Epilogue
12:55, 17 March 2025STACEY'S POV
If someone had told me years ago that I'd end up marrying a girl as stubborn as Jhoanna Robles, I would've laughed in their face.
My hair was styled in a classic updo, with a few loose strands framing my face. My makeup?
"Wow," I whispered to myself, fixing the neckline of my dress. "This... feels real."
"As it should be," Mikha chimed in from behind, arms crossed, smirking at me through the mirror. "So 'wag ka nang mag-panic diyan, Sevilleja. Wala nang atrasan."
Napairap ako. "Sino bang may balak umatras? Obvious namang excited ako."
"Suuure," she teased, clearly enjoying my nervous energy. "Pero seryoso, Staku. Ready ka na ba talaga?"
I took a deep breath. Ready? But then Jhoanna happened.
She changed everything.
She made me believe na possible pala 'yung mga bagay na dati, tingin ko imposible. She made me want something I never imagined having-a home, not just in a place, but in a person.
"Yeah," I answered, no hesitation. "I'm ready."
Mikha grinned. "Good. 'Cause there's no backing out now."
FEW DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING
"Jho, seryoso?
We locked eyes, neither of us backing down. If someone else heard our conversation, they'd probably think we were arguing over who gets the last slice of pizza-not our actual wedding procession.
"Okay, okay!" singit ni Aiah na kanina pa tahimik na kumakain ng cake.
"Magiging mediator ako dito. Simple lang naman 'yan, di ba usually 'yung groom ang naghihintay sa altar?"
"Sino'ng groom?!" sabay naming sigaw ni Jhoanna.
"Ugh," she rolled her eyes. "Kaya nga 'usually' sabi ko, Jho."
"Well, wala namang rule na nagsasabing isa lang ang pwedeng maglakad sa aisle," singit ni Mikha habang nagta-type sa phone niya. "Pwede naman kayong sabay?"
"Sabay?" sabay din naming tanong ni Jhoanna.
"Yeah," she nodded. "Imagine niyo, kayong dalawa sabay na papasok, walking towards the aisle."
Nagkatinginan kami ni Jhoanna.
"Pwede..." bulong ko.
Napansin kong nakangiti na siya. "Pwede nga."
But before we could even settle the aisle-walking debate, an even bigger argument exploded.
"Okay, fine, sabay tayong maglalakad," sabi ni Jhoanna. "Pero may isa pang issue na kailangan nating ayusin."
"Ano na naman?"
"Ano'ng apelyido ang gagamitin natin after the wedding?" seryoso niyang tanong.
Napataas ang kilay ko. "Uh, syempre Sevilleja."
"Hoy, bakit naman Sevilleja agad?" umirap siya. "Ano ako, walang sariling identity?"
"Jho, ganyan naman talaga 'pag kinasal, di ba? Usually, 'yung apelyido ng isa ang ginagamit ng partner niya-"
"Usually," she repeated. "Eh paano kung gusto ko ring ipasa ang apelyido ko?"
"Eh di gawin mong middle name," sagot ko, feeling matalino.
"Ganon? Eh bakit hindi ikaw ang gumawa nun?"
"Aba, teka lang, ako 'yung mas may established na pangalan dito-" sarcastic kong sagot
"Excuse me? Established? Hello, Stacey, kilala ako sa buong campus ng Calamba Institute noon bilang Robles! Alam mong lakas ng recall ng apelyido ko."
"Oh? Are you trying to say that the Sevilleja name isn't well-known?"
"Eh hindi naman kasi ako sanay sa tunog na 'Jhoanna Christine Sevilleja'-"
"And me? I'm not used to 'Lindtsey Stacey Aubrey Robles' either"
"Eh di maghiwalay na lang tayo!"
"Ah sige, tara!"
We locked eyes, both burning with frustration, but after a few seconds... we ended up laughing at the same time.
"Ano ba 'yan," umiling si Jhoanna, natawa. "Sa dami ng pwede nating pagtalunan, pati apelyido pinag-aawayan natin?"
"Well, big deal kasi 'yun, no."
Napaisip kami sandali.
"Ano kaya kung pagsamahin na lang natin?" I suggested.
"Sevilleja-Robles?" she asked.
"Or Robles-Sevilleja," I countered.
"Hay naku!" sumandal siya sa upuan niya, umirap pero nakangiti. "Sige, bahala na, coin toss na lang 'to sa wedding day natin."
Napangiti ako. "Deal."
And that's when we realized that even over the smallest things, we never run out of reasons to argue-but what matters is that we always find a way to meet halfway.
BACK TO PRESENT...
"Stacey?"
I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at Mikha through the mirror.
"You look ridiculous," she chuckled.
"Huh?"
"You've been grinning to yourself for like five minutes," she teased.
I grimaced. "So, ano? Anong tingin mo? Walk or wait?"
She smirked. "Honestly? You should wait."
I blinked. "Talaga?"
"Yeah," she nodded. "Kasi alam ko gusto mong makita si Jhoanna na naglalakad papunta sa 'yo."
I stared at my reflection, her words sinking in.
Then, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in," I called out.
The door opened, revealing someone I hadn't seen in a while-Mom.
My breath hitched. She was wearing a soft beige dress, her eyes gentle but hesitant, as if she wasn't sure if she was welcome.
Mikha glanced at me before subtly excusing herself, leaving us alone.
For a moment, no one spoke.
Then, she smiled softly. "You look beautiful, anak."
I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Thanks."
She walked closer, her gaze scanning my dress, my makeup-me, standing here on my wedding day.
"I can't believe this is happening again," she said, almost like she was talking to herself. "Parang kailan lang, ang dami nating pinag-awayan. And now, you're here. Getting married for real."
I let out a small chuckle, pero may bahid ng lungkot. "Yeah. A lot has changed."
She sighed. "Stacey..." Her voice softened. "I wanted to see you before the ceremony because... I owe you an apology."
I stiffened. "Mom-"
She shook her head. "Please, let me say this."
I pressed my lips together, nodding.
She took a deep breath. "I was wrong. About so many things. About Jhoanna, about your relationship, about how I let your father control everything. And I regret it, anak. I regret not standing up for you sooner. I regret letting you feel like you had to fight this battle alone."
I looked away, my hands clenching slightly. The past was something I tried to move on from, pero mahirap kalimutan.
"I wanted to believe that your dad was just doing what he thought was best," she continued, her voice breaking slightly. "Pero mali siya. And I was wrong for letting him hurt you... and Jhoanna."
I inhaled sharply, my chest tightening.
"And I'm sorry," she whispered. "For everything."
I didn't realize I was gripping the fabric of my gown until I felt the strain on my fingers.
"Mom, I..." I exhaled, closing my eyes for a second. "I appreciate this. Really. But I also-" I swallowed, hesitant. "I feel guilty too."
She frowned. "Why?"
I met her gaze, and for the first time, I admitted, "Because I never got to fix things with Dad."
Her face softened.
"He was terrible to me, to Jhoanna. He tried to control everything. And for so long, I resented him for it," I confessed. "Pero noong nawala siya... I don't know. I felt like I should've done something. Maybe tried harder to understand him. Or at least, talked to him one last time before..."
My voice trailed off.
Mom reached for my hand, squeezing it gently. "Your father... he loved you in the only way he knew how. It wasn't right, it wasn't fair, and it hurt you. But anak, his mistakes are not yours to carry. You don't owe him forgiveness if you're not ready. And you don't have to feel guilty for living your life the way you want to."
I looked down, my grip on her hand tightening.
"It's okay to move forward, Stacey," she said softly. "It's okay to be happy."
I felt my chest lighten just a little. Maybe I wasn't fully healed. Maybe I never would be.
But I was ready to let go.
I nodded, blinking back the tears that threatened to fall.
Mom smiled, then wiped the corner of my eye gently. "Ayusin mo 'yan, baka pagalitan ka ni Jhoanna kung masira makeup mo."
I laughed lightly. "She'll marry me either way."
"Of course," she chuckled. "She loves you."
Mom exhaled, then stood up straight. "I should go take my seat. But... I just want to say that I'm proud of you, anak."
A lump formed in my throat again, but this time, it wasn't from sadness-it was from something warmer.
"Thank you mommy," I whispered.
She gave me one last look before stepping out of the room.
As soon as she left, I turned back to the mirror.
My reflection was the same. But somehow, I felt lighter.
I exhaled.
I was ready.
For Jhoanna.
For this moment.
For the life we were about to start together.

JHOANNA'S POV
"Sigurado ka na ba talaga?" tanong ni Ate Colet habang inaayos ang veil ko.
Napairap ako. "Ate Colet, ilang beses ko bang sasabihin? Oo na."
"Okay, okay," she raised her hands. "Pero 'di ko gets kung bakit sabay pa kayong lalakad ni Stacey. 'Di ba dapat may isa sa inyo ang maghihintay sa altar?"
I smirked. "We tried to decide, pero obviously, we both wanted the other to walk down the aisle. So, para walang talo, sabay na lang kami. Suggestion din yun ng Mekaya"
Gwen laughed. "Pati ba naman yung dalawa dinamay nyo pa"
Sheena grinned. "Honestly, I love it. It's so you two."
I smiled, thinking about Stacey.
"At least, may isang bagay na napagkasunduan niyo," Pang aasar ni Ate Colet. "Unlike yung apelyido issue-"
"Hoy!" I groaned. "Huwag niyo ng ipaalala"
Napatingin ako sa isang sulok ng kwarto, kung saan nakapatong ang marriage certificate namin. It wasn't even signed yet, but Stacey and I were already heated over whose last name we were going to use.
"Sevilleja-Robles?" I asked.
"Or Robles-Sevilleja," she countered.
"Hay naku!,Sige, bahala na, coin toss na lang 'to sa wedding day natin." Sabi ko
Napangiti sya. "Deal."
"Here you go again, arguing again!" sigaw ni Mikha noon.
"Anong gusto nyo? Pag nagka anak kayo iba iba apelyido?" singit ni Aiah, causing everyone to laugh.
Anak, huh?
The thought made my heart race a little. I never really thought about it before-not seriously, at least. Pero now that Aiah mentioned it, hindi ko maalis sa isip ko.
Maybe one day.
_
For now, all I wanted was to finally stand beside the woman I loved.
The wedding march started playing.
My heart raced.
This was it.
I took a deep breath as the doors opened. And standing on the other side-
Was Stacey.
Our eyes met. We smiled at each other.
Nakatayo sa kabilang side ng entrance, wearing a crisp white gown that fit her perfectly. Her hair was styled neatly, but there was that one stubborn strand sticking out-
She looked breathtaking.
She smiled. A small, almost disbelieving smile, as if she still couldn't believe this was real.
"Okay ka lang?" bulong niya, her voice softer than usual.
I nodded, squeezing her hand. "Ikaw?"
"Never been better."
We looked at each other one last time before turning to face the aisle.
At sabay kaming humakbang.
It's weird. After all the times Stacey and I have argued and competed, this is the first time we're completely in sync.
She glanced at me. "Paunahan nalang kaya tayo sa Altar?" she whispered teasingly.
I gave her a playful glare. "Huwag mo 'kong i-tempt, Sevilleja."
Everything still felt like us.
Finally, we reached the altar.
STACEY'S POV
I stood facing Jhoanna, her hand tightly holding mine. Her smile was radiant, her eyes shimmering with so much emotion. I swear, I've never seen her look this beautiful. She was like the morning sun-her presence, her smile-everything.
My heart was racing, but not because of nerves-because of excitement.
This is it.
Finally.
She's going to be my wife and not my mistress anymore.
The officiant cleared his throat, signaling the start of the ceremony.
"We are gathered here today to witness the union of-"
BANG!
Jhoanna and I froze as all the guests turned their heads toward the direction of the voice. Some gasped, others whispered to each other, and I could feel the tension in the air.
A tall figure stood at the entrance, catching his breath, as if he had run a marathon just to get here.
Si Gelo.
In his stupidly formal yet slightly disheveled suit.
"Stop the wedding!" he shouted again, louder this time. It was obvious she was playing the dramatic lead role-one she never even auditioned for.
Mikha gasped, her eyes wide in shock. "Oh my God-"
"ANO DAW?!" sigaw ni Sheena, gulat na gulat.
Meanwhile, Jhoanna was gripping my hand so tightly na pakiramdam ko mapuputol na mga daliri ko.
Dahan-dahan akong humarap kay Gelo, ang kilay ko nakataas.
I slowly turned to Gelo, one eyebrow raised.
"Gelo," I said, my voice dangerously low. "Anong pinagsasabi mo?"
He stopped in his tracks, still panting.
"Joke lang, guys. Nalate lang ako."
Silence.
As in, dead silent.
It felt like the whole world just stopped.
I looked at Jhoanna. She blinked.
I looked at the guests.
They all seemed like they hadn't processed what just happened.
I looked back at Gelo.
"You..." I started, my voice shaking. "You stupid-"
"IBABATO KO NA BA TO'?!" sigaw ni Sheena, hawak-hawak na ang heels niya na parang bato.
"Huwag, baka di na tayo abutin sa reception!," pigil ni Colet, pero halata sa mukha niya na gusto niya ring itapon si Gelo palabas ng simbahan.
Mikha groaned, rubbing her temples. "Gelo, what the hell, we thought you had some life-changing revelation-turns out you were just late?!"
Gelo chuckled nervously, clearly realizing he just made the biggest mistake of his life. "Sorry, sorry! Akala ko tapos na! besides ginawa na yun noon ni Jho sa wedding namin before HAHAHAHAH"
I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to bring myself back into the wedding mindset.
But then, I heard Jhoanna's soft, suppressed laughter.
"Babe," she whispered.
"Hmm?"
"Gusto mo ba ipatumba ko na ngayon o pagkatapos na ng kasal?"
Napangiti ako, kahit gusto kong magmura sa inis. "Pagkatapos na lang, para hindi ma-cancel 'to."
She giggled, squeezing my hands. "Fine."
The people around us started laughing, and little by little, the tension in the church faded.
Gelo, realizing that he was two seconds away from getting hit by a flying stiletto, raised his hands in surrender. "Peace tayo, guys! Congrats ulit sa inyo!"
Tumingin ako sa kanya nang masama bago binalik ang focus kay Jhoanna.
She squeezed my hands again, her warmth grounding me.
I smiled, letting all the chaos fade away.
This is it.
I love her.
And no interruption-whether it was from an overly dramatic friend or our crazy past-was going to stop us from finally getting our forever.
"Pasensya na po sa abala," I said sweetly, facing the officiant again. "Tuloy na natin 'to baka may sumulpot pang isa."
The guests laughed, the tension completely dissipating.
Jhoanna grinned at me, and I saw nothing but love in her eyes.
And just like that, the wedding continued-this time, with no more interruptions.
JHOANNA'S VOWS
"Stacey," she started, voice shaking slightly. "Did you know I almost didn't recognize you? Well, actually, I almost ruined you"
The guests chuckled, and Stacey raised an eyebrow, smirking.
"I was so caught up in my own heartbreak na hindi ko man lang napansin na ikaw pala ang babaeng literal na babago ng buhay ko. I crashed into your wedding-thinking it was my ex's-and instead of ruining a love story, I somehow found my own."
Stacey laughed softly, shaking her head.
Jhoanna took a deep breath. "That day, you were mad at me-and to be fair, you had every right to be. But even though I messed up, I never thought you would become the most beautiful mistake of my life."
The church filled with soft laughter and sniffles.
"You taught me that love doesn't have to be perfect, that it can come from the most unexpected places, and that sometimes, the best things in life happen when we least expect them. Akala ko noon, love is about grand gestures, about fighting against all odds-pero ikaw ang nagpatunay na love is about showing up, staying, and choosing each other, every single day."
Jhoanna's voice wavered, eyes glistening.
"I promise to always choose you, Stacey. Kahit hindi ako morning person pero gigising ako ng maaga para lang ipagluto ka ng breakfast. Kahit sobrang competitive mo at alam kong di mo ko hahayaang manalo sa kahit anong laro."
Stacey let out a laugh, shaking her head.
"I vow to stand by your side, not just in the happy moments, but also in the difficult ones. To love you when you're strong, and especially when you feel weak. To be your home, just as you have become mine. And most of all, I vow to never, ever crash another wedding again-Because I've already found mine."
The guests erupted in laughter and applause, while Stacey wiped the corner of her eye, smiling.
STACEY'S VOWS
Stacey exhaled deeply before speaking. "You know, Jhoanna, if someone asks me in the future how we met, I honestly don't know if I'll end up crying or laughing."
Jhoanna smirked, wiping a tear from her cheek.
"Of all the people who could've crashed my arrange wedding, it just had to be you. And you were so confident-like you were the main character in a movie."
The crowd laughed again, remembering the story.
"But, Jho, after that day, you became the plot twist I never saw coming. You barged into my life in the most chaotic way possible, and yet, somehow, You also brought me the calm kind of love I've ever experienced."
Jhoanna's lower lip trembled slightly.
"I vow to love you, not just in the big, dramatic moments, but in the quiet, ordinary ones-on nights when we're exhausted but would rather talk than sleep, in all the little moments that you make beautiful."
She paused for a moment, steadying herself.
"I vow to be your anchor when life gets overwhelming, and your biggest cheerleader sa lahat ng gusto mong gawin. I vow to love you in a way that is steady, patient, and real-kahit minsan stubborn ka, kahit lagi mong iniisip na ikaw ang tama, kahit-"
"-kasi tama naman ako," Jhoanna butted in, making the guests laugh.
Stacey rolled her eyes but smiled. "Fine. tama na ako at mali ka"
"I vow to hold your hand through every challenge, to be the person you can always run to, and to remind you, every single day, that you never have to crash another wedding-because you've already found me."
Jhoanna let out a soft laugh, eyes filled with love.
The guests sighed in unison, a mix of admiration filling the church.
The officiant cleared his throat.
"Lindstey Stacey Aubrey Sevilleja," he said, his voice steady. "Do you take Jhoanna Christine Robles to be your lawfully wedded wife? To love and to cherish, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?"
I looked at Jhoanna, my heart racing.
"I do."
Her grip on my hand tightened, as if grounding herself.
"Jhoanna Christine Robles, do you take Lindtsey Stacey Aubrey Sevilleja to be your lawfully wedded wife? To love and to cherish, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?"
She took a deep breath, eyes locked with mine.
"I DOOOO!"
And just like that, the words that sealed everything were spoken.
"You may now kiss your bride."
For a second, neither of us moved.
Then, slowly, I reached for her face, cupping her cheek with my hand.
Jhoanna smiled-the kind of smile that melted every doubt, every fear, every hesitation.
And as I leaned in, closing the distance between us, I knew-
This was forever.
The moment our lips met, time seemed to slow down.
The cheers, the claps, the petals being thrown in the air-everything faded into the background. All I could feel was Jhoanna's warmth, her lips against mine, the way she smiled in the middle of our kiss.
My heart raced, but this time, it wasn't because of nerves. It was because of happiness-pure, overwhelming happiness.
When we finally pulled away, I felt her thumb brush against my cheek, wiping away a tear I didn't even realize had fallen. "Finally, Stacey" she whispered, her voice filled with so much emotion. "We did it."
I chuckled breathlessly. "Against all odds."
She grinned. "Against my own stupidity."
I laughed, shaking my head. "Hoy, kasal na tayo. Tama na 'yang self-sabotage."
The officiant cleared his throat, a knowing smile on his face as he turned to our guests. "Ladies and gentlemen, I now present to you-Mrs. and Mrs. Sevilleja-Robles!"
Or... Robles-Sevilleja?
Crap. We still haven't settled that.
Before I could even turn to Jhoanna to ask, she was already tugging me forward, her fingers interlocked with mine as the music started playing. The church doors opened, sunlight pouring in, creating a golden glow that felt almost cinematic.
We stepped forward together-just like how we entered.
Hand in hand.
Side by side.
Because that's what this relationship was-an equal partnership. A love that refused to take separate steps.
As we walked down the aisle, the petals rained over us, thrown by our overly enthusiastic friends. Gelo, now fully redeemed from his earlier dramatic stunt, was grinning like an idiot, giving us a thumbs-up. Mikha, was fake-crying in the corner, wiping her nonexistent tears with a tissue.
Aiah, beside her, had her arms crossed, glaring at Mikha. "Oh my gosh Meka Lem. Tumigil ka nga, wala namang luha oh"
Sheena and Gwen, meanwhile, were shaking their heads in amusement.
"Hoy, Ate Colet, Ate Maloi, tama na 'yang kaka-video," Gwen scolded, but Maloi just smirked while holding up her phone.
"Excuse me, hindi 'to video lang, ha. Documentary 'to, Ma'am Sevilleja iemail ko nalang copy netong video nyo! ," Maloi defended.
Colet giggled. "Anak nalang ang kulang!"
I paused for a moment.
Anak nanaman?
I glanced at Jhoanna, who was already looking at me with a teasing glint in her eyes.
I smirked. "Gusto mo ba 'yon?"
She bit her lip, pretending to think. "Hmmm. Maybe one day."
I squeezed her hand. "Okay. One day."
She smiled, and for a second, I saw it-our future.
A home filled with love and laughter. Lazy Sundays spent in bed, tangled together. Our annoying but well-meaning friends still barging into our house uninvited. Maybe, one day, little feet running around, tiny hands reaching for us.
A future that we never expected, but one that we now couldn't wait to have.
As we stepped out of the church, the sunlight hit us fully, almost like it was blessing our union. The air was filled with the scent of fresh flowers, the sound of cheers and laughter surrounding us.
And just like that, we walked into a new chapter.
A chapter that started from a mistake-a wrong wedding, a wrong time, a wrong place.
But love has a funny way of turning accidents into destiny.
Because in the end, the Wrong Wedding... Turned into the most right thing that ever happened to us.
The End.
