Chapter Forty Five: First Contact

A few days later, McKenzie was reading a book in the console room while the Doctor was attempting to fix the lights in the swimming pool via the fuse box under the grating.

After a few hours of almost complete silence, the phone rang, startling McKenzie. She rolled her eyes, answering it. "Hello?"

"Is this the Doctor?"

McKenzie laughed. "Close. I'll pass you over." She poked her head down to see her boyfriend properly, offering him the phone. "It's for you."

The Doctor took the phone, frowning. "Yeah?"

"Doctor. I'm calling to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative."

McKenzie could only watch and frown as all the colour drained out of the Time Lord's face.
