,,you looked out the window choosing to ignore the chaos on the bus.

people in the back were playing games, they were quite loud too. it didn't really botheryou though, thankfully you thought ahead and brought earbuds.

you turned around when you heard jin ha shout at them to shut up since kyung jun was trying to sleep.

your two friends sat in the row in front of you.jung won was on her computer while yoon seowas staring at the class president, jun hee.

seriously her crush couldn't be more obvious.you rooted for them to be together but shedidn't make a move.

,,you had finally arrived at the location.

you got off the bus following behind yoon seoand jung won.

"hey, have we been here? why do I feel like I have?"yoon seo asked patting you both to get yourattention.

who knows what was up with her...you decided to go into the building after getting your suitcase. on your way in you saw a sign in front of a statue that had a qr code on it.

you quickly scanned it and continued on your way.

you were seated next to the two girls. yoon seowas watching jun hee. you were surprised he hadn't caught on to her crush on him yet.

nothing had really caught your eye, people were just doing whatever they wanted.

some of your classmates were dancing in the center of the gym. when their music cut out,kyung jun has turned it off.

that guy always caused trouble, he was notorious for being a bully. he always had those two guysfollowing him around.

shin seung bin, a boy that had a shaved head which was bleached and kim jin ha, a boywho had slightly curly hair.

your eyes followed kyung jun as he walked away. the girls continued to dance after their music played again.

"hey."jung won called out to yoon seo.

yoon seo let out a small hum acknowledging her.

"stop looking, you're making it obvious."she said.

"I wasn't looking."yoon seo spoke breathily.

"you totally were."you spoke in a teasing tone.

"this really sucks, I can make something likethis in a day."jung won huffed looking at her phone.

"what do you mean?"questioned yoon seo.

you leaned a bit more into jung won trying tosee what she meant.

"didn't you scan the qr code? it was installed automatically."she explained.

"ohh yeah I did that, but I hadn't gone intothe app yet."you spoke up.

the short-haired girl hummed in acknowledgment but yoon seo still seemed a but lost.

"give me your phone. I'll do it for you."she said holding her hand out to yoon seo.

"huh? no, I can just look at this."yoon seo refused while pulling out a paperhandout.

"you want to carry that around for two days?"jung won asked.

she didn't get a response as yoon seo shiftedher focus back to her crush. you decided touse your phone for some type of entertainment.

you turned it on but it had no signal. did theyouth center seriously not have wi-fi? that sucked...

"I'm not getting any signal."muttered jung won.

"me either..."you spoke letting out a sigh.

all three of you looked at each other in confusion.

suddenly there was a loud screech and the powerhad gone out. there were shouts of confusion all over the gym.

"hey! why did you turn the light off?"you heard some shout.

"turn the lights on!"someone else screamed from above.

then a scream of terror was heard followed by confused noises. you fumbled aroundwith your phone and turned on the flash.

as your eyes adjusted to the dark you couldmake out a white figure standing in the middleof the gym.

then one of your classmates decided to throw a basketball at the figure. it let out a pained grunt and fell to the floor, then the lights came back on.

it took off the blanket revealing your classmateheo yool. you let out an annoyed sigh, thisguy was always up to something.

you weren't the only one annoyed as there was other people making their annoyance clear.

"hey listen. listen carefully."he started speaking.

"I heard something here. a female highschool student committed suicide here one. there's something you absolutely can't do, don't lookback after looking in the mirror past midnight.yool started going on.

he put a hand closer to his mouth and continued speaking.

"and don't look even if someone grabs your ankle while you are asleep. if you don't followthese rules...it's a ghost!"he started running towards a group of girls.

he clearly spooked them as they screamed and shouted insults at him. he always played pranks like that.

"let's go to our room now."yoon seo spoke up.

"alright!"you responded cheerfully.

"okay."while jung won responded much more calmly.

the three of you walked away, making yourway back to the room the three of you wouldshare.

,,you had finally finished unpacking everything.

you let out a satisfied sigh in relief. it seemedlike yoon seo and jung won had also finishedunpacking their belongings as well.

the three of you sat down at a little tablethat was in the center of the room.

yoon seo started to read while jung won goton her computer. you decided to use this timeto inspect your appearance.

"I need to take the coding lecture. why isn't it working?"jung won mumbled in annoyance.

"what are you doing? you yelled at me for reading, who studied a during a school trip. stop acting like the top of the class. that's why they call you...what was it? mensa."yoon seo teasingly said.

you let out a small giggle at their conversation.

"mensa is the name of the organization, you're supposed to say 'mensan' for people. how many times did I tell you."jun won corrected her.

you let a small smile for on your face, this wasdefinitely going to be a fun trip.

you heard a ding come from yoon seo's phone.she picked it up while looking confused.

"what's this? I said I don't need this."she said showing her phone to jung won.

"I didn't do it."responded jung won.

yoon seo glanced at you, as if looking for an answer.

"it wasn't me!"you shook your head.

you and jung won grabbed your phones at thesame time. you turned it on, only for it to beon a unrecognizable app.

the screen was black with a small red box in thecenter. the words read...

the mafia game starts now. checkyour occupation now.

an envelope then appeared where the red boxonce was. a mafia game? like the one you werefamiliar with?

you knew the rules to the game obviously, you could be one of four occupations.

you furrowed your brows and clicked on the envelope and it revealed your occupation.

what app was this supposed to be? the one you had downloaded for the trip?

this entire thing confused you.

"what is this? apparently I'm a civilian. how about you two?"yoon seo asked.

"me too."jung won said.

"yeah same."you responded with your eyes still glued on your phone.

a civilian, you were a civilian.

it then took you to a main menu, where it explained the rules in detail.

1.) the participants will be secretly assigned as civilians, a doctor,a police officer, and a mafia.

• the doctor can prevent the execution of a participant of their choice.

• the police officer can find out the occupation of the participant of their choice.

alright you knew those rules already...

2.) starting at 8 a.m to midnight theparticipants will select the mafiamembers through voting.

so voting had a time period, quite a long one at that.

3.) at midnight, the participants withthe most votes will get executed and their occupation will be revealed.

so then you'd be out of the game? these rulesall seemed pretty normal...

4.) after voting ends at midnight all participants except for the mafiamembers will go to sleep.

go to sleep...? how would they make everyone except the mafia go to sleep?

5.) during the night, while participants are asleep by 6 a.m the mafia must execute someone themselves.

this entire this was so odd...you understoodthe basic rules but mafia have to execute whilepeople sleep?

won't they just wake up? or well you don't really get how they'll do that...

6.) when either team civilians or team mafia kill all of the other team and win, its game over.

•civilians, the doctor, and the policeofficer are on the same team.

those rules made sense you supposed. had the youth center plan a fun game for everyone to play?

that was the final notification the app showed.you saw you could even send each other messages. it had a chat room.

which heo yool started using right away, heseemed pretty exited about this.

another message came from eun ha sayingyool was the mafia.

"if you push a name, a vote gets cast."jung won spoke.

"really?"yoon seo asked.

you clicked on heo yool's name, and voted forhim. you didn't really give it much thoughtyou just saw everyone was voting for him and went with the flow.

"by the way, I didn't even sign up. how do they know all of our names?"the long-haired girl spoke confused.

she had a point...did the school give themthat information? you let out a confused hum.

"the internet isn't working either. how are weable to play the game?"jung won pointed out.

now that they brought that up...this was suspicious. you had a bad feeling in your gut as you all locked eyes with each other.

,,you glanced along the room trying to look for any sign of your teacher.

you had all decided to come down to the firstfloor and check it out.

"what? he hasn't come yet?"yoon seo said.

"the teacher left a long time time ago."jung won spoke walking behind the desk.

"nothing could've happened right? what if hegot into an accident?"yoon seo worried.

"I'm sure that the teachers alright...maybe something came up?"you tried to reason.

"jun hee, you don't you know when the teacher is coming back, right?"she asked jun hee who was just coming down the stairs.

"no, I don't know because I can't reach him.are your phones working?"jun hee responded.

"no they aren't. where's the staff here?"yoon seo said.

"I guess they all went with the teacher. noones here."he said.

seriously? they just all up and left a whole groupof kids unattended?

"what? what do we do then? how long do wehave to wait?"jung won questioned.

"you mean they left us here alone?"you spoke nervously.

"there must be a phone on the office. let's check it out."yoon seo suggested.

you all agreed and went along with her to theoffice.

you looked around the office looking for anything.

"it's not working."jun hee said placing back a phone.

"the coffee hasn't been touched. you really didn't see anyone?"yoon seo asked holding a cup of coffee.

"no I didn't."he responded.

as soon yoon seo placed down the cup of coffeea phone had started to ring. you quickly pickedit up and responded.

you all looked at her hoping for someone to respond.

"it cut off..."she said disappointed.

you let out a huff, how could nothing here work.

"call the police, 911, or whatever."suggested jung won.

yoon seo agreed and attempted to call but itonly ended in failure.

then a ding came from everyone's phones. someone was summoning yoon seo to the pool.

"do you know what this is about?"she asked jun hee.

"well the thing is...for the event tomorrow, we're interviewing everyone and asking aboutthe trip."jun hee explained to her.

"why would you interview in this situation?"jung won grumbled.

"let's go."yoon seo said walking away.

you all followed behind her making your waydownstairs.

"joo won! where are you going?"jun hee asked him.

you stood off to the side behind jung won.

"since when have you done stuff like this?you usually don't even talk to her."jung won crossed her arms.

"thank you."yoon seo told somi.

"don't mention it, we should celebrate since we're friends. we brought a present too."somi responded.

they were friends? you had always gotten theimpression somi didn't like yoon seo.

"let's give her a birthday beating!"somi exclaimed.

two guys quickly lifted yoon seo up into the air.

you tried to make your way over to help yoon seo but someone had a tight grip on your arm.

"throw her, throw her! here we go, here we go!"the two guys threatened.

yoon seo screamed at them to stop, that only

made you try to break loose from the grip onyour arm.

"throw her or not?"the guys asked.

"put her down, put her down. she's about to cry."somi instructed them.

they placed yoon seo back onto the ground, whilesomi helped her up.

"we went to far, didn't we?"somi held out her hand.

"happy birthday."somi said before pushing yoon seo into the pool.

"yoon seo!"you quickly pried your arm out and ran towards the edge of the pool.

"are you crazy? how could you push her?"jung won shoved somi.

you worriedly looked into the pool noticing shewas swimming up.

"yoon seo, are you okay?"jung won asked her.

"I-I'm okay."she shakily responded still in the pool.

you and jung won extended your arms out towards her. you heard the others arguing inthe back about jumping in.

you would've jumped in had you been able toswim...thankfully yoon seo could swim.

yoon seo slowly made her way over to yourextended arms when she was pulled back in.

"lee yoon seo."jung won called out.

"yoon seo? yoon seo!"you shouted as you saw her go under.

you really contemplated jumping in after her.if you jumped in though could you really evenhelp her? you knew you couldn't swim but you couldn't just sit here and watch her drown.

you overheard jung won screaming at them todo something, which was fair they were the oneswho pushed her in.

you kept screaming her name when you heard footsteps running in. jun hee had run in andjumped into the pool.

he pulled her up to the surface and then swan over with her.

"hurry, help him. help him, hurry."someone said.

you quickly helped drag yoon seo onto the ground.

she was coughing up some water but she was stillbreathing.

"hurry up and help me."jun hee said lifting up yoon seo.

you helped lift her up while jung won and jun heeheld her from the sides.

you walked quickly behind them to the infirmary.

,,jung won knocked on the door to theinfirmary.

you all stood behind her as she opened the doorand walked in first. you noticed yoon seo wasfinally awake, you felt so relieved.

"apologize to her right now. birthday beating?hey, you went to far with it."jun hee scolded them.

"I'm sorry, we really just wanted to wish youa happy birthday."somi 'apologized'.

"well, it's okay don't cry."yoon seo responded.

she really was to nice, you frowned, had you been in her shoes you wouldn't have forgiven them so easily.

"really? will you forgive us?"somi asked.

jung won looked away annoyed while yoon seoaccepted their apologies.

you all walked out of the game infirmary and meet the other students in a hallway.

"class president what do we do? we can't reach the teacher, and our phones aren't working either."hyun ho explained.

"let's sleep in your rooms for now. I'll go outearly in the morning or something."jun hee instructed.

everyone did as told and made their ways totheir rooms.

"guys! go inside and go to sleep, don't just hangout here!"jun hee shouted.

you saw people start going into their rooms, soyou, yoon seo, and jung won started making yourway to yours.

"kim somi definitely faked her tears."jung won told yoon seo.

"yeah, why'd you even forgive her?"you asked.

"forget it, she said sorry."yoon seo brushed it off.

"she did that because you keep tolerating her."jung won spoke.

"what can i do then?"yoon seo asked.

"not tolerate her!"you answered like it was the most obvious response.

"anyways, I don't like her."jung won said.

you silently nodded your head, you didn't have necessarily dislike anyone, but kim somi you definitely didn't like.

all of a sudden a strange siren rung followed bya announcement.

"the voting ends in one minute."a mysterious feminine voice announced.

various dings were heard throughout the hallwayas everyone went to check their phones, youincluded.

on your screen was a times counting down.

you had almost forgotten about the game witheverything that had happened today.

"did you do it?"yoon seo questioned you both.

"yes."jung won responded.

you let out a hum in agreement.

"who did you vote?"she asked.

"heo yool."jung won and you said simultaneously.

then the same siren rang.

"the voting has ended."the voice said.

"I'm sure everyone voted for him. we knowyou did this."eun ha pointed at heo yool.

"what are you talking about? and why did youguys vote for me?why are you making it soboring?"yool asked annoyed.

his friends just teased him in response.

"heo yool, the one with the most votes, willbe executed."the voice once again spoke.

you guessed heo yool was out then.

he then started groaning in pain and grabbing hishead. some people just laughed and said he wasdoing it for attention like normal.

you thought it was another one of his pranks.

then someone approached him and he knockedaway his hand. heo yool stumbled aroundwhile covering his ears.

now that had started to concern you...the three ofyou slowly approached yool, as did others.

heo yool kept shouting in pain until he stopped.when he rose you noticed his eyes were purewhite.

he bent down to the ground and started smashing his head on it until he bled. peoplestarted to scream in terror while others tried to stop him.

it didn't work as yool shoved them away and keptat it. you were frozen in fear as the pool of bloodgot bigger.

someone then got him to stand up and he stopped, you saw just how much blood he wascovered in.

he then rammed into a painting on the wall breaking the glass on his head, he proceeded todo it again on the other side of the wall.

more shouts were heard as some people fell to the ground.

heo yool was now on the ground surrounded by pieces of glass. he slowly stood up and startedringing down the hallway.

you moved out of the way and pressed yourback against the wall. you heard the sound of glass breaking.

yool had jumped out of the window.

yoon seo made her way to the window yool had jumped out of. you and jung won walkedslowly behind her.

then the sound of the sirens again.

"heo yool was a civilian."it said.

everyone let out various noises of confusion andterror.

then you heard a melody start playing, people fell to the ground, you as well.

you hit the ground with a thud and closed youreyes.
