Chapter 15

13:58, 31 May 2021

Stiles still had tears running down his face as he drove his jeep, Peter in the passenger seat and Sage laid down in the back. Stiles had to beg Peter to let him bring the blonde, he didn't want to leave her, he also knew Jackson would only be able to get help for Lydia and the blonde jock would have assumed the vampire was dead.

Stiles's fingers twitched against the steering wheel, he was recalling back on the field how the alpha had stuck a syringe full of purple liquid into the girl's neck he soon found out was vervain. He just continued driving, wishing for this night to be over.

~

"Whose car is this?" The human questioned as they stood in the parking garage in front of a car he didn't recognize. His eyes and mind wandering to the blonde who was still unconscious in the back of his jeep.

"It belonged to my nurse."

"What happened to your n -" He gasped when he saw her dead body inside. "Oh, my God!"

"I got better." The alpha sighed as he took his things out of the trunk. Stiles had realised that the alpha had opened up a laptop, "Good luck getting a signal down here." Stiles scoffed when he saw the small object that Peter handed him. "Oh, MiFi. And you're a Mac guy, does that go for all werewolves or just a personal preference?" He sassed.

"Turn it on. Get connected." The alpha ordered.

"You know, you're really killing the whole werewolf mystique thing here. Look, you still need Scott's username and password, and I'm sorry, but I don't know them."

He gave the young teenager a blank look. "You know both of them."

"No, I don't." The Stilinski boy lied.

"Even if I couldn't hear your heartbeat, I would still be able to tell that you're lying."

"Dude, I swear to God -" Stiles groaned when he felt his head getting slammed down onto the deceased nurse's car.

"I can be very persuasive, Stiles. Don't make me persuade you." He lightly threatened before releasing his head.

The human let out a shaky sigh before slowly typing in the young werewolf's information. "What happens after you find Derek?"

"Don't think, Stiles. Type."

"You're gonna kill people, aren't you?"

"Only the responsible ones." He revealed.

Stiles licked his lips and stared at him. "Look, if I do this, you have to promise to leave Scott out of it."

Peter sighed heavily. "Do you know why wolves hunt in packs? It's because their favourite prey are too large to be brought down by one wolf alone. I need Derek and Scott. I need both of them."

"He's not gonna help you," Stiles said, even though his bestfriend was a werewolf, he wasn't a killer. The McCall boy worked so hard to work on his aggression these last couple weeks- and the human would be damned if he threw that all away for Peter.

"Oh, he will," Peter said smugly. "Because it'll save Allison. And you will because it will save Scott, and that pretty little blonde back there would do anything for you. Momentarily disabling her was a need in my favour, but I know if you'd ask her she would have done anything for you, like help me kill the responsible ones."

"So why did you disable her then, if she could help you?" The human asked with interest, he knew that the blonde would do whatever it took to keep him safe, it was their bond, but he didn't know why Peter had such a fascination with her.

"I almost killed Lydia, the bond would have taken over and she would have killed me. Even if you asked her not to, a guardian bond is one of the rarest and strongest bonds out there. She would have killed me and anyone else. Except you."

Stiles was stunned, he knew bits about the guardian bond from what Sage had told him and from the research that he did but he had no idea how severe it was.

"Now come on, you will do anything to protect her as well as your bestfriend. Your best friend whom you know so well, you even have his username and password." His expression faltered when Stiles typed in the username and password. "His username is Allison? His password is also Allison?" Peter was really starting to rethink his decision of the McCall boy.

Stiles looked just as ashamed as he did. "Still want him in your pack?" Stiles stares at a GPS map on the laptop screen, his brows furrowed in surprise and confusion. "Wait, what the - That's where they're keeping him? At his own house?"

"Not at it. Under it. I know exactly where that is." He stilled hearing a loud howl. "And I'm not the only one." He looked back at Stiles. "Give me your keys."

Stile sighed heavily and pulled out his keys from his pockets and handed them over. "Careful. She grinds in second." Peter crushed them in his hand before handing them back over to him. "So you're not gonna kill me?" He gulped when Peter took a few steps towards him. "Oh, God."

"Don't you understand yet?" Peter gave him a frown. "I'm not the bad guy here."

"You turn into a giant monster with red eyes and fangs, and you're not the bad guy here?" The human asked sarcastically.

Peter gave a small chuckle. "I like you, Stiles. Since you've helped me, I'm going to give you something in return. Do you want the bite?"

"What?" He breathed out.

"Do you want the bite?" He repeated. "If it doesn't kill you - and it could - you'll become like us."

"Like you."

He nodded. "Yes, a werewolf." He sighed. "Would you like me to draw you a picture? That first night in the woods, I took Scott because I needed a new pack. It could've easily been you. You'd be every bit as powerful as him. No more standing by his side, watching him become stronger, and quicker, more popular, watching him get the girl." Stiles held back a flinch at that, unsure of what to think. "You'd be equals. Maybe more. Yes or no?"

Of course, the human thought about it, who wouldn't want all that power, that strength? He wouldn't need protection, he could fight with his bestfriend and the girl he loved side by side.

But of course, that power came with a price.

Everything comes with a price. And he didn't want to pay it.

"I don't wanna be like you."

The alpha was getting tired of the human's lack of ability to lie. "Do you know what I heard just then? Your heart beating slightly faster over the words I don't want. You may believe that you're telling me the truth, but you are lying to yourself." He said before turning around and leaving.

"Goodbye, Stiles."

Stiles stood there dumbfounded as he couldn't find it in himself to argue his point. He knew he was lying, but he didn't want to take that risk.

"Where is he?"

A voice croaked making him jump in surprise. He turned around seeing Sage struggling to walk towards him. "Sage, oh my god! Are you okay?!" He quickly caught her before she fell.

"Where's the bastard? I'm gonna fucking rip his head off for what he did- wait. Where's Lydia?" Sage was starting to panic, she couldn't feel the strawberry blonde in their bond and it was starting to scare her. She felt Stiles' soft hands cup her face causing blue to meet brown.

"She's at the hospital, Jackson took her." He said softly, trying to calm her down. "And Peter is long gone. He went to save Derek."

She breathed heavily, "Alright, let's go to the hospital."

"Uh, we actually cant. Peter kind crushed the keys to the jeep." The Stlinski boy said showing the blonde his mangled keys. The blonde vampire sighed, she knew the only way she could get both of them there quick enough was by running, but she felt weak.

"I would run us there but I feel like shit."

"Yeah, after he- uh, snapped her neck." He started off wincing, "He shot you full of vervain." Sage just sighed and walked over to the jeep, she again was about to lose her balance but the human quickly wrapped his arm around her.

Stiles furrowed his eyebrows as he watched her rummage through the back of the jeep, "What are you looking for?"

"Blood bags. I always keep a stash in here for emergencies."

Stiles tried not to look so shocked when he heard her response, but he just knew that he couldn't.

"Y-you keep blood bags in my jeep?"

"I change them every day so they never get warm- fuck!" She exclaimed harshly while slamming the jeep shut. Normally the Stilinski boy would winge about the condition of his jeep but he was worried about the blonde.

"The blood would counter out the vervain, I'm not strong enough to get us both there." Sage hated feeling weak, it wasn't an option for her. Especially when it comes to her duty as a guardian, she needed to be there for Lydia, and she couldn't do that if she was weak.

Stiles stared at the girl he was falling deeply in love with minute by minute, he hated seeing her like this. Not weak, but- defeated.

"You need the blood to basically regain full strength?"

She nodded.

"Then drink from me." He said tone 100% serious, the blonde snapped her head towards him, her eyes wide as she looked at the boy whose face didn't flatter in the slightest.

"No."

"W-what, Sage come on. You need to blood, I 100% trust you- not only because of our bond but because I know you. If you were any other vampire you would have already sunk your teeth into me without asking. I'm offering myself to you Sage."

The vampire stared at the human who had finished his speech with nothing but confidence, her heart warmed and her stomach flipped at his comment. I'm offering myself to you, the human didn't know it but that sentence alone meant the world to Sage.

"Are you sure?"

"100%."

The blonde slightly nodded as she watched him walk over to her, their bodies slightly pressed up against each other. Her back against the jeep while his hands hovered over her waist. He watched as her fangs came out and the veins beneath her eyes protruded, her ocean blue eyes turning vibrant purple. He found himself gently cupping her cheeks as he smiled softly at her. "It's okay." He said quietly and gently.

Sage hesitated for a moment before she leaned over and let her fangs sink into his neck, she began to gulp down his blood. The warm, crimson liquid slid down her throat, the last person she drank from was Peters nurse- drinking from a warm body was always satisfying but drinking from Stiles was a whole other world.

She could feel everything the human was feeling and it only fueled her more.

Stiles didn't think he would enjoy this one bit, but he did. He had to fight himself from realising a moan. His hands gripped her waist tightly, pushing her harder against the jeep.

This was the most intimate he has ever been with a person, it was almost better than their kiss.

Almost.

Sage released her fangs from his neck, her gaze solely on the ground. Her heart was hammering against her chest, she was afraid of what he was thinking. Stiles looked down at the girl in nothing but admiration and love, he lifted his finger under her chin, blue meeting brown.

He smiled down at her causing her own smile to come forth, he knew that he was deeply in love with this girl but what he didn't know was that she was on her way there.

*~*

Sage was the first one to walk through the elevator with Stiles in tow, her eyes flickering around to where the room that Lydia was being held in.

"Sage, Stiles?"

The two looked over to the Sheriff who was staring at them in surprise before approaching them. "Hey, dad." Stiles breathed out, while Sage walked over to Lydia's room.

Noah gave him a small smile before looking over the blonde who was focused intently on Lydia who was lying unconsciously in her hospital bed. He glanced over momentarily, his eyes saddening as he was aware of how close Sage and Lydia were. The blonde was always a topic that his son always brought up and the older Stilinski man knew from how much his son spoke of the blonde, he knew she was a good person.

"Is she gonna be okay?" Sage asked quietly, as she listened to the steady heartbeat that belonged to Lydia. Stiles heart breaking slightly from the sight of his guardian.

The Sheriff sighed, giving her a soft understanding expression. "They don't know, partially because they don't know what happened. She lost a lot of blood, but there's something else going on with her."

"What do you mean?"

"The doctors say it's like she's having an allergic reaction. Her body keeps going into shock." The older man said. "Did you two see anything? I mean, do you have any idea who or what attacked her?"

Stiles shook his head. "No. No, I have no idea."

Sage looked frowned as she continued to watch Lydia, she had failed her. But she was going to do everything she could to save her.

"Can I be excused?" Noah had sent the girl a sad smile while nodding at her, she had left them behind as she walked away. She glanced back to see them still talking while she managed to find the doctor.

"Hi." The tall doctor looked over at her and sent her a brief smile but his eyes soon became vacant as he stared into her purple ones.

"You are going to do everything you can to save that girl in there, and if you fail. I will rip out the hearts of every living member of your family." The doctor simply nodded at the vampire's command before he headed over to the Martin girls room.

Sage soon wandered around the hospital looking for Stiles, she could hear his heartbeat and his scent along with another familiar scent.

Argent.

"Oh, right. Derek said you guys had a Code. I guess no one ever breaks it." Stiles said and Argent slightly shook his head, "Never." He said. "What if someone did?" Stiles asked making Argent squint at him, "Someone like who?"

"Your psychopath of a sister." The vampire made herself known as she held the heart of one of the hunters in her hand.

"Burning people alive is just morbid, I like to go for the heart."

Chris looked over at the blonde in shock while Jackson slightly feared for his life. Stiles, well Stiles had only seen her kill once but he wasn't fazed in the slightest. Okay, maybe he was, just a little.

"So I guess your not a Guerrière after all." Chris frowned at the girl, he was certain that he could trust the girl because of how respected the Guerrière name was. But now he knew for certain that she did not live up to the Guerrière name.

"Your so smart Argent, now if you want to be even smarter you'll let Stiles go and go and stop your psychotic sister before I kill every hunter in a five-mile radius. Don't let that be you."

The room filled with silence apart from the raging heartbeats that came from both Stiles and Jackson. Chris had let the human go before side-eyeing the vampire, he and the two remaining hunters quickly left the hospital in search of Kate.

"Well come on, I gotta go out on a limb and say we gotta go save Scott and Derek now."

*~*

Sage had stopped Jackson's Porsche as she saw that they had arrived in time to see Peter facing off against Scott. "Alright Stiles, show us what you got." She muttered as they got out of the car.

Stiles nodded and got out. His grip on the beaker tightened as he let out a small breath before throwing it at the alpha who caught it. He swallowed thickly, tensing when he saw the red eyes landing on him. "Oh, damn." Sage was getting ready to rip his head off but Scott had managed to get Allison's bow to her in time.

As soon as the bottle broke, flames had erupted onto the beast's arms causing Jackson to throw the other beaker. Peter soon erupted into flames, just like the day the Hale house was set on fire. However, there was no way he could make it out alive from this.

Sage tilted her head to the side as she watched the young Hale man stalk towards his uncle, she knew what he was going to do and she didn't know how she felt about it. He wouldn't be a threat to her but she knew she would have to keep her guard up.

Scott noticing the Hale man cried out, "Wait! You said the cure comes from the one who bit you. Derek. If you do this, I'm dead. Her father, her family - what am I supposed to do?"

Peter choked out his words. "You've - already - decided." He barley got out his last sentence, "I can smell it on you!"

"Wait! No, no! Don't!

Scott tried to stop him but it was too late. Derek slashed Peter's throat, the vampire figured it was because he killed his sister but she guessed that a little part of Derek wanted that power, she just hoped it didn't get to his head. The only remaining Hale looked at them, his eyes shining a bright red.

"I'm the alpha now."

*~*

Sage sat in the corner of Lydia's room, as soon as Derek announced himself as the alpha she had made sure Stiles had gotten home before she set up camp in the Martin girls room.

The blonde had a slight frown on her face as she scanned over her friend, something had changed in their bond and she didn't know what. The bite hadn't healed but the Strawberry blonde was very much alive, the vampire had travelled the world for hundreds of years and she has never heard of someone surviving an alpha bite without turning.

Unless they were already supernatural.

But the question remains. If Lydia wasn't a werewolf, what was she?
