chapter one

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"She is the fuglyest girl I've seen since Caroline Smith, and that's saying something." Mackenzie Ziegler spoke as she applied a thick coat of lipgloss to her lips.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Agree." Annie LeBlanc, Kenzie's best friend replied, fixing up her dark chocolate hair.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"You know I heard her father left her mother for some 22 year old model." Kenzie smiled.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"And get this, the model was a guy."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Annie's mouth dropped. "No way!"⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀By this point the pair heard a large sob escaped from one of the bathroom stalls behind them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Kenzie chuckled. "Maybe her mother is just as hideous as her."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Before Kenzie could say anymore a slim blonde exited the bathroom stall the sobs were coming from. Her face drained of colour and big black circles of smudged mascara covered her eyes. Kenzie smirked as she watched Brynn Rumfallo race out of the bathroom.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"She deserved it." Kenzie spoke, "she threw herself at Brandon last week."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Annie shook her head at her best friend, she loved her but she was a total bitch. She obviously knew Brynn was in there, as the brunette conveniently trash talked her and her latest family issues.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Annie was the kinder of the two. She was generally sweet and polite, unlike Kenzie who was rude and stingy. But Annie couldn't be little miss nice all the time, everyone has a dark side. And even though Annie and Kenzie had been friends ever since they were young Annie had always been crippled with envy over Kenzie. I mean sure Annie was beautiful, with long dark hair and round brown eyes, and had tons of guys who would drop anything to go on a date with her and heaps of girls who would do anything to borrow her newest Louis Vuitton heels, but Kenzie had 10 times as many. And no matter what, Annie LeBlanc would never be Mackenzie Ziegler.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"And if she ever dares to flirt with Brandon again then she's in for a lot more than that." Kenzie snickered as the two walked out of the girls restrooms.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Mackenzie, Juliana." An attractive blonde boy smiled as he rested his arms on top of the duo's shoulders. Mortified Kenzie pushed his arm off.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Get off me Johnny." She yelled as she shoved Johnny Orlando away from her, Annie doing the same.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Johnny chuckled. "You're so sweet Mackenzie."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Kenzie stared daggers through him, a pit of hatred for him burning in her stomach.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Shouldn't you be off fucking some poor girl!" Kenzie spat.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Johnny looked down and smiled. "Already done."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Kenzie rolled her round brown eyes. "You're disgusting."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Johnny and Kenzie had a past. A past of hatred and revenge. They hated each other and always had. Johnny was always trying new ways to piss Kenzie off, almost always succeeding. Kenzie on the other hand preferred to stay as far away from Johnny as humanly possible, gutting him with insults whenever he came near her.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Kenzie watched Johnny in disgust as the senior checked out an obvious freshman who walked past them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Oh my god you're even more vile then I thought."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Johnny's focus left the girl and returned to Kenzie. He chuckled, "you know my sister's a freshmen this year."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Kenzie looked at him shaking her head. "And..."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"And she's trying out for the cheer team, that you're the captain of."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Kenzie looked at Johnny in disbelief. "You don't really think I would ever let anyone even slightly related to you on MY cheer team do you?" Kenzie snapped.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Maybe, maybe not. But if I trade you a little something for it..." Johnny spoke as he brushed a strand of chestnut hair out of Kenzies face. Kenzie slapped his hand away, gripping her hands tight on his shoulders.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"I have a boyfriend, and even if I didn't that would never happen." She spoke before kicking him in the shin. He groaned in pain.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Whatever" Johnny muttered under his breath. Kenzie smiled and walked away, linking arms with Annie.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"I absolutely hate him."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✨🌟✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀[a/n yay so my soccer season is officially over so I'm going to try write as much as I can because I'll be free everyday 💓]
