Chapter 9: Jealousy

It was storming in the pride lands. Rain began pouring down onto the ground that Kion ran on. He ran away from his friends, he ran towards the migration fields sitting down solemnly gazing at  the gray sky. Rain droplets dapped his fur.

The rest of the Lion Guard ran after him their bodies rather soaked from the rain.

"Uh Kion, are you okay?" Asked Bunga taking a small step towards him.

But Kion wasn't facing them, his back was towards them.

Kion replied temptingly, "No, guys I- I used the roar in anger.. and I lost control... I didn't mean to..." Said Kion still not facing them the rain poured down harder.

"It's not your fault Kion, you were just angry, everybody gets angry sometimes, it's normal." Said Beshte, trying to get him to lighten up.

"I know Beshte, but this time I was really angry... I could've put your lives in danger.." Said Kion, Beshte's comment didn't seem to help him.

"Guys, let me talk to him I can handle this." Fuli requested eyeing her friends seriously.

The guard then left, leaving Fuli and Kion alone.

"Kion, look please don't be mad at yourself, we all make mistakes it's not your fault okay?" Said Fuli softly.

But Kion didn't answer her, his back was still towards her.

"Kion, look at me please." Said Fuli soothingly.

Kion heard her soothing voice and turned to face her.

"Look, Kion I don't care what you did or anything, I'm just glad that you're safe that's all that matters to me." Said Fuli calmly, smiling lightly, making him smile back.

The rain stopped, and the sun began to appear from behind the clouds.

"Thanks Fuli, really for always being there for me, I love you." Said Kion licking her muzzle.

"Ha, yeah.. you're it!" Said Fuli hitting his shoulder with her paw.

"Oh, IT'S ON!" Said Kion running after her trying to keep up with her pace.

"You can't catch me!" Exclaimed Fuli running at full speed leaving Kion panting while chasing after her.

A cloud of dust then was left behind and Kion came to a halt when he could barely see.

"ARGH, FULI!" Said Kion complaining.

The dust then cleared and he could finally see. But, Fuli already disappeared and he knew he had to find her now.

"Fuli... I know you're here just come out!" He yelled into a bush, but she wasn't there.

"Hmm, not there..... okay Fuli you won now can you please come out?" Asked Kion politely searching in every bush, for her.

"Fuli! where are you?" He asked again his eyes darting from left to right. He tried to sniff her out, and followed the scent until he heard a familiar voice.

He continued following the sound and came upon Fuli talking to a friend that Kion had helped long before, Badili.

"Badili! it's nice to see you again!" Said Fuli cheerfully greeting him grinning.

"Yeah, you too Fuli! I never thought I'd come across you!" Replied Badili smiling back.

Kion saw them and stepped out.

"Badili? what's he doing here?" Asked Kion glancing at him suspiciously.

"Oh Kion! what a pleasure it is to see you again!" Said Badili cheerfully running up to him giving a friendly nod.

"Oh uh, yeah you too! so what are you doing here?" Asked Kion forcing a smile.

"Well, I was just heading out of my tree to get a drink of water and then I came across Fuli! it's great to see you guys again!" Said Badili excitedly.

"Uh yeah.." Said Kion unsurely, "So um Fuli, do you wanna head to Hakuna Matata Falls with me? we can hangout there you know..." He said trying to hide the fact, that they were together.

"Oh uh, sorry Kion me and Badili we were gonna race together, I'm helping him gain speed.." Said Fuli.

"Oh, yeah that's okay I guess I'll see you tomorrow then, bye Badili nice meeting with you again!" Said Kion giving him a fake smile then running off.

The next day, Kion came out looking for Fuli but saw that she was occupied, with Badili.

What? he's still here? Okay, something's definitely going on now. Kion thought. He was getting even more suspicious now, he didn't like Badili hanging with his mate all the time. He listened to their conversation behind a bush.

He crept behind the bush hoping the two wouldn't notice or smell him nearby.

"Wow, you're doing great at this Badili! you're almost as fast as me!" Exclaimed Fuli smiling at him.

"Well, I didn't think I could but now that you trained me I can be fast now!" Said Badili, he took a step closer to her.

Kion noticed and growled he didn't like Badili being too close to Fuli, he almost hopped out of the bush ready to strike, but he stayed.

"Well uh yeah haha I can definitely see some improvement! you know, I'm gonna get a drink of water I'll be right back!" Said Fuli nervously.

Kion watched her run off, and he thought to himself. "Now's my chance, I'm sick and tired of this leopard hanging out with Fuli I'll show him." He said to himself.

Kion then ran out towards Badili who was casually grooming himself.

"Hey! Badili, um look I think we need to talk." Said Kion angrily.

"Talk? about what?" Asked Badili smiling nervously, noticing the angry look on the cub's face.

"Look Badili, I don't know what you're trying to do but Fuli is mine, and all mine so don't even think about taking her!" Kion snarled, his claws unsheathed clawing the ground.

"What? me? of course not! I'm not trying to steal her from you... w- why would I do that?" Stammered Badili.

Kion knew he was lying and he let out a vicious growl.

"Fine you caught me...." The leopard confessed.

"Listen here, if you dare come near her again, there's gonna be trouble." Said Kion sternly.

His glare made Badili run away, and Kion walked off. But little did he know that Fuli was watching the whole thing and she stopped him.

"Um, what in the pridelands was THAT Kion?" Asked Fuli angrily.

"Fuli?" Said Kion he turned and saw her standing impatiently.

"Yeah! you think I didn't see that?" She said, leaving Kion embarrassed.

"Are you that protective over me or something!?" She said still glaring at him.

"Of course not! It's just that I don't trust him! I-"

"No! you know what I don't wanna hear it right now Kion, I thought you weren't like that." Said Fuli cutting him off she ran away leaving Kion behind.

"Fuli! wait!" Said Kion, as he watched her run off.

Way to go Kion, you made her angry at you, what's wrong with you!? He thought to himself.

Kion then walked off angrily, kicking rocks out of his way with his paw he clawed the ground, he then thought to himself, he was jealous.

He walked off to the lair when Janja came in front of him and pinned him down.

"ARGH JANJA!" Shouted Kion agrivatedly he tried to push him off but he couldn't, he was too weak. Ever since the incident with the roar, he felt worn out, like he was afraid he'd do something else wrong.

"HA! gotcha now lion cub! what a surprise to see me?"

Kion growled but he just couldn't fight back.

Meanwhile Fuli ran back to the lair upset with Kion but her friends were asking where Kion was. She told them that he ran off but Fuli was the one who ran off.

The guard told her that they've been looking for him for what seemed like hours. They then all searched for him and saw Janja attacking him.

Fuli knocked him off of Kion, and threatened him.

"DON'T MESS WITH US JANJA YOU'LL BE SORRY!"

"Oh I was just leaving! haha!" Janja then ran off scared, and Fuli ran to Kion.

She helped him up and apologized.

"Look Kion I should've never lashed out on you like that it was wrong for me to do." Said Fuli sadly.

"It's okay Fuli, I was just jealous that you were hanging out more with him, than me I didn't want him to take you from me." Said Kion nuzzling her.

"I know, he won't I promise." Said Fuli nuzzling him back.

Meanwhile back in the outlands Janja ran back to Scar. They then introduced Badili who desperately wanted revenge on Kion.

"Great! what a pleasure to add you in." Said Scar evilly greeting Badili.

"My pleasure it is to meet you too Scar, listen I didn't come here to play games I came here because I want revenge on a certain lion." Said Badili glaring.

"And who might that certain lion be?" Asked Scar.

"Kion. he used to be so nice, I don't understand him, he's so overprotective of Fuli, he assumed I was trying to steal her from him but I wasn't! I was just being a GOOD friend." Said Badili angrily.

"Well, we can help with that, ALL OF US WILL RULE OVER THE PRIDE LANDS AND WILL BE MORE POWERFUL THAN EVER!" Said Scar, all of the animals inside the volcano, laughed evilly.

"Great, I can't wait." Said Badili.

What will happen to Kion?

Will Scar's plan work?

Will he get the payback he's always wanted?
