ย โง "Y/n you know that nigga named Shawn right?" Hakeem held his bag in his hand and holding his phone in his other.
"Who?" you turned around and started walking backwards as you clenched the straps of your backpack.
Kendrick gently pulled your wrist, wrapping his arms around you, "He's in my Calculus class," Kendrick answered. You played with his fingers as his arm was draped over you.
"You got his number?" Hakeem opened the phone app to hover his thumb over his phone screen.
"Yeah I do actually...hold on, how do you even know him?" Kendrick stopped walking and took a pause before pulling his phone out of his pocket.
"Uh don't worry about it," Hakeem cocked his head forward, giving Kendrick a stank face, "What's his fucking number?"
"Alright calm down, it's uh, xxx," He began.
"Uh huh."
"xxx."
"Uh huh."
"And xxxx." Kendrick placed his phone back into his pocket, "Don't scare him off now." You snickered at Kendrick's comment and laughed even more at Hakeem glaring at Kendrick.
"Fuck you," Hakeem said aggressively as he flipped Kendrick off.
"I got somebody doing that already though?"
You stopped laughing and nudged Kendrick in the stomach, "Kenny," you heard him quietly groan as he rubbed his stomach in pain, "Now you know that's a damn lie."
"I ain't hear that right, repeat what you just said Kendrick," Hakeem stopped walking and moved his ear closer to Kendrick, waiting for Kendrick to repeat what he said previously, "Boy speak up."
"I ain't say none," you heard Kendrick mumbled.
You removed Kendrick's arm around you, "Exactly."
Hakeem looks at the both of you and shook his head, "Y'all are so illegal."
"It's only two years Hakeem," you reached towards your side pocket to grab your keys as you got closer to your house.
"Two years my ass," Hakeem shoved his phone in his back pocket, "Now hurry up, I wanna know if Danielle made any food."
You rolled your eyes and walked up the steps, Hakeem and Kendrick following behind you. You listened to your three keys clack against each other before picking out your house key.
Hakeem already sprinted into your house and headed straight to the kitchen to actually find your mom in there cooking.
Kendrick shook his head and walked in your house, taking his shoes off first before heading into the kitchen as well.
"Hakeem go take yo damn shoes off," your mom had the wooden spoon targeted in front of Hakeem's face but then points at Kendrick, "Look be like Kenny."
Hakeem looks at Kendrick up and down, purposely collided his shoulder against Kendrick's as he walks past him. Kendrick had a grin on his face as he stood beside your mom.
"Whatchu coooooooking," Kendrick sounded like a curious child.
*mama is cooking some Caribbean food cus i'm Caribbean and that's all i eat*
" (f/f)," your mom replied. You sniffed the air and smiled once you realized what was being cooked. You walked in the kitchen and hugged your mom.
"Hi mommy," you rested your head on her back.
Your mom smiled and patted your arms that was wrapped around her, "Hey baby, Kenny go grab a plate," your mom pointed at the cabinets with her spoon.
"Danielle," Hakeem walked back in the kitchen, "I mean momma," Hakeem corrected himself after receiving a long stare from your mom.
"Grab a plate Hakeem," you unwrapped your arms around your mom and walked with Hakeem and got a plate after he got his, "Lemme know when to stop Kenny."
"Nigga you know you ain't finna eat all that," Hakeem looked over at the plate your mom was holding. Your mom's eyes darted at Hakeem, "Do you want to starve, Hakeem."
"No ma'am," Hakeem moved his plate closer to your mom waiting for her to take his plate.
"Here you go baby," your mom handed Kendrick his plate before taking yours.
"Wait a minute, you skipped me?!" Hakeem said in shock. He placed his hand over his chest as if what your mom did to him was offensive.
"You can wait your turn."
You laughed at Hakeem as you took your plate of food from your mom and a spoon from the drawer and walked to the dining table where Kendrick was seated at. You pulled out the chair beside him and sat down already scooping up food.
"Hold up y/n," Kendrick raised his hand in front of you, signaling you to pause, "You ain't say your blessings?"
You let out a sigh and clapped your hands together, "You right," you closed your eyes and mumbled prayers quietly, "Amen."

"Close the door Hakeem," you tossed your backpack onto the floor, pulling out your phone to lay beside Kendrick.
"Why is yo room never clean?" Hakeem closed your bedroom door and sat on your bean bag. Kendrick had his phone in the air as you had your head rested on his chest. You could feel his chest slowly moving up and down as he breathed.
"Shut up," you rolled your eyes.
"Anyways," Hakeem crossed his legs together, "Kendrick have you figured out what college you're attending?"
Kendrick laughed at a meme you saw on your Instagram feed before he answered Hakeem, "Yeah," Kendrick poked your stomach as he tried to sit up. You also sat up with him and leaned your back against your headboard, "I already got accepted to Yale."
"For real?!" you brought your eyes back to Kendrick with excitement written all over your face, "That's wassup," you and Kendrick dapped each other up.
Hakeem looked at the two of you with confusion, "Since when was y'all dapping? What's wrong with a lil smooch on the lips?"
"I can't dap up my girl?" Kendrick held onto your hand.
Hakeem stayed silent, still looking at the both of you, "Did I mention that this is illegal," Hakeem moved his hand in circles in front of you and Kendrick then pointed at you, "You're a victim."
Ignoring what Hakeem said, you had your focus back on Kendrick, "Wait a minute, Yale right?"
Kendrick nodded.
"Yale ain't close to Georgia."
"I know."
"Ah shit," Hakeem rested his chin on his hand, "Not the long distance relationship."
"We can make it work Hakeem...i think," You placed your hand behind Kendrick's neck, gently rubbing it, "Right Kenny?"
Kendrick wandered his eyes back to you, giving the smile you'd always loved, "Of course."
"I doubt it," Hakeem said after clearing his throat, "Enough about Kendrick, I need to move out."
"Where you finna go?" Kendrick asked. Hakeem looked up as he began thinking about where he wanted to go.
"New York doesn't sound too bad," He shrugged, "There's probably good photography jobs over there."
"Deadass? I needed some jobs for photography too," Kendrick snapped his fingers and pointed at you after remembering a thought that came across his mind, " I also heard about fashion design courses you could take in New York."
"Really?" you reached over your nightstand and grabbed your notebook and pencil, "Names."
Kendrick chuckled at your excitement and took the pencil and notebook from your hand to write down the name, "I only found out about one though...here."
You clapped happily after taking your notebook from Kendrick, "Ha! that's what's up," you laughed while raising your hand in front of Kendrick to do your handshake.
Hakeem watched you and Kendrick's fingers intertwine and tangle with one another before finally dapping each other up. He stared at the two of you with a cringe facial expression on his face as his eyes wandered from Kendrick pecking your lips and to you kissing him back.
"I needa wash my eyes after this," Hakeem murmured as he averted his head to the side and opened his mouth, pointing his finger towards his tongue making a gag expression.
"Can this end, we was just talking about me," Hakeem drummed his finger against his knee, waiting for the two of you to stop making googly eyes at each other.
"My fault, go head," Kendrick looked at Hakeem, you doing the same.
"As I was saying, College is getting boring so-"
"So what?" you and Kendrick said at the same time, "You finna drop out?" Kendrick finished.
"Yes the fuck?" Hakeem raised an eyebrow.
"So you're gonna drop out, then move out to New York?" You questioned him.
"Yes basically, I'll find a way to get money and a job," Hakeem got up from your bean bag and stretched obnoxiously. You and Kendrick looked at Hakeem, looked at each other then looked back at Hakeem.
"You finna be a stripper or sum?" Kendrick tilted his head to the side, studying his friend.
"Nah, he finna do onlyfans," you added on. Kendrick patted your leg as he laughed at your comment, you laughing along with him. Hakeem stood up with his hand on his hip, looking at the two of you goofing off waiting for you both to calm down.
"Can y'all shut the fuck up," Hakeem rolled his eyes, still having his upper lip curved up, "You know what, maybe I will be a stripper, hmph." Without noticing, Hakeem already left your room and walked himself out of your house.
"Ah shit," Kendrick whispered, wiping his tears that came from all his laughing. You sighed and laid your head on Kendrick's lap, looking up at him. You stared up at him for a while, just admiring his looks.

ย ย โง You met Kendrick through Hakeem when Kendrick lived only 3 blocks away from your house. You met a lot of your friends through Hakeem which places you in a spot with man mutuals twice your age.
Growing up you didn't have much people to talk to and since Hakeem was already your neighbor and was someone who you knew from school, everyone he was friends with ended up being introduced to you. Mostly of his college friends though.
You knew both Hakeem and Kendrick for a good 2 years. It all went down after you seeing them fighting on your street, specifically on your lawn. You walked towards your window to try and figure out why there was so much commotion, and there they were.
Two teenage boys holding onto each other's shirts, rolling on the grass. One kid with short curly hair with a striped blue and white polo shirt was swinging their hands at the other kid that had messy, twisted hair.
"AGH KEEM, LET GO OF MY HAIR BRO," you heard the boy with the short dreadlocks that were growing out yell as he clenched onto the other boy's shirt.
"I..TOLD...YOU...TO...NOT...DRINK...MY... ICED...TEA...AND...YOU...DID...THAT...SHIT...ANYWAYS..." the boy with the polo shirt shouted at every hit he made.
You sighed to yourself in disappointment and slipped on your nike slides before opening your front door. You stood at your porch and watched the two boys now tackling one another.
You took a deep breath before shouting at the two, "CAN Y'ALL DO THAT SOMEWHERE ELSE?! DAMN."
The two boys stopped moving and looked at you. They both got up and let's go of one another's shirt, one dropping their arms to the side while the other one had his arms crossed, looking at you up and down.
"Now who the hell are you?" the boy with his arms crossed asked with a sassy tone.
An eyebrow was raised as you looked at the boy, taken aback a bit, "What'd you say?"
"I said who the hell are YOU?" the boy repeated, this time pointing his index finger at you.
"Nigga you are on my lawn fighting, I should be asking who the hell you are."
"She has a point Hakeem," the other boy whispered.
"Boy who asked you," he said shoving the boy's head away with his hand, "I'm Hakeem."
Your face rested a bit, "I'm Y/n, who's the other one?" you pointed at the other boy, who was twirling his dreads with his fingers.
"Oh this bitch ass? His name is Kendrick."
The other boy waved at you, giving you a warm but awkward smile, "Was good."
You squinted at Kendrick, puckering your lips a bit, "Imma call you pretty boy Kenny," you walked towards your steps and jumped, your feet landing on the concrete.
"Kenny ain't that pretty?" Hakeem pointed at his face, "Look, I fucked up his face."
Kendrick rolled his eyes at Hakeem, "Wanna play basketball with us?" Kendrick pointed at the basketball hoop that was a few blocks away from your house.
"Ion know how to play basketball."
"I can teach you," Kendrick smiled at you. He walked to the sidewalk where the basketball was at and picked it up, "Come on."

"N/n," Kendrick tapped your forehead. You shook your head and getting out of your thoughts since you zoned out, "You've been staring at me for a long time," Kendrick softly chuckled.
"Sorry, I was just thinking..."
Kendrick exhaled softly as he gently caressed his thumb against your forehead, "About?"
"Uh how this long distance shit is gonna go," you ended up telling him instead.
"What's your thought then?" Kendrick leaned against his arms as you grunted softly to sit back up. You turned your body to face Kendrick.
"If i'm being honest, if it doesn't work out then we'll just simply breakup," you stuck one finger in the air as you kept your eyes on him, checking for his reaction.
"Okay..." Kendrick said lowly. You stuck your second finger up to finish your sentence.
"Now if it does work out then...it works out," you shrugged. You both knew deep down that none of this would work out. Y'all knew how long distance relationships worked and most of the time, it never lasts.
"Got it," Kendrick said flatly, poking out his bottom lip and nodded at you. You relaxed after knowing that the both of you were in the same page.
