Chapter 7

"Naruto I already said I'm fine." He was standing there looking on in regret. Hinata wore a similar look. "This is all because y-you guys d-defended me." you shook your head, sitting up in your bed. When they heard you were in the hospital they rushed to visit you. Naruto hadn't stopped blaming himself as well as Hinata. "Don't worry. The cops caught the guys. No use in fretting over the past." She didn't seem convinced. Naruto let out a breath. You knew how much he was beating himself up. The both of you were practically siblings. Watching you like this could not have been easy. "I'm fine, please don't worry." you begged. He finally looked you in the eye. You gave a weak smile and he returned it. "Alright, she needs rest." Sakura ushered them out and you smiled. You were grateful for the familiar face. She was studying to be a nurse so she took positions at hospitals to help. "Do you need anything (Y/N)-chan?" you shook your head.

"I'm fine." you assure. That;s when you noticed the bag in her hand. She pulled out some workbooks. "Itachi-sensei sent these. He wants you to stay caught up. " you took them gratefully. "Arigatou." with that she left, leaving you to your thoughts. Pieces of your memory were still a bit fuzzy. The one thing you did remember was.."His kiss.." your fingers grazed your lips. Throughout your recovery he came to visit, he always seemed to do it when you were asleep though, you never had the opportunity to confront him about the kiss. You were starting to think it was just a dream. It was so clear though. 

"H-His tongue was in my mouth there's no way that was a dream." you blushed, diving under the sheets. "E-Even if he really did kiss me..why would he. I've caused him nothing but trouble for years. Why would he.." Itachi was smart, attractive not to mention freaking rich apparently. So it didn't make sense. You were a no good troublemaker, basically an orphan. No parents or other relatives to speak of. "Yet he always wants to help." Now that you thought about it, Itachi always seemed to be there when you were in trouble. You lost track of how many lectures you endured just from him. And the deal you made, at first you thought he was just trying to make a fool of you. But now that you thought about it he wasn't really getting anything out of the arrangement. If anyone was going to benefit it was "Me.." your eyes widened in realization. His goal from the beginning was to help you. This entire time. "Damn was I really that stupid!" When he came to visit again you were going to ask. You wanted answers.

"(L/N)-san you have another visitor." you almost leaped out of your bed. You sat up with a grin. When Kakashi walked in you sulked a little. "I-It's you Kakashi-sensei. Sorry I thought it was someone else." your fiddle with the sheets and he placed the flowers that he brought on the table. "How have you been?" you smiled. "I'm okay. Just a little sore but I'll be back in school causing trouble in no time!" you said giving him a thumbs up. Kakashi laughed. "That's good to hear. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll be looking forward to seeing you return."

"Not the only one?" Kakashi nodded. "Itachi-san has been acting quite mopey, so I hope you get well quickly. It's very unlike him." The thought of a mopey Itachi was hard for you to imagine.

Despite that you felt a bit sad, as much as you wanted to confront him, you really just wanted to say thank you. From what the nurse told you if he didn't find you, there might not have been a you left to save. Itachi saved your life. You wanted...no you needed to thank him.

"He cares about you dearly." your eyes lifted at Kakashi's statement. "I can tell. The way he treats you is very different to the other students. " your eyes widened. You didn't want Itacho to get in trouble. "N-No it's not what you think we've never-" Kakashi shook his head with a smile. "There's no need to panic, I'll keep this between us. I have no intention of getting between the both of you. It would be foolish of anyone to try. It's easy to see how he feels about you. " your mouth closed, unsure of what to say. "Well, I should be going. Get well soon." Kakashi waved, walking off. Leaving you to your own thoughts. All the signs were there yet you didn't want to believe it. Itachi and you were polar opposites. Even if what Kakashi said was true why the hell did it feel like he was avoiding you. It didn't make sense. "If that's the truth why can't he just tell me to my face. Is he that much of a coward."

"I assure you that isn't the case." you flinched at the voice. There he was standing right in front of you. "S-Sensei..." he stepped into your room, his face looked unreadable.

"Hello (L/N)-san."
