Chapter 18

- Chapter 18 -

After staying for another day in Paris, they go back to California.

Ross stops the car in front of Laura's house and sighs. He gives her a long look before speaking.

Laura takes a deep breath. "Vanessa is going to kill me."

Ross nods. "No kidding. Are you sure you don't want to just want to stay at my house?"

Laura nods. "I'm going to have to face my sister one way or another. Plus, i have to get changed in some different clothes for Austin & Ally today."

Ross nods. "Good luck and see you at the set." He presses his lips against hers.

They break apart and Laura smiles at him. She opens the door to Ross's car, grabbing her bag and then closes the door.

Laura takes another deep breath as she approaches her front door. She hesitates for a moment, wondering what Vanessa would really do to her.

She turns around to Ross, who was still in his car, waiting for her to go in. She smiles reassuringly to him and gives him a small wave.

He waves back to her and Laura unlocks the front door, opening it.

She steps into the house and closes the door behind her.

Then, out of nowhere, Vanessa comes from the side of her and hugs Laura super tight.

Laura staggers at Vanessa's impact. "Whoa. Um... Did i miss something?"

Vanessa lets go of her sister. "I was so worried about you. I'm really sorry!"

"Sorry for what?" Laura asks her, putting her bag down.

"For being such a jerk! I shouldn't have tried to keep you away from Ross. You two are meant to be. I'm happy that you went and made me realize that i shouldn't take things from you just because i was mad at Riker. I'm really sorry, Laura."

Laura smiles and hugs Vanessa. "I'm happy you understand now, Ness. You know i can't live without Ross."

Vanessa pulls back and smiles at her. "So, what is up between you and Ross?"

Laura blushes. "We're back together."

Vanessa smiles. "Good."

"Okay, so, we're going back to the set today and filming where we left off at. Do you want to come?" Laura asks her.

"Sure. I'll apologize to Ross." She says.

Later, they arrive at set.

Vanessa immediately goes to Ross's dressing room.

When she opens the door, she sees R5 there too.

The first person she sees is Riker but she quickly looks away from him as their gazes meet.

Vanessa walks over to Ross. "Hey, Vanessa." Ross says, nervously.

"Hi." She replies. "Listen, I just wanted to say I'm sorry for trying to separate you and Laura. I'm glad you two are back together."

"Thanks," Ross says to her.

She smiles at him before leaving his dressing room.

As she walks out of the room, Riker follows her. "Vanessa, wait."

She turns around. "What?"

"I'm sorry i didn't have faith in us. I was really stressed out with the whole thing and i just went mad. I'm not sure why i said all of those things because I'm not a fortune teller. I actually do have faith in us. And i think it would be nice to get another chance." Riker says.

Vanessa looks into his eyes. She did like him. She did want to get another chance. "Are you stressing now?"

"Not anymore."

Vanessa smiles at him. "Then, we can just see where our fortune will lead."

Riker smiles at her.

"Ross and Laura to the sonic boom set. Ross and Laura to the sonic boom set. Thank you." A voice says, echoing through the halls.

Ross and Rocky come out of the room. Their eyes widen once they see Riker and Vanessa talking.

Rocky nudges Ross. "I guess, you and Laura aren't the only ones getting back together."

Ross nods.

Riker rolls his eyes and looks to Rocky. "I'm pretty sure they only called Ross and Laura, Rocky."

"Yeah, I'm not an idiot. I just wanted to leave because Ratliff and Rydel were starting to get all close." Rocky says, shuddering. "I'm going to hang with Calum for a bit."

Rocky heads to Calum's dressing room as Ross meets Laura on the set. "Heyyy!" He greets.

"What's upp!?" She exclaims, smiling.

"Guess what! Riker and Vanessa are getting back together." Ross says.

"Really? Wow! That's awesome!" Laura says.

The director ends their conversation by walking over to them. "Okay. Are you guys ready?"

"Yup." Ross answers.

"Are you guys back together and comfortable with the whole scene?" The director says, crossing his arms.

"Definitely." Laura answers.

The director smiles, briefly. "Good. Now lets start the scene from the very beginning."

Ross and Laura nod and take their positions. Ross sat down in the practice room playing on the piano and Laura was outside of the practice room.

"Scene 15, take 22." The director says. "And... Action."

Ally walks into the practice room and Austin immediately gets up. "Ally, look, i'm really sorry."

Ally walks over to him. "Um, I'm sorry too." She says. "I guess it was pretty silly to try to help you at the concert tonight. I shouldn't have butted in."

"It's not your fault. I hope you're still not mad at me for embarrassing you. I didn't mean too."

Ally smiles. "Please, Austin. It was actually pretty hilarious. I mean, i totally ruined those curtains!" She laughs.

Austin smiles at her but then his expression fades. "But, then... You told me to get lost and leave you alone. Do you still mean that?"

Ally looks at him, sympathetically. "Austin, i want you to be in my life."

Austin smiles at her. "Ally, you are the best. Are we good?"

Ally opens her arms wide. "We're good."

They hug for a while, Ross rocks them side to side. Laura smiles, because it wasn't in the script but she still enjoyed it.

Then, Austin and Ally pull back, still holding each other in each other's arms. They gaze at each other in surprise, realizing their hug lingered longer than necessary.

They gaze into each others eyes, wondering after two years of being friends, why they took so long to realize that...

Austin started to lean in, close to Ally as she leans in too. Their lips meet and the kiss is disney channel appropriate.

Then, they pull away, surprised. "Why did it take so long for us to realize?" Austin asks.

"Maybe we didn't want to mess up our friendship." Ally replies.

"I think we should go at it again. It's a risk worth taking." Austin says.

Ally nods and they kiss again.

Four years later, they are both 21. Having back to back successful seasons of Austin & Ally.

Ross and Laura haven't had a fight since that day Laura kissed Eric. A few people tried to get between them but their bond was too strong.

They have been together for years and more years to come.

Ross covered Laura's eyes as they both walked. "Come on, Ross. We've been walking for, forever." Laura says, smiling.

"Shh!" Ross tells her. "We're almost here.

After a couple more steps of walking, Ross uncovers her eyes. "Okay, we're here."

Laura opens her eyes and lets out a surprised breath.

They were at the park for their date. The breeze blew the naked trees softly and the sunset created the perfect romantic light.

A bench that they would sit at over looked the lake, that reflected the sun. A tree created a little shade over the bench.

"Oh my god, Ross. This is so amazing." Laura says, smiling.

"I'm glad you like it." He replies and the holds out his hand. "Shall we?"

Laura didn't want to be too original. "Of course." She replied, taking Ross's hand.

They walk over to the bench, hand in hand and sit down next to each other.

Ross puts his arm around Laura as she rests her head on his shoulder.

They talk and eat for a while, having fun, laughing at each other.

Until, Ross stands up.

"What are you doing?" Laura asks him.

Ross smiles as he goes down on one knee. Laura covers her mouth with her hands.

'This can't be happening.' Laura thinks, her heart beating a mile a minute.

Suddenly, flower petals fall from above. Laura feels like she's going to pass out.

"Laura, you told me not to do this again, but i couldn't help myself. I'm in love with you and i'll be in love with you forever. I remember you telling Riker that you wouldn't ever marry me. I want to prove that wrong." Ross says. "Laura, you are my life and i want us to be together forever so... Will you marry me?" He says, then opens the small black box, revealing a pretty diamond ring.

Laura is soo shocked, she couldn't say anything. Finally, she works up the nerve to talk. "No."

Ross stands up. "No!?"

"No!?" A couple people echo from somewhere.

"B-But, i did all of this for you! I thought you liked it!" Ross says.

Laura smiles. "I'm just playing around. Of course i'll marry you."

Ross relaxes and rubs his face with his hands. "God, i hate you. Do not play like that." He says, going over to hug her real tight.

Laura's arms wrap around his neck as Ross's arms hug her waist. "You should have seen your face." Laura laughs.

Ross closes his eyes and sighs. "You stress me out. Oh my god, i can't believe you said no."

Laura laughs. "I love you."

"I love you, too." He replies, squeezing her tighter.

Soon, they break apart and go back to sitting on the bench.

Ross looks to Laura and his eyes go to her neck. "Hey! That's the heart necklace i gave you."

"Ross, its not just a heart."

He laughs remembering that whole conversation. "It's our heart." They say in unison.

Ross leans his head down as Laura tilts her head up, pressing their lips together.

They pull away after a while and Laura makes a hand heart in front of the sun.

Ross takes one of her hands down and replaces it with one of his hands. "I owe Riker, Rydel, Ratliff, Rocky, and Ryland a thank you for doing the flower petals."

"You're welcome!" R5 shouts from up in the tree.

Laura laughs. "We're finally engaged."

"And soon to be married." Ross adds.

"And live together for the rest of our lives." She says.

And they did.

Ross and Laura got married and had two kids. A boy they named Austin and a girl they named Ally.

Yep, everyone saw that coming.

Ratliff and Rydel got married and had one girl they named Ellena.

Riker and Vanessa's relationship turned out great and they got married, with boy twins on the way.

Rocky and Ryland both found their true loves and started their own families.

And basically, everyone lived a happily ever after.

I bet everyone saw that coming too.
