𝐒ince that day, Gwi-nam's jealousy towards Cheong-san intensified, not only directed at him but also at anyone else who casually tried to capture Na-hee's attention.
The bullying towards Jin-su escalated to a terrifying level, with Gwi-nam nearly crossing the line into violence, almost killing Jin-su before being stopped by others. "Jin-su deserves it." Gwi-nam thought bitterly to himself, frustration boiling within him.
He threw his bag on the ground and kicked it over and over, finding some strange comfort in seeing others in pain, which took his mind off his own jealousy. Gwi-nam sat down in his chair, running his hands through his hair, trying to calm down. His admiration for Na-hee continued to grow, an obsession that he could not shake off.
His eyes wandered around his room, landing on the countless pictures of Na-hee plastered all over his wall, filled with pictures of Na-hee from her social media. For a moment, he felt soft inside as he looked at her smiling face. But then, he spotted a picture of her classmate, who was also trying to win Na-hee's heart. Anger rushed back into him, pushing away any calm he had found.
"I'll do whatever it takes" he whispered to himself, determination in his voice. In a fit of rage, he grabbed a knife from his table, its blade shining in the dim light. He threw it at the picture of his rival, the sound of it hitting the wall ringing in the quiet room. "Kim Na-hee... you make me crazy" he breathed out, trying to steady himself, but the chaos inside him only grew stronger.
The sound of crickets filled the empty street, their chirping echoing in the quiet night. A cool breeze gently moved the leaves on the nearby trees, adding a soft rustling sound. The moon shone brightly in the sky, casting a gentle light on the ground and showing the way ahead.
Na-yeon felt the cool air on her skin, and the mix of the crickets' sounds and the rustling leaves made the night feel both calm and a little spooky. She felt restless, even though it was the middle of the night and she was still sick. Stubborn as she was, she carefully put on her shoes, craving a calming walk outside. She knew her street was safe and protective, so she didn't worry about walking alone. That's what SHE thinks.
However, a small voice in her head told her she shouldn't go out. But Na-yeon brushed it off, eager to escape the boredom of being stuck at home.
She missed her best friend, Na-hee, and in just a few days, she would finally be able to see her at school again. Texting was nice, but it wasn't the same as hanging out in person. To keep warm, she decided to wear a black jacket since it was quite chilly, and her cold was only getting worse.
As she stepped outside, the stars twinkled above her, almost as if they were warning her to turn back. The streetlights flickered on, guiding her path as she walked. Na-yeon planned to take a short stroll and not stay out too long. Being cooped up in the house was becoming boring, and she needed a change of scenery.
But as she walked, she suddenly felt a chill run down her spine. She glanced behind her, sensing something was off, and quickened her pace back toward home. The peaceful night had taken on a scary vibe. Just then, a noise from a nearby alley caught her attention. She hesitated, feeling a mix of fear and curiosity.
Then she heard it, a cat crying in pain. Na-yeon felt a wave of relief wash over her, but her heart also ached for the poor animal. Slowly, she took a step forward, wanting to help. The cat's cries became louder, and her breath caught in her throat.
Feeling a surge of courage, she backed up against the wall and closed her eyes for a moment. *Was it really worth it to go after that cat?* she wondered. But then another thought crossed her mind, *What if I rescue it? Na-hee would be so proud of me!*
With renewed determination, Na-yeon stepped away from the wall and moved closer to the alleyway. The cat's cries grew clearer, and she could see the little creature in distress. Just as she was about to approach, she noticed a figure standing nearby. Panic surged through her, and she quickly hid, pressing her hands over her mouth to silence her breathing.
Peeking out cautiously, Na-yeon's eyes widened in shock. She recognized the person standing there, there was no way she could be mistaken! But why weren't they helping the poor cat? Confusion and worry filled her mind as she tried to figure out what was happening.
Na-yeon felt her eyes widen at the horrifying scene unfolding before her. Her breath quickened, and her hands instinctively cover her mouth more, stifling a gasp of terror. She took a cautious step back, her heart racing as she watched in disbelief. The figure in front of her was setting fire to a helpless cat, its desperate cries piercing the air.
Panic rushed through her, and she slowly turned to run away, her legs shaking. She was already coughing because of her cold, and the smoke made it worse. Despite her coughing, she couldn't help but glance back. With each step, she looked over her shoulder, feeling sad and scared for the innocent animal. The flames flickered in the alleyway, Na-yeon felt a mix of fear and anger as she ran, wanting to escape the awful scene she had just witnessed.
"I knew they couldn't be trusted."
A few days have passed, and Na-hee and Cheong-san are currently going viral on Hyosan High due to their recent PE accident. The incident occurred during a routine physical education class when a playful game of dodgeball took an unexpected turn.
(whispering) "Did you see how Cheong-san looked at Na-hee while he was carrying her? I think he likes her!"
(giggling) "Of course he does! You can see it in his eyes!"
(Mumbling) "they really do look good together!"
(Whispering) "I wonder what Gwi-nam is feeling right now, he looks grumpy!"
Na-hee feels her cheeks flush with embarrassment. No matter how much she protested about going to the nurse, Cheong-san would not listen to her. The student might have seen Cheong-san carrying her in the hallway, even though she could walk, but again, Cheong-san did not hear her. Even the nurse teased the girl about it, causing her cheeks to flush with embarrassment.
Her face turned even redder when Cheong-san took her hand in front of the nurse and asked, "Are you sure you're alright, Na-hee? Do you want me to stay here?" Na-hee felt a rush of emotions, remembering that exact moment.
She wanted to scream when the news spread, and her classmates started teasing her. They had no idea that she was already pursuing someone special. Na-hee felt embarrassed but also excited about her secret. She wished her classmates would understand that her feelings were real and that there was more to her story than they knew.
It was break time, and Na-hee made her way towards Na-yeon, sitting down beside her to complain. She threw her hands up to her face in frustration. "Ya, I can't believe this is happening right now!" she exclaimed. "If only you were there-"
Na-hee suddenly stopped when she noticed Na-yeon wasn't her usual self. Na-yeon stared blankly at her table, not moving an inch. Na-hee raised an eyebrow at her sudden silence and leaned in closer. "Ya! Yeoni! Is something bothering you?" Na-hee asked, her curiosity piqued. "Are you sick again?"
She gently placed her hand on Na-yeon's forehead, hoping to check for a fever. This action seemed to wake Na-yeon from her daze. "What?" Na-yeon replied, looking up at Na-hee with a confused expression.
"You look out of it. Is something bothering you, Yeoni?" Na-hee asked, her face filled with concern.
"I-" Na-yeon started to speak, but then she caught a glimpse of someone across the room, and her words got stuck in her throat. Na-hee tilted her head, puzzled. "Na-yeon?" she asked again, trying to get her friend's attention.
Na-yeon quickly put on a smile, but it didn't reach her eyes. "Yeah, I'm okay. I just need to go to the bathroom" she said, standing up from her seat.
Na-hee stood up too. "I'll come with you" she offered, wanting to make sure Na-yeon was alright.
"N-no, it's okay! I can go by myself" Na-yeon insisted, her voice a bit shaky as she rushed away from Na-hee.
Na-hee watched her go, feeling a knot of worry in her stomach. *What's going on with Na-yeon?* she thought to herself, genuinely concerned for her friend.
Na-hee sat back down, her mind racing with thoughts about Na-yeon. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was seriously wrong.
I-sak noticed the worried look on Na-hee's face as she slowly walked over to her. She sat down next to Na-hee and gently placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Na-hee, are you okay? I saw you with Na-yeon earlier" I-sak asked, her voice filled with concern.
Na-hee managed a small smile, appreciating I-sak's kindness. "Something is bothering Na-yeon, but she won't tell me what it is" Na-hee replied, taking a deep breath. "I'm just really worried about her."
I-sak gave her shoulder a gentle tap, trying to comfort her. "It's okay, Na-hee! Maybe Na-yeon just needs some alone time right now. It could be because of her cold" I-sak suggested, smiling warmly at her friend.
Na-hee nodded, feeling a bit better. "Yeah, I think I'll give her some space. Maybe that will help clear her mind" she said to I-sak, feeling hopeful.
A few days ago, it was cold, but now it suddenly feels hot. Lunch was over, and everyone was seated at their desks while Mr. Lee Byeong-chan was teaching the students. The heat was intense, and Na-hee had forgotten to bring her mini fan, so she was using a piece of paper to fan herself and ease the discomfort.
Nam-ra noticed that Na-hee was struggling to pay attention to the lesson because she kept fanning herself. Feeling a bit concerned, Nam-ra decided to share her fan with Na-hee. "Let's share." she said, gently tapping Na-hee's shoulder to get her attention.
Na-hee stopped fanning herself and looked up in surprise, her eyes wide. "Really?" she asked, a big smile spreading across her face.
Nam-ra nodded, her expression softening just a little as she looked at Na-hee. "Of course." she replied, her usual serious face now showing a hint of warmth.
"Thank you, Nam-ra!" Na-hee exclaimed happily as they both shared the fan together. With the cool breeze from the fan, Na-hee found it easier to focus on the lesson. It felt nice to share this moment, and it seemed like Na-hee was making progress in breaking through Nam-ra's icy exterior.
When Nam-ra returned, Na-hee was the first person who greeted her. Nam-ra felt her heart slowly warming up to Na-hee. She was even more surprised when she discovered that Na-hee had written her notes for the classes she missed.
A few months ago when she was chosen as the class president, even though her mom had pushed her into it, Na-hee was the very first person to congratulate her. She even gave Nam-ra a matching keychain as a gift. Nam-ra felt embarrassed, so she kept the keychain inside her bag, worried about what Na-hee might think.
However, deep down, Nam-ra felt her heart warming up to Na-hee. It made her feel happy and motivated to do her best in her new role. It was nice to know that someone believed in her, and it gave her a sense of purpose and encouragement to keep going.
This thoughtful gesture truly warmed Nam-ra's heart and made her feel appreciated. It was a small act of kindness that showed Na-hee cared, and it made Nam-ra realize how important Na-hee is to her.
The classroom felt a little warmer, not just from the heat, but from the kindness shared between them. But that was broken when Mr. Lee began writing on the board harshly, the noises echoing in the classroom and even waking up Su-hyeok from his slumber.
"What's going on?" Na-hee mumbled to herself, looking up from her drawing and glancing toward Mr. Lee. He was writing much quicker now, the chalk scraping against the board hurting their ears. It was strange how all the students' attention was fixed on Mr. Lee, their expressions a mix of confusion and concern.
Suddenly, he stopped writing, and the atmosphere in the room felt serious and tense. Mr. Lee then hurried out of the classroom, leaving the students exchanging worried glances.
"Ya? What was that?" Dae-su exclaimed as he stood up, his voice breaking the silence. The classroom buzzed with whispers as everyone tried to make sense of the sudden turn of events.
"That was weird" Na-hee commented, resting her chin on her hand. Her eyes were fixed on the spot where Mr. Lee had just stood. She looked around the classroom and noticed her classmates chatting about what had just happened.
Na-hee struggled with her thoughts, reminding herself that it wasn't her business to interfere in Mr. Lee's situation. After all, it could be something personal that he didn't want anyone to know about.
Meanwhile, Na-yeon was staring down at her desk, feeling uneasy. She caught a strange smell that seemed to come from Mr. Lee, and it made her feel even more uncomfortable.
Na-yeon quickly waved her hand in front of her nose, trying to swat the smell away. "Why is everything turning out so weird?" she mumbled to herself, feeling confused and a little anxious about the whole situation.
That night left Na-yeon feeling anxious and uneasy. She couldn't shake off the events that had unfolded. With a deep sigh escaping her lips, she whispered to herself, "I knew I shouldn't have gone out that night." She rested her head on her desk, feeling the weight of her thoughts pressing down on her.
*I didn't listen to my instincts enough* she thought, wishing she had trusted her gut feeling. The room was loud, and the atmosphere outside only added to her worries. Na-yeon knew she needed to be more careful in the future, but for now, all she could do was hope that tomorrow would be better.
As Na-hee was doodling, she couldn't help but overhear her classmates' discussion. She really did have good hearing, didn't she? The others crowded around I-sak and On-jo's table, even though On-jo didn't want them there.
"Yah, did you see what happened?" Dae-su started, draping his arm around Wu-jin.
"Yeah, we all saw it" Wu-jin replied, clearing his throat.
Hyo-ryung leaned in closer, her hand on her face, curiosity shining in her eyes. "What could it be?" she asked eagerly.
"I heard..." I-sak began, and all their eyes turned to her, begging for her to continue.
"His son, Jin-su, is getting bullied very badly" I-sak said, her voice dropping as she finished. The shock on everyone's faces was clear as they processed the news.
"I guess that's why Mr. Lee was in such a rush today" I-sak added, sinking back into her seat, feeling the weight of the conversation.
Na-hee stopped doodling and tapped her notebook with her pencil, her brow furrowing in thought. *Jin-su, Jin-su? That name sounds familiar...* she pondered, her eyes widening as realization hit her. *He's the one Gwi-nam was bullying!* The thought echoed loudly in her mind.
Na-hee felt a wave of sympathy for the boy, and her anger towards Gwi-nam continued to rise. She couldn't believe that someone would treat Jin-su so poorly, and she knew she had to do something about it.
Na-hee felt her other phone in her skirt pocket. She was a stubborn person, and while everyone else's phones were in the teachers' office, she managed to hide one of hers today. She pulled out her phone, making sure to keep it out of everyone's view. When she looked at her contacts, she saw countless messages from Gwi-nam that she hadn't opened.
*How did he get my number anyway?* Na-hee felt a little creeped out. She sighed, unable to believe she was doing this.
She then texted Gwi-nam, asking him to meet her on the rooftop before the start of the students clean up. After sending the message, she closed her phone, feeling a sense of regret wash over her. But this was her chance to finally tell Gwi-nam that she didn't fully like him, hoping to end his admiration for her. Na-hee took a deep breath and tried to feel confident.
Na-hee stood on the rooftop, glancing at her watch, anxiety creeping in. "Where is he?" she muttered to herself. She needed to get back to class soon to find out where she would be assigned for cleanup duty. Just then, she heard a familiar voice behind her.
"I'm here" Gwi-nam said, startling her. She turned around to see him, his usual smug expression plastered on his face, his hair still styled the same way she remembered.
"We need to talk about something serious, Gwi-nam" she said, trying to keep her tone steady.
"Are you confessing?" he teased, a smirk playing on his lips.
Na-hee shook her head vigorously, annoyance bubbling inside her. "Yah! Let me finish!" she snapped, crossing her arms defiantly.
"And no, I'm not confessing" she added, watching as Gwi-nam's expression shifted from hope to disappointment.
"You should stop bullying people, Gwi-nam. You're crossing the line!" she told him firmly.
Gwi-nam clicked his tongue in frustration, stepping closer to her. "I told you I'm doing this for you! Why can't you see that?" he replied, his voice rising with anger.
"Doing this for me? Why? You're hurting people!" Na-hee shot back, standing her ground.
"I don't care" Gwi-nam said dismissively, his eyes narrowing.
Na-hee felt a rush of determination. She glanced at the time again and took a step closer to him, her heart racing. "If you're doing this just to get my attention, it's not working. I don't like you, Gwi-nam. You need to stop this" she declared, her voice steady. Without waiting for a response, she turned and hurried back to her classroom, relief washing over her for finally standing up to him.
Gwi-nam stood frozen, anger boiling inside him. "KIM NA-HEE!" he yelled after her retreating figure, but she didn't look back. Frustrated, he kicked the rooftop door repeatedly, each thud echoing his rage.
"It's because of that damn Lee Cheong-san, isn't it?!" he shouted, his fists clenched tightly as he struggled to contain his emotions.
Gwi-nam's feelings for Na-hee intensify to a disturbing level as he becomes consumed by an obsessive desire to possess her. His hand tangled in his hair in frustration, a furious expression darkening his features.
"I swear I'm going to kill that bastard" he muttered under his breath, his heart racing with a mix of jealousy and desperation.
