Doctors Appointments

Tris' POV

I feel like s***.

I have a bad headache and my belly hurts. I can't even stand up, I'm too dizzy.

It's been like this since yesterday after that major dose of peace serum. Maybe that's what got me sick.

If it is, I swear I will kill the Pedrad's.

Tobias comes into the bedroom with a book and a bowl of something. He made me stay in here until we knew what was wrong and only let me up to go to the bathroom.

"Here, I've got you something," he says.

I raise my eyebrows and he walks over.

He sets the bowl of what looks like soup on my nightstand and sits on the edge of the bed.

"Here, I found it in the Dauntless library, which surprisingly is a thing," He chirps and hands me a hardcover book with worn edges and fraying pages.

I remember being told to read the books with the most wear, because it means the most people has read it. That advice has never failed me.

On the spine of the book, it reads in cursive letters, The Legacy of Tril.

"Thank you," I whisper, my voice is dry and scratchy.

"Here, eat then read," He holds up a spoon filled with chicken broth.

"I can feed myself, I'm not handicapped," I mumble.

"I know," He puts the spoon in my mouth and tips it's contents carefully.

He repeats the process until the bowl is empty.

"Now, you can read," He hands me the book and stands up. "You have a doctors appointment in about an hour,"

He walks out and I settle with the book.

... If I ever found Maddox, I was going to kill him. Granted, all I knew of him was his name and the fact that he was supposed to pick me up from  the trailhead three hours ago, but that was enough to place blame on him for the predicament  I was in. After waiting what seemed like forever, I'd griped the note from the headmaster in my hand and trudged up the hill, dragging my trunk behind me. After all, how hard could locating Shadow Academy be?

"Hey, about time for your appointment," Tobias says while leaning against the wall.

"Ja, ja, was auch immer, (Yeah, yeah, whatever)" I mumbled and placed the book on the nightstand.

I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and stood up.

Well, tried. I fell right back down due to dizziness.

Tobias jumps up and comes over to help me.

Normally, I would never let him help me dress, but now, I don't really have a choice.

He pulls one of his shirts over my head and helps me stand.

I don't normally wear his clothes in public, except for his hoodies or something, but it smells like him, and it makes me feel safe.

We walk out the door and make our way to the infirmary.

The nurse calls us back to a room and I sit on the weird bed thing, my eyes shut.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Roth, what's the problem?" The doctor asks.

"I can barely stand up and my head pounds, along with my belly, which feels like I'm being stabbed,"

"Last night she was also running a fever," Tobias adds.

"Okay, we will run a few tests and see what we can find,"

She comes back in a few moments later with a confused look on her face.

"What's wrong with her?" Tobias asks.

"Well, it looks as if she's got a normal cold, but her symptoms are far worse than a typical cold. These kind of symptoms usually occur when someone has had a large dose of the peace or truth serum,"

"I'm going to kill the Pedrad's..." I mumble.

"She had a large dose of the peace serum as a prank," Tobias explains.

"Oh, well then, she should be better in a few days. I recomend staying in bed and no work," Dr. Roth explains.

"What about-" I cough, "-the initiates?"

"I would not recommend it, you can barely stand up as it is,"

"Okay, thank you," Tobias says and helps me stand.

"Go lay down," Tobias commands.

"Come on! I have been in there all day!" I whine.

"Go, or else I will carry you in there and tie you down," He smirks.

I roll my eyes and walk into the bedroom, collapsing on the bed.

Ich werde die Pedrad's töten... (I'm going to kill the Pedrad's... ) I think to myself.

I hear the small jingling of a bell and look over the edge of the bed and see DP sitting by the door.

"Here, Kitty, kitty. C'mere," I whisper.

DP looks at me and trots over to the bed, her little bell jingling the whole way.

She stares up at me and looks like she's getting ready to pounce, then jumps onto the bed.

"Awww!" I exclaim.

DP lays curled next to my belly and I stroke her soft fur gently.

I close my eyes and let sleep take me.

**Time lapse- two days**

Tobias has had me on bed rest for the last two days, but nothing is stopping me from going to that meeting in Factionless. Besides, I'm feeling better.

Tobias slips into the bedroom almost silently and grabs his jacket from the closet.

He thinks I'm asleep and can sneak to that meeting without me because "I'm sick"

Idiot.

"What are you doing?" I question, causing him to jump.

"I still have to get Sarah and go to that meeting,"

"I'm coming," I say and stand up from the warm bed.

"You're still sick," he counters.

"I'm fine," I say while changing.

"You're so stubborn..." He mumbles.

"Heard that," I respond and grab his black hoodie.

He raises an eyebrow.

"My hoodie?"

"It smells like you. Safe," I respond and hug him.

After putting on the hoodie.

He laughs and kisses me gently.

"I'm only going to talk to Evelyn and Mia in German because I know they hate it, and I hate them. Just letting you know,"

"That's my girl. You going to talk to Mae and I in English?"

"Yeah, I like you guys,"

He laughs and we head out.

**Page break**

"You want me to get Sarah or you?" I ask.

"I will," He responds and walks into the initiate dorms.

I lean against the wall and wait.

"Hey, Tris!" A voice chirps.

"Hey, Sarah. Ready to go?"

"Yeah," Tobias responds and kisses my head.

"Why am I here, again?" Sarah chimes in, confusion lacing her voice.

"Someone wants to see you," Tobias responds.

"Who?"

"Can't tell. Just trust us," I say and start walking.

She shrugs and follows after us.

**Page break** (Sorry for all the page breaks!)

"Ready to jump?" I smirk and Sarah nods.

We run beside the blur of silver and pull ourselves on. Tobias first, then me, then Sarah.

Waiting on the train is Mae and Mia.

Mae has her hair pulled in a pretty french braid pulled on her shoulder. Mia's hair is like it was the first time I met her: tightly braided in many braids hanging down her back with areas of blue dye.

"Hey, Tris. Tobias. Other girl I don't know," Mae greets.

Mia rolls her eyes.

"I thought the blonde wasn't coming," Mia growls.

"Du hast falsch gedacht. Die "Blondine" ist hier (You thought wrong. The "blonde" is here.)," I hiss and Tobias smirks.

Mia growls.

"Tris speaks German?!" Sarah marvels.

Oops.

"Only when she's mad or wants to annoy someone," Tobias explains.

"Oh,"

"Don't tell no one," I say.

"Okay,"

"You are such a b****," Mia snarls.

"And you're an a**hole," I say with mock enthusiasm.

"Quit arguing," Mae says quietly.

"You can't tell me what to do, dumb***," Mia snarls and Mae sinks back down.

"Time to jump," Tobias says.

I walk over to the entry way and prepare to jump.

That's when I feel someone shove my back, and I lose my balance.
