Chapter 35

23:37, 28 January 2016

*Payton's POV*We get to the cute fro-yo shop down the street, and get inside, to feel a sweet aroma fill our senses. I round the counter, and get to the frozen yogurt stations, and grab a pink cup, as does Kaden. I fill mine about 1/4 way with cake batter, and top it off with sprinkles and cookie dough bites. Kaden also gets cake batter, but uses crushed Reese's and peanut butter sauce over it(pic in media slot idek). We check out, and sit down at a table in the crowded room. It was a big building actually, but there was so many people here, considering the heat wave.

"So the guys were talking about doing the rainbow milk challenge for their youtubes later, you in?" He asks.

"Hmmmm... throw up colored milk on purpose in front of millions of people.. I'm down," I shrug. Why not? I love doing challenges.

"Yeah, since everyone's gonna be doing something for their own channel, prep something for yours if you want, I'm doing the world's hottest sauce challenge, and the others are doing other stuff as well," he explained.

"I've been wanting to do a pranking guys on tinder thing for a while now, you wanna film it with me?"

"Yeah, sounds fun," he smiled. "That guy keeps checking you out from over there," he comments, looking in a direction slightly beside/behind me.

"Jealous, huh?" I wink.

"Well I don't like anyone looking at you like that unless it's me," he smirks.

Out of my rear vision, the guy comes up to our table.

"I couldn't help but notice you, mind if I get your number?" He asks me and I hold back a laugh.

"Fuck off, man, she's mine," Kaden says out of complete jealousy, but remains calm.

"Whatever, you weren't that hot anyways," he rolls his eyes and walks back to where he came from.

Fuckboys at their finest.

I burst out laughing and Kaden looks at me.

"Okay.. maybe a little jealous..." he trails off.

I get up to throw my cup away, and he follows.

"Well you shouldn't be, but I must say.. its kind of adorable," I smirk, giving him a quick kiss.

We walk back to the hotel, as our game's starting in about 2 hours, and we have to arrive early.

We go upstairs and reach our room at the end of the hallway.

"Um, Pay? Do you have the room card by any chance?" He asks me.

"Shit! I left it in the room!" I sigh in frustration. "I'll go down to the lobby and try and get another one," I said. I walked back to the elevators and saw Brooklyn getting into one, going down. I hesitated, but stepped in, shocking him a little. I looked straight ahead, and ignored him completely, waiting for this freaking elevator ride to be over. I think he got the hint that I didn't wanna talk, and left me alone.

It was about the 25th floor, where the elevator stopped, and shook a bit. The lights went out, but the dim emergency light flashed on.

"Great. Fucking great... that's just," I muttered to myself. What did I do? I'm such a good person...

Brooklyn pressed the emergency call button, but I could tell that the power was disconnected to the elevator completely. What now?

"Do you have your phone on you?" I asked him.

"I was going down to get it, I left it in the lobby I think.. you?" He asked me back.

"I freaking left it in my room, along with the key card." I said annoyed at myself.

"What now?"

"We wait. Kaden knows where I went, and it's not long before they realize that this elevator isn't working," I explained, sitting down against the elevator wall.

"You're a lot calmer than I thought you'd be.." he said, surprised-looking.

"How so?"

"Well I thought that you would've been panicking by now," Brooklyn said.

"Well, in the past few days, I've gone back into my old habits. Realizing that life's so much better when you don't give a fuck." I said coldly, hinting at you know what.

There was a silence for a few minutes, but I didn't mind, since I had no interest in talking to him right now.

"Payton I'm sorry, okay? I don't know what else to say and I know that you won't be able to forgive me, but I can't stand not being able to talk to you, see you everyday--" he started.

"Save it. You're obviously not sorry enough that you would go and do something like that. Was I just not good enough for you? Was that it?" I said coldly. I wasn't gonna cry over this anymore.

"No, of course not. That girl, I don't even know her name, she came up to me while you were at your shoot. She had your files with her.. your admittance files, to when you saw the doctor about your eating disorder. She threatened to release them if I didn't make it look like I cheated on you. I really didn't want to do it, but I didn't want that information getting out, especially since your show for Victoria's Secret is next week. You don't understand how much I hate myself for ruining our relationship like that. I'm so sorry Payton," he said looking truly sorry. I don't even know what to think so I just put my head between my knees. He came and sat down next to me on the ground, still not saying anything. "Please say something," he finally said.

"What am I supposed to say Brooklyn? All of this is so fucked up, and I just don't know what to do, honestly." I lifted my head up, and didn't even realize that my face was tear stained.

"Don't cry, Payton," he said. I looked in his eyes, and they were so hurt.

Every time we broke up, he always had good reason for what he did. He never meant to hurt me, but I just don't know if I can handle being caught in the crossfire again.

The elevator started moving again, and the lights turned back on and I got up.

Brooklyn stood up too, and we didn't say anything on the way back. On the way down, neither of us said anything, and the doors opened at the lobby floor.

"Oh my gosh, Miss are you okay?" Asked a lady dressed in business attire, who I assume works at the hotel.

"Yeah, I'm fine, no worries," I say, then push my way past her. Not to be rude or anything, I just wasn't in the mood for anything at the moment.

"Uh, I left my room key inside my room, I know go me right.. is there a way for me to get another one or for someone to let me back into my room?" I ask the guy at the front desk.

"Yeah, what room are you staying in and under what name is it?"

"Room 435 at floor 43, under Arsenal, Payton Foster?"

"Ah yes, do you have your ID with you?" He asks.

Crap, my bag and everything's in the room as well.

"It's in the room actually, um.. Google me, I'll come up in images," I try. He nods his head and looks back up at me.

"Alright, here's your temporary card," he hands me a black plastic card.

"Thank you," I say before taking the stairs up. Yes I know that we're on the 43rd floor, but that elevator is a no-go unless I'm with someone I actually wanna be stuck in an elevator with.

As I'm walking up the never-ending stairs, it gives me time to think.

Who'd wanna blackmail, and break me up with Brooklyn? Especially someone who'd go to the lengths of following me to a different country.. Didn't know I had those kind of stalkers..
