War
21:11, 11 May 2024"Well, that went well," I muttered.
Well as in Octavion demanding I choose Camp Jupiter's side in war and ask for my father's aid (there was no way that was happening), and Reyna standing there silently, trying to figure me out. Then I basically got thrown out when I said their war was idiotic and impulsive.
"Are you crazy?" Grover asked, crunching on a soda can nervously. "That went terrible!"
I sighed and rolled my eyes. "Do you know what sarcasm is?"
He huffed indignantly. "Of course I do! Percy is fluent in it."
"Calm down," Racheal said. "I'll tell Chiron what happened, River, go get her to Will and then meet us at the Big House."
I nodded and left them. I'd arrived right when Racheal and Grover were leaving a meeting with Reyna and Octavion. They'd decided to wait for me just outside Camp Jupiter's outpost and told me what happened, while I filled them in on some things too.
Though I might have left out the part about having a goddess with the mindset of a seven-year-old currently asleep on my back. As far as they knew, she was just a demigod I'd found.
I stepped into the Infirmary and was greeted by a boy with blonde hair and practically golden skin, wearing flip-flops and a Sur Shop T-shirt. He introduced himself as Will, though I remembered him already from the last time I was at Camp Half-Blood.
He laid Asaka down on a cot and checked her, not finding anything wrong, which puzzled him. I but my lip and pretended not to know anything. It would be dangerous if anyone knew what she was. A Greek and Roman goddess, in one form.
Yeah, that couldn't cause any more chaos or drama.
After I made Will swear on his life that he wouldn't let any harm come to the comatose goddess, I left just as Clarisse la Rue from the Ares Cabin came in with a pregnant nymph, who looked like she might be going into labor.
I made my way to the Big House, prepared for a long conversation with Chiron and Racheal.
-*-
"Greeks!" Percy yelled. "Let's, um, fight stuff!"
I couldn't help but laugh slightly, even in the current situation, at Percy's battle yell compared to the Roman's neat orders. A large cry from the Greek demigods answered him and everyone kept on fighting the monsters Octavion had brought.
"Nico!" I called, trying to find him as I fought an empousai.
She was about to lunge at me when a black sword drove through from the back of her chest, and she exploded in a blur of golden dust. Behind where the empousai used to be stood Nico, who looked tired and almost ready to collapse.
"Neeks!" I sighed, running up and hugging him.
He didn't stiffen, but he didn't hug me back. "You're alive."
I rolled my eyes turned just as a monster came up and was about to strike. I dodged and sliced it side with my knife, then through one and struck its head, causing it to explode in gold glitter. I watched as the gold flecks landed on the ground.
"See you around, Riverina," he said, casting a rare grin before running into the crowd of monsters.
I turned and gutted another monster. The monsters blurred together until I lost count of how many I fought. True Archer came out of nowhere and shot one to gold dust right before it was able to stab me.
I nodded a quick thanks to her before running in to help some demigods, getting a bit tired to fight them on my own. Every now and then I would spot Percy or Jason in the crowd, one time I saw Frank attacking some monsters in bear mode.
I would forever be envy at how he could shapeshift, it seemed so cool. Especially when he tackled a group in one big bear-hug.
My eyes darted to the sky, seeing Gaea being dragged up in a large, earthy human form, with Leo riding a metal dragon and Jason and Piper trying to catch up with them in the air. Then there was a big explosion, Leo and the dragon nowhere to be seen.
We warded what was left of the monsters off, and I collapsed next to Percy. "Did we win?"
He looked down at me and sat down, nodding as he grinned. "We won."
