Chapter 20
17:34, 8 September 2023"By the looks of it, I assume, the two of you talked," Heather says and wiggles her eyebrows suggestively.
Henry and I decided this morning that we would join Charles and Heather and visit the Harry Potter studios with them. He could spend time with his family, and I could cross another thing off my bucket list. The past hour he either had his arm around my shoulders or my hand in his. When we stopped in front something, he wrapped his arms around my middle and rested his head on my head. And an occasional peck on the lips was thrown in there as well.
"We did. And we figured it out. Thank you for talking to me yesterday."
"Not for that. Both of you needed a little push," she tells me and wraps her arm around me while we pass through a section of the Harry Potter studios. Henry and Charles walk in front of us with the kids. Seeing him with them makes me swoon and my ovaries are almost exploding now that he is carrying his youngest nephew and pointing to different things.
"Seems like it."
"So, I guess you will join us on family trips from now on," she starts and when she sees my confused expression with my eyebrows drawn together and puckered lips, she continues to explain, "Like Christmas at his house in Fort Lauderdale. Or the usual summer vacation in Italy."
"He hasn't told me about them yet."
"Yeah, I mean by the way you walk you didn't really talk that much last night," she giggles, and I hit her gently against her shoulder.
"Oh my gosh, Heather," I scold her, and she starts to laugh loudly which makes the heads of the men in front us turn.
"What's so funny?" Charles wants to know, and I shake my head.
"Nothing, honey. Charlotte just told me a very amusing story." I notice that Henry looks at me with a raised eyebrow and when he sees my probably red cheeks, he knows what we talked about. And somewhat pleased grin is on his lips. Shrugging his shoulders Charles turns back and Henry does the same.
"He will make a great father one day," Heather tells me, and I nod my head.
"Yes, he will. It will probably sound weird but seeing him with James and your other kids just makes my ovaries explode," I admit and lower my head a bit ashamed.
"I feel the same when I see my husband with our children, but I am done. No more little ones for me. I assume it means, that you want to have some of your own then?"
"Yes. Not now, but somewhere down the road."
"I'm glad to hear that and I think Henry is excited about it as well," she says, and I look at her confused. I know that he wants a family we talked about that a little bit on our trip when we visited Beatrix Potter's house, but I don't understand why he should be excited about the fact that I want children. "He didn't tell you, did he?"
"I'm not sure what you are talking about."
"My last girlfriend didn't want children. And Heather be nice to her. I don't want to lose her, now that I got her," Henry scolds his sister-in-law and I notice that he had stopped walking and we caught up to him. Apparently, he heard what Heather told me.
"Oh, I see. Her bad then I guess," I say, and Henry seems surprised by how relaxed I am. Then I turn my head to him.
"Believe me, you won't get rid of me that easily. Especially after last night," I almost whisper to him and he puts his free hand on my lower back.
"I like how you think," he says lowly, and Heather stops next to us.
"Okay guys, I think I need to take my child from you, because I get the feeling that this conversation is going into a direction that is not meant for little ears," Heather interrupts us and holds out her hands to take her youngest James.
"No. Uncle Henry," James says and hides his face in the space between Henry's neck and shoulder. I look at Henry and have to grin.
"I think we-", I start and Henry finishes my sentence, "We should go back to talk about other things." I nod my head and notice the look that Heather gives both of us.
"I hope both of you can keep your hands and words in check. I don't want my little one to say any naughty words," she sighs as she takes her son from Henry.
"We will manage," I tell her, and I can feel Henry's hand wandering lower. I clear my throat. "We are in public. Someone could recognize us and take a picture," I scold him and he just grins.
"I know and they already have. But I won't put my feelings aside in public. I want to touch you," he says and steps in front of me while his hand goes to my hip. "I want to kiss you," he continues and puts a quick peck on my lips. "So, everyone knows, that you are off the market and mine." Even though I want to be angry at him I can't. Exhaling deeply, I shake my head with a grin on my lips.
"Come on guys, we have still a lot of ground to cover and if you keep going in that rate, you will be the next ones in our family who will have a child," Heather scolds both of us and I smile at Henry wickedly.
"I mean we can train a lot for it until we are ready," I taunt him, and he swallows loudly.
"Don't tempt me, Charlotte," he warns me and steps next to me.
"Currently I am weighing my options between wanting to see Camden Market or going back to your place right after we are done here," I whisper to him, and I can feel his fingers on my back getting tense.
"You are even worse than me."
"What did you expect after last night?"
"Definitely not creating a minx," he laughs.
"Just because I love sex makes me a minx now?" Inquiringly I raise my eyebrow and lick over my bottom lip.
"That you are telling me this here without me being able to act on it, makes you one," he whispers lowly into my ear, and I need to press my legs together.
"I guess, it means that we will postpone Camden Market," I smirk and he shakes his head slightly.
"No." Confused I look at him. "Some things need to be savored. See it as foreplay," he whispers and then puts a kiss onto my temple. I look at him with an open mouth. "You should close your mouth, or I might get some ideas for tonight," he murmurs, and I need to take couple of deep breaths to calm myself down while he chuckles lowly.
"I can't wait to put my lips around your cock and make you cum, then swallowing it," I whisper back and grin at him. "You know, that two can play that game," I add when I notice him pressing his lips together.
"Yes, I realized that. And I have always liked a good challenge," he says smugly, and I can feel his hand wandering to my butt to squeeze it shortly and then he puts his hand back onto my hip. "But we should catch up with the others."
"You are back again!" Grace greets us excitedly and pulls first me and then Henry into a tight hug.
"Yes, we are," I tell her, and she looks from him to me and then back to him. With her index finger she tabs against her chin and squints her eyes together.
"Spit it out," Henry laughs as he takes my hand in his.
"You are finally together," she says, and a beaming smile appears on her face.
"I guess, we can't deny it, can we?" he chuckles and pulls me against his side.
"I had this feeling the first time I met you, that there is more between you than friendship. I remember when I saw you two watching the rugby game," Grace tells us as we walk toward our usual table. Instead of sitting across from each other, we sit down next to each other, and Henry's arm is immediately on the backrest of my chair.
"It seems as it has been obvious to everyone but not to ourselves," I chuckle and put my hand onto Henry's leg.
"It does. Why didn't you tell me that you are Rae Dawn? I love your work! I would have asked you for a signature in the books I have from you," Grace scolds me and I make a grimace.
"Because I couldn't spoiler it. If you have any books around, I am more than happy to sign them for you," I tell her, and she nods.
"I understand it. Maybe I will be able to get them from my flat, however what do you fancy today?"
"The past two months I have been looking forward to your famous toad in the hole," Henry says and when he sees my facial expression he starts to laugh. I studied the menu of this pub before, but didn't see it on it, so I don't really know what that is. "It's not what you think it is, believe me," he adds, and I draw my eyebrows together warily.
"Then please enlighten me, because I don't think I would want to sit next to you if you are planning on eating a toad," I warn him, and the thought alone makes my stomach turn.
"They are sausages baked in an egg batter in the oven," Henry explains, and I look at him horrified.
"I'll pass on that and will take your fish and chips with vinegar again. The bangers and mash from the last time I was here, sat in my stomach for a few days afterwards," I tell her and wrinkle my nose when I remember the unpleasant feeling.
After Henry ordered the beers that would go well to our dishes, Grace leaves our table. I glance around in the room and notice that people are looking at us. Some of them are literally staring while others try to hide it. I lean to Henry and turn my head slightly.
"They are watching us," I whisper to him not knowing how to deal with all that attention in public.
"I know. They have been since we stepped into the pub. Do you mind? Do you want to leave?"
"It's fine," I answer and mentally put my big girl pants on.
"If you feel uncomfortable, Grace will understand it."
"Seriously I am fine. I don't want either of us to be concerned about this. If they want to come over and talk, I am happy to do it. If they want to take pictures with or off us, I am okay with it as well. I knew what I would get myself into, when I made them print my picture on my book. But I didn't count in how well-known you are when I suggested coming here," I tell him honestly and he nods.
"Okay. But let me know as soon as you feel uncomfortable." I turn my head to him to look him in his face. There is worry in it that this might be too much for me. With a reassuring smile I take his hand and squeeze it.
"With you next to my side, nothing can shake me." Smiling he bends down his head and kisses me softly.
"I am glad to hear that."
