Chapter 30

Louis pov

  I ran toward the large double doors that led into the garden. I slammed them open and my eyes widened slightly at the sight before me. Wolves covered almost every inch of the once green garden. It had turned to red and wolves were still fighting. I saw some warrior wolves down and blood coming from their neck. I growled knowing that some of my own kind were gone. I was pleased to see more rogues down than my own wolves. I growled loudly and ran down the steps in wolf form. I ran through the entrance of the maze and jumped over the hedges. My ears perked up at screams of pain coming from the castle. 

  I could feel my heart shatter as I knew that my mate was changing and I wasn't there to be with her through it. I howled up at the moon causing all the wolves to stop fighting, even rogues, and howl with me. I looked down to see that everyone had resumed fighting and decided I needed to participate in this brawl. 

  I lunged at a small tan wolf that had one of my warriors pinned to the ground. I jumped onto of his back and bit his neck instantly causing the wolf to fall limp and blood pour from the bite wounds that would never heal. I could see some of the wolves turning back to human form as they died. 

  'Louis!' I heard Liam call to me through the mind link and looked around for the familiar large, dark brown wolf. I spotted him taking a wolf down, but another was stalking towards them. I bolted to the wolf hoping he hadn't seen me coming, but he was prepared for my attack. He slashed at my shoulder with his claws, but I didn't flinch. Something about knowing that I wasn't there for my mate made me fight with more power and not feel any pain. I pinned his large wolf to the ground. He snapped at my face but I slammed my mouth onto his neck and bit hard. He howled in pain before it slowly died off. 

  I climbed off his limp body and watched him change back into a human. I looked up to see Liam looking at my shoulder with wide eyes. I looked down to see four large slash marks cut across diagonally and blood pour from it. I ignored the pain and looked back at him whimpering. 

  'Whats wrong?' He collapsed to the ground and I rushed over searching for wounds. There was a large one on his back where a wolf had bitten down hard. 'Stay with me, Liam.'  He turned his head away and I stood guard over him. 'Harry, Niall, Zayn, come.' Three familiar wolves ran towards our direction. A light brown wolf, a dark black wolf with white paws, and a brown, curly haired wolf. I nodded my head at them before looking down at Liam. We stood on all four sides of Liam protecting him as we waited for the fight to end. 

  My head whipped up at the smell of my mate approaching, but she smelled different. My wolf whimpered knowing that she was approaching danger, but I stood in place. The double doors slammed open and everyone who was fighting stopped and looked up. My heart beat loudly in my chest with pride at the sight of our mate. White fur covered her petite, agile body. I could see her crystal blue wolf eyes from where I stood and felt a wolf smile pull at my snout. Everyone watched her intently as she descended down the stairs and walked through the maze into the field. 

  I didn't like all the rogues staring at her with lust filling their eyes. The thought caused a low growl to escape and her eyes shot to mine. The wolves made a path from her to me and she walked up so that she was facing me. She rubbed her nose with mine causing a low groan to rumble in my chest. She was so beautiful and innocent. 

  She placed her head to the side of mine and I leaned into her touch, happy she was okay. She whimpered and I quickly pulled away to look at her in worry. She was looking at my shoulder with pain. I could feel everyone's eyes watching her every move and it didn't settle very well with my wolf or me. She moved her head to my shoulder and surprised me. She licked my wound clean and I could feel it healing. She pulled away and I looked at her in surprise. 

  She has a gift. 

  Niall walked over to her nudging her in the shoulder and backing away. We both looked at him and he nodded his head toward Liam. She walked over to him and the boys stepped away giving their space. She licked Liam's back and he howled in pain as it began to heal. Amelia backed away and Liam opened his eyes to look at her in shock. He shakily stood on all fours and looked at her in confusion. I wasn't sure if she knew how to mind link yet but I figured it was worth a shot. 

  'Amelia? Can you hear me?' Her head shot to me. 'Yes.' I could hear the confusion in her voice silently asking me how. I would explain everything to her when we have more time. 'I love you.' 'I love you too.' She walked over towards me and brushed her side against mine in affection. A low groan found its way past my snout and I heard her giggle in my head amused by my reaction. 

  I suddenly was aware of all the wolves still watching her intently and my head shot up to them. They were surrounding us. The warrior wolves circled around the knights, Amelia, and I. I growled in warning at the rogues watching Amelia. I walked backwards, pushing her into the center of the circle of the knights and I. She whimpered causing me to watch her in worry. She nudged my back and pointed to the castle with her snout. 

  'Wait until the time is right.'  She sat down and a low challenging growl shocked me. 'No.'  She laid down with a humph and looked up at me with those blue eyes that made me miss her green color. 'I love you.' 

  As soon as I said that, the fight began.
