(Katarina's POV)

It's late when she opens Instagram. She's not looking for anything in particular —just scrolling while laying in bed, wearing that same old hoodie with the bleach stain on the sleeve and the text messages she hasn't answered lighting up her phone.

She doesn't expect anything.Not really.

Until she sees it.

Colby Brock — New Post.Photo 2 of 5.

And she almost skips past it,but something stops her.

The airport.Sam.Arms around a girl.

Not just arms.Held.His whole body is leaning into her.Head buried in her neck.Fingers gripped in her hoodie like he's home.

And she's smiling.Eyes closed.Like she knows she's his anchor now.

And then she sees the repost.Sam Golbach — Story. No tag.No caption.Just the photo.

For a second, it's quiet.

No reaction. No emotion.Just the sting in her chest — sharp and fast — like she'd just missed a turn in a story she thought she knew the ending to.

He didn't even need to say anything. That hug said everything.

Her thumb hovers.She doesn't click on the girl's profile.Not yet.She just... stares.

And somewhere in her head, she hears a voice she doesn't like admit:

"She looks good with him."

Because Sam used to smile like that with her —before the weight. Before the distance. Before the breakup they never really talked through.

But this? This is a different version of him.Not performing. Not quiet. Not broken.

Just... held.

And she knows what that means.

She doesn't say anything.She won't text him.She won't message Colby.She won't like the photo.

She'll just lie back, phone resting on her stomach, eyes blinking up at the ceiling.

"So that's her."

And yeah—it hurts.

But something inside her knows:she can't compete with someone who made him feel safe again.
