08:18, 27 March 2025Jungkook continued to gently wipe the paint off Duri's skin, his mind racing. He couldn't understand what had just happened. One moment, everything was fine, and the next, there she was, breaking down in front of him, and he had no idea why. He was confused—what could have started this? Why was she so upset? And why did it feel like there was so much more to the situation than what he was seeing?
His hands paused for a moment as his mind wandered, thoughts of you crossing his mind. Had he somehow made you feel neglected? Was that what set her off? He hadn't meant to give her any reason to think that she could manipulate him, but she had always been so close to him, so present during his toughest moments. Could she still have feelings for him? Was she just playing with him?
He looked at Duri, still trying to comfort her, and the guilt started to creep in. Maybe he was too focused on helping her, not realizing how it was affecting you. Was he missing something? Did you need him?
His heart tugged at the thought of you, but the confusion lingered. The tension between the three of you was becoming harder to ignore, and Jungkook had no idea what to do about it.
Jungkook, trying to make sense of everything, gently placed a hand on Duri's shoulder as he looked at her with concern. "Duri, can you please tell me exactly what happened?" His voice was soft, but there was a clear edge of confusion mixed with worry. "I need to understand this, and I want to make sure there's no misunderstanding between us."
Duri looked up at him, wiping her tears, and nodded. "I—I don't know how to explain it. I was just painting, and then she came outside. I was talking to her about the old days with you, and she... she seemed upset. She was glaring at me, and when I tried to joke about how close we were, she snapped." Her voice trembled as she continued, "I didn't mean for it to escalate like that. I swear, I didn't want to upset her."
Jungkook's frown deepened. He didn't want to jump to conclusions. He couldn't just blame you, not without hearing your side. The way Duri was explaining it, though, made it seem like you were the one at fault—but he didn't want to believe that without understanding what really happened. He had to be fair.
He took a deep breath, trying to steady his thoughts. "I'm not blaming anyone, Duri. I just need to hear both sides before I can make sense of all this. I know you've been through a lot, and I don't want to make it worse. But I also need to know if I missed something with Y/n."
Duri nodded, grateful for his understanding, but her eyes lingered with a faint glimmer of hope that he would side with her. Jungkook, however, was still conflicted, unsure of what to believe. His mind raced back to the tension earlier, wondering how to make sense of the growing divide between you two.
Jungkook gently wrapped his arms around Duri, offering her comfort as she continued to sob, apologizing repeatedly. He whispered softly, trying to soothe her, "It's okay, Duri. I know you didn't mean for this to happen." He held her for a few more moments, but his attention shifted when he heard the faint sound of footsteps. His gaze flickered to the doorway just in time to see you walking in, and his heart dropped.
Duri's crying softened, but her expression turned to one of subtle triumph as she saw you enter. Jungkook, feeling a wave of tension flood over him, pulled back from Duri slowly, wiping his hands on his jeans as he looked between you and her. His eyes were filled with confusion and concern, unsure how to navigate the situation that had spiraled out of control.
"Y/n..." Jungkook started, his voice cautious, his gaze flicking between you and Duri. "I—what happened outside?" There was a hesitance in his voice, not quite blaming you but clearly feeling torn between both sides. He couldn't deny what he saw, but he needed to understand your perspective.
Duri quickly wiped the remaining tears from her face and looked up at you, her expression apologetic but subtly guarded. "I didn't mean for it to get out of hand," she added, her voice still shaking, her eyes flickering over to Jungkook as if searching for validation. "I never wanted to cause any issues between you two."
Jungkook's gaze lingered on you, waiting for an explanation, his concern still evident. It was clear he didn't fully understand what had happened, but now, with both of you in the same room, the tension was unbearable.
You stare blankly, looking at Jungkook still holding onto Duri's shoulder while she stares back at you. You say nothing, feeling a mix of confusion, frustration, and hurt. You open your mouth to speak, but the words just won't come. The weight of the situation is too much to process in the moment.
Before you can react further, Jungkook suddenly reaches out and softly grabs your arm, gently pulling you away from the scene. You don't resist as he leads you into the living room, closing the door behind you with a quiet click. The moment the door is shut, you feel a sense of relief wash over you, but it's short-lived as the tension between you two fills the air.
Jungkook turns to face you, his grip loosening on your arm as he stands a few feet away. His expression is a mix of concern and confusion. "Y/n," he begins, his voice soft but firm, "what happened out there? What's going on? Why did you react like that?" He looks at you with a mixture of worry and frustration, clearly trying to understand what caused the scene.
You stand still, trying to gather your thoughts, but it's hard with everything swirling inside you. Your emotions are running wild—frustration, jealousy, hurt—but you don't want to lash out at him. You don't want to fight, but the situation is impossible to ignore anymore.
You stand there, your heart racing as Jungkook looks at you, waiting for an explanation. You try to speak, but the words catch in your throat. After a few deep breaths, you finally manage to say, "Jungkook... she's lying. She's doing this on purpose. She... she pushed everything just to get a reaction from me."
Jungkook looks at you, his brows furrowing as he tries to process your words. "What do you mean she's lying? What exactly happened out there?" His tone is still calm, but there's a hint of confusion in his voice.
You sigh, feeling the frustration building up in your chest. "She—she faked everything. The crying, the apology, all of it. She's been acting like this for a while now, and I can't just ignore it anymore. She's trying to manipulate you, Jungkook. She's been pushing me and doing everything she can to get close to you, and you don't see it!"
Jungkook's expression hardens, and he shakes his head. "I don't believe that. Duri would never do something like that. Why would she fake something like that?"
You feel a surge of anger, frustration flooding your senses. "Because she's jealous, Jungkook! She's trying to make me look bad, trying to make you feel sorry for her. She's always been like this, and I'm sick of it. Why can't you see it?"
Jungkook's eyes narrow slightly, and his voice takes on a more serious tone. "Y/n, you're not making sense. You're telling me she's faking it, but I don't see that. And honestly, this feels like you're just trying to cover up your own feelings. Are you lying about what happened?"
The words hit you like a slap, and the sting of his accusation makes your chest tighten. "What?!" you snap, your voice rising with frustration. "I'm not lying, Jungkook. Why would I lie about something like this?"
Jungkook steps back slightly, running a hand through his hair, clearly caught in his own confusion. "I don't know. But this whole thing doesn't add up. You're upset, and now you're saying she faked everything. I don't know who to believe."
The words sting harder than you expected. The hurt from Jungkook's doubt starts to push you to the edge. "You can't be serious right now. I'm not lying about how I feel. You're the one who doesn't see what's going on. You're the one who's blind to it."
Jungkook steps forward, his expression softening, but you're too angry now to let it go. "I'm not blind to it, Y/n. I just... I need to understand what's going on. But right now, I feel like you're pushing me away, accusing Duri of something that doesn't make sense."
"Because you don't see it! You don't see how she's manipulating everything, how she's trying to make herself the center of your attention. She's doing it on purpose!"
Jungkook stands there, unsure of what to say, his face conflicted. "I just... I need time to process all this. I'm not saying you're wrong, but this is a lot for me to take in."
Your heart aches as you stare at him, feeling like the distance between you two is growing by the second. "Fine," you say through clenched teeth, your voice shaking. "But don't come to me later when it all falls apart. I'm trying to protect us."
Jungkook watches you for a long moment, his eyes filled with regret. He wants to say something, but nothing comes out. Instead, he just stands there, silent.
You can't take it anymore. You turn away, walking toward the door. "I'll be outside," you say quietly, your voice filled with frustration.
As you step out of the room, you feel a pang in your chest, knowing things aren't as simple as they used to be. You want to trust him, but it feels like everything is slipping through your fingers, and no matter how hard you try to explain, it's not enough.
Jungkook stands frozen, watching you walk away, a mix of frustration and confusion swirling inside him. He curses under his breath, feeling the tension between you two like a heavy weight on his chest. He knows he's stuck in the middle, torn between the two of you, and it's only making everything worse.
He watches as you step out of the room, not trying to stop you. He wants to call after you, to explain himself, but he knows it's not the right moment. He knows the best thing to do right now is give you both space, even though it's killing him inside. Maybe time will help ease the situation—give you both time to think and cool off.But in the pit of his stomach, he can't shake the feeling that he's losing you.
You sit on your bed, rubbing your stomach gently, still trying to calm the overwhelming emotions. You couldn't understand why Duri was going to such lengths, trying to manipulate things and stir up conflict. The baby shifts, and you take a deep breath, trying to refocus. "Why her?" you murmur softly, feeling the weight of the situation. You just wanted peace, but it seemed like every time you turned around, something else came up.
You take a deep breath, pushing all the frustration aside. If Jungkook wants to believe her, then that's on him, you think. You grab your favorite oversized sweater and leggings, changing into something more comfortable to try to shake off the tension. You turn on the TV, hoping to distract yourself, but the nagging thoughts about Duri and Jungkook keep circling in your mind.
As you flip through channels, you find yourself unable to fully focus on anything. The silence in the room is almost too much, and the more you try to ignore it, the more the situation weighs on you.
You sigh, feeling the weight of the situation, and decide not to go downstairs for dinner. The thought of seeing Duri hovering around Jungkook, acting like everything's fine, is too much to bear right now. Instead, you stay in your room, hoping for a little peace and quiet away from it all.
You curl up on the bed, pulling the blanket over yourself, and let your thoughts wander, trying to avoid the chaos downstairs. It's hard to shake the frustration, but at least here, in your room, you have some control over the situation. You just hope things settle soon, because this tension is unbearable.
The door swung open softly, and to your surprise, Jungkook walked in with a plate of food and a drink in his hands. The atmosphere was tense, and you could feel the awkwardness between you both, but his words caught you off guard.
"I know things are... weird right now," Jungkook said, setting the plate down on the nightstand beside you. He hesitated for a moment, his gaze gentle but filled with concern. "But you need to eat. I care about you, Y/n. I don't want you shutting me out."
He looked at you, his voice softening. "I know it's been a lot, but we need to talk. I'm here for you, okay?" His eyes were filled with sincerity, and for a moment, it seemed like he truly wanted to bridge the distance between you two.
He stands there for a moment, shifting awkwardly. "I care about you, Y/n," he continues, his words sincere but laced with uncertainty. "I don't want us to fight. Please, let's talk about this."
He hesitates, clearly unsure of what to say next. "I'm not trying to take any side, I just... I don't want this to break us."
You looked to your side, staring at the fresh bibimbap he had brought for you, steam still rising from the rice and vegetables. The smell was comforting, but you couldn't shake the heaviness in your chest. You didn't want to be stubborn, but the situation had drained you, and it all just came out when you avoided his gaze.
"I'm not hungry," you muttered, your voice quiet but firm as you turned your head the other way, trying to shield yourself from his gaze.
Jungkook sighed, clearly frustrated but trying to keep his calm. "Y/n," he said softly, his tone edged with concern. "I'm not here to make things harder. I just want to make sure you're okay. You don't have to shut me out."
He stood there for a moment, waiting for a response, but you kept your silence, unsure of what to say or how to feel.
Without a thought, Jungkook sat down beside you, his presence warm and steady. Gently, he used his thumb to move your head, guiding you to face him. His gaze was soft but filled with concern, his eyes searching yours as if trying to read your thoughts.
"Y/n," he said quietly, his voice full of care. "Talk to me. I know something's wrong, and I can see it's tearing you apart. I just need to know what's really going on. I'm here for you."
His thumb lightly brushed against your cheek, a silent plea for you to let him in, for you to trust him with the weight of your feelings.
Your heart raced as the silence stretched between you and Jungkook, his gaze steady on yours. The air seemed thick with tension, and you could feel every beat of your heart in your chest. You searched his face, looking for any signs of doubt or certainty.
Breaking the silence, you asked, your voice quieter than you intended, "Do you believe what she said?"
Jungkook's expression faltered slightly as he bit his lip, clearly thinking of the right words. His hesitation only made you more anxious. But before he could respond, you already knew—his unsure demeanor told you everything you needed to know.
"You do, don't you?" you whispered, your voice tinged with frustration and hurt. You could feel the weight of the situation settling in your chest, but the words slipped out before you could stop them.
Jungkook's hand gripped your wrist before you could move, gently but firmly pulling you back onto the bed. His body hovered above yours, his face just inches from yours. The tension between you both felt palpable, but he didn't let go of you. His gaze softened, and there was an urgency in his voice when he spoke.
"I don't care about the situation, Y/n," he said, his words laced with sincerity. "If you want, I'll let it go. I'll forget about it... for you. For us."
You felt his thumb softly stroke your wrist as he held you in place, his eyes searching yours. "I just want us to be okay, okay?" His tone was steady, calm, but there was an underlying vulnerability in his voice that made your heart ache.
The way he said "us" made you pause, your emotions swirling. You felt a wave of relief mixed with confusion—he was willing to move past everything, just for you both. It was more than you expected, but it made you realize how much he cared.
You looked into his eyes, feeling his warmth as he leaned in closer, awaiting your response.
Jungkook didn't hesitate. Without a second of doubt, he pulled you into a deep, meaningful kiss, his hands gently cupping your face as he caressed your cheek. You could feel the tenderness in his touch, the way his thumb lightly brushed over your skin, as if he was trying to convey everything he couldn't say with words. The kiss was slow, heartfelt, as if the world outside had disappeared and it was just the two of you.
As you both pulled away, breathless, you looked at him, your heart racing. His lips glistened with your lip gloss, a reminder of the intimate moment you just shared. The air felt charged between you two, the weight of everything lifting, replaced by a silent understanding. You saw his eyes soften, filled with something deep—care, affection, and maybe even a little bit of relief.
You didn't need to speak. The kiss had said everything. He wanted you, and he was ready to move forward, leaving the past and all the complications behind. For the first time in what felt like forever, there was nothing but clarity between you.
Jungkook's words tumbled out in a rush, his voice filled with sincerity. "Look, I don't know what happened with Duri, and honestly, I'm still trying to figure it out. But what I do know is that I'm here for you. I'll stay by your side, support you, make sure you're okay, because you're mine and you mean everything to me. I—"
Before he could keep rambling, you reached up and cupped his face, pulling him into another kiss, this time soft but teasing, stopping his words in the most effective way. You smiled into the kiss as you felt him smile too, a little chuckle escaping his lips.
You pulled away, keeping your hands on his face as you gently shook your head. "You're cute when you ramble, but you're also right—now stop talking and just be here with me," you said, a playful yet affectionate tone in your voice.
He blinked at you, his smile wide and relieved. "Fine, I'll shut up," he said with a chuckle, clearly more than happy to just be with you.
Jungkook gently sat you up, making sure you were comfortable before he grabbed the plate of food and the chopsticks. He smiled at you, his eyes full of affection, and then carefully fed you a bite of the delicious meal, watching you as you took it in.
"You need to eat, baby," he said softly, his voice filled with concern as he handed you another bite, his hands steady as he held the chopsticks.
You looked up at him, appreciating the gesture, even though the tension from earlier still lingered. "You really don't have to do this, you know," you said, your voice quieter, but with a smile tugging at your lips.
"I know," he replied with a small grin, "but I want to. You're important to me honey."
He continued to feed you, the two of you sharing quiet, intimate moments as the food between you made the space feel a little warmer. Even though things were still a bit unresolved, having him here with you, caring for you, made everything feel a little more bearable.
That night felt different. As you slept, Jungkook held you closer than ever before, his arms wrapped around you protectively, his warmth a comforting presence. He kissed you softly, repeatedly, as though trying to reassure you of his love and his commitment, each kiss a reminder that you meant everything to him.
His hand gently caressed your stomach, as if silently acknowledging the bond between the two of you, and the life you were bringing into the world. It was a small but powerful gesture, filled with tenderness, love, and care. His touch was soft, reverent even, as if trying to give you all the comfort you deserved, and more.
In the quiet of the night, you could feel how much he cared for you, and how much he was willing to fight for your happiness and peace of mind. Despite the turbulence of the day, in this moment, you felt loved and cherished.
As Jungkook held you close, he whispered softly into the quiet room, "I love you," his words barely audible, but full of sincerity. He kissed your cheek gently, his lips lingering for a brief moment before he pulled away, his thumb brushing over your cheek in a sweet, tender gesture.
With a soft sigh, he settled back into bed, keeping his arm around you as he drifted off to sleep, content in knowing that you were safe in his arms. The warmth of his presence was all you needed as you closed your eyes, feeling more at peace than you had all day.
The morning light filtered softly through the curtains as you woke up bright and early, feeling surprisingly calm and at peace. There was something about today that made everything feel a little lighter. You stretched, your muscles still sore from the previous day's tension, but there was a sense of optimism in the air. The thought of heading to Taehyung's party gave you a fresh burst of energy. You smiled to yourself, deciding to make the most of today.
Sitting in front of your vanity, you picked up the straightener and ran it through your hair, the familiar motions of getting ready offering a sense of normalcy. You took a deep breath, reminding yourself to stay calm and avoid letting any negativity or drama get in the way of your day. You were determined not to let Duri's actions affect you today. It was a day for you to enjoy, to surround yourself with people who cared about you, and to have fun.
As you focused on straightening each strand, you couldn't help but reflect on the tension from the past few days. Despite everything, you were still holding onto the love and support you had with Jungkook. Today would be different. You wouldn't let anything or anyone ruin your mood.
When you finished with your hair, you glanced at yourself in the mirror. You looked good, felt good, and for once, you weren't letting the weight of others' actions dictate your happiness. You smiled at your reflection, determined to make the most of the day ahead.
Taehyung's party was just what you needed. A chance to relax, have fun, and forget about the things that had been weighing on you. After all, you deserved a break from the drama. Today was about you, your friends, and having a good time. And nothing, not even Duri, was going to take that away from you.
You stand in front of the mirror, taking in your outfit with satisfaction. The dress you're wearing is a light blue, flowing piece, featuring a low-cut front that adds a touch of elegance with its soft plunge. The fabric is smooth and delicate, draping beautifully across your body. The back of the dress is even more striking, designed like a cape that flows gracefully down your back, giving the dress a bold yet refined look. The edges of the cape have a subtle, soft wave, making it look effortlessly chic and sophisticated. You feel confident and ready, admiring the way the dress hugs your figure while still leaving room for movement.
As you admire yourself, you hear the door open, and your eyes shift to the mirror. Jungkook's reflection appears behind you, his gaze immediately locking onto yours. He smirks, his eyes trailing from your head down to the dress, clearly impressed. He walks toward you, his steps steady, and as he stands behind you, the air between you two feels electric.
As Jungkook stands behind you, his gaze lingering on your reflection, you can feel his presence growing closer. His eyes soften as they trail from the top of your head down to the contours of your body, and you notice his attention landing on your chest.
You turn slightly to face him, a small smile tugging at your lips as you catch him staring. "It's normal for them to grow," you say with a playful tone, trying to make light of the situation. The words, however, carry a layer of comfort, knowing it's a natural part of the process.
He looks up at you with a soft chuckle, meeting your eyes again. "I know," he says, his voice low and warm, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. The playful tension between you two eases, but the moment still lingers as his hands rest lightly at his sides, his gaze never leaving you.
Jungkook's eyes soften as he admires you, his voice low and sincere as he compliments you. "You look absolutely beautiful, Y/n," he says, his words full of admiration. "I don't think I'll ever get used to how stunning you are."
Before you can respond, he steps closer, his warmth radiating as he gently pulls you into him. His arms wrap around you, holding you close as his cologne envelops you—an intoxicating mix of musk and freshness that fills the space between you both. You close your eyes for a brief moment, taking in the scent that always makes you feel safe and cherished.
He rests his chin on the top of your head, his arms tightening around you slightly. "I'm lucky," he murmurs, pressing a soft kiss to your hair. You can feel his heart beating in sync with yours, and the simple, intimate moment makes everything feel just right.
As Jungkook's lips trail soft, wet kisses down your neck, you can feel the warmth of his breath and the sensation of his lips sending shivers down your spine. You instinctively tilt your head to give him more room, but a part of you is distracted—your gaze shifts to the door of the closet, which is slightly ajar.
The realization hits you. The door is unlocked. You can't help but feel a sudden rush of tension, wondering if anyone might walk by or even overhear what's happening. You shift slightly, trying to subtly adjust yourself, but Jungkook continues, not noticing your shift in focus.
He's lost in the moment, his hands gently tracing your back, as he plants another kiss just below your ear, his touch sending heat through your body. You bite your lip, trying to keep your composure and suppress the noises threatening to escape. The situation is both intoxicating and a little nerve-wracking.
As Jungkook's lips trail down your neck, he murmurs soft praises between each kiss.
"You're so beautiful," he whispers against your skin, his voice deep and full of admiration. "You drive me crazy, you know that?" His hands roam your sides, tracing the curves of your body as he presses himself closer to you.
He moves lower, leaving a lingering kiss on your collarbone before his lips find the sensitive spot near your shoulder. "Every time I see you, you get even more gorgeous," he breathes, his voice laced with desire. His fingers ghost over the fabric of your dress, gripping your waist gently.
You shiver under his touch, but the slightly open door lingers in the back of your mind. You try to stay composed, but Jungkook makes it difficult when he tilts your chin, making you meet his gaze in the mirror. His dark eyes are filled with something deep, something undeniably possessive.
"You have no idea how hard it is to keep my hands off you," he smirks, his lips finding your jawline before trailing down again. "Especially when you look like this."
You smooth your hands over the fabric of your dress, feeling the soft material hug your body just right. Still, your eyes drift down to your stomach, round and unmistakably pregnant.
"Does this make me look fat?" you mumble, your fingers tracing the curve of your belly. "Or just... obviously pregnant?" There's no hiding it anymore—not that you wanted to, but something about the way the dress clings to your form makes you wonder.
Jungkook, standing behind you, lets out a quiet chuckle. His hands slide over yours, holding your belly with warmth and familiarity. "Obviously pregnant," he says, his voice gentle. "And absolutely gorgeous."
You glance at him through the mirror, watching as he tilts his head slightly, admiring you in a way that makes your heart flutter.
His grip tightens slightly as he pulls you closer. "You have no idea how much I love seeing you like this," he murmurs against your shoulder. "Holding our baby. Wearing this." He presses a soft kiss behind your ear, his breath warm against your skin.
The moment is complicated—there's so much between you two, so much left unsaid. But right now, with Jungkook holding you like this, looking at you like you're the most breathtaking thing he's ever seen, you feel nothing but adored.
Although you really didn't want this to end, you knew it had to. As much as you loved the way Jungkook held you, the way his lips moved against your skin, the way he made you feel like the most beautiful person in the world—you couldn't afford to lose track of time.
With a soft sigh, you place your hand over his, giving it a gentle squeeze before turning to face him. "We can't be late," you remind him, your voice softer than intended. "And the door isn't even locked."
Jungkook groans dramatically, dropping his head onto your shoulder. "Who cares?" he mumbles, nuzzling into your neck. "Let them see. Let them know you're mine."
You roll your eyes, though you can't help but smile. "Jungkook."
He lifts his head, eyes filled with mischief as he grins. "Fine, fine." He steps back slightly, but not before giving you one last lingering kiss, slow and deep, like he's making sure you feel every ounce of adoration he has for you.
When he finally lets go, you shake your head, trying to compose yourself. "Now hurry up and get ready," you say, pretending to scold him. "We're going to be late to Taehyung's."
Jungkook smirks, walking toward his side of the closet. "You're the one who distracted me."
You throw a pillow at him. "I hate you."
He catches it easily, laughing. "No, you don't."
You shake your head, smiling despite yourself. No, you didn't. Not even close.
You take a deep breath, mentally preparing yourself as you make your way downstairs. The last thing you wanted was to let Duri get under your skin today. Today was supposed to be a good day.
But as soon as you reached the bottom of the stairs, there she was—dressed and ready to go. And, you had to admit, she looked sexy. The dress she wore hugged her body perfectly, her hair styled just right, and her makeup effortlessly flawless. It was frustrating how put-together she always looked, but you weren't about to let that shake you.
You kept your expression neutral, not wanting to give her the satisfaction of any reaction. Instead, you focused on adjusting your own dress, subtly making sure you still felt confident in your look.
Duri glanced at you, her lips curling into a small, knowing smirk. "Oh," she mused, eyes scanning your dress. "You look... different."
You met her gaze, tilting your head slightly. "Different?" you repeated, arching a brow.
She chuckled, crossing her arms. "Yeah. More, I don't know... bold?" Her eyes flickered to your stomach for a split second before she met your gaze again. "It's a look."
You weren't stupid. You knew exactly what she was implying. But you weren't going to let her have the upper hand. You smiled sweetly. "Thanks. I figured I should dress up, considering we're going to Taehyung's. You know, put in effort." You let your eyes scan her outfit. "Looks like you did the same."
Duri's smirk faltered just a bit, but before she could say anything, Jungkook came down the stairs, looking effortlessly good in his casual yet stylish outfit. His eyes immediately landed on you, and for a moment, everything else faded.
"Damn," he murmured, stepping closer. "You look still incredible."
You felt your cheeks warm slightly, but before you could respond, Duri let out a soft laugh. "You always say that," she teased, her voice light but her eyes watching you closely.
Jungkook barely glanced at her. "Because she always does," he replied smoothly, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you into his side. And just like that, Duri's smirk was gone.
As you stepped outside, you instinctively moved toward the front passenger seat, expecting to sit beside Jungkook. But before you could even reach for the handle, Duri had already slipped in, fastening her seatbelt like she belonged there.
You paused for a moment, narrowing your eyes slightly before glancing at Jungkook. He met your gaze and shrugged, giving you a look that silently said, Just let her sit there.
Your jaw clenched, but you didn't say anything. You weren't about to start an argument over something as small as a car seat—especially not with her. Instead, you exhaled slowly, rolling your eyes as you opened the back door and got in.
As Jungkook started the car, Duri turned slightly in her seat, glancing back at you with that ever-present smirk. "Hope you don't mind," she said, tilting her head innocently. "I get car sick in the back."
You forced a tight smile, crossing your legs and resting your hands on your lap. "Oh, not at all," you said sweetly. "I'd hate for you to feel uncomfortable."
Jungkook sighed, clearly sensing the tension but choosing to stay out of it. Instead, he focused on driving, his fingers drumming lightly against the steering wheel.
The car ride felt longer than it should have, with Duri occasionally making conversation, laughing a little too much at Jungkook's comments, and subtly finding ways to touch his arm. But you? You sat back, hands resting protectively on your stomach, reminding yourself that no matter how much she tried, she wasn't the one he went home to at the end of the day.And that was enough to keep you calm.
As soon as the car came to a stop, Jungkook stepped out first, walking around to your side and opening the door for you. His hand instinctively reached out, helping you step out carefully. You adjusted your dress, smoothing it over your stomach before letting him guide you toward the house.
The moment you stepped inside, the air buzzed with lively conversation and laughter. The place was packed—people you recognized, others you didn't, all mingling, drinking, and having a good time. The unfamiliarity of the crowd made you shift closer to Jungkook, your fingers grazing his arm in silent reassurance.
He noticed, looking down at you with a small smirk. "You okay?" he asked, voice low enough for only you to hear.
You nodded, glancing around. "Just... a lot of people," you admitted.
Jungkook chuckled, placing a comforting hand on your lower back. "You'll be fine," he assured you. "Taehyung probably invited half the city, but there's good food and drinks, and you know Mina's here somewhere."
At the mention of your best friend, you perked up slightly, scanning the room. Still, your feet stayed planted next to Jungkook's. You weren't exactly in the mood to wander off just yet, especially with Duri still lingering around somewhere.
Jungkook seemed to pick up on your hesitation. Without a word, he shifted closer, keeping his hand on your back as if silently telling you he wasn't going anywhere. And honestly? That was all you needed to relax a little.
The second Mina spotted you, she didn't hesitate—she ran straight over, practically tackling you in a hug. You let out a surprised laugh, hugging her back as she swayed you side to side.
"I've been looking for you!" she said excitedly, pulling away to get a good look at you. "Damn, you look good! You're glowing."
You chuckled, smoothing down your dress. "Thanks, babe. You look hot, as always."
"I know," she joked, flipping her hair dramatically before looping her arm through yours.
Jungkook stood beside you, watching your interaction with a small amused smile. Mina gave him a nod in greeting before turning back to you.
"So, what's this party even for?" you asked, glancing around at all the guests. "Taehyung just felt like throwing one?"
Mina scoffed. "Nah, he just got a huge promotion or something. Honestly, I didn't listen to half of what he was saying—I just heard 'party' and showed up."
You laughed, shaking your head. That sounded like Mina.
"Well, good for him," you said, scanning the crowd. "Where is he, anyway?"
Mina shrugged. "Probably running around being the life of the party. You know how he is."
Jungkook's hand pressed lightly against your back. "You wanna go find him, or do you wanna sit for a bit?"
Before you could answer, Mina smirked. "Ooooh, so attentive. Jungkook, you're really trying to keep her close tonight, huh?"
Jungkook rolled his eyes, but you caught the way his fingers curled slightly at your waist, as if confirming that, yes, he was.And honestly? You didn't mind one bit.
You think for a second, glancing at Jungkook. He was standing close, his hand resting protectively at your waist, his eyes scanning the party like he was making sure you were okay.
As much as you loved having him by your side, you felt a little bad. This was his friend's party, and instead of dancing, drinking, and enjoying himself, he was stuck babysitting you.
You nudged him lightly. "You don't have to stay glued to me all night," you told him with a small smile. "Go have fun, drink, dance—whatever. I'll be fine."
Jungkook looked at you, his brows slightly furrowed. "You sure?"
Mina snorted, crossing her arms. "Yeah, she's sure. I'm here, you know. She won't be alone."
Jungkook exhaled, still hesitating, but then you reached up and gave his arm a squeeze. "Go," you urged softly. "I promise I won't disappear."
He studied your face for a moment longer before sighing. "Alright," he said reluctantly. "But if you need me—"
"I'll call you," you finished for him, laughing. "Go."
Jungkook finally cracked a small smile before leaning down, pressing a soft kiss to your temple. "Alright, don't miss me too much."
You rolled your eyes playfully, watching as he walked off to where Taehyung and the guys were, already being handed a drink.
Mina nudged you. "You're kinda cute together, you know that?"
You smiled, sipping your drink. "Yeah... I know."
Mina took a sip of her drink before side-eyeing you. "So... what's going on with that thing?" she asked, clearly referring to Duri.
You sighed, already feeling the irritation creeping in at just the mention of her name. "She's still hanging around," you muttered, shifting your weight. "Still acting like she owns the place. Still getting under my skin."
Mina raised a brow. "And Jungkook?"
You pursed your lips, looking over at where he was with Taehyung, laughing at something. "He's... trying to keep the peace, I guess. I don't think he fully gets how manipulative she is."
Mina scoffed. "Of course he doesn't. That girl has him wrapped around her little finger, and it's disgusting." She crossed her arms. "Didn't you say she pulled some dramatic stunt the other day?"
You groaned, rubbing your temple. "Yeah, and guess who fell for it?"
Mina deadpanned. "No."
You nodded. "Oh yeah. She poured water on herself, knocked over her own stuff, and made it look like I snapped on her. And Jungkook..." you sighed. "He didn't accuse me, but he definitely didn't defend me either."
Mina rolled her eyes so hard you thought she might pass out. "That's insane. And you let her get away with that?"
You gave her a look. "What was I supposed to do? Fight her in the backyard?"
Mina clicked her tongue. "I would've."
You laughed, shaking your head. "Of course, you would."
She glanced around before leaning in. "Okay, but seriously. How much longer are you gonna let this go on? Because if you don't do something, she's just gonna keep pushing it."
You knew she was right. But for now, you just wanted to enjoy the party. "Let's just not talk about her," you said, forcing a smile. "Tonight's supposed to be fun."
Mina sighed dramatically. "Fine. But if she tries something tonight, I'm throwing my drink on her."
You snorted. "I'd pay to see that."
The night was going along fine. You and Mina sat comfortably on a couch, chatting and people-watching while the party carried on around you. It wasn't a wild, chaotic party—just a laid-back gathering with music, drinks, and people enjoying themselves. Some were dancing, others were deep in conversation, and a few were just lounging like you two, taking in the atmosphere.
You were actually having a good time, sipping on a non-alcoholic drink Mina had brought you, laughing at her dramatic reenactments of something stupid Taehyung had done earlier.
Then, as if the universe just couldn't let you be at peace, you caught a glimpse of her.
Duri was standing a few feet away, talking to some people, but what made your stomach churn was how she was standing—close, too close, to Jungkook. Her hand rested lightly on his arm as she laughed at something he said, and although he wasn't exactly entertaining her touch, he also wasn't moving away.
Mina noticed the shift in your expression immediately. "Oh, hell no," she muttered, following your gaze.
You took a deep breath, trying to shake it off. "I'm not gonna let her ruin my night."
Mina smirked. "Oh, I know. Because I will."
You watched Jungkook carefully—his usually sharp eyes were a little hazy, his posture looser than usual. It was weird. Jungkook could usually handle his liquor well, barely even getting tipsy on nights out. But tonight? He looked buzzed, maybe even a little drunk.
It was funny in a way, watching him grin lazily at something someone said, his dimples deepening as he nodded along to the conversation. Mina nudged you. "I swear, I've never seen him like this. Who got him drinking?"
Before you could respond, a voice suddenly interrupted.
"Hey there, ladies."
You turned your head, meeting the warm smile of a guy you didn't recognize. He was handsome—broad shoulders, sharp eyes, and a confident yet friendly presence. He held out a hand. "Kim Seokjin," he introduced himself. "But you can call me Jin."
Mina gave him a once-over, intrigued. "Mina," she replied, shaking his hand.
You shook his hand next, offering a small smile. "Y/n."
"Ah," Jin nodded, eyes twinkling with amusement as he gestured toward Jungkook. "And that guy over there? I'm guessing he's your Jungkook?"
You raised an eyebrow. "My Jungkook?"
Jin chuckled. "I mean, he's been stealing glances at you all night—even while Miss Clingy over there is hanging off his arm." His tone was lighthearted, but there was a knowing look in his eyes.
Jin smirked, leaning slightly closer as if he were about to share a secret. "You know," he started, swirling the drink in his hand, "Jungkook's been going around all night talking about his girlfriend. Saying how hot she is, how she's the most beautiful woman in the world." He chuckled, shaking his head. "Kept saying your name over and over. Y/n this, Y/n that. So naturally, I had to come see for myself."
Mina snorted, nudging you playfully. "Well, damn. He's drunk and obsessed."
You felt warmth creep up your neck, trying to fight the small smile forming on your lips. Of course, Jungkook would be out here drunk and bragging about you to everyone. Typical. You glanced toward him again, watching as he laughed at something Taehyung said, but even then, you caught it—the way his eyes flickered toward you like he couldn't help himself.
Jin followed your gaze, grinning. "Yep. Completely whipped."
You watch as Jungkook stumbles over to another person, laughing loudly at whatever they were saying. It was rare to see him this tipsy—he usually had a high tolerance. You and Mina exchange a look before nodding in agreement.
"Yeah, maybe it's time to wrap up his night before he starts dancing on tables or something," Mina jokes.
With a small sigh, you push yourself up from the couch and make your way toward him. As soon as you reach him, he blinks at you, his dazed eyes lighting up in recognition.
"My girlfriend's here!" he announces proudly, pulling you into him with both arms wrapped tightly around your waist. He leans his forehead against yours, smiling lazily.
You chuckle, smoothing your hand over his arm. "Yes, your girlfriend's here. And she's telling you that maybe it's time to go home."
He groans. "But I was just talking about you! They needed to know how perfect you are."
You shake your head, amused. "I'm sure they know by now, Jungkook."
Before you could guide him toward the door, Jungkook suddenly tightened his grip around you, holding you close. His lips jutted out in an exaggerated pout, his brows furrowed as he looked at you with those big, tipsy eyes.
"Why were you talking to Jin?" he mumbled, voice slightly slurred but still clear enough for you to hear the jealousy laced in it.
You blinked in surprise. Jungkook never pouts. It was so cute that you almost forgot to answer him.
Mina, who was still nearby, snorted. "Oh my God, is Jeon Jungkook pouting right now?"
Jungkook ignored her, staring at you expectantly. You bit back a smile, deciding to tease him a little.
"You mean Kim Seok-jin?" you said, emphasizing his full name.
His pout deepened. "Yes. Why were you talking to Kim Seok-jin?"
You laughed softly, reaching up to cup his face. "Because he came up to introduce himself. He said you kept talking about me, so he wanted to see me in person."
Jungkook hummed, tilting his head into your touch like a needy puppy. "That's true. I did talk about you." He nuzzled into your palm, his pout slowly fading into a goofy smile. "Because you're my girlfriend and you're so pretty."
Mina groaned dramatically. "Alright, I need to get away from this conversation before I throw up."
You giggled, wrapping an arm around Jungkook. "Come on, lover boy. Let's get you home."
Jungkook didn't protest, but as you started walking, he mumbled under his breath, "Still don't like that you talked to Jin..."
As you guided Jungkook toward the exit, Duri was quick on her feet, trailing behind you with his jacket in her hands.
"Jungkook, you forgot this," she said sweetly, stepping up beside him and attempting to drape it over his shoulders.
You stiffened slightly but kept your focus on getting Jungkook out the door. However, Jungkook, still tipsy and completely absorbed in you, barely glanced at her. He lazily shrugged off the jacket she was trying to put on him and instead leaned into you more.
"Don't need it," he mumbled, his arm tightening around your waist. "Y/n's warm."
Duri hesitated, her hand still mid-air, holding the jacket. She glanced between the two of you, her smile faltering for the briefest moment before she quickly recovered. "It's chilly outside," she insisted, her voice light, but there was an undeniable edge to it.
Mina, who was watching from the side, raised an eyebrow but stayed quiet, letting you handle it.
Jungkook, however, only hummed, snuggling into your shoulder dramatically. "I have my girlfriend," he emphasized. "She'll keep me warm."
You could practically feel Duri's annoyance radiating off her, but you didn't acknowledge it. Instead, you smiled to yourself, patting Jungkook's back. "That's right. Let's go home now, okay?"
He nodded happily, letting you lead him away while Duri stood there, still holding his jacket.
You turned to Duri, your tone slightly softer but still direct, "Are you coming with us? You're staying with us tonight, right?"
Duri gave you a bright, almost innocent smile, her eyes flickering between you and Jungkook. "Of course," she said with a soft nod, her voice laced with a calm sweetness that almost seemed practiced. She followed closely behind, her steps quickening to match the pace you and Jungkook set.
Jungkook, still not fully aware of the tension lingering around him, leaned into you a little more, his arm draped lazily over your shoulders. You could feel his warmth, but also a subtle shift in the air, like he was oblivious to the unspoken friction between you and Duri.
As you led the way outside, you couldn't help but glance over your shoulder at Duri, her calm demeanor giving nothing away. You weren't sure if she had more up her sleeve or if she was genuinely okay with the arrangement, but you weren't going to let it ruin your night.
"Alright, let's just get home," you muttered to yourself under your breath, ready to just get everyone back to a place where you could at least have some space.
You decided to drive, the car feeling a bit too quiet as Duri sat in the back with Jungkook. The two of them were chatting away, their voices drifting through the air, but there was something off about it. You could hear Duri's laughter, a little too bright, and Jungkook's voice, relaxed but a bit distracted. It was almost as if they were trying to fill the silence with words, but you couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right.
You kept your eyes on the road, trying to focus on the drive, but you couldn't help but steal occasional glances at the rearview mirror. Jungkook seemed at ease, laughing at something Duri had said, but there was that nagging feeling in your chest. Why did everything feel so off lately?
The rest of the drive was filled with small talk and laughter from the back seat, but it only served to make you feel more distant. You wanted to shake off the feeling, to focus on being calm and not overthinking, but it was harder than you expected with Duri so close by.
You pulled into the driveway, the night air cool as you parked the car. Turning off the engine, you let out a quiet sigh. Tonight was definitely more complicated than you'd planned.
You suddenly felt a wave of nausea wash over you, your stomach tightening. You knew you needed to get away for a moment. Turning to Duri, you gave her a strained smile, trying to mask your discomfort.
"Hey, could you help Jungkook inside? He's still tipsy, and I need to... do something for a bit," you said, your voice a little shaky as you made up an excuse.
Duri raised an eyebrow but nodded, seeming to accept your request without question. "Sure, no problem," she said, her voice almost too eager as she grabbed Jungkook's arm to help him inside.
You didn't wait for a response, turning quickly to head towards the house. As soon as you were inside, you moved as quickly as you could, making sure no one could see the way your body was reacting to the sudden wave of sickness. You needed a moment to breathe, to collect yourself. You couldn't deal with this right now, not with Duri around, and certainly not with everything else swirling in your mind.
You sighed heavily, standing at the sink after washing your hands, the lingering taste of sickness still in your mouth. You felt the familiar wave of pregnancy nausea, the kind that always caught you off guard. It wasn't the first time, but it never got easier.
Staring at your reflection in the mirror, you muttered to yourself, "Pregnancy sickness for sure..." You took a deep breath, trying to steady your racing heartbeat, wiping your face with a towel.
You didn't want to let anyone see you like this, especially not Jungkook. You just needed a moment to recover before heading back out. You glanced at your phone, wondering if Duri was still helping Jungkook inside. Hopefully, you could get through the rest of the night without any more drama.
Duri struggled a bit as she helped Jungkook inside, his steps unsteady from the alcohol. He was laughing softly, clearly tipsy, as she led him to the couch. Once he sat down, he lay back, letting out a relaxed sigh. Duri stood by, watching him with a smile that seemed a bit too amused, her eyes glinting as she watched him.
Jungkook mumbled something, still half in his tipsy state, not fully aware of his surroundings. "You're so beautiful, Y/n," he said with a lazy grin, causing Duri to laugh softly under her breath.
She shook her head but didn't say anything, choosing instead to sit across from him and watch as he drifted in and out of his hazy state.
Duri looked at Jungkook, her eyes searching his face for any sign of something deeper, before she asked, "Jungkook, do you ever miss me?"
Jungkook, still a bit tipsy, blinked at her, momentarily confused by the sudden question. He shifted on the couch, trying to sit up a little more, and with a slight frown, he replied, "What do you mean? Of course, I miss you. You're my best friend."
Duri's lips curved into a small smile, though her eyes remained thoughtful, almost as if she were weighing his words carefully. She leaned back slightly in the chair, her gaze never leaving him. "Best friend, huh?" she said, almost to herself.
Jungkook looked at her, clearly still processing, but his expression softened as he tried to focus. "Yeah, you've always been my best friend, Duri. Why?"
She didn't immediately respond, instead, she just studied him quietly, her smile lingering.
Duri leaned forward slightly, her eyes locking onto his with an intensity that felt almost too direct. "What do you like about me, Jungkook?" she asked, her voice low and curious.
Before he could even open his mouth to answer, she interrupted with a teasing grin. "Wait, you always say I'm not your type. So, what is it exactly that you like about me?" Her tone was playful, but there was something else in her eyes, a glimmer of expectation.
Jungkook blinked at her, clearly caught off guard by the sudden shift in conversation. He scratched the back of his neck, unsure of how to respond. "Uh, I mean... you're my friend, Duri. I like... you're funny, and you've always been there for me."
Duri raised an eyebrow, as if analyzing his answer. "That's it? Just 'you're my friend'?" She leaned back in her seat, crossing her arms, her eyes narrowing playfully but with an edge. "You're not even going to say something about how I'm attractive or anything?"
Jungkook shifted uncomfortably on the couch, realizing he had no idea where this conversation was going. "You're... you're definitely attractive, Duri. But it's not like that between us."
Duri let out a small, almost amused sigh, her eyes flickering with a mix of frustration and something else. "I know. I just wanted to hear you say it."
Jungkook was silent for a moment, the air between them feeling heavy, before he finally added, "I'm with Y/n now. I don't want anything to mess that up." His voice was firm, and there was a certain finality to it.
Duri's eyes glinted as she rolled them, a smirk playing at her lips. "Y/n, huh?" she muttered, her tone dripping with something almost mocking. "She's always there for you, huh? Stays by your side every day, right? I mean, that's nice and all, but don't you think you're missing something here, Jungkook?"
Jungkook frowned, the weight of her words slowly sinking in. "What do you mean?"
Duri leaned in a bit closer, her voice softer but with a subtle edge. "I just think you can't see it, but you and I—" She paused, letting the implication hang in the air for a moment. "—we're meant to be. Not you and Y/n."
Jungkook blinked, confusion flickering in his eyes as he processed what she was trying to imply. His brow furrowed as he slowly shook his head. "Duri, what are you trying to say? You know I'm with Y/n, and I care about her. We're happy."
Duri leaned back, crossing her arms and watching him closely, her expression calm but intense. "I'm just saying... sometimes people don't see what's right in front of them. And maybe you're blinded by what you think is supposed to be." She let out a quiet, almost dismissive laugh. "But it's okay. You'll see it eventually. I'm sure of it."
Jungkook felt a sinking feeling in his stomach, the weight of Duri's words making him feel uneasy. He tried to brush it off, but the doubt was starting to gnaw at him. He looked at her, then quickly turned away, his mind trying to process everything she'd just said. "Duri, I'm with Y/n. Please stop."
Duri watched him, her gaze unwavering. She had said what she needed to, and now it was up to him to either listen or keep pretending everything was fine.
Jungkook's body tensed as Duri groaned, practically throwing herself into him, clutching his shirt tightly. He froze, unsure of what to do as she looked up at him, eyes full of emotion. "Jungkook," she whispered, voice trembling slightly. "I've waited so long for you to see it. For you to see that we belong together. Don't you see? Y/n doesn't deserve you the way I do. She's always been there, but she doesn't get you like I do. I'm the one who's always been here for you."
Her words cut through the silence, and Jungkook's mind raced. He couldn't comprehend what was happening. He could feel his heart pounding, his breath catching in his throat. Duri's face was so close to his, and her grip on his shirt made it hard to breathe. He didn't know what to think.
"Duri, I..." He shook his head, his voice faltering. "I don't know what you're trying to do, but I'm with Y/n. I care about her. I don't want you like that."
But Duri didn't let go. She leaned in closer, pressing herself against him, the weight of her body pushing him back slightly. Her eyes were desperate, pleading. "You're with her, but you're not really with her, Jungkook. You've been holding back, not seeing what's right in front of you. I'm the one who knows you best. I'm the one who's been here, supporting you."
Jungkook's heart raced faster, but something inside him finally snapped. He gently, but firmly, pushed her off, his expression conflicted but resolute. "No, Duri," he said quietly, his voice trembling with the force of his emotions. "I love Y/n. Not you."
Duri stared at him, eyes wide with disbelief, her expression unreadable for a moment before it flickered with hurt. She backed away slowly, her gaze never leaving his face. "So, you're really going to choose her? After everything? You're just going to forget how I've been there for you?"
Jungkook stood up, feeling the weight of the situation crash down on him. He rubbed his temples, trying to process everything. "I don't want this. I don't want to hurt you, but I can't do this. I can't be with you like this. I'm with Y/n, and that's where I want to be."
Duri's face twisted with a mix of frustration and sadness, but she didn't say anything else. She just turned, walking away, leaving Jungkook standing there, feeling conflicted, exhausted, and unsure of how to handle everything.
As Duri stands up, her movements quick and determined, she closes the distance between them and presses her lips to Jungkook's. The kiss is sudden and unexpected, and before Jungkook even knows what's happening, he instinctively pulls away, his eyes wide with shock.
But it's too late.
You're standing there, frozen in place, watching the scene unfold in front of you. Your heart stops for a moment as you process what you just saw. Jungkook and Duri, lips still lingering in the air between them. The silence in the room is deafening.
Both of them turn to face you, and for a brief moment, everything feels like it's in slow motion. Duri's expression is unreadable, her lips still glistening from the kiss, while Jungkook looks at you with wide, almost panicked eyes, like he's just realized what has happened.
Your breath catches in your throat, and you can feel your stomach tighten with a mixture of anger, betrayal, and hurt. You try to hold it together, but the emotions are overwhelming. You take a step back, your hands shaking slightly as you force yourself to speak.
"Jungkook... what was that?" Your voice comes out quieter than you expect, but the sting is still there. "I thought you said you wanted to be with me. Was that really nothing?"
Jungkook takes a step forward, his face filled with regret, his voice shaky as he tries to explain. "Y/n, I—I didn't mean for that to happen. It was a mistake, I swear. Duri just—"
But before he can finish, you cut him off, not wanting to hear any excuses.
"No, Jungkook," you say, your voice firmer now, though it still cracks with emotion. "I don't want to hear it. You can't just go and kiss her, and then expect me to believe that it means nothing."
Duri stands there, watching the exchange with an unreadable look, but there's a flicker of something in her eyes—maybe guilt, maybe something else. She doesn't speak, just watches as the tension grows thicker between you and Jungkook.
Jungkook opens his mouth, trying again, but you hold up your hand, silencing him. "Just... just leave me alone right now, okay?" The words are sharp, but you feel the weight of everything crashing down on you, and you need space to process.
Without waiting for a response, you turn and walk out of the room, your heart pounding in your chest.
As you walk quickly, trying to distance yourself from the mess, you hear the sound of footsteps behind you. You try to ignore them, hoping that if you just get away, you can think more clearly. But the steps grow louder, and before you can reach the stairs, you feel a hand gently but firmly grip your arm.
Jungkook's voice is soft but desperate, "Y/n... please, wait."
You turn to face him, your heart pounding, emotions swirling inside you. "Don't Jungkook. Just leave me alone," you say, your voice shaking with a mix of frustration and pain. You try to pull your arm away, but he doesn't let go.
"I'm sorry, okay? I messed up," he says quickly, his face full of regret, his grip tightening slightly as if he's afraid you'll slip away from him completely. "Please just listen."
You take a deep breath, trying to steady yourself. "I don't even know what to think right now. You... you kissed her, Jungkook. You said you loved me. How am I supposed to just pretend that didn't happen?"
He steps closer, his voice cracking. "I know. I know it was wrong, and I didn't mean for it to go that far. But Y/n, it was a mistake. I don't feel that way about her. I only want you. Please, you have to believe me."
Tears well up in your eyes, and you fight them back, turning your face slightly away from him. "Then why did you kiss her, Jungkook? If you don't feel that way about her, why did you let it happen?"
He lets go of your arm, running his hand through his hair, clearly struggling to find the right words. "I didn't... I didn't plan it. Duri... she's been pushing and pushing. I didn't know how to get through to her. I never meant to hurt you."
The sincerity in his voice makes you falter for a moment, but the anger and hurt are still too fresh. "I need some time to think, Jungkook. You can't just erase what happened with an apology."
He nods, stepping back slightly, his eyes full of guilt and sorrow. "I get it. Just... just know I'm not going anywhere. I'll give you the space you need, but I won't give up on us. I can't."
You nod slowly, your heart heavy, not knowing how to process all of this. You turn toward the stairs again, but this time, you feel the weight of the situation a little less overwhelming, knowing that Jungkook is at least willing to give you space. You climb the stairs, trying to figure out what your next steps are, while Jungkook stays behind, watching you, hoping that you'll eventually understand.
Duri's footsteps echo loudly as she hurries up the stairs, her presence a sharp contrast to the quiet tension in the air. Jungkook is a step behind her, reaching out, but it's too late. Duri has already made it to the top of the stairs, standing in your path, her expression a mix of determination and something else you can't quite place.
You stop in your tracks, the annoyance and frustration from earlier resurfacing. "What are you doing here, Duri?" you ask, trying to keep your voice steady, though you can feel the edge in it.
She doesn't hesitate, taking a step closer to you. "I need to talk to you, Y/n," she says, her voice softer than you expected, though still carrying that underlying tension. She looks over her shoulder at Jungkook, who stands at the bottom of the stairs, his expression unreadable, his hands clenched.
Jungkook sighs, his voice carrying up to you. "Duri, not now. Please, just give her some space."
But Duri ignores him, her eyes locked onto yours, a faint smirk playing on her lips. "No, Jungkook, I need to say this. I think Y/n needs to hear it too."
You raise an eyebrow, your patience running thin. "What is it that's so important, Duri? You've already said enough for one night."
Duri steps forward, closing the gap between you, her eyes searching yours with a mix of defiance and frustration. "I know you're hurt, Y/n. But you have to see it. Jungkook and I... we've always been close. And maybe I pushed things too far tonight, but it doesn't change the fact that we've got history. You can't just erase that."
Jungkook's voice is softer now, but still full of urgency. "Duri, stop. This isn't the time—"
But Duri keeps her eyes on you, her words now carrying a different weight. "I'm not trying to take him from you, Y/n. I'm just trying to make you understand that it's not as simple as you think. He's been there for me, and I've been there for him. I've waited a long time for him to see me, but he's always chosen you. And maybe, just maybe, you need to accept that."
You feel your heart racing, a combination of disbelief and anger creeping up on you. "You think I don't know what's going on? You've been trying to get in the way from the start, Duri. You're not going to come between me and him, no matter what you think."
Duri looks almost sad for a moment, her gaze softening. "I don't want to come between you, Y/n. But sometimes, the person you think you're meant to be with might not be the one who's meant for you."
Jungkook steps forward now, his voice firm. "Enough, Duri. Please. I've made my choice. It's always been Y/n, and it always will be. You need to understand that."
The air is thick with tension as you stand there, unsure of how to respond. You can feel your emotions swirling—anger, hurt, confusion—all of it building inside you. You glance back at Jungkook, who stands at the bottom of the stairs, his eyes pleading for you to understand.
Duri, however, is still standing in front of you, her stance unyielding, her eyes locked with yours, as if waiting for you to make some kind of decision.
It feels like the world is on the edge of tipping, and it's up to you to decide which way it's going to fall.
The words come out of your mouth like venom, fueled by every ounce of frustration and anger you've been holding in. "I've been nothing but nice to you, Duri! And this is how you repay me?" You step forward, closing the distance between you, your voice rising with each step, your heart pounding in your chest.
Duri stands over you, her face a mix of anger and something darker, like triumph. She glares at you, her voice cold as she addresses Jungkook. "You can't honestly believe she's the one, can you? After all this time, she's still standing in the way. You don't need her, Jungkook. You need someone who gets you. Someone who's been here for you."
Jungkook moves quickly, trying to step between the two of you, but Duri is faster. With a sharp, calculated movement, she pushes you hard, and before you can brace yourself, you're thrown backward, crashing to the ground.
Pain shoots through you as you land harshly, your stomach twinging with discomfort. You clutch at your stomach instinctively, eyes squeezing shut as you try to ignore the wave of pain that washes over you. It's a sharp, stabbing sensation, the kind that makes your heart skip a beat. You don't know whether it's the fall or the stress, but you can't ignore it.
Jungkook's heart drops to his stomach as he watches you fall, your body hitting the ground with a sickening thud. He doesn't hesitate for a second. His anger spikes, overwhelming everything else as he rushes to your side, kneeling down quickly. His hands are shaking as he gently pulls you into his arms, his eyes darting over you in a panic.
"Y/n... Y/n, please..." His voice is laced with desperation, his breath shallow as he holds you, his eyes scanning your face for any sign of life. He can't understand how things escalated so quickly, how everything went wrong. His thoughts are jumbled, but all he can think about is you, the person he cares about the most.
He looks up, fury flashing in his eyes as he glares at Duri, who stands at the top of the stairs with a smug expression. His fists clench, but his priority right now is you.
"Get out," Jungkook's voice is low, barely controlled. "Get out and never step foot in my life again. I don't ever want to see you again."
Duri stands there for a moment, her expression flickering between defiance and shock. She opens her mouth to speak, but Jungkook cuts her off with a deadly calm, his words sharp as a knife.
"I mean it, Duri. Leave. Now."
There's no hesitation in his voice this time, only the cold finality of someone who's had enough. His focus stays entirely on you, making sure you're okay, but the anger directed at her is undeniable. Duri hesitates for a second longer, but seeing the intensity in his eyes, she scoffs, turning away in defeat before disappearing down the stairs.
Jungkook gently brushes a strand of hair from your face, his eyes filled with concern. "I'm so sorry, Y/n. I'm so sorry this happened," he whispers, his voice breaking slightly. He pulls you a little closer, holding you protectively, his mind racing. "Are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?"
He's trying to stay calm for you, but inside, he's a storm of emotions. He can't believe what just happened. He's angry at Duri for what she did, but all he cares about right now is you and making sure you're alright.
Jungkook's heart pounds in his chest as he watches you cry, clutching your stomach in pain. He's fully sober now, the panic washing over him with full clarity. His body moves on instinct, his only focus being you and the baby. He doesn't think, he doesn't hesitate—he scoops you up into his arms, his grip tight but gentle, trying to ease your discomfort as he rushes out the door.
"Y/n, please stay with me. Just breathe," he murmurs, his voice shaking with a mix of fear and determination. He doesn't care about anything else right now; all that matters is getting you the help you need.
His hands are trembling as he carefully sets you down in the car, doing his best not to jostle you too much. He slides into the driver's seat, his eyes darting to you constantly, making sure you're still okay.
"Please, don't scare me, Y/n..." He grips the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles white with stress. The sound of your pain and his heart racing fills the air as he speeds towards the hospital. His thoughts are a blur, everything focused on you and the baby. He can't lose either of you—not now.
He reaches over, squeezing your hand tightly, his thumb brushing against your skin in a futile attempt to calm both of you. "We're almost there. Just hold on, okay? We're going to be okay. You're strong. I love you so much..."
His voice cracks slightly as he speaks, the gravity of the situation weighing heavily on him. His mind is consumed with nothing but your well-being, praying that the baby is okay, praying that you're okay.
