8. Epilogue
12:55, 1 March 2021A/N: Hi y'all.
To conclude this story, I wanted to write an afterlife story but I didn't want to specify what age this will occur. I also hesitated writing about one leaving way earlier than the other, too. So I tried my best to fuzz out those details.
Inspiration from TSVhide's co-authored book "Phantom". This book is beautifully written, full of thrill, suspense and humour (very important to me). I cried reading it as it gave me great comfort and perspective for a series of stuff that happened in my life. I am so grateful I found this book and I strongly recommend it.
I wish to re-emphasise that this is a fictional story which may have been heavily inspired by a very charismatic duo most of us all happen to know and love.

When Eddy came about from wherever he had been, he noticed he was standing upright and he flinched with fear. He quickly leaned forward, curling his spine, knowing that otherwise, he would feel excruciating pain from the wretched illness that had ridden his body.
Then he noticed something strange. He felt no pain.
He straightened up, puzzled.
Immense joy spread through him and he broke into a genuine smile, for the first time in quite a while. How wonderful it was to not feel pain! He slowly puffed out his chest and stood tall in his best posture. He had not been able to do so for at least the last 4, maybe even 5 months.
Standing in good posture reminded Eddy of when was younger, when he stood tall and still, just before letting his violin sing out its first note, or as he let it finish its last of a piece. He suddenly remembered that there were moments in life which were even more joyful than standing straight pain free. Such immense joy he had not felt in years.
Eddy looked around. He looked around..?? He was able to look around!! He felt a new sensation that he could only imagine was vision. It was very fuzzy but he was able to note that he was surrounded by a soft energy he assumed was light. It was very pleasant. He couldn't work out where he was but he felt a sensation of elevation as if he was riding a very smooth escalator.
Then his body suddenly felt still and his newly acquired sense of vision detected an expansion of his surroundings. He felt like he arrived at the top of wherever he was heading to and he sensed that he was in a very large space. It amazed him that he could acquire all this information about his surroundings without having to feel around. He clicked his tongue a couple of times to see if he could gauge the space by echolocation, a technique to determine the location of objects using reflected sound. Eddy had experimented with this technique in his early 20s with some degree of success.

Usually, the sound would bounce back to the sound source, in this case, Eddy, but he couldn't hear any echo returning to his well-trained ears. He must be in a very large, wide space. Or perhaps the place had very good sound insulation like a soundproof practice room.
The place was quiet and peaceful, but Eddy was starting to feel a bit lonely.
He then sensed a new kind of energy nearing him. Eddy didn't feel threatened by it, so he stood still and waited. He wasn't even sure if he could walk or move any other parts of his body yet. As the foreign energy approached him, Eddy felt its presence, but more than anything he felt a gushing sense of affection towards it. It made Eddy shiver with yearning. There was only one being that could make Eddy feel this way.
Brett.
Eddy's first and only love.
Met him in 2nd grade on a school visit.
His best friend for years. His crush for years. His partner in so many aspects of his life for years.
The one that cherished him as much as he did of him so that they could always wear their hearts on their sleeves. They spend their lives together being able to touch, sense, feel and see each other with their hearts.
Eddy wasn't sure if he could call out to him but he was willing to give it a try.
"...Brett?"
Then a voice rang in his ears. A voice that Eddy had loved the most in the world, the voice he had missed for so, so long.
"Hey, Eddy."
Eddy reached his hand out and he felt the presence of the person he had been pining for every single day since he was taken away from him.
"Brett....is it really you? ...How's this possible?"
"Um... well Eddy, you're with me now."
"...Oh... I suppose that makes sense."
"Are you okay about that?"
"Yeah... I expected it wouldn't be long till I get to join you. And I don't think that's a bad thing at all."
Eddy felt a warm sensation caress his cheek.
"You do seem calm Eddy, I'm glad."
"It's very relaxing here because I don't feel pain anymore."
"Yeah, it's great, isn't it."
"I think our daughter and grandson will miss me though.
"...We have a grandson?"
"Can't you tell from here?"
"We can't see everything from here.. but I was able to sense a presence of something or someone that gave her immense joy. It also made you smile, too."
"Yes... definitely."
"...I did sense that you were sad a lot though."
"You sensed right, Brett. I've been very sad since you left. I had such a happy life with you, every single day of my life with you I was so happy, so, when you weren't there anymore, I just crashed. I caused so much worry and sadness to our daughter. I'm sorry."
Eddy's voice was shaking.
"No, I'm sorry Eddy, for leaving so early.."
Eddy shook his head.
"It wasn't your fault."
And then Eddy froze as he came to a realisation and he stepped back.
"Oh no...no...! Don't look at me...!"
"Eddy??"
Eddy covered his face with his arms, with clenched fists.
Brett was in shock. He whispered with a tremble in his voice.
"...Why Eddy? I finally get to see you.."
Eddy whispered back.
"I'm so old.. I'm... actually older than you now...I don't want you to see me like this..."
Brett gave out a sigh of relief.
"OMFG Eddy. I waited this many f*cking years to finally see you again and this is the treatment that I get??"
Eddy was still upset.
"I think I can actually see you now Brett... I'm still getting used to this new sensation but I was able to sense what you appeared like without touching your face and you look beautiful.. you haven't changed since the day you left me..And on the other hand, I must look like..."
"Hey..."
That was Eddy's cue to nuzzle into Brett to listen to his voice. How Eddy missed hearing that word. They moved into each other, letting their energies merge.
Eddy heard his favourite voice embrace him.
"Eddy, you're probably not aware of this yet but you're still an aura, like a ball of energy. So am I. We haven't taken any form yet. What I look like to you now, is just from your memories of me."
"So you don't see me as a frail, wrinkly old man? "
Brett let out a little chuckle.
"No, I only have visual memories of you till I left you. But hey, please give me some credit Eddy, I'd adore you whatever way you looked like anyway."
"Sorry.. I'm still kinda messed up."
"It's okay... I can't blame you."
"So.. what happens now.. are we just blobs of energy for eternity..?
Brett chuckled again.
"Auras, spirits.. or blobs of energy.. Yeah I suppose. But we can transcend anywhere, any time we want to and take our form of that time. Re-live any moments."
"But Brett.. how come you're still a blob when you've been here for so long?"
"OMG Eddy, please stop calling me a blob.... Because I've been waiting for your arrival."
"..What ?"
"I wanted to experience this with you, so I've waited."
"Seriously? For all those f*cking years ??"
"That ain't too long when you compare it to eternity."
"Man.. for all this time, you could've visited so many people and places... ?!"
"Sure... but I wanted to do all of that with you."
"OMG... Brett, you're an idiot."
Brett's voice trembles.
"..Well, so are you Eddy, can't you tell that you're not the only person that missed someone so so bad???!"
Eddy felt Brett's sadness on his hand. He shivered.
"OMG I just did. Brett, I'm so sorry."
"It's okay. Eddy, I was told I could do anything here and all I could think about was to wait for you. So I could see you as soon as possible. That's all I wanted to do. And now you are here. You are actually here with me now. I can't believe it. I'm so...so happy, my whole little blob of existence could just burst with joy if I'm not careful. And we can now spend all eternity together... till you get sick of me."
"Brett, I don't think that could ever, ever, ever happen"
"Let's go get started to find out then, hey? So, Eddy, you pick our first time and place. Imagine it clearly in your mind and I'll follow you."
"Okay..."
Eddy opened his eyes. He felt that strange new sensation which allowed him to take in extra information without using his sense of touch. Eddy noticed a boy in front of him. He was about the same height as Eddy which felt so strange because Eddy had been taller than this boy for a very long time. The boy had straight bangs of pitch-black hair and a mischievous and high-spirited smile with gorgeous eyelashes that made him look so out of this worldly adorable.
Eddy wanted to tell him how beautiful this boy appeared to him, but the boy in front of him smiled at Eddy and a higher pitch version of Eddy's favourite voice beat him to it.
"OMG Eddy, I hope you can see yourself now, you are so cute."
Eddy is 8 and Brett is 9.

A/N: This concludes the story I see you with all my heart- a Twoset Fanfic. I hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
Today is a sad day for me because I am actually going to miss writing this story!! Of all the B&E characters I've written, I think this is by far my favourite. (...maybe with the exception of Eddy the fireman of course. If interested, please have a look at my one-shot book ;-)
I think this story was so special for me because of the nature of Eddy's character, I managed to write a lot about their feels and the story became very emo. I also wrote my first NSFW chapter (if what I wrote actually qualifies as one..!)
As always thank you so much for reading my stories and I am also very grateful to those who have placed their votes for any of the chapters. if you have any feedback I would most appreciate it as well. Hope to see you again in another one of my books <3
