Six

Olivia-

Today is the first day of junior year and I'm already stressed. I was picked to be the captain for the Track team this year and I've already got people hitting me up with questions that I don't have answers too.

I've been doing track ever since middle school and I love it. It definitely helps with my anxiety. Did I mention I'm really fast? I always have been ever since I was a kid. I used to hate running, now I don't know where my life would be without it. That sounds dramatic but it's true.

I finished getting ready and made my way downstairs. Oh how rude of me not to mention my outfit. I was wearing light washed mom jeans with a graphic tee and a white turtle neck underneath. And white air forces. I didn't do much special with my hair. I just ran the straightener through it and then put a bandana in it to keep it out of my face (pictured above). My makeup was light. I know most people kinda go all out for the first day but honestly I don't give a fuck. Plus I had practice after so i didn't want to put a bunch on just to sweat it off later.

"Bye mom, love you" I said walking out of the door

I got in my car and plugged in my phone to the aux. I put on my playlist and went to go get Cassie. I pulled up to her house a few minutes later and lightly tapped my horn to signal I was here. She ran out of her house and opened the passenger seat door

"Happy first day!" She said all excited

"Yeah it's not gonna be so happy if you don't get your ass moving, we're gonna be late" I joked

"Whatever, it's pay back for ditching me at the party"

"I'm sorry about that, but you ditched me first to go fuck McKay"

She scoffed and rolled her eyes

"Um hello I need details" I mocked

"I mean, he was like really aggressive at first. Like he tried to fucking choke me"

"Ew what the fuck" I said keeping my eyes on the road

"Yeah but then he was all like sorry, so we ended up fucking anyways"

"Do you like him?"

"Yeah, he's super sweet and I think he just probably watched too much porn"

We both started laughing

"So anything interesting happen to you?"

I debated whether to tell her or not. Normally we don't ever keep things from each other, but I know how Cassie feels about Nate and I didn't want to get her upset over nothing

"Nope, I had one drink and then I dipped"

"Why am I not surprised" she said as we parked in the school parking lot

"You know I don't like parties" I said getting out of my car

"Yet you still go to them" she chuckled

"Only because you drag me too them" I spat back

We started to make our way to the school

"Oh shit I forgot my track bag, don't wait up for me" I said waving her goodbye

"Bye love you"

I blew her a kiss and then turned back around, pulling my keys out my pocket and fiddling with them as I walked back to my car.

Just as I reached it I watched as Nate pulled in the parking lot with his big ass truck. I rolled my eyes as he parked right next to me. I hurried and opened the back seat grabbing my bag. I dropped my keys on the ground just as I shut the door. I bent over to pick them up and when I stood up I found Nate standing over me. I rolled my eyes and tried to push past him to no avail.

"Where you off too so quickly princess?" He said moving closer to me. The sexual tension was killing me but I wasn't going to let him know that

He looked down at my Nike duffel bag

"What's that for?" He asked

"Track"

"What times your practice?"

"Why do you need to know Nate?" I questioned

"Why are you so god damn stubborn"

"Why are you such an asshole?"

I could tell he was getting irritated but I was not gonna let him win this time.

"What are you gonna do huh, leave a bruise on me?" oh wait you already did that" I said holding up my wrist shoving the dark purple mark in his face.

He looked at it quickly and then looked away. He looked guilty. He fucking should be! He moved his body without saying a word. I slipped by him and walked off

Before I got too far away. I turned back

"My practice starts at 3:30" I yelled

"Meet me here at 3?" He said

I shook my head, smiling and rolled my eyes. I could hear him lightly laughing at I walked away. Why the fuck does he have this effect on me. I'm pissed at him 1 minute and then the next I'm laughing with him.

The rest of the day went by pretty quickly. I had Nate in one class, Chemistry. He eyed me the whole time and every time I caught him staring I would raise my eyebrows and him and smirk. Which would cause him to look away and smile lightly.

Finally the day was over and I met Cassie at my locker.

"Have fun a cheer, call me later?" I said closing my locker

"Yup, see ya out there" she said hugging me quickly and walking away. Fuck I forgot I have to meet the team to discuss uniforms. I pulled out my phone to text Nate

I didn't get a response back. He would probably be mad but he's mad at everything so whatever. Track was and will always be more important to me. I walked into the girls locker room and changed into a sports bra and Nike spandex shorts.

"Okay ladies gather up" I said raising my voice

A crowd formed around me and I pulled out a piece of paper.

"Okay, first of all welcome back. I know I have a big spot to fill Gia's shoes but I'm gonna try my best. So this year we will have 12 meets total if the weather allows it. 6 home, 6 away sound good?"

I looked around and everyone was shaking their heads.

"This year my goal is to get us even better, even stronger and and even faster than last year. I want all of your guys times to be better and overall I want us to grow as runners. Here are your shirts for meets" I said passing around a box.

"For those whose are new I'm Olivia but you can call me Liv. Does anyone have any questions?"

It was silent so I took that as a no

"We're not gonna waist any time. Today we're gonna stretch, do a mile and then we're gonna practice sprints, sound good to everyone?" I smiled

They all shook their heads and I earned a few hollers from some of the girls.

"Okay let's get out there, and don't forget if you have any questions at all don't hesitate to ask"

We all walked out of the locker room together and I made small talk with one of the girls on the way out.

We reach the track and all separated to stretch. As I was stretching I watched Nate and his other football friends walking to the field. I'm not gonna lie, he didn't look to bad in his football uniform.

"Alright ladies, we're gonna start with a mile. Don't wear yourself out take your time" I said

We all started to run and I got ahead of everyone. Not because it was a race but because my normal pace was a sprint compared to everyone else's. I slowed down to run with another girl. I caught Nate looking at me and I shook my head and smiled.

The rest of practice went by great! I could tell we were gonna have an awesome season. I like the whole captain thing and we had a really strong group.

"Bye Liv" a girl said waving and smiling at me

"See ya tomorrow Sarah oh and hey don't forget your slip, I need those ASAP" I said

"I got you" she said walking away

I finished up my conversation with another girl when I saw Nate walk up to me.

"Nice to see you captain Liv" he mocked

I furrowed by brows at him.

"Let me take you home?" He asked

"What about my car?" I asked

"I'll pick you up tomorrow"

"Fine but I'm not going anywhere with you smelling like that" I said sarcastically

"Fuck you" he teased

I smiled and walked back to the locker rooms. I changed quickly and sprayed perfume to mask the sweat. I hate showering in the locker room. It was nasty. I walked out and started making my way to my car. Halfway to it I saw Nate standing there.. with Maddy and they were arguing. Great this should be fun
