PART 52

22:11, 29 August 2024

After 30 minutes, Jiyang and Haoxuan finally arrived. As they approached the table where Eros, Gu Wei, Lulu, and Ziyi were seated, Lulu and Ziyi were surprised but chose to remain silent.

"Mr. Wang," Jiyang called out. "Aren't you Liying's husband?" he added. Yibo stared at them for several moments without saying anything, as if he was trying to remember something. Then, something clicked. "That outfit," he muttered, clearing his throat. "Weren't you the ones at the auction who helped Liying?" Yibo asked to confirm.

Meanwhile, Gu Wei just observed the interaction, thinking, "Something is definitely off." Haoxuan then asked, "So, are you two together again?" while glancing at Gu Wei, who avoided his gaze. Lulu and Ziyi continued to quietly observe the situation.

Yibo shot a cold glare at Haoxuan and Jiyang. "Okay, fine, we're leaving," they said in unison, with Haoxuan pulling Jiyang away. Moments later, Gu Wei's phone rang. He excused himself to answer it but didn't leave his seat. "Are you coming here?" he asked, glancing occasionally at Yibo. "Alright, let me check first," he added, pretending to cover the phone

"Is it okay with you if my friends come here?" Gu Wei asked Yibo. Yibo smiled, happy that Gu Wei was finally mentioning his friends, as he had never done so before. "Of course," Yibo replied, smiling back at Gu Wei. "Thanks," Gu Wei said, returning to his call. "It's fine," he told his friends on the phone before hanging up. He looked over at Lulu and Ziyi, knowing that they probably had questions but were choosing to keep quiet, something he was grateful for.

"I hope it’s okay with you," Gu Wei said with a smile. "The more, the merrier," Ziyi responded, glancing at Eros.

Soon after, Gu Wei stood up to wave at Jiyang and Haoxuan, who had changed into different clothes. "Over here," Gu Wei called out, even though they were already attracting attention from others in the room.

As they got closer, Yibo stood up and smiled at them, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't recognize the two people standing in front of him. Jiyang and Haoxuan introduced themselves as Xingchen and Xue Yang.

Eros also introduced himself to them. While Gu Wei watched Yibo laugh at Haoxuan's jokes, he couldn't help but feel a wave of sadness, though he didn't know why. He stood up and excused himself, saying he needed to go to the restroom. Once inside, he finally let the tears he had been holding back flow freely.

Elsewhere, as Lara and Katrina entered the VIP room of the restaurant where Mianmian had reserved a table, they immediately spotted a woman in her thirties. They calmly asked if she was Mianmian. Mianmian stood up and introduced herself. After they exchanged introductions, Mianmian invited them to sit down.

"What would you like to eat?" she politely asked. Katrina and Lara exchanged hesitant glances, their uncertainty evident on their faces. Mianmian smiled at them. "We're not hungry," Katrina replied. "Ah, okay. I need your help to get Yibo to undergo surgery," she said directly, shocking the two women. "Chen Yu has stage 4 brain tumor."

Meanwhile, as Gu Wei cried, he didn't notice  Eros entering the restroom. He was startled when he heard Yibo's voice. Turning around, he quickly wiped away his tears. "Are you okay?" Eros asked with concern, but instead of answering, Gu Wei asked Yibo. "Are you okay?" Eros was surprised by Gu Wei's sudden question but quickly smiled. "Of course, I'm fine," he said cheerfully.

Eros took a step towards Gu Wei and embraced him, as if he understood why Gu Wei was crying. For some inexplicable reason, Gu Wei set aside his anger towards Yibo and returned the embrace.

"Don't dwell on things we can't control," Eros said while they held each other, causing Gu Wei to tighten his grip even more.

Meanwhile, Haoxuan had followed them to the bathroom, concerned about how long they had been gone, but he stopped in his tracks when he saw Eros and Gu Wei hugging. "I hope you two find clarity," he murmured before heading back to their table. "Let's just go home and call them later," he suggested when he returned.

"Why, what happened?" Jiyang asked curiously, glancing in the direction of the restroom.

"Nothing," Haoxuan replied curtly. "By the way, you two should drop by Wei²'s house tonight," he added, looking at Lulu and Ziyi. They nodded, and then the group left the Star Hotel.

"We headed home first," Lulu messaged Yibo, while Jiyang and Haoxuan did the same for Gu Wei.

Elsewhere, Liying was getting herself ready for her meeting with Yibo. "I know you'll always come back to me, Yibo," she said to herself, staring into the mirror, but her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. "Come in, baby," she called out cheerfully.

When Andro entered, it was clear he was in a bad mood. "What's wrong? Why do you look like that?" Liying asked.

"Mom, when will that useless person come back home?" Andro asked, not mentioning a name, but Liying knew exactly who he meant.

"Don't tell me you miss him?" Liying asked in disbelief. Andro sniffled. "No way, I just want him back here because I need someone to boss around. I'd rather order him around than the helpers in this house," he said, making Liying smile.

"Don't worry, I'll call A-yuan and tell him to come home, so cheer up, baby," she said, brightening Andro's mood. "And guess who I'm meeting later?" Liying added with a still-present smile.

"Your new friend?" Andro asked, clueless.

"Silly boy, your father. Maybe I can convince him to move back in," Liying said, and Andro happily hugged her.

On the other hand, Diego and Sebastian were worried when they saw the swollen eyes of Katrina and Lara, as if they had been crying. "What happened to you?" Diego asked Katrina with concern. Katrina didn't speak but hugged Diego tightly before suddenly fainting. "Honey," Diego called out, lifting the unconscious Katrina.

"We need to take her to the hospital," Sebastian said, and they rushed out of Yibo's parents' mansion. "I'll drive" Sebastian said when they reached the car, while Haikuan, Cheng, and the children upstairs quickly ran down when they heard the commotion from the helpers.

"What happened here?" Haikuan asked in shock.

"Sir, Madam fainted and was rushed to the hospital," a helper explained. Haikuan immediately ran outside, followed by Cheng, the twins, and A-yuan. "Boys, stay here for now, okay?" Cheng said before the three of them could get in the car. The boys were saddened but didn't insist on going along.

Meanwhile, after calming down, Gu Wei and Eros pulled away from each other. "I'll wait for you outside," Yibo said when he noticed that Gu Wei couldn't meet his eyes. When Yibo went outside, he saw that their friends had already left, so he quickly pulled out his phone to call them. That's when he noticed Lulu's message.

"Sorry," he replied before putting his phone back in his pocket. At that moment, Gu Wei appeared beside him, also surprised to see that their friends were gone.

"They went home already," Yibo explained. "I'll take you home," Yibo offered. Gu Wei initially declined, but Yibo insisted, so Gu Wei eventually agreed.

When he arrived home, Gu Wei went straight to the room where he paints whenever he's deep in thought, completely ignoring Haoxuan, Lay, and Jiyang, who were in the living room.

Meanwhile, Eros headed to the bar where he was supposed to meet Liying. "Is everything set?" Eros asked the man he was speaking with. "Yes, but are you sure about this?" the man replied. Eros smirked. "If she weren't pregnant, this wouldn't be the only thing she'd face. But the child is innocent, just unlucky to have Liying as a parent," Yibo said. A few minutes later, Liying arrived at the bar.

However, Eros ignored her, not recognizing her at first. He was caught off guard when someone suddenly hugged him from behind. Before he could react, Liying spoke. "Honey, you're already here" she said. Yibo removed Liying's hand. "Yeah" Yibo said curtly.

At the hospital, they were relieved to learn that Katrina had fainted only due to stress and exhaustion. Otherwise, they wouldn't have known what to do if she had a more serious condition. While Katrina was still unconscious, Lara revealed everything the three of them had discussed. Diego, shocked by the revelation, sat down as his vision darkened.

"This will be Yibo's third surgery, so it can't be delayed," Mianmian told them.

As Haikuan listened to Lara, he couldn't help but cry, especially since they had no idea Yibo had gone through so much. He was angry that Yibo hadn't told them anything.

The next morning, Gu Wei was still sitting in front of the blank canvas. He had been there since the night before, but no matter what he tried, he couldn't draw. He couldn't stop thinking about Yibo's recent behavior.

On the other hand, when Liying woke up, she smiled as she recalled the events of the previous night. Although her memory was hazy, she knew Yibo had been with her, and her smile grew wider when she realized she was unclothed. But her smile quickly faded when she saw that Yibo was no longer beside her. Despite her body aching, she forced herself to get up. When she saw the many kiss marks on her body, she smiled meaningfully.

"I knew you couldn't resist me, you just took your time," she whispered, then noticed a note on the table.

"I didn't wake you up. I had fun last night." —Yibo.

She kissed the note before rolling around on the bed, laughing happily. "He enjoyed it," she repeated over and over.

Meanwhile, Eros arrived early at his company, surprising his employees, who noticed he was in a particularly good mood. "This is just the beginning, I won't waste the few months left of my life, without ruining your life, like you ruined mine, plus by kidnapping Zhan you will pay for it" he whispered and asked his secretary to make him some coffee. "Coffee is good for moments like these," he said to his secretary, who was taken aback. "Oh, by the way, has Gu Wei arrived yet?" Yibo asked.

"Not yet, sir." Yibo smiled at her before entering his office.

"Is the world ending?" the secretary asked herself, staring blankly.

Despite not getting any sleep, Gu Wei still went to work.
