Chapter 8: Darkness Within

QUICK NOTE~ Before you read this part, I just want to clarify that I'm using a little bit of last week's episode into this The Bite Of Kenge. Just a little idea for me but it's not gonna be like the entire episode I'm just using some of it for this part. I'm also changing it up a bit anyways enjoy!

The rest of the afternoon the guard rested up for awhile to relax while there was no danger around. But it wasn't long before their break was over.

Little did they all know there was an evil lizard roming around the pridelands attacking every animal just to take over the land. His name was Kenge, and he was the roughest toughest lizard in the outlands who would stop at nothing to get his way.

"CHOMP!" Is the sound that came from the lizard one by one his deadly sound of his bite scurried off all the animals.

"HAHA that's right! not your land anymore!" Said Kenge evilly.

The Lion Guard saw all the animals running away and came across Thurston the zebra, with a big ego.

He ran yelling out, "Panic and run! panic and run!" said the panicking zebra.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa take it easy! what's going on?" Asked Kion.

"Well, I was chased off my grazing grounds by this big evil lizard he told us, to leave! hmph how rude." Said Thurston scoffing.

"A lizard?" Questioned Bunga. "Why would you be chased off by a lizard?" Asked Fuli, curiously.

"Well he's not just any lizard, he's Kenge the meanest lizard in the outlands!" Exclaimed Thurston a look of worry on his face.

"So you said you saw a big lizard, that apparently chased all these animals off?" Asked Kion trying to be clear.

"Exactly, I mean he could at least share." Said Thurston annoyingly.

"Hmm... well whatever it is we gotta stop it, come on!" Exclaimed Kion to the guard as they followed behind him leaving Thurston behind.

"Uh wait, am I supposed to be following?" Asked Thurston confused.

The Lion Guard came across the big lizard that was drinking from the animal's watering hole.

"Well, he was right he is a pretty big lizard." Said Beshte examining him carefully.

Kion didn't waste a chance.

"HEY! I don't know who you are, but this is not how we do things in the pridelands!" Shouted Kion fiercely catching the lizard's attention.

"YEAH! around here we respect the circle of life!" Exclaimed Beshte agreeing with Kion.

"You must be the Lion Guard." Said Kenge agitatedly, his evil eyes lured on them.

"That's right! protectors of the pridelands!" Replied Kion stepping a paw forward.

"Ha, they say you talk like that." Said Kenge joking at their phrase.

"Then I bet you're not happy to see us!" Exclaimed Bunga grinning confidently  at the lizard.

"Actually, I'm thrilled bring it on!" Said Kenge challenging the Lion Guard.

"You asked for it!" Exclaimed Kion snarling.

Fuli then charged at Kenge, her paws ready to strike but the lizard was much too strong for her and took her by surprise.

"WHOA!" Exclaimed Fuli trying to dodge the lizard's bite.

But it was too late the lizard already took ahold of her leg and sent her into nerve wracking pain.

"AUGH!" Exclaimed Fuli her face with shock.

Kion immediately saw the lizard bite Fuli, and growled. He pounced on the lizard defending Fuli.

But he was knocked off from Kenge being overthrown onto the sand with a hard, "THUD!"

Kenge then bit Kion's tail and sent him into pain. Finally, Beshte had enough and ran into the lizard powerfully knocking him out and making him flee back towards the outlands.

Fuli was now on the ground, her back leg swollen from the lizard's bite. Kion was okay, and got up but when he noticed Fuli down he froze.

The guard was doing everything they could to get Fuli to stay awake but eventually she drifted off into a deep sleep passed out from all the toxin that was sent into her.

They then took her to Rafiki's where she rested to get better while Rafiki was trying to heal her.

Kion got so overwhelmed by the lizard's attack that he almost passed out too, but luckily his friends kept him awake just in time to visit Fuli.

He came in and sat down beside the rock where she was laying flat on her back. Kion couldn't stand to see Fuli like this he let out a yelp of sorrow that caught Rafiki's eye.

"Don't you worry lion cub, she'll be alright she just needs time to rest." Said Rafiki running his hands into Kion's mane messing it up, but Kion didn't seem to care.

"When will she be awake Rafiki?" Asked Kion looking up slowly at him his eyes full of sadness.

"Rafiki is not sure but she'll be okay, I think you need to leave her be Rafiki is doing everything he can to heal Fuli." Said Rafiki hitting Kion playfully with his staff.

"Okay." Was all that Kion could say he left the tree despairingly. All he could have on his mind was Fuli. He sighed at the thoughts going on in his head. Is she gonna be alright? Will she ever wake up? Will that lizard come back? Over and over his thoughts kept flooding him making him feel trapped in an empty space that he couldn't escape from.

The guard came up to him trying to cheer him up. But nothing seemed to work. Without Fuli by his side, he felt like an empty soul.

Three days passed by, and it was the fourth day Kion came to visit Fuli. Fuli was still asleep not waking up from what seemed like for days. At this point, Kion was starting to get really worried. But then all of the sudden, Kion heard a groan and looked up from the ground and saw that Fuli was awake. He ran into nuzzle her tightly than before, tears started streaming his eyes Fuli noticed and comforted him. Kion called Rafiki in and Rafiki gave Fuli a bowl of water for her to drink so that she could talk clearly.

"So, how long have I been out?" Asked Fuli looking up at Rafiki.

"Well for about three days Kion was so worried about you, he couldn't stop thinking about you for days HAHA!" Replied Rafiki jokingly.

Kion blushed profusely at his comment.

"Aw really? you really were worried about me?" Asked Fuli turning to look at Kion who was shaking nervously.

"Y- yeah you know I mean of course I thought you'd never wake up." Replied Kion smiling and blushing at Fuli.

"That's really sweet of you Kion, thank you." Said Fuli getting up from the rock to lick him on the cheek affectionately.

"Anyway, where's everyone else?" Asked Fuli glancing around inside Rafiki's tree for no sign of her friends.

"Oh uh.. they didn't want to interfere with anything because I told them not to.. but I can go get them now and tell them you're up." Said Kion nervously.

"Seriously Kion? what am I gonna do with you! and yeah you should probably go do that."

"Haha yeah, be right back!" Said Kion, running out of Rafiki's tree to get his friends.

"Hey Guys! cmon Fuli's awake!" Exclaimed Kion urging for his friends to follow him.

"Zuka Zama! she is!?" Exclaimed Bunga.

"Yep, cmon guys lets go!" Shouted Kion. They all follow him inside Rafiki's tree and all hugged Fuli happily.

"Ha, nice to see you guys again." Said Fuli smiling at all of them that were circled around her inside the tree.

Meanwhile.. BACK IN THE OUTLANDS....

"Maybe you  should stop playing around furbrains! Scar will be thrilled once he finds out Kenge has joined his side! HAHAHA!"

"Oh more than thrilled! he'll be perfect to add to our magnificent plan!" Exclaimed Ushari evilly.

*Volcano makes loud noise*

"Whoops I meant, under your plan of course Scar!" Said Ushari quickly recapping his words.

"Exactly, and who is this lizard may I ask?" Asked Scar, the lava bubbled beneath him.

"Oh he's the meanest most toughest lizard there is his name is Kenge." Said Ushari grinning.

They then introduced Kenge to Scar and Scar was pleased with him.

"Wonderful wonderful, now I have a plan but this time Kenge it's your turn to take action." Said Scar grinning at him menacingly.

"Oh m- me? what do I have to do Scar?" Asked Kenge nervously.

"I want you to go back to the pridelands and cause more chaos, more than last time. Then, once Kion and the Lion Guard sees this Kion will get so angry that he'll use the roar in anger and therefore we will become powerful MWAHAHA!" Said Scar laughing evilly amongst his plan.

"And please do not fail me." Said Scar looking at Kenge seriously.

"Oh don't worry Scar I won't." Said Kenge grinning. Kenge then moved out of the volcano and set into action he threatened every animal and sent all the animals crazy. He ripped the leaves off of trees tree by tree.

Back at Rafiki's tree the lion guard said goodbye to Rafiki and there it was Kenge the bad lizard was there smashing everything in the pridelands sending animals everywhere.

Kion's eyes grew angry with fury he had never been so angry with a lizard before.

The guard had to decide to step in, since they were the lion guard and they can't back down no mater what.

Kion walked up the rock up above to face Kenge his claws unsheathed. He growled in pure anger, as he let out a yell.

"YOU BETTER LEAVE THE PRIDELANDS NOW KENGE! YOU DON'T BELONG IN THE PRIDE LANDS!" Yelled Kion, his neck fur rose as he was on the edge now.

All the lizard did was laugh.

"Oh and what are you gonna do about it!? roar at me Kion? HAHAHA!" Said Kenge evilly.

Kion viciously clawed the ground even more angry than before.

Very dark thunder clouds rose above over Kion. Scar's plan was working.

The guard noticed the thunder clouds up ahead and panicked. Fuli ran up to Kion and told him to stop but Kion wouldn't listen. After Kenge had hurt Fuli, that was the last straw.

"DON'T YOU EVER HURT HER AGAIN!" Shouted Kion he was livid now.

Kenge was running out of comebacks so he said, "AWW Is the little lion cub sad because I hurt his precious love? aw too sweet!" Said Kenge jokingly.

That's when Kion lost it he roared at Kenge the dark, dark clouds above him became darker. Kenge was blown away.

All the trees came flying in the air all their leaves fell to the ground. A huge crack in the ground formed. Kion immediately realized what was happening and fled away. Fuli ran after him. Beshte, Bunga, and Ono came running after them. Kenge was blown back to the outlands. Scar's plan worked. The volcano was erupting even louder it exploded everywhere in the outlands. Scar was gaining more power. And the outlanders will rise....

What will happen to Kion and his friends?

Will they survive?

Will they figure out Scar's alive?
