Chap. 8 - Ring Wraiths and an Elf

19:56, 3 August 2017

After awhile, my breakfast had worn off and I was hungry again. The hobbits seemed to be hungry as well. Especially Pippin.

"Gentleman, and lady," Strider stopped to look at the hobbit and I.

I stood besides Strider. He continued, "We do not stop until nightfall."

"What about breakfast?" Pippin asked.

Strider looks at Pippin, and raised an eyebrow, "You've already had it!"

Pippin nodded, "We've had one yes, but what about second breakfast?"

I had to stifle a laugh. Second breakfast! Strider's face said it all; confused with the hobbits' way of life. After all that food he ate for breakfast, he was still hungry?

Strider shook his head and frowned and started to walk away. He tossed an apple to Merry and Pippin, and handed one to me. I laughed. Second breakfast!

We kept walking, and spent the night in a marshland. While I was trying to sleep, I heard Strider singing. Though I could not hear the words, it lulled me back to sleep.

In the morning, we woke up, and ate breakfast and started to walk over hills.

After a long day of walking, I saw a rocky ruins. Maybe a castle? I stared up in awe at it.

Strider admired the old structure, "This was the great watch tower of Amon Sul. We shall rest here tonight."

We reached the tower, and we set our things down. I looked at the setting sun, and glanced at Strider. He was looking at me, and quickly looked away. I blushed.

Strider took a bundle of fabric off of Bill, and walked back to us. He unwrapped the bundle, and passed out swords. He handed me a slender sword, and smiled. I took it from him and admired it. I had never had a sword before. I wish I still had my bow.

"These are for you. Keep them close. I'm going to have a look around. Stay here," Strider said. I looked up at him, "I want to come."He looked at me, "No. Stay with the hobbits."

I looked at the small figures and nodded. Strider walked around the corner and disappeared. I yawned.

"I'm going to try and get some sleep. Don't do anything dangerous," I joked.

They nodded, and Frodo said, "I'll try and get some sleep as well."

I feel asleep pretty fast, but after a little while, I smelled bacon and something else. I sat up, and so did Frodo. "Guys! I said don't do anything dangerous!"

"We didn't, Lady Alex. We saved you and Frodo some tomatoes, sausages, and nice crispy bacon," Merry said and smiled.

"Put it out you fools! Put it out!" Frodo said, frantically while stepping onto the fire to put it out.

I heard the screech of the Nazgul. I froze. "God dang it," I whispered.

"Go!" Frodo said. We gathered our swords, and scrambled up to the top of the tower.

All of our breaths were ragged, and we were scared. I didn't know how to wield a sword as well as one of the Nazgul. I wish I had my bow. Again.

I heard another screech. I gathered the hobbits into a small group in the middle of the courtyard. A wraith slowly approached us. 5 more appeared, all with huge swords unsheathed held out in front of them. They were really close to Sam, and he yelled, "Back you devils!"

Sam tried to slash a wraith with his sword, but the wraith shoved him aside.

"Sam! Are you alright!?" I yelled, holding my sword in front of me.

"Yeah," he groaned, and got up.

I stepped in front of Frodo, trying to protect him. The wraith shoved Merry and Pippin aside, and they fell as well. I realized that I was only an obstacle between the ring and this guy. I yelled, and brought my sword down through its shoulder. It screeched, making me wince.

The wraith took its sword, and swiped at my left shoulder. I gasped, and then screamed in agony. Its blade had cut into my skin. The wraith shoved me aside, and I landed onto my injured shoulder.

I screeched, and saw Frodo fall onto the ground. I tried to get up, but the pain was too intense.

I saw Frodo disappear, and winced as I heard Frodo scream like I did. I forced myself to get up, even if my arm felt like it was hundred pounds. I yelled, and charged at the Nazgul.

Sam ran towards Frodo, and yelled, "Strider!"

Strider. Where the heck was he? As I tried to slash through a wraith, a flash of orange light blinded me for a second.

Strider!

He lit the clothes of the Nazgul on fire, and they fled the tower. The hobbits crowded around Frodo, and called for Strider.

My arm hurt way too much to hear anything they were saying. I tried not to black out, so I fought the pain and grew dizzy. My vision grew blurry, and saw a figure running towards me.

~ STRIDER'S POINT OF VIEW ~

After I scared the rest of the wraiths away, I heard the hobbits screaming for me. Frodo was moaning in pain. I leaned down, and saw the sword next to Frodo. I picked it up, and it turned into ash.

"He's been stabbed with a Morgul blade. This is beyond my skill to heal. We need elvish medicine," I quickly said.

Alex. Where was Alex? I saw her figure in the corner of the courtyard. "Carry Frodo down to Bill. Quickly now!" I ordered.

She was moaning with pain, but it wasn't as bad as Frodo's wound. I glanced at her cut. The wraith seemed to have slashed her shoulder.

"Ssstriderr," Alex murmured, and almost fainted."It's alright. You are safe now," I said, and picked her up, and hurried after the hobbits. We ran into the woods as fast as we could, and we had to stop for a breather.

Sam felt Frodo's forehead, "He's gone cold!"

I checked Alex's forehead. She was still warm. I sighed with relief.

"Are they going to die?" Pippin asked.

"No. They will pass into the Shadow world. They will soon become a wraith like them," I said sadly, "Sam! Do you know the Athelas plant?"

"Athelas?" Sam asked.

"Kingsfoil," I said.

"Kingsfoil. Aye, it's a weed," Sam said.

"It may help to slow the poison! Hurry!" I quickly glanced around, checking for the wraiths. I heard a screech. I set Alex down gently, and ran after Sam. I bent down, and looked at the plants. Ah. Kingsfoil! I reached to pick some of it when a blade touched my throat.

"What's this? A ranger caught off his guard?" a familiar voice said.

I stood up. Arwen, my close friend from my childhood.

We raced back to Alex and Frodo. I chewed up the weed, and placed it onto each of their wounds. Alex gasped, and groaned. Frodo tensed, and gasped. Arwen spoke elvish to Frodo, and Merry, Sam, and Pippin stared in awe.

"Who is she?" Merry asked.

"She's an elf!" Sam said, amazed.

"He's not going to last. Alex will, but only for a couple days more. Her wound isn't as bad as Frodo's. He needs my father," Arwen said.

I picked up Frodo, and carried him to Arwen's horse.

"There are five wraiths after you. Where the other four are, I do not know," Arwen said.

"Dartho guin perian. Rych le ad tolthathon," I said, going to retrieve Alex so I could bring her along as well. (Stay with the hobbits. I will send horses back for you)

"Hon mabathon. Rochon ellint im." (I'm the faster rider. I'll take him)

"Andelu i ven." (The road is too dangerous)

"I do not fear them."

"Be iest lin." (As you wish)

I watched Arwen ride off, and I ran back to Alex. Her temperature was fine. Her eyes were still the piercing blue they always were, but I could see that they were beginning to cloud up.

"What are you doing? Those wraiths are still out there!" Sam yelled.

I said nothing, hoping that Alex and Frodo would make it.

OK YAY. IF I CAN, I HOPE I CAN FIT THE COUNCIL MEETING INTO THE NEXT CHAPTER! And also, Arwen shall not be in this story. This is the only part that she shall get so sorry for you Arwen lovers! She and Aragorn are just friends. Just making that clear for y'all. THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING!!! <3
