Free Falling
20:23, 21 February 2016Chapter 1- Free Falling
The sound of the metal door opening caused the blonde's regular routine to stop. Her firey blue eyes looked over at the guards which she then looked at the wall, two weeks, she thought sighing. "Prisoner 2-2-4 stand against the wall," a guard demanded she looked over at a familiar guard raising an eyebrow
"What's going on," the guards stepped closer, she stepped back till she no longer could her back pressing against the wall. "No, no I've got two weeks," she said grabbing something on her night stand. "I've got two weeks!" She shouted out as she threw the clock at him then kicked one guard and hit the other pushing past the guard she was highly familiar with, in the good way. He jogged after her as she was straggling to find her feet while she was pushing through everyone. She had made a hard left pushing other guards and other delquint's up against the wall. She had realized she wasn't the only one that was being pulled out early. He followed close behind before she was cut off by other guards.
"Cora, calm down," the guard shushed her as the guards pushed her more towards him.
"Alex, what's going on? I have two weeks it's not my time it's not half of the people's time out here," She questioned as she resisted slightly as the guards grabbed her arms. She could hear another girl screaming about the ark dying, something about running out of oxygen.
Alex nodded his head agreeing, "You'll understand soon," he said walking closer to her before injecting a needle into her neck. She felt drowsiness consume her as she relied on the guards to hold her up. "Be careful Cora everything you know is about to change," and with that last thought on her mind she was out cold.
-
Cora awoke rubbing her eyes inhaling a large amount of air through her nose. After opening her eyes she looked left and right seeing many of the teenagers once locked up now strapped to seats, her wrist now had a new addition to it as she examined the metal wristband. She tried to pry off with her other hand a couple times before giving up. She sighed then looked to the people next to her.
A dirty blonde not much older than 12 at most 13, she was asleep almost peaceful looking. Her eyes danced around the room until they landed on the man next to her, his skin was a bit darker than hers, his hair was sleeked back looking professional, she then examined his clothes, it was a guards uniform. That explained why he looked older than the rest of them, but it still didn't explain why he was on the drop ship. "Either you wanted to die or there's a guard back on the Ark nude," she said bluntly snapping his attention, "and the Ark wouldn't be stupid enough to send a guard to wherever we're being dropped so who are you?"
He looked down at his attire then at hers' as he nodded pressing his lips together forming a small smile, "That's one hell of a deduction there Scout," his words were easy going not seemingly worried at all. "You're right I'm not a guard," he nodded then stuck out his hand, "Bellamy." The name was familiar, she'd heard it before but wasn't sure from where.
She responded it by gripping it firmly then continued to talk, "But you're not someone whose supposed to be here, you're like a thousand years older than the majority of us here." Her lips tugged at a small smile as she over exaggerated his age.
Bellamy had slightly jolted his head back faking a expression of hurt before smiling once more, "You must have been locked up a long time how many questions you ask Scout."
She shook her head slightly, "Don't call me that, I'm Cora." Cora raised her voice slightly as the noised of the ship increased. There was a sudden jolt as she gripped the restraints on her body. She looked over at the little girl she was still fast asleep.
"What afraid of a little, turbulence?" he asked as he paused thinking of the correct word, the comment caused a small glare to appear in her eyes.
"Eh- I'm not much of a-" she paused as the drop ship jolted some more, "a flyer," she finished closing her eyes inhaling through her nose and exhaling through her mouth. The short term anger ended quickly as she tried to calm herself.
"No worries, the equipment is only about 100 years old," her body tensed some more as he paused, "just give it a minute to kick in. We'll be on Earth in no time." Bellamy grinned cheekily looking at the uneasy girl, her only response was that she elbowed him on his side. He looked at her like she was crazy but settled as he pressed his lips together holding back a laugh. She continued to grip the restraints until they'd hit the ground. Earth, the thought had finally hit her when she undid the belt she was one of the first to drop ship door along with Bellamy.
Everyone was excited after bashing on Jaha and well being on Earth. Bellamy was towards the front of the crowd a couple feet away from Cora, trying to keep everyone away from crowding the door. A blonde came down the ladder complaining about how the air could be toxic, she had an obnoxiously large amount of leadership in her and Cora took note on it. She was pretty, typical pretty blonde with blue eyes but she had a fierce look to herself that brought out these stern facial features. She seemed familiar too, but she couldn't put a name to her face. It took her a moment before she realized she was the girl who called out saying the ark was dying, but something else kept tugging at her skin.
All the commotion of the air had been interrupted by the sound of a small voice but loud with pride, "Bellamy?" The girl had smaller frame but she was filled with hope as she walked, more like pushed, her way to the front. She looked much like Bellamy when it came to facial features and skin tone. It'd finally clicked in her mind they were related, she couldn't fully see the girl as she was being pushed back but she had come to the realization that she recognized the voice.
"My God, look how big you are." With that she wrapped his arms around her and he did she.
"The hell are you wearing, a guards uniform?"
"I borrowed it to get on the drop ship. Someone has got to keep an eye on you," he chuckled.
"Where's your wristband?" The blonde intruded once more.
The brunette shot her a glare, "Do you mind? I haven't seen my brother in a year."
"No one has a brother." One boy spoke out from the crowd, next was a girl. "That's Octavia Blake the girl they found hidden in the floor!" Oh my god, the little shit came down here too. Cora thought smiling glad to see she was being reunited with her older brother.
Octavia began to charge falling short as her brother grabbed her by the waist pulling her back, "Octavia, Octavia, no. Let's give them something else to remember you by."
"Yeah? Like what?" She asked looking at him.
"Like being the first person on the ground in a hundred years," Her eyes lit up like a wild fire. Bellamy stepped over and pulled the lever down slightly.
The door opened and everyone took in the scent of the oxygen. Oxygen, pure clean fresh and not made by machines, the was an unlimited amount of it. Octavia slowly made her way down to the edge of the platform. It was monumental watching as she made her way down. Her fingers placed so delicately, her boots leaving small sounds with her movements. She stepped down onto the ground inhaling once more before throwing her hands up, "We're back Bitches!" She shouted bringing riot from the crowds as people rushed out. Cora ran out along with everyone taking in the scent of the earth, the sights sounds colors it was almost magical compared to the dull colors of the Ark.
She ran around a bit throwing her head back laughing. The feeling of plush dirt beneath her feet instead of cold metal. The feeling of the warm sun against her face. Cora ran her hands along the bark feeling the texture. She looked up at the blue sky seeing how tall the trees were. Amusement consumed her as she continued to explore. She looked over at a tree, it looked like an easy tree to climb so she did, gripping pieces of the bark feeling the moisture under her hands. Her hand had slipped so she started over, then it happened again only with her foot. The last time she finally got the hang of it getting to a higher up branch. Her feet hung over the edge as she watched commotion break out between some rich kid-yet another familiar face she couldn't name-and some not so rich kid. She wasn't much interested in all the politics but the matter was they were all already fighting like pansy's.
If that's what they call a right hook boy have I got news for them, the blonde giggled at her own comment. She watched from above as the kid addressed as 'Space Walker' practically flew down from the drop ship and stopped the issue, something about a fair fight. "Dear god the boring magazines on the Ark were more entertaining than this bullshit," Cora mumbled to herself before climbing down the tree. She walked over to the blonde who everyone addressed as Princess. "You're Claire right?" She asked tilting her head slightly, it was something with a C. Her face also tugged at a memory, what?-she couldn't figure out.
She knew Clarke a long time ago when she was about six but then their friendship faded as things took a twist in her life. Of course with as much dark as she experienced she hardly remembered. "Clarke actually, and yourself?" She asked sticking out her hand.
Cora had grabbed her hand firmly once more. "Sorry, I'm Cora." Clarke slightly stepped back then shook her head and stepped back forward.
"I uh-"
"No worries believe me I've grown insensitive to many things."
"So Mount Weather. When do we leave?" Space Walker said walking over. "Finn," he stuck out his hand towards Cora.
Once more she grabbed it with a firm grip and responded "Cora, yes that Cora." She butted in before he could question anything.
"Right now. We'll be back tomorrow with the food," Clarke said looking at Wells.
"How are the two of you gonna carry enough food for a hundred?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
Finn turns around and grabs the guy with a pair winter goggles and the Asian kid who she assumed was his best friend. "Four of us. Can we go now?" Cora pressed her lips together holding back a laugh, "What's so funny?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
"You sound like five-year-old. Can we go now, pretty please!" She mimicked laughing through her nose.
"Sounds like a party. Make it five." Octavia said before she looked over at Cora. "No way, you're alive? I thought your time was up," her voice sighed in relief as she hugged Cora.
Cora patted her back slightly chuckling, "Octavia, you know I'm not one for hugs." Octavia nodded slightly as she paused, "So le-go."
Octavia chuckled shaking her head backing up, "You were always such a hardass." Cora smiled. Octavia knew why she was locked up she was one of the only ones who understood and believed her.
"Hey what the hell are you doing?" Bellamy butted in looking at Octavia with a stern look.
"Going for a walk," she replied with a smirk Cora chuckled looking at the siblings bicker.
She looked over at Clarke and noticed that she was looking at Finn's wristband, her attention went there as well. "Hey, were you trying to take this off?" She asked grabbing his wrist.
"Yeah. So?" He shrugged in response.
"So those wristbands transmit your vital signs to the ark take it off and they'll think you're dead," She responded.
"Should I care?"
"Well, I don't know. Do you want the people you love to think you're dead? Do you want them to follow you down here in two months? Because they won't if they think we're dying," Clarke said looking at him sternly. Cora looked at her then at the other's around her, she noticed that Bellamy took an intense interest than the rest. "Okay. Now let's go."
"Go on," Bellamy sigh relentless.
"Mwah!" Octavia said kissing her brother on the cheek quickly then walking off the hunger for adventure in her eyes.
"You shouldn't have come here Wells," Clarke commented as she started to walk.
"Hey Clarke!" Cora called out stopping her. "Those wrists bands you said we take them off and people in the Ark think we're dead?" Cora asked, Clarke nodded in response. "I was gonna say I'll go with you to get the food but something tells me people are gonna want it off and frankly I'd rather a bitch who would kick someone's ass for taking it off than be stuck down here alone with these idjits who don't know what the hell they're doing."
Clarke nodded then raised an eyebrow, "Why are you telling me this?"
"Because if you come back and everyone is hanging by there feet you'll know why," a small smile tugged at her lips as did one on Clarke's face.
She nodded, "yeah okay that'd be good, I guess, thanks." Clarke smiled in return, nodding.
She groaned looking around, at the camp. Everyone had their own sort of territory they'd called but no one really had a tent. Cora looked out at the parachute, she swayed her hands over the material before tugging on it.
Something to cut it with, she thought looking around before spotting a kid with a knife like item. Once he had finished writing his incorrect grammar she walked over 'accidentally' pushing into him. "Oh sorry," she apologized her hand slipping into the pocket snatching the weapon and continued over back to the parachute.
She looked up then around then spotted Bellamy. "Hey Muscles!" She shouted looking at him, his head snapped up as she grabbed his attention. "Come here," she said wiggling her finger for him to come forward.
He rolled his eyes walking over, "what do you need Little Scout?" He asked looking at her.
"Boost me up," she said tugging on the the material.
"What?"
"I need to get up there, boost me up."
"Why do you-" he didn't bother to ask. He shook his head placing his knee out then clasping his hands together as well. She nodded placing her back foot on his hands, gripping the parachute he pushed her up to where she climbed even more. He still held her foot as she climbed more, as she climbed he pushed her up until his arms were fully up. She gripped the cloth wrapping her legs around as well Bellamy watched as she climbed the last few feet. Well I guess the tree practice helped. She thought with a silent chuckle "So you wanna tell me what you're doing now?" He asked watching her pull out a small knife which she took from Murphy. "And did you take that from Murphy?" He looked at her tilting her head.
A devilish smirk appeared on her lips as she looked down at him, "Well, assuming we're gonna stay here a while, we're gonna need some tents it could also be 'door' for the drop ship." Cora said fully making her way across the edge cutting it off.
"Smart, anything else in that head of yours?" He asked watching the cloth fall.
"Well once I get down I think we should take the seats out of the drop ship and set them around to create more room." She said looking down, he nodded watching her. She looked down carefully trying not to fall, she failed falling a bit a small cry slipped her lips. Cora grabbed onto one of the bars on her way of falling, her feet dangling. She pushed her feet against the drop ship trying to find support
"Oh my god," Bellamy said getting underneath her. He stuck his hands under her feet slightly on his toes so she was a bit sturdier. She looked down not letting go. "You okay?" He asked trying to support her as much as possible.
She nodded reaching down grabbing another bar holding tightly, letting go of the higher up one her body slammed against the metal gripping the bar. Bellamy's arms slacked a bit as he dropped flat footed, he continued to hold her. She looked down seeing an easy foot sprain drop and shook her head removing that thought. She did the same thing once more feeling an easy bruise appear on her side. "Hey, let go I'll catch you." Bellamy said as her feet were now being supported his hands resting by his shoulders.
"Umm.. you sure? I really don't feel like fucking up one of my feet." She said not looking down. Bellamy motioned a couple guys to come over, they did so and stood next to Bellamy ready to catch her.
"Well you shoulda thought about that before you did that, and yes I'm sure." She looked down once more seeing they two boys. She nodded giving her self a mini pep talk.
"Okay come on Cora you can let go, they're decently looking guys. Bellamy seems to be holding you up. You can do this.-"
"Today Little Scout," he said. She let go with a squeal feeling hands grab her legs, back and stomach. Her feet touched the ground as Bellamy had his arms around her waist and each guy held one of her arms.
"Thanks," She nodded to the unnamed guys. They left nodding a no problem in reply. Bellamy let go of her as she turned around. "Hey, Muscles." She paused looking at him, "Thanks for the help."
Bellamy nodded, "Anytime Scout."
She shook her head exhaling a small laugh from her nose, "You mean Cora." She said grabbing his shoulder, "And I'm not done with you yet." He rolled his eyes followers her.
"You stop calling me Muscles and the name Scout will go away," he smirked looking at her.
"Whatever," she flattened out an corner of the parachute, "Lie down."
He raised an eyebrow questioning her, she nodded as her eyebrows pushed upwards forcing emphasis. "So, why did you stay behind instead of going on the little field trip?" He asked as she pulled him to the edge of the so his boots were barely over the cloth.
"Because, when they get back, you're all gonna be hungry. After you eat you're gonna realize having your own tent it nice. I want first dibs." She said stepping over him to take his arms off his crossed chest and elongate them fully.
"Mind if I bunk with you?" He asked smirking as she was messing with his arms. She went to the edge of his finger tips before the sound of a knife digging into the cloth the dirt could be heard.
"Yes actually, there are three girls all dying to sleep with you over there watching my every move making sure not to touch their precious king," she paused as he glanced over at the three very obvious girls. She grabbed both his hands and completely spun 90 degrees him so he was on the other side of the parachute. She made another cut then elongated this one, went back to the other and did the same. Bellamy stood up looking at the almost perfect square. "and frankly I don't need you and which ever one of them staining my tent forever." She said gathering the giant piece of cloth. "But thank for the help, Muscles." She patted his chest walking off.
Cora walked for a bit before she found a log with a decently sized flat area. She sat down on a log fiddling out bendable sticks to support her tent. Still using Murphy's knife she decided she was going to keep it. She chuckled hearing Murphy question many people where it went. Bellamy and him walked by her when Murphy stopped by her. "Hey, that's my knife," he said looking down a her as she continued to sculpt the branch.
"And so?" She looked up at him for a moment glancing over his angry expression to Bellamy who looked like he was trying not to laugh.
"I want it back."
"Sorry bud that ain't happening."
"Excuse me?"
"Make a new one."
"Or how about you give it back."
She rolled her eyes standing up, she held the knife out in front of him for a moment before sticking it slightly into her bra. "Go get it," her voice was steady a she looked him dead in the eye there was a couple people gathering around as he swallowed hard.
"Whatever," he groaned walking off. She smiled to her self and continued to sculpt the stick
"Well that was stupid," Bellamy said grabbing another stick doing the same,"You know he's gonna take it in the night?"
"Yeah but it showed him that not everyone's his little bitch," she she said sitting back down.
"So he has bitches?" Bellamy questioned raising an eyebrow sitting next t to her. He watched as she moved the blade gracefully.
"No but you do," she said her eyes stilled focused on the knife.
"Really? I do?"
"They took their bracelets off, I wonder who told them to do that," she now seemed annoyed, she moved the knife along the stick with a but more anger.
"I'm not gonna deny it."
"No you're just gonna get us killed," she said bluntly setting the completed one down and picking up a new one.
"I'm leading everyone to do whatever the hell they want," he looked at her and how she chose to keep herself busy.
"So getting everyone killed," she stopped her big blue eyes looking into his doe eyes.
"I can't tell if I like you, or find you annoying, Scout." He said looking at her.
"I like you Bellamy, I don't like your intentions on the way you wanna run things. Being locked as long as I was you learn to take care of yourself. And if means killing you to make sure the Ark comes down to Earth, I will." She said standing up, "Now if you don't mind, I need more twigs." With that she left the place she was at to then look over her shoulder to see Bellamy mobbed with a couple of horny girls, but his gaze never left her.
She looked around and saw Wells walking by. "Hey Wells, right?"
"Listen if you're gonna bash on me about my dad I already know," he said his tone laced with annoyance.
"No no, nothing like that, it's about what's inside you're mind. You seem to be key on surviving, that's what we need. I'm making a tent but could use some help. Do you mind?" She asked sliding her hands into her back pockets rocking on her heels to her toes.
"No, that sounds, like the most reasonable thing I've heard since the drop ship touched ground," he laughed lightly.
She smiled her lips pressed together. "Cool, I'm gonna grab some more twigs if you wanna go cut yourself out a tent," she spoke sweetly handing him Murphy's knife. She walked off a small skip to her step. She past by a couple of the delinquents making out and others fighting. She rolled her eyes walking right through one, many watched as she walked by so gracefully. "Hey Scout," some kid shouted, she'd realized one to many people heard the nickname Bellamy had given her and it caught on.
She turned and looked at the male who called her out, he was very tall and thin, his cheeks and arms infected with a large amount of freckles, his hair was a bright orange, obviously dyed. "What do you want?" She asked looking back at him a sharp look holding her face.
"If you're cocky enough to walk through a fight why don't you prove you're skills," he demanded raising cheers from the crowd.
She shook her head laughing, "Are you sure? I wouldn't want to hurt that precious ego of your's."
"Oh I'm sure," she shook her head laughing lightly, Cora clenched her fist raising them up slightly. "C'mon," she teased, he threw a punch which she avoided perfectly. "Man you must be outta shape." There was a glow in her eyes as she avoided every single one of his lashes. The small crowd increased adding comments and cheering on the blonde
Bellamy walked over along with Murphy, the sun shinned down on them as she smiled. "Isn't that Cora, the bitch who stole my knife?" Murphy grumbled as they watched her.
"Yeah," Bellamy paused smiling slightly, phasing the fact that she would kill him, he found a beauty in her fire it made him like her even more. "You might as well make a new one, she's different. I don't think she cares."
"You know that she is that Cora the one who-"
"I know who she is, and I don't care she's someone we need on our side." Murphy looked at Bellamy as his arms were crossed looking over the girl who had just pinned down the boy who challenged her.
She got off him and stuck out a hand, "Hey maybe next time I won't brutally beat you," she smirked resuming to get some branches and vines. The group of people called out her name cheering for her. "Or maybe I will," she spoke to herself hearing the cheers in the background.
