The interview day arrived faster than anyone expected.

The studio was buzzing, every crew member aware that this was no ordinary taping. Kris Aquino herself was hosting a one-on-one special with the youngest PMPC awardee in recent history — Liam Salonga-De Torre. Boy Abunda was co-producing and moderating from behind the cameras, ensuring the tone stayed warm, genuine, and respectful.

Rafael and Lea were already seated off-camera, both in discreet formal wear, trying to look calm but radiating nervous energy. Lea looked like she could pace a hole through the studio floor; Rafael, as usual, hid his tension behind quiet poise — though the sharp crease in his brow gave him away.

Liam sat in the middle of the set — his legs swinging slightly, his little suit crisp, hair combed neatly. He looked smaller under the lights, almost fragile, but there was a quiet dignity in the way he held himself.

Then Kris entered the room, bright, smiling, with her signature grace and glittering charm.

"OMG, sweetheart!" she said warmly, clapping her hands as she approached him. "You're even cuter in person! My goodness, Lea, Rafael — this child looks like he was carved out of good genes!"

Lea chuckled. "That's your opening line, Kris?"

"Of course! I speak the truth!" Kris winked, then leaned down toward Liam. "Hello, sweetheart. I'm Tita Kris."

Liam blinked, wide-eyed, frozen for a second. Boy noticed the stiffness and walked over, crouching beside him. "What's wrong, Liam?" he whispered, his tone gentle.

Liam leaned close to Boy's ear, his voice barely audible. "I'm shy," he whispered, eyes darting toward Kris.

Boy grinned. "Why are you shy?"

Liam fidgeted. "Because... I'm a fan. And she's my crush."

Boy tried to hold in his laugh — and failed. He let out a loud, delighted chuckle that made both Lea and Kris turn.

"Ay, Diyos ko!" Kris exclaimed, hand over her heart. "What did he say?"

Boy, still laughing, said between breaths, "He said you're his crush."

Kris gasped theatrically, clutching her pearls. "Oh my! He has taste — just like his father!"

Lea smirked immediately, her eyes sliding toward Rafael, who groaned softly and sank a little in his seat.

"Kris," he muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose, "don't you start with that."

"Oh no, don't deny it, Rafa!" Kris teased, laughing now. "You said the exact same thing to me years ago when you did your first sit-down with me — you said you had a crush on me! And now your son—"

"—has inherited his father's impeccable taste," Boy added playfully.

Lea tried not to laugh but failed miserably, a hand flying to her mouth. "Oh my God, Paeng."

Rafael turned to her, exasperated but fighting a grin. "Don't you encourage them, Lei."

Liam blinked innocently, looking between the adults. "Papa, you also had a crush on Tita Kris?"

The studio erupted in laughter. Kris clapped her hands, delighted. "Oh, this boy is priceless! Rafael, he's outing you on national television!"

Rafael sighed, pretending to glare at Boy. "This is a set-up."

Boy smirked. "No, my friend. This is karma — and legacy."

When the cameras finally rolled, Liam had relaxed a little. Kris's warmth and humor melted his shyness away.

"So, Liam," Kris began in her signature tone, "you've made history at such a young age. How does it feel to be the youngest ever winner of the Best Child Performer award?"

Liam adjusted his posture, voice soft but clear. "It feels... nice, po. But it also feels like I have to work harder now."

"Work harder?" Boy asked. "Why is that?"

"Because people think it's because of Mama and Papa," he said simply. "But I want to show them that I can do it too — not because of my family name, but because I love it."

The sincerity in his voice silenced the room. Even Kris looked momentarily taken aback.

"That's... incredibly mature, Liam," she said softly. "You know, not many people your age — or even older — could say that with so much grace."

He smiled shyly. "Mama says grace is strength in quiet clothes."

Lea gasped from her seat, covering her mouth again. Rafael exhaled, pride and awe all over his face.

Boy turned to Kris with a grin. "That's Lea's son, alright."

Kris chuckled, then leaned closer to Liam. "Sweetheart, you've won all our hearts. You know that, right?"

Liam shook his head, bashful. "No po, just maybe yours."

The audience — even the crew — burst into laughter again. Kris dramatically fanned herself. "You see this? The charisma! The wit! Lea, where are you hiding this boy all this time?"

Lea laughed from the sidelines. "At home, Kris. Exactly where he belongs."

The interview wrapped beautifully — half humor, half heart. Liam spoke about school, his friends, how he loved music and wanted to direct someday like his Papa. When asked about family, he said, "Mama sings, Papa leads, Ate Ellie fights for people, and I... I just try to make them all proud."

By the end of it, Kris had tears in her eyes. Boy clapped softly from behind the camera, whispering to the crew, "That's the clip we'll close on."

As they said their goodbyes, Kris bent down to hug Liam. "You're going to go far, sweetheart. But don't rush it, okay? Stay little while you can."

"Yes, Tita Kris," Liam said with a shy grin. "But when I grow up, I'll still like you."

Rafael groaned audibly this time. "He's definitely my son."

Lea was laughing so hard she could barely breathe. "Well, Paeng, looks like the De Torre charm just keeps evolving."

Kris winked at Rafael. "And improving, if I may say so."

Boy laughed one last time. "Oh, this episode's going to be gold."

And it was — the interview trended everywhere when it was aired.

Not because Liam was Lea and Rafael's son. Not because of controversy. But because a seven-year-old boy had reminded the country what grace, humility, and heart truly looked like.
