Chapter II
15:56, 5 March 2017Chapter II, whoo! hope u guys enjoy :)----------------------------------------------
Once we arrived back at the apartment, Matt carried Mello back to the room because he was too heavy for me to lift. He placed Mello on the couch for now because it was closer than his bedroom.
I wasted no time in running into the bathroom to grab the first aid kit we kept in the cabinet, we decided to keep one in there a while back after Mello accidentally shot himself, the idiot...
I came back into the room with the kit and a few soft towels to clean up the blood in his wounds.
"Matt, I need you to fill a bucket with water okay?" I asked. He nodded and disappeared into the laundry room.
Moments pass and he came back with the bucket of water and placed it beside me.
As I put the multiple rags in the water to soak, Matt grabbed his keys, I turn to him with a confused look.
"Mello will need some painkillers when he wakes up, we don't have any in the apartment so I'm heading out to get some, I'll be back in a bit, just keep his burns hydrated okay?" He said and walked out the door.
I found it strange that Matt was so calm this whole time, especially over the phone, but I know he's just as worried about him as I am, he's Mello's best friend.
Mello's vest was slightly burned too, so the burn must be on his body too. I blushed at the idea of having to take off his vest to inspect the burns. But I shook it off.
He's my best friend and he's badly hurt, I can't seriously be acting so unprofessional right now...
Gaining the courage, I unzipped his vest and carefully took it off, I now had a more clear look at where the burns were and how bad they were.
The burn appears to begin between his left shoulder and waist and extends up to just between his nose and left eye. As for the burn itself, it appears to be a 1st degree burn.
His face seemed to be the most effected area. So that's where I decided to start.
I grab a clean, wet rag and begin the process of cleaning out the blood in his face burn, I just hoped he couldn't feel the pain.
I proceeded to clean out the rest of the wounds and after I was done, I unscrew a bottle of antibiotic ointment and pour it onto a rag.
Carefully, I begin to disinfect the wounds, from the face, to the shoulder then the waist.
Suddenly, his breath begins to slow. Alarmed, I bring my ear to his chest, listening for a rhythm. It was even slower than when I found him.
There was only one thing I could do.
But should I do it?
Mello would kill me for sure, he'd never ask anyone for help.
Especially not HIM.
But what choice did I have? Mello will die if I don't do something, he's lost too much blood, and I can't take him to a hospital.
"Sorry Mells, I don't have a choice" I whispered to the comatose blonde.
I dialled the number and waited.
Beep... Beep... Be-
"Hello? Who is this?" A feminine voice was heard on the other end of the phone.
"You can address me as (letter of first name), I need to speak with Near, this is a matter of life and death" I explained.
There was a slight pause, then I heard a familiar voice, a voice I haven't heard in over 3 years.
"(Y/n)? What's the matter?" He asked gently.
***I always took the time to talk with Near back at the orphanage, I sometimes even joined him in doing puzzles, so I guess we were friends.***
"It's Mello, the hideout exploded and-" I tried to explain but Near cut me off.
"Yes, I heard about what happened. No need to explain, what is the closest hospital at your location?" Near asked.
"Umm... Cedar Central Hospital"
"Alright, I'll make sure all of Mello's details are protected, don't worry, just take him there" Near assured me.
"Thanks Near, I owe you one" I smiled.
"Don't worry about it, in only doing this because I can't have Mello out of the game yet" he went back to his monotone voice, almost mimicking L's.
"I'll take him there now, see ya" I say before hanging up the phone.
I decided I would have to text Matt about where I was going in case he got back and Mello and I were both missing, so I sent him the following:
Matt,
Mello's heart rate was dropping so I called Near for help, he said to take Mello to the hospital and he'd make sure Mello's information was protected, I should be back by tonight.
(Y/n), xoxo
