Part 22

I wrote this during class. That's it. Enjoy.

"Would you shut up! Somebody's gonna hear us!"

"You walk around like a bloody elephant, Malfoy, don't even talk."

Draco and Ginny both let out exhales as they made it  onto the great lawn. Ginny was walking determinedly while Draco kept sneaking worried glances behind his shoulder. "Draco I'm going to rip your hair out of your skull if you don't stop making me nervous."

"You should be nervous. One of your friends is gonna see us. I'll bet its Potter with my luck. Then they'll stop us hanging out and you'll fail potions."

"And you'll have no friends left"

Draco shoved her playfully. Ginny smiled back. "Alright, alright... Come on!"

For a while Draco and Ginny had been sneaking out late at night whenever Ginny needed help with potions, or Draco just needed somebody to talk to. They both knew that with his past, people finding out about them would never end well, so they resorted to a couple hours of sleep loss every night in return for quality time.

Draco lent against a tree and watched Ginny studiously complete potions equations. "So?"

"So what?"

"What's going on with you and Potter?"

"Would I add lacewing flies here?"

"It's only a matter of time before you two get together."

"How many grams is the average pixie wing again?"

"I suggest you make the first move, get it over with."

"Is a heart of darkness potion six ingredients or four? I can't remember..."

"Ginny if you and him don't happen soon I'm going to have to ask him out for you."

Ginny finally looked up. "What the hell, Draco." Draco snorted. "It's so painfully obvious that you two like each other. Even I'm rooting for the prat." Ginny glared at him. "Oh look at that! The sun!" She said, dryly. "That means we go inside now. Let's go."

"You're pathetic."

"At least I have a love life."

"Bloody hell, Gin that one was too far."

As they entered the castle together, by an unfortunate coincidence, they ran into a raven haired boy taking an early morning walk. The two of them stopped in front of him. He stared at them blankly. "This is you, Draco, you manifested this." She whispered to him. Harry furrowed his brow, obviously able to hear her. Draco only stared at the floor, raised his eyebrows, then shook his head in defeat, walking quickly away. "Damn." Ginny muttered.

"Funny." Harry said. "I sent Hedwig up to your dormitory to see if you wanted to come on a walk with me, but you were off on a date with Draco Malfoy."

"It wasn't  a date it was potions tutoring."

"Which you couldn't have asked me for?"

"I'm not doing potions with you while you're still using that bloody book."

"Me using that book is nowhere near worse than you hanging out with a deatheater."

"Draco Malfoy is not a deatheater."

"He's still a prat."

"He's got a lot of stuff going on."

"Oh you're empathizing with the purist? All cozy with him now, are you?"

"Oh, what. You're jealous?"

"Yeah I'm jealous! What do you think this is?"

"Oh." Ginny tried to hide her smile, stepped forward and grabbed Harry's hand gently. "I don't like him like that." Harry stared down into her eyes, still with a determined glare on his face, and intertwined their fingers tightly. "I am furious with you, Ginny Weasley." And they walked down the corridor, hand in hand.

Later, Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny all sat in the common room. "I just think that if I ask him again and I mess up, that's it. I'm done for." They all nodded in agreement. Harry had been stressing about getting Slugorn's memory for a while now. "I don't know." Ginny sighed. "Maybe he'll just, let it slip accidentally... If you're lucky." Harry nodded.

"Wait, say that again."

Maybe he'll just let it slip accidentally if you're lucky?"

"Oh my god." He exclaimed. Ron, Ginny, and Hermione looked at eachother confused and Harry jumped up, grabbed Ginny's face and kissed her on the cheek, then bolted up the stairs. Hermione looked at Ginny with a smirk while Ron just stared. She cleared her throat. "I'll only be a moment." Then left to her dormitory.

Ron looked at Hermione with an alarmed look on his face. "Oh, stop being so dramatic." She rolled her eyes. "Not worse than you and Lav-Lav" She added lowly. "What?" Then Harry bounded down the stairs, out of breath, holding a sock. "Ok I- Where's Ginny gone?"

Hermione coughed. "She went to um-" She glanced at Ron. "Collect herself."

"Oh." Harry flushed and scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "Right... erm. Okay." He went to sit down. "Mate why've you got a sock?" Ron inquired. Harry grinned. "I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before. Ginny reminded me." He pulled a small vile out of the sock. Hermione gasped softly. "Of course." Ron scooted forward. "Liquid luck."
