Evie lay on her bed, staring blankly at the ceiling as the morning sun filled the room. It had already been two days since she last went to college, and in all that time, she had avoided everything and everyone, including Taehyung.
She had not replied to his calls or messages, except for one short text she sent a day ago, saying she was not feeling well. After that, she turned off her phone completely because the thought of seeing a message or hearing news she was not ready for made her anxious.
Even though she had stood up for herself that day, a part of her deeply regretted what happened. She knew she had crossed a dangerous line. The slap, the insultsโeverything had happened so fast, and now she could not stop thinking about the consequences.
The fear in her chest grew heavier every time she remembered what Mia told her on her very first day at collegeโif anyone wanted peace, they should never mess with Jungkook or his friend group.
But that was exactly what she did. She did not just mess with him, she had humiliated him in front of everyone, and now she was afraid of what might come next.
Jungkook was not an ordinary student. He was the son of a board member, and on top of that, his father was a very powerful and wealthy businessman. Even the teachers seemed to avoid getting on his bad side, and here she was, just a normal girl trying to finish her degree quietly. It would not even take him a second to ruin her image, her studies, or her entire future if he wanted to.
She remembered Mia telling her about the kind of things Jungkook had done to people who went against him, and that made her stomach twist with anxiety.
What if he got her thrown out of college? What if he spread lies or did something worse? All she wanted was to study, get her degree, and live a peaceful life. She never meant to get involved in this kind of trouble.
Her father was in the kitchen, preparing breakfast, like he did every morning. Over the past two days, Evie had kept making small excuses to him to avoid going to college. She had lied about headaches, weakness, and not feeling well, and he believed her at first.
But she knew she could not keep doing this forever. At some point, she would have to face the truth, but right now, she was not ready.
There was a soft knock on her bedroom door, and her heart skipped a beat. She quickly sat up and tried to look calm, already preparing herself to lie again.
The door opened and her father stepped inside. He looked at her with concern in his eyes and asked gently, "Aren't you getting ready for college?"
Evie gave him a small smile and said softly, "I don't feel too good today either. I think I should rest a bit more."
Her father frowned slightly, his confusion clear. "It's already been two days, Evie. You've been skipping college, and you don't seem to be that sick. You haven't even gone to the doctor."
She looked away, feeling the guilt rise inside her, but she still said, "It's nothing serious. I think it's just stress or tiredness. I just need some rest."
Her father sighed and sat down beside her for a moment. His voice was gentle but firm. "Evie, take care of yourself, alright? You haven't been acting like yourself these past few days. If something is wrong, you can tell me. I'm your father. I can understand more than you think."
But Evie only gave a small nod and lied again. "I'm fine, really. Just need a little more sleep."
He looked at her for a second, clearly not fully convinced, but he didn't push further. He got up and said, "Alright, but if this continues, we're going to the doctor. No more excuses. And please eat something later."
Evie nodded again without saying much, and he quietly left the room, closing the door behind him.
As soon as he was gone, she let out a deep breath and fell back onto the bed. She hated lying to him, but she had no idea how to explain what she was feeling. All she knew was that she was scaredโscared of Jungkook, scared of what might happen next, and scared of how far this could go.
It had been a while since Evie woke up, and now she was sitting at the dining table, slowly eating her breakfast. Her father had already made breakfast and was now getting ready for the office, dressed in his usual formal clothes. The house was quiet except for the occasional sound of cutlery against the plate, until suddenly, the doorbell rang.
Her father looked up from adjusting his tie and said, "I'll get it."
Evie did not think much of it at first. She continued eating, though her ears picked up the sound of a cheerful voice from the entranceโa loud laugh, and something that sounded like friendly chatter. She paused for a second, confused.
Who would visit their house this early in the morning, especially when her father was about to leave for work?
She looked toward the hallway, her brows slightly furrowed, but then turned back to her plate. She had no energy to think too much.
Moments later, her father stepped into the dining area and he was not alone.
Evie's hand froze mid-air as she stared in disbelief.
It was Taehyung.
He walked in behind her father with an expression that told her he had a lot to say, but was waiting for the right moment. His eyes locked on her like he was holding back a lecture, clearly saving it for when they were alone.
Her father seemed pleasantly surprised by the sudden visit and laughed lightly. "Taehyung, this is totally unexpected. What are you doing here at this hour? Shouldn't you be in college?"
Taehyung smiled politely and replied, "I know, sir, but I was worried about Evie. It's been two days since she came to college, and she left some of her work unfinished. Yesterday, she messaged me that she wasn't feeling well, but after that, she turned off her phone. I got really concerned, so I came to check if she was okay. As her friend, I just wanted to make sure sheโs doing fine."
As he spoke, he gave her father a friendly smile, but his eyes slightly shifted to Evie for a brief moment, and she immediately felt her stomach twist in guilt. He was clearly not buying her excuses, and the look in his eyes made it obvious.
Her father nodded thoughtfully and said, "Yes, she told me she was unwell. I've been telling her to go to the doctor, but she keeps saying she just needs rest. I guess she's a bit stressed these days."
Taehyung turned his full attention to Evie now, giving her a long look. He could tell she was not actually sick. She looked fineโmaybe a bit anxious but not unwell enough to miss two days of college. Still, he did not say anything. Instead, he smiled at her father again and said politely, "I understand. I thought she might be really sick, so I decided to come here before going to college."
Her father nodded, pleased by Taehyungโs concern. "That's very kind of you, Taehyung. Come, sit down. You must be hungry. Join us for breakfast."
Taehyung took the seat across from Evie and sat down calmly. The air between them was a little tense, but they both stayed quiet in front of her father. They exchanged quick glances, and Evie could feel the questions building up behind Taehyungโs eyes.
After a few minutes of small talk, her father finally looked at the clock, picked up his briefcase, and said, "Alright, I should get going. You two talk, and Evie, take care of yourself. Taehyung, thank you for coming by."
Evie nodded silently, while Taehyung stood and gave a polite bow. "Of course, sir. Have a good day at work."
Her father left with a small wave, and as the front door clicked shut, the room suddenly fell quiet.
Evie felt her heart beat faster, knowing she could no longer avoid the conversation that was about to come.
The living room was quiet, almost too quiet, as Taehyung and Evie sat alone. Taehyung sat still, his gaze fixed on her, but Evie avoided looking at him completely. Her eyes were everywhere, on the floor, the walls, her own fingers but not on him. She knew he had questions. She could feel them coming, and she wasn't ready to answer them.
The silence stretched for too long, making her feel more anxious by the second. Finally, she stood up quickly and mumbled, "I should go get some water," trying to excuse herself before he could say anything.
But just as she turned to leave, Taehyung reached out and gently grabbed her wrist. She froze, and in one swift motion, he pulled her toward him. She stumbled slightly, catching herself against his chest, and his hands instinctively moved to her waist to steady her.
She gasped softly, caught off guard by his sudden action. Her eyes widened for a second, but she didn't pull awayโthough she still didn't look into his eyes.
Taehyung's voice was low but firm as he said, "Look at me," tightening his hold just slightly, making sure she couldn't escape the moment.
Slowly, almost hesitantly, Evie raised her eyes to meet his. Her heart was racing, and her hands stayed awkwardly at her sides.
"Why haven't you been coming to college these past two days?" he asked, his tone serious and full of concern.
Evie didn't answer right away. She wasn't ready to tell him the real reason. Instead, she looked away again and whispered, "Why are you even here? You should be in college. You skipped your classes just for this?"
Taehyung let out a small scoff, clearly not buying her attempt to change the topic. "I asked you a question. I didn't come here for you to question me. And for your information, yesโI skipped college. Because if you can ignore me for two days without a word, then I can definitely skip a few lectures to see what's going on with you."
Evie quickly responded, "I wasn't ignoring you. I justโฆ I wasn't feeling well, that's all."
"Don't lie," Taehyung said bluntly, shaking his head. "You're a terrible liar. You look perfectly fine to me. People who are really sickโyou can tell just by looking at them. But you? You seem just fine, healthy enough to argue with me."
Evie opened her mouth to say something but couldn't find any words. She knew he was right. She had no excuse that would sound convincing.
He looked into her eyes, a mixture of frustration and worry in his expression. "You didn't even have the time to answer my calls properly or reply to my messages. Are you really so sick that you couldn't even pick up the phone?"
Evie fumbled with her words, trying to explain herself, "I justโฆ I.. just."
Before she could finish, Taehyung pulled her closer. Her hands naturally rested on his shoulders for balance, and she could feel how close they had gotten. His breath brushed against her skin, and her heart skipped a beat.
"Are you ignoring me because of the kiss?" Taehyung asked, his voice low and intense, his eyes fixed on her like he was trying to read her every thought.
Evie looked at him with confusion, blinking as she replied, "What...?"
Taehyung tighten his hold, his tone sharper this time. "Are you avoiding me because I kissed you and confessed my feelings that day? Is that what this is about? Maybe you did not feel it, and now you are pushing me away."
Evie quickly shook her head and said, "No, Taehyung, it is not like that, I swear."
But the truth was different. She had been avoiding college because of what happened with Jungkook, not because of Taehyung's kiss or his confession. But clearly, Taehyung had misunderstood everything.
He looked at her with narrowed eyes, his jaw clenched slightly as he spoke again. "So you did not like it? Maybe you did not enjoy it, and now to erase it from your mind, you are trying to run away from me?"
"I said no, Taehyung," Evie said firmly, her voice soft but serious. "It is really not like that."
His hands tightened slightly on her waist as he leaned closer and whispered, "Then what is it? You have been ignoring me for days, and I feel like you are regretting it... Regretting what happened between us. That is why you are pretending like nothing happened."
Evie looked up at him, eyes wide, heart pounding as she whispered, "Regretting? Why would I regret it?"
Taehyung stared at her, eyes burning with intensity. "Evie, I kissed you. I confessed to you. And you said nothing. You stayed quiet. So what am I supposed to think?"
Evie took a shaky breath and mumbled under her breath, "If I did not like it, then why would I let someone kiss me in the first place? I let you kiss me... That should be enough to show what I felt."
"But you did not say anything back," Taehyung said with frustration in his voice, "You have been ignoring me since then, and trust me, it messes with my mind. How am I supposed to know what is going on in your head?"
"Oh my god, Taehyung, you are so much sometimes," Evie said as she tried to catch her breath, trying to calm the storm building between them.
She looked away, cheeks flushed, then added, "I really was not feeling well. I was tired and drained, and yes, I was also shy. I was too shy to face you, okay? That is why I did not come, not because I was trying to ditch you."
That part was a half-truth, but it was also true that she had been slightly nervous and flustered to face Taehyung after what happened between them.
"So you are saying you do have feelings for me?" Taehyung asked, his voice dropping a little, turning softer but still intense.
Evie's heart was thumping so loud in her chest that she could barely hear her own thoughts. Her eyes darted away from his, her breath getting heavier as the space between them almost disappeared. They were too close now, the heat between them rising, their breaths brushing against each other's skin.
She looked back at him slowly, her voice barely above a whisper. "You are different, Taehyung. From the first day, you helped me without asking anything in return. You were there for me when no one else even noticed me. You... you are everything I thought I would never find in someone. You are kind, understanding, and you make me feel safe. And yes, you are my type, the exact kind of guy I used to dream about."
Taehyung smile, his gaze fixed on her lips, then back to her eyes. "So I am your ideal type, huh?"
Evie bit her lower lip nervously and nodded slowly, feeling her face heat up even more.
The air around them felt heavy, hot, filled with something unspoken but burning between them. Neither of them moved away. Their bodies were close, breaths tangled, hearts racing like they were seconds away from something they could not turn back from.
As they stood there, locked in that charged silence, Taehyung's grip on her waist tightened, pulling her closer without even realizing it. She could feel the pressure of his hands, the warmth of his touch sinking through her clothes and straight into her skin. Her fingers clenched tightly onto his shoulders, holding on like he was the only thing keeping her steady in that moment.
"You have no idea how I spent those two days without you," he said, his voice deep and full of frustration. "Sitting alone in the cafeteria, waiting for you to show up, looking at the door every five seconds in class, hoping maybe you'd walk inโฆ but you never did."
Her heart sank at his words, and she immediately looked up at him, guilt all over her face.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, barely able to get the words out. "I won't do it again. I swear."
His eyes didn't move from hers. And slowly, he leaned inโjust a little at first but close enough that she could feel his breath brushing against her lips. Her heart was racing so fast it felt like it might explode. And then his eyes, dark and full of heat, dropped to her lips.
"Taehyungโฆ" she whispered, her voice trembling as she felt herself melt under his gaze. She could barely believe the words came out of her mouth, but they did. "Kiss me."
That was all he needed.
Without wasting another second, his lips crashed onto hers. It wasn't slow or softโit was desperate and full of tension that had been building up for days. His hand moved up her back, pressing her flush against him, while the other stayed firmly on her waist, holding her in place like he was afraid she might slip away again.
Her lips parted on instinct, and his tongue slid inside, claiming her mouth like it was his and only his. There was nothing gentle about it. It was messy, hungry, full of heat and unspoken frustration.
She matched him, kissing him back just as hard, her hands moving from his shoulders to the back of his neck, pulling him in deeper like she couldn't get enough.
Their bodies were completely pressed together, no space left between them. His hand on her waist slowly slid down to the small of her back, pressing her hips against his while his other hand tangled into her hair, tilting her head to deepen the kiss even more. Every movement made her feel like her entire body was on fire.
She gasped into his mouth, but he didn't stop. He kissed her like he had been starving for this, like he had been dying to do it again since the last time, and now that he had her, he wasn't going to let go. She kissed him back with everything she had, her nails digging slightly into his shoulder as his hand roamed over her curves, making it impossible to think.
When they finally pulled apart, breathing hard, foreheads resting against each other, both of them were flushed and dazed, lips red and swollen from the intensity.
Neither of them said a word.
But they didn't need to. That kiss said everything.
The room was quiet except for the sound of their heavy breathing after the kiss. Their foreheads were still pressed together, and Evie could feel Taehyung's heartbeat racing just like hers. Neither of them moved for a few seconds, like they were both stuck in that moment.
Taehyung slowly lifted his hand and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. His thumb brushed over her cheek, and his voice came out low, almost a whisper.
"You're so beautiful, Evie..."
She didn't say anything. Her eyes just locked onto his, and the tension between them didn't ease - it only grew thicker.
He leaned in again, but this time his lips didn't go to hers. Instead, he pressed a soft kiss on her cheek. Then another one, closer to her jaw. Then down to her neck. Each kiss felt warmer, heavier, pulling something deep out of both of them.
Evie's breath caught in her throat. Her hands slid up his chest, gripping the front of his shirt as her body reacted on its own.
Taehyung's lips stayed on her neck for a second, then moved across her collarbone. His fingers slowly pulled the neck of her t-shirt off her shoulder, exposing her bare skin, and he kissed the spot like he'd been waiting forever to do it.
The way she gasped softly, the way her fingers tightened around his shirtโit made it harder for him to hold back.
"Evie..." he whispered, still kissing her shoulder, "we should stop."
Her head tilted slightly, her voice soft and breathless. "Why...?"
"You know why," he murmured against her skin.
"But I'm loving this..." she said quietly.
He paused, pulled back just a little to look into her eyes. "Then trust me even more."
She nodded, but then asked, "Then why are you stopping?"
He swallowed hard. His voice came out raw. "Because... you're my first."
Her eyes widened just a little. "So? You're mine too."
His hand froze on her waist. "Didn't think you'd say it like that. Most girlsโฆ they hesitate, get shyโฆ"
"And why would I be?" she whispered, staring up at him. "Weren't you the one who kissed me first? Confessed to me first? And you came here by your own?"
He smiles a little at that. "You came to check on me. Your dad was here, remember? And now he's gone to the office. They think you're just here... as a friend."
"But he's not here now," she whispered, her voice low and intense.
Taehyung let out a breath, clearly struggling. "You're making this really hard for me right now."
"Am I?" she smiled faintly, lips brushing his.
"Evie..." he said again, his tone full of warning but also need. Then he kissed her again, slower this time but deeper. His hands moved down her back, pulling her in close.
"What if your dad comes back?" he whispered against her lips.
"I'll handle it," she replied softly, not breaking the kiss.
That was it. That was the moment it all shifted. The room felt hotter. The space between them disappeared. It wasn't just heat - it was connection, tension, nerves, desire... everything mixed up into one.
And it was leading them somewhere they both knew they wanted to go.
