things since I started jumping and nothing really scares me anymore Daleks, Cybermen weeping angels, they don't scare me. The only thing that I've been truly terrified of was whatever that thing was."

"Why?" "I still don't know what that thing was, it wasn't explained even in the show, and back on that shuttle I really couldn't think because I had no clue what the creature was... and No idea on how to stop it I was running through so many things in my head but nothing would've worked. And the show while showed me the events kept mystery around it. It's the first time my foreknowledge was no help at all, I was no help at all. And I almost lost you because of it." Alyssa said,

"You didn't lose me." the Doctor said,

"I know," Alyssa said smiling at the Doctor

"Up for our next trip?" The Doctor said,

"Anywhere in specific?" She asked

"Well theres this market I've been wanting to take you too for a while. And it appears that we have some time. So what do you think?"

"I'd love it." Alyssa said and the Doctor pressed a kiss to her lips before he danced around the Console piloting it away from Midnight.
