16:11, 28 October 2025When the Kris Aquino episode aired the following Sunday evening, it was supposed to be a heartwarming, quiet showcase — a glimpse into Liam Salonga-De Torre's unfiltered sincerity.
Instead, it became an internet phenomenon.
Within an hour of broadcast, social media was flooded with clips — not just of Liam's earnest answers, but of everything that wasn't in the script.
The part where he whispered to Tito Boy that he was shy because Kris was his crush. The way Kris laughed, teasing, "He has taste like his father — because Rafa told me the same thing years ago!" And Rafael's visible groan off-camera, captured perfectly by a cameraman who probably knew exactly what he was doing.
The episode didn't have a live audience, which meant the crew was more relaxed, cameras free to roam for candid angles. And they caught everything.
The result? A viral compilation titled: "THE DE TORRES: A FAMILY OF CONFESSIONS."
Within minutes, #RafaelDeTorre, #TitaKris, and #LiamDeTorre trended simultaneously. But the one that topped them all — #TheRealWinnerIsLea.
It started when a photo of Lea, seated in the background during filming, went viral — her expression halfway between laughter and disbelief as Kris teased her husband. Someone added a crown emoji to her head with the caption:
"Queen Lea watching her husband and son confess to the same woman."
The meme spread like wildfire. Soon, there were edited versions — one with Lea photoshopped on a Game of Thrones throne, another where she was holding a mic with "Winner" stamped across it.
Even celebrities chimed in. Boy Abunda reposted one meme with the caption: "Lea always wins." Kris, of course, responded with, "As she should!"
The internet being what it is, the fandom did what fandoms do best: dig.
It didn't take long before a picture resurfaced — circa Rafael's late 20s. It was from a charity gala co-hosted by TVN, long before he met Lea. The photo showed a younger Rafael in a black tennis shirt, jeans that hugged his frame just right, eyeglasses perched on his nose, posture confident but relaxed. His hair was longer then, tousled just enough to look cinematic.
Standing beside him? Kris Aquino. Smiling. Radiant. Hand on his arm.
Within hours, the photo was everywhere. The caption: "He's been a heartthrob long before becoming a De Torre legend."
Lea's phone was pinging nonstop when she finally looked up from reading messages. "Paeng," she said, holding the phone out, "explain this."
Rafael barely glanced at it before groaning. "Oh, for God's sake. That picture again?"
Lea's brow arched, amusement mixing with mild jealousy. "So... did you two ever date?"
He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Lei, we had one coffee and an interview. That's it. If you call that dating, then yes, we were madly in love over cappuccinos."
Lea laughed despite herself, smacking his shoulder. "Oh, don't be dramatic."
"I married you, didn't I?" he said, smirking. "I think that answers your question."
She rolled her eyes but the corners of her mouth betrayed her — smiling, softening. "You just know how to save yourself, don't you?"
"It's a survival instinct," he quipped, kissing her temple.
Two days later, another viral moment hit the web — this time, from Kris Aquino's vlog.
She appeared on screen, hair tied in a casual bun, in her usual unfiltered charm. "So, I've been reading all your comments about that episode," she said, laughing. "And yes, it's true — Rafael De Torre once had a crush on me. But what I never told you is that I had a crush on him too!"
She paused for dramatic effect. "I mean, who didn't? Did you see that man in his 20s?!"
Fans flooded the chat. The comment section exploded.
Then Kris, grinning mischievously, leaned closer to the camera. "But here's the tea — he never made a move! I waited! But no, Mister De Torre was too decent, too proper. Probably writing spreadsheets of emotions somewhere!"
She burst into laughter, waving a hand. "Lea, don't worry, I'm just being honest! And Liam — oh my gosh, that child! He's my new favorite De Torre, sorry Rafa!"
The vlog ended with her giggling into her drink, saying, "I should've known the crush would run in the family."
That evening, Lea sat on the sofa, tablet in hand, watching Kris's vlog for the fourth time. She didn't even hide her smirk anymore.
"Spreadsheet of emotions?" she read aloud, snickering.
Rafael groaned from across the room. "I'm never living this down, am I?"
"Not in this lifetime," she said sweetly, tapping play again.
From the hallway, Liam appeared holding his iPad. "Mama, Papa, Tita Kris said I'm her favorite!"
Lea smiled. "Yes, sweetheart, she did."
Rafael sighed dramatically. "So the Queen has spoken."
"Two Queens," Lea corrected, rising from the sofa with a grin.
He looked up at her, brow raised. "And who's the second?"
She leaned down, kissed his cheek, and whispered, "Me. Obviously."
Liam giggled. "Mama wins again!"
Rafael threw up his hands. "Even my own son's against me now."
Lea laughed, resting her head on his shoulder. "Welcome to my world, Mr. Spreadsheet of Emotions."
He smirked and pulled her close. "I'd rather be in yours than anywhere else."
That night, as the internet continued to buzz — the memes, the photos, Kris's vlog — Lea turned off her phone and nestled closer to Rafael.
It didn't matter what the world thought. The truth was simple: Their family could turn controversy into charm, tension into laughter, and scandal into something deeply human.
And somewhere out there, Kris Aquino was probably laughing herself to sleep — knowing she had just united an entire nation in collective kilig.
