School Reunion

08:22, 20 February 2022

Alyssa sat behind a desk typing at a computer as she watched kids study. Alyssa had jumped to a past version of the Tenth Doctor, and soon they went undercover at a school. She was currently looking at a list of checked out books. not many fictional books were being checked out and when they were they were checked out by a kid called Kenny.  All the other books were from either the Math or science section. she frowned as she looked up at the kids. It was silent, a little bit too silent for a school library. “it's weird though, Only one kid out of the whole school is checking out fictional books.” She whispered to the Doctor as he was behind her getting some food. she watched as Rose put some food on the Doctor’s tray and then hers. Alyssa smiled at Rose but she only got a glare right back. “I didn’t ask earlier are you kidding me with the cover you gave me? I don’t mind the library it's peaceful actually finished a book I was reading but your wife?” She said after they had sat down to eat the food. “I thought you wouldn’t mind.” The Doctor muttered, taken a bit back, “I don’t mind.” Alyssa clarified, before she continued,   It just appears to be a recurring factor…” “Recurring factor?” the Doctor questioned “I shouldn’t have said anything.” Alyssa muttered as she picked up a chip and pressed it into her mouth,  before she frowned in disgust. “Oh that's horrid.” she said, “you can’t just brush that off Alyssa, what do you mean recurring factor.” The Doctor said, as he to tasted the chip just to thrown as he thought it was bad too. “yes I can just brush it off Doctor a future version of you did it to me. even kissed me to shut me up.” Alyssa muttered, before she slapped her hand over her mouth “Kissed you to interrupt you?” The Doctor said leaning forward, “what else has this future version of myself do?” he asked causing Alyssa to lean forward too, “You slapped me,” Alyssa muttered, “Oh why did I do that?” the Doctor asked, “I don’t know I think I was going into shock, I haven’t gotten on you for that,” She muttered, “but spoilers, now back to what I was saying earlier, I looked at a log of books that are checked out, the math section is almost nearly checked out… the Science is checked completely out… again only one kid out of the whole school is checking out fiction books. and it's weird how quiet is in there..” She was about to continue before she felt the Doctor press his lips to hers, interrupting her. she pulled back from him “That is not fair,” Alyssa muttered “I just told you, a future version of you did it to me…” “you were rambling, Ally.” he said, smiling at her, keeping a mental note of it for later on. “it was cute though.” trying to salvage it, causing her to blush, before shaking her head “maybe I was, doesn’t change that it's rude.” Alyssa said, the Doctor opened his mouth to retort, only for a wet rag to get slammed on the table. “Two days.” Rose said, “Sorry, could you just? There's a bit of gravy. The Doctor started teasing, pointing out some gravy on the table. “No, no, just, just there.” “Two days, we've been here.” Rose said, wiping the table, “Blame your boyfriend. He's the one who put us onto this. And he was right. Boy in class this morning, got a knowledge way beyond planet Earth. Even Alyssa is noticing something weird in the library.” “You eating those chips?” Rose said, looking at the chips that were on both of the plates. “Yeah, they're a bit different.” The Doctor said, as Rose picked one up and popped it in her mouth. “I think they are horrid.” “I think they're gorgeous. Wish I had school dinners like this.” Rose said, as she passed the two and sat at the head of the table. “It's very well behaved, this place.” “Like I was saying, this place is weird.  before you interrupted me.” Alyssa muttered shooting a glare at the Doctor. As Rose made a noise of acknowledgement. “ I thought there'd be happy slapping hoodies. Happy slapping hoodies with ASBOs. Happy slapping hoodies with ASBOs and ringtones. Huh? Huh? Oh, yeah. Don't tell me I don't fit in.” The Doctor said, “and im the one who gets interrupted when I’m rambling.” Alyssa muttered smirking at the Doctor. Rose smiling at the two. “You are not permitted to leave your station during a sitting.” A Dinner lady said staring at Rose, as she stood up. “I was just talking to this teacher and his wife.” Rose said, “Hello.” The Doctor said, and Alyssa waved her hand at the dinner lady. “They don’t like the chips.” Rose said, “The menu has been specifically designed by the headmaster to improve concentration and performance. Now, get back to work.” the “Wouldn’t they need some sory of brain food to increase brain function not something unhealthy like chips?” Alyssa whispered, both of them frowning. “See? This is me. Dinner lady.” “I'll have the crumble.” The Doctor said, “Stop being rude to her!” Alyssa said, “I'm so going to kill you.” Rose said, as she walked away, they watched another teacher walk into the cafeteria and up to the table in front of them. “Melissa. You'll be joining my class for the next period. Milo's failed me, so it's time we moved you up to the top class.” the teacher said to the female, before turning to a kid with tupperware box “Kenny, not eating the chips?” “I'm not allowed.” Kenny said, “Luke. Extra class. Now.” the teacher said, before he turned Luke and Melissa following after “Why would a teacher care about what a kid is eating, especially chips?” Alyssa muttered, “I don’t know.” The Doctor said. “Yesterday, I had a twelve year old girl give me the exact height of the Walls of Troy in cubits.” A teacher they were talking to about the students in the teacher lounge. “And, it's ever since the new headmaster arrived?” “Finch arrived three months ago. Next day, half the staff got flu. Finch replaced them with that lot, except for the teacher you replaced, and that was just plain weird, her winning the lottery like that.” the teacher said looking at the Doctor. “Why is that weird?” Alyssa said, “She never played. Said the ticket was posted through her door at midnight.” the teacher said, “Hmm The world is very strange.” The Doctor said, “Excuse me, colleagues.” The headmaster said, and everyone turned to him. The Doctor’s eyes freezing on the woman beside him, “A moment of your time. May I introduce Miss Sarah Jane Smith. Miss Smith is a journalist who's writing a profile about me for the Sunday Times. I thought it might be useful for her to get a view from the trenches, so to speak. Don't spare my blushes.” he finished before the headmaster turned and left. Sarah looked around before her eyes fell on the Doctor and Alyssa. “Hello.” Sarah said walking up to the two, “Oh, I should think so.” The Doctor said, smiling at her, “And, you are?” Sarah asked, “Hm? Er, Smith. John Smith.” The Doctor said, “John Smith. I used to have a friend who sometimes went by that name.” Sarah said, “Well, it's a very common name.” The Doctor said, “he was a very uncommon man.” Sarah said, before turning to Alyssa “An you are?”  “Alyssa Smith, Im his wife.” Alyssa said, taking the Doctor’s hand “Nice to meet you.” Sarah said, “Likewise” Alyssa said, “Nice to meet you. Yes, very nice. More than nice. Brilliant.” The Doctor said, “Er, so, er, have you worked here long?” Sarah said, “No. Er, it's only our second day.” The Doctor said, “Oh, you're new, then. So, what do you think of the school? I mean, this new curriculum? So many children getting ill. Doesn't that strike you as odd?” “You don't sound like someone just doing a profile.” Alyssa said, “Well, no harm in a little investigation while I'm here.” “Of course no harm at all.” Alyssa said, “Good for you.” The Doctor said, before Sarah turned around and walked away, “Good for you. Oh, good for you, Sarah Jane Smith.” The Doctor muttered, “Are you surprised?” Alyssa said, and the Doctor blinked and looked down at her. “you knew?” The Doctor asked, “Yes, I wanted you to be surprised, so I didn’t give you a hint. So are you.” Alyssa said, before he threw his head back and laughed before taking his hand from hers and threw his arm around her shoulder and squeezed her closer to his side, making Alyssa smile.     Mickey, Rose, Alyssa and the Doctor all went back to the school during the night in order to do some investiaging. “Oh, it's weird seeing school at night. It just feels wrong. When I was a kid, I used to think all the teachers slept in school.” Rose said, “I think that was a common belief for many kids Rose. ” Alyssa muttered, “All right, team. Oh, I hate people who say team. Er, gang. Er, comrades. Anyway, Rose, go to the kitchen. Get a sample of that oil. Mickey, the new staff are all Maths teachers. Go and check out the Maths department. Me and Alyssa are going to look in Finch's office. Be back here in ten minutes.” The Doctor said, before the two rushed off and up some stairs. They ran into Sarah Jane who was walking back from the room they had parked the Tardis. She turned around and looked at the two of them, “Hello, Sarah Jane.” The Doctor said, “It's you. Oh, Doctor Oh, my God, it's you, isn't it. You've regenerated.” Sarah said, as she walked forward, “Yeah. Half a dozen times since we last met.” The Doctor said, “You look incredible.” Sarah said, “So do you.” the Doctor said, “Huh. I got old. What are you doing here?”  Sarah asked,  “Well, UFO sighting, school gets record results. I couldn't resist. What about you?”  The Doctor said, “The same. I thought you'd died. I waited for you and you didn't come back, and I thought you must have died.” Sarah said, her voice changing into a sad one. “We lived. Everyone else died.” The Doctor said, causing Sarah to look at Alyssa, “You’re a time lady too?” “Yes, hello Sarah Jane Smith.” Alyssa said, wiggingly her fingers at Sarah. “What do you mean Everyone else died?” Sarah asked, looking back at the Doctor. “Everyone died, Sarah.” The Doctor said, “I can't believe it's you.” Sarah said, before a scream sounded, “Okay, now I can!” Sarah said, at the three turned around to run before Rose ran up to the three, “Did you hear that? Who's she?” Rose said, “Rose, Sarah Jane. Sarah Jane, Rose.” The Doctor said, “Hi. Nice to meet you. You can tell you're getting older. Your assistants are getting younger.” Sarah Jane, “I'm not his assistant.” “No?” Sarah questioned looking between Rose and Alyssa. “get you Tiger.” she finished before the four took off again, “Sorry! Sorry, it was only me. You told me to investigate, so I started looking through some of these cupboards and all of these fell on me.” Mickey said, when they found him a bunch of packed rats were on the floor. The Doctor leaning down, to pick one up. “Oh, my God, they're rats. Dozens of rats. Vacuum packed rats.” Rose said, “And you decided to scream.” The Doctor said, “It took me by surprise!” Mickey defended. “Like a little girl?” The Doctor said, “It was dark! I was covered in rats!” Mickey said, “Nine, maybe ten years old. I'm seeing pigtails, frilly skirt.” The Doctor said, and Alyssa slapped his arm. “Stop being rude to him!” Alyssa said, “Hello, can we focus? Does anyone notice anything strange about this? Rats in school?” Rose said, “Well, obviously they use them in Biology lessons. They dissect them. Or maybe you haven't reached that bit yet. How old are you?” Sarah Jane said, looking at Rose, “Oh don’t you start Sarah.” Alyssa said, and Sarah looked at her about to say something before she didn’t get the chance. “Excuse me, no one dissects rats in school anymore. They haven't done that for years. Where are you from, the dark ages?” Rose said, “Oh please don’t you two start!” Alyssa said again, “Anyway, moving on. Everything started when Mister Finch arrived. We should go and check his office.” The Doctor said, before the group started down a corridor. “I don't mean to be rude or anything, but who exactly are you?” Rose said, “Sarah Jane Smith. I used to travel with the Doctor.” Sarah Jane said, “Oh. Well, he's never mentioned you.” Rose said, “Oh, I must've done. Sarah Jane. Mention her all the time.” the Doctor said, “Hold on. Sorry. Never.” Rose said, “What, not even once? He didn't mention me even once?” Sarah Jane asked, before looking at Alyssa “Well I already knew you before I met you, and shame on you Doctor for not telling Rose about her.” Alyssa muttered, as the group got to the Headmasters office. The Doctor took out his sonic screwdriver, and unlocked the door. “Maybe those rats were food.” The Doctor said, before he opened the door, and Alyssa and the Doctor looked inside before the Doctor looked up. “Food for what?” Rose said, “Rose, you know you used to think all the teachers slept in the school? Well, they do.” the Doctor said, as they all looked up at the ceiling and saw bat-like creature, sleeping upside down. “No way!” Mickey said, before he rushed out of the room. the others following him as he ran completely out of the school. “I am not going back in there. No way.” Mickey said, “Those were teachers.” Rose said, “When Finch arrived, he brought with him seven new teachers, four dinner ladies and a nurse. Thirteen. Thirteen big bat people. Come on.”  The Doctor said, turning back to the school, “Come on? You've got to be kidding!” Mickey said, “The Tardis is in there.” Alyssa said, “I need the Tardis. I've got to analyse that oil from the kitchen.” The Doctor said, “I might be able to help you there. I've got something to show you.” Sarah Jane said, before she lead the group to her car. She opened the back hood of the car and took off a blanket to reveal a metal dog. “K9! Rose Tyler, Mickey Smith, allow me to introduce K9. well, K9 Mark Three to be precise.” The Doctor said, “Why does he look so disco?” Rose asked, “Oi! Listen, in the year five thousand this was cutting edge.” The Doctor said, before he turned to Sarah Jane “What's happened to him?” the Doctor said, “Oh, one day, he just, nothing.” Sarah Jane said, “Well, didn't you try and get him repaired?” The Doctor asked, “Might be hard to do if it comes from the year five thousand.” Alyssa said, “Well, it's not like getting parts for a Mini Metro, Beside, the technology inside him could rewrite human science. I couldn't show him to anyone.” Sarah said, “Ooh, what's the nasty lady done to you, eh?” The Doctor said, as he started petting the dog’s head, “Look, no offence, but could you two just stop petting for a minute? Never mind the tin dog. We're busy.” Rose said,     The group went to a fast food shop as Alyssa and the Doctor worked on K9. “You see, what's impressive is that it's been nearly an hour since we met her and I still haven't said I told you so.” Mickey said, as he and Rose got some the foodo“I'm not listening to this.” Rose said, “Although, I have prepared a little, I was right dance that I can show you later.” Mickey said, as Rose handed the cashier the money for the chips. “All this time you've been giving it, he's different, when the truth is, he's just like any other bloke.” “I don’t have a crush on him! Mickey he is like a brother! So I really don’t know what you are talking about” Rose said, “Maybe not. But if I were you I'd go easy on the chips.” Mickey said, “I thought of you on Christmas Day. This Christmas just gone? Great big spaceship overhead. I thought, oh yeah, bet he's up there.” Sarah Jane“Right on top of it, yeah.” “And Alyssa, Rose?“They were there too.” The Doctor muttered, “No surprise about Alyssa, she’s your wife.” Sarah muttered, “Oh we’re not married.” Alyssa said, “that was a cover,” causing Sarah to nod. “Did I do something wrong, because you never came back for me. You just dumped me.” Sarah said, turning back to the Doctor. “I told you. I was called back home and in those days humans weren't allowed.” The Doctor said, “I waited for you. I missed you.” Sarah said, “Oh, you didn't need me. You were getting on with your life.” The Doctor said, watching as Alyssa turned her attention back to K9. “You were my life. You know what the most difficult thing was? Coping with what happens next, or with what doesn't happen next. You took me to the furthest reaches of the galaxy, you showed me supernovas, intergalactic battles, and then you just dropped me back on Earth. How could anything compare to that?” Sarah said, “All those things you saw, do you want me to apologise for that?” The Doctor said, “No, but we get a taste of that splendour and then we have to go back.” Sarah said, “Look at you, you're investigating. You found that school. You're doing what we always did.” “Adventures to be had even on Earth Sarah Jane Smith.” Alyssa said, “You could have come back.” Sarah said, “I couldn't.” The Doctor muttered, “Why not?” Sarah Jane said, but the Doctor turned back to helping Alyssa with K9. “It wasn't Croydon. Where you dropped me off, that wasn't Croydon.” Sarah said, “Where was it?” The Doctor asked, “Aberdeen.” Sarah said, “Right. That's next to Croydon, isn't it?” The Doctor asked, causing Alyssa to shake her head,“Doctor, dear, you got the flight wrong again.” she said, as she connected two wires. Causing K9 to boot up “Ah ha!” She exclaimed, standing up in front of K9. “Oh, hey. Now we're in business.” The Doctor said, joining her standing up. d  “Master.” K9 said, “He recognises me.” the Doctor said, in pure joy, making Alyssa smile. “Affirmative.” K9 said, “Rose, give us the oil.” Alyssa muttered, and Rose got up and brought over the oil and handed it to the Doctor. “I wouldn't touch it, though. That dinner lady got all scorched.” Rose said, “I'm no dinner lady. And I don't often say that.” The Doctor said, as he smeared some of the oil onto his finger and then K9’s probe. “Here we go. Come on, boy. Here we go.” The Doctor said, “Oil. Ex ex ex extract. Ana ana analysing.” K9 said, “Listen to him, man. That's a voice.” “Now now Mickey don’t be rude.” Alyssa said, “Careful. That's my dog.” Sarah reaffirmed, “Confirmation of analysis. Substance is Krillitane Oil.” K9 said, “They're Krillitanes.” The Doctor said, “Is that bad?” Rose said, “Very. Think of how bad things could possibly be, and add another suitcase full of bad.” the Doctor said, “And what are Krillitanes?” Rose asked, “They're a composite race. Just like your culture is a mixture of traditions from all sorts of countries, people you've invaded or have been invaded by. You've got bits of Viking, bits of France, bits of whatever. The Krillitanes are the same. An amalgam of the races they've conquered. But they take physical aspects as well. They cherry pick the best bits from the people they destroy. That's why I didn't recognise them. The last time I saw Krillitanes, they looked just like us except they had really long necks.” The Doctor said, “What're they doing here?” Rose said, “It's the children. They're doing something to the children.” Alyssa said, “How many of us have there been travelling with you?” Rose asked as she, Alyssa and the Doctor left the food shop. “Does it matter?” The Doctor said, “Yeah, it does, if I'm just the latest in a long line.” Rose said, “As opposed to what?” The Doctor asked, “I thought you and me were family. I obviously got it wrong. I've been to the year five billion, right, but this? Now this is really seeing the future. You just leave us behind. Is that what you're going to do to me to Alyssa if she ever stops jumping?” “No. Not to you. Never Alyssa.” The Doctor admitted, “But Sarah Jane? You were that close to her once, and now you never even mention her. Why not?” Rose said, “I don't age. I regenerate. But humans decay. You wither and you die. Imagine watching that happen to someone who you see as a sister. You can spend the rest of your life with me and Alyssa,  but we can't spend the rest of ours with you. We have to live on. Alone. That's the curse of the Time Lords.” The Doctor said, taking Alyssa’s hand and drawing her closer to his side. “Time Lords.” a voice said, causing the two too look as a Krillitane swooped down at the group, Mickey and Sarah Jane causing them to duck. before the Krillitane to swoop off. “But it didn't even touch you. It just flew off. What did it do that for?” Rose asked, “It might’ve been watching us.” Alyssa said,     The next morning they went back to the school to do more investigating. “Rose and Sarah, you go to the Maths room. Crack open those computers, I need to see the hardware inside. Here, you might need this.” The Doctor said, holding his Sonic Screwdriver out, but handed it to Sarah. “Mickey, surveillance. I want you outside.” “Just stand outside?” Mickey asked, “Here, take these you can keep K9 company.” Sarah said, throwing Mickey her car keys. “Don't forget to leave the window open a crack.” The Doctor said, as the four started walking forward. “But he's metal!” Mickey shouted at the Doctor, “I didn't mean for him.”“What're you two going to do?” Rose asked, “It's time we had a word with Mister Finch.” The Doctor said, as he and Alyssa walked off.     The two looked down at Mr. Finch from the top of some stairs. he looked up at the two before turning away and walking into the pool room. Alyssa and the Doctor following, they found him across the pool. “Who are you?” the Doctor asked, “My name is Brother Lassa. And you?” Lassa said, “Alyssa.” Alyssa said “The Doctor. Since when did Krillitanes have wings?” The Doctor asked, as the three started towards each other, “It's been our form for nearly ten generations now. Our ancestors invaded Bessan. The people there had some rather lovely wings. They made a million widows in one day. Just imagine.” Lassa said, “And now you're shaped human.” Alyssa muttered. “A personal favourite, that's all.” Lassa said. “And the others?” The Doctor said, “My brothers remain bat form. What you see is a simple morphic illusion. Scratch the surface and the true Krillitane lies beneath. And what of the Time Lords? I always thought of you as such a pompous race. Ancient, dusty senators, so frightened of change and chaos. And of course, they're all but extinct. Only you two. The last.” Lassa said, “This plan of yours. What is it?” The Doctor said, “You don't know.” Lassa said, “That's why I'm asking.” The Doctor said, “Well, show me how clever you are. Work it out.” Lassa said, “If we don’t like it, then it will stop.” Alyssa said, “Fascinating. Your people were peaceful to the point of indolence. You seem to be something new. Would you declare war on us, Doctor? Alyssa?” Lassa said, as he finally met the two. “I'm so old now. I used to have so much mercy. You get one warning. That was it.” The Doctor said, “But we're not even enemies. Soon you will embrace us. The next time we meet, you will join with me. I promise you.” “Yeah that’s never going to happen, you are doing something to children that’s where even the Golden Angel draws a line.” Alyssa muttered, following Lassa as he walked past them. Lassa turned around and looked at Alyssa in shock before he shook his head and walked off.  The two watched him leave before they went and joined Rose and Sarah Jane in the Math lab. “How's it going?” The Doctor asked, as the two entered, as the two females were laughing. “What? Listen, I need to find out what's programmed inside these.” the Doctor tarted only to stop when the two woman started laughing harder. “What? Stop it!” “Glad you two are finally getting along.” Alyssa said, smirking at the two, before walking forward and taking out her sonic pen. Leaning down to look at the wires, before she started pulling wires out and a system box. before she started using the Sonic pen, but to no avail. “I can't shift it.” She muttered, “I thought the sonic screwdriver could open anything!” “Not a sonic screwdriver, Sonic pen, it can anything expect a deadlock seal, What're they teaching those kids?” Alyssa said, before the Doctor started trying to help her het in the system, before a green screen turned on and switched symbols as a wall of text scrolled. “You wanted the programme? There it is.” Sarah Jane said, before he turned to the others. and looked at the screen closer, “Some sort of code.” The Doctor said, as Alyssa stared up at it “Isn’t that?” Alyssa started, knowing exactly what it was. “No. No, that can't be.” the Doctor said, “The Skasis Paradigm. They're trying to crack the Skasis Paradigm.” “The Skasis what?” Sarah said, “The God maker. The universal theory. Crack that equation and you've got control of the building blocks of the universe. Time and space and matter, yours to control.” the Doctor said, “What, and the kids are like a giant computer?” Rose said, “Yes. And their learning power is being accelerated by the oil. That oil from the kitchens, it works as a, as a conducting agent. Makes the kids cleverer.” The Doctor said, “But that oil's on the chips. I've been eating them.” Rose said, “What's fifty nine times thirty five?” Alyssa asked, “Two thousand and sixty five. Oh, my God.” Rose immediatly answered, “But why use children? Can't they use adults?” Sarah asked, “No, it's got to be children. The God maker needs imagination to crack it. They're not just using the children's brains to break the code, they're using their souls.” the Doctor said, right when Finch entered the room. “Let the lesson begin. Think of it, Doctor, Alyssa. With the Paradigm solved, reality becomes clay in our hands. We can shape the universe and improve it.” Lassa said, “oh yeah? The whole of creation with the face of Mister Finch? Call me old fashioned, but I like things as they are.” The Doctor said, “You act like such a radical, and yet all you want to do is preserve the old order? Think of the changes that could be made if this power was used for good.” Lassa said, “What, by someone like you?” Alyssa said, “No, someone like you. The Paradigm gives us power, but you could give us wisdom. The Golden angel, a goddess. or you doctor. Become a God at my side. Imagine what you could do. Think of the civilisations you could save. Perganon, Assinta. Your own people, Doctor, standing tall. The Time Lords reborn.” “Doctor, don't listen to him.” Sarah said, “And you could be with him throughout eternity. Young, fresh, never wither, never age, never die. Their lives are so fleeting. So many goodbyes. How lonely you must be, Doctor. Join us.” Lassa said, “I could save everyone.” The Doctor said, “Yes.” Lassa said, “I could stop the war.” the Doctor said, “No, Doctor, don’t listen to him.” Alyssa said, and the Doctor turned to Alyssa, and put a hand on her cheek. “I can stop you jumping.” he whispered, “No! Not like that, never like that.” Alyssa said, “The universe has to move forward. Pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. Whether it's a world, or a relationship, everything has its time. And everything ends.” Sarah added, as the Doctor continued staring at Alyssa. Before she ripped away from him picking up a chair and threw it at the screen. “Out!” she yelled, as she grabbed the Doctor’s hand and pulled him out of the math lab. the others following, before they ran into Mickey. “What is going on?” Mickey asked, before they started running again because Krillitanes flying at them. before they rushed into the cafeteria. “Are they my teachers?” Kenny asked, as the Krillitanes entered the cafeteria. “Yeah. Sorry.” the Doctor said, “We need the Doctor and Alyssa alive. As for the others? You can feast.” Lassa said, as Alyssa ripped out her gun and started shooting at the Krillitanes. Before a red laser was also fired. As K9 rolled into the room. “K9!” Sarah said, in glee, “Suggest you engage running mode, mistress.” K9 said, “Come on!” The Doctor said, as everyone started running, “K9, hold them back!” “affirmative, master. Maximum defence mode.” K9 said, as the others rushed out of the cafeteria and rushed into the Physics classroom. The Doctor sealing the door behind them “It's the oil. Krillitane life forms can't handle the oil. That's it! They've changed their physiology so often, even their own oil is toxic to them. How much was there in the kitchens?” The Doctor asked, as he remembered what Rose said, “Barrels of it.” Rose said, “Okay, we need to get to the kitchens. Mickey.” The Doctor said, turning to Mickey. “What now, hold the coats?” Mickey asked, as the Krillitanes started attacking the door. “Get all the children unplugged and out of the school. Now then, bats, bats, bats. How do we fight bats?” The Doctor said, before Kenny used his arm to break the glass of a fire alarm and pulled it. setting off the fire alarm allowing the group to run off, as the Krillitanes ducked in pain of the noise. Everyone but Mickey rushing to the kitchen. “Master.” K9 said, as he rejoined the group, “Come on, boy. Good boy.” The Doctor said, K9 rolling after them and into the Kitchen where the Doctor immediatley started working on getting a barrel full of oil “They've been deadlock sealed. Finch must've done that. I can't open them.” The Doctor said, “The vats would not withstand a direct hit from my laser, but my batteries are failing.” K9 said, “Right. Everyone out the back door.” Alyssa said, and everyone rushed out the back doors.  “K9, stay with me.” The Doctor said, noticing as Alyssa stared rolling vats so they were together “You go too.” “No.” “Alyssa please, I’ll be out in a minute!” The Doctor said, looking at her, “I hate you.” She muttered before she turned to leave“No you don’t!” The Doctor called out after her as she rushed out of the room, and outside the school. it took a few minutes before the Doctor rushed out of the back door. Alyssa and Sarah waiting form “Where's K9?” Sarah asked, as the Doctor soniced the back door. “We need to run.” The Doctor said, “Where is he? What have you done!” Sarah asked as the Doctor rushed past her, before he rushed back and grabbed her pulling her with him. Before they rushed to the front of the school. Watching as the school blew up and the students started cheering. “I'm sorry.” the Doctor said, talking about K9 who was in the exploding building. “It's all right. He was just a daft metal dog. It's fine, really.” Sarah said before she burst into tears. The Doctor wrapping his arm around her and pulled him to her, trying to comfort her.     They moved the Tardis from the school to a park, and the Doctor and Alyssa stepped out of the Tardis. “Cup of tea?” the Doctor said before he opened the Tardis and the three stepped inside. “You've redecorated.” Sarah said, looking around the Tardis. “Do you like it?” The Doctor said, “Oh, I, I do. Yeah. I preferred it as it was, but er, yeah. It'll do.” Sarah said, “I love it.” Alyssa and Rose said together. “Hey, you what's forty seven times three hundred and sixty nine?” Sarah asked “No idea. It's gone now. The oil's faded.” Rose said, “But you're still clever. More than a match for him.” Sarah said, “You and me both. Doctor?” Rose said, “Er, we're about to head off, but you could come with us.” “No. I can't do this anymore. Besides, I've got a much bigger adventure ahead. Time I stopped waiting for you and found a life of my own.” Sarah said, watching as Alyssa walked up to her, “Can I come? No, not with you, I mean with you. Because I'm not the tin dog, and I want to see what's out there.” Mickey said, “Oh, go on, Doctor. Sarah Jane Smith, a Mickey Smith. You need a Smith on board.” Sarah said, “Okay then, I could do with a laugh.” the Doctor said, “Rose, is that okay?” Mickey asked looking at Rose, “No, great. Why not?” Rose said,  “Well, I'd better go.” Sarah said, “I’ll walk you out.” Alyssa said, and the two walked out of the Tardis“you are really good for the Doctor.” Sarah said, causing Alyssa to smile. “ but what I don’t understand is the Doctor said, he could stop you jumping.” “yeah,” Alyssa said, scratching the back of her head, “I jump through the Doctor’s timeline I never stay in one place,” “Ah, and you want to stay in one place.” Sarah said “I do, but not if it means him becoming a god to do so, I want to do it our own way.” Alyssa said, looking back up at the Tardis. “you will stop jumping one day, I can feel it.” Sarah said, and Alyssa hugged her “Some day yes. I am so happy I could meet you.” Alyssa said, “Me too, you and the Doctor are a good match better then I was.” Sarah said, “You still have that connection to the Doctor.” Alyssa said, pulling away, “Yeah,” Sarah said, “Well I better go.” Turning to leave only to stop when the Doctor stepped out. “It's daft, but I haven't ever thanked you for that time. And like I said, I wouldn't have missed it for the world.” Sarah said, “Something to tell the grandkids.” the Doctor said, “Oh, I think it'll be someone else's grandkids now.” Sarah said, “Oh it's not to late, not really” Alysa said, “Right. Yes, sorry. I didn't get a chance to ask. You haven't? There hasn't been anyone? You know.” The Doctor asked, “Well, there was this one guy. I travelled with him for a while, but he was a tough act to follow. Goodbye, Doctor.” Sarah said, “Oh, it's not goodbye.” The Doctor said, “Do say it. Please. This time. Say it.” Sarah said, “Goodbye, my Sarah Jane.” the Doctor said, hugging her, and lifting off her feet before he let her go and turned away, holding his hand out to Alyssa “Good bye Sarah Jane Smith.” Alyssa said, before taking the Doctor’s hand and the two walked back into the Tardis. The two piloted the Tardis away leaving one last gift for Sarah Jane Smith.
