Evie's gaze lingered on Jungkook as he sat comfortably among his group, breathing an air of superiority like he was some untouchable king. His friends weren't any betterย laughing loudly, talking as if they owned the place, their body language screaming privilege.
There were a few girls in the group too, all seemingly asking for his attention, leaning in, laughing at everything he said.
Mia followed Evie's gaze and scoffed.
"He acts like he's royalty or something," she muttered. "And because he's rich, people treat him like some damn celebrity."
Evie wasn't surprised. She had already guessed as much from her earlier interaction with him.
"The only thing that idiot has going for him is his face and his body. Other than that? He's absolute shit," Mia added with a roll of her eyes.
Evie glanced at her, amused at how much she clearly disliked him.
Mia didn't stop there. "He's been like this since school. My batchmate used to say he was already popular back then, but in college, it's worse. People literally worship him like he's a god or something. It's pathetic."
She wrinkled her nose in disgust before lowering her voice. "You know what's even worse? He's a total womanizer. The kind of guy who looks at a girl, decides he wants her, and gets her, no matter what. And every girl here just throws themselves at him."
Evie arched a brow. "They let him?"
Mia scoffed. "No one chooses him. He's the one who chooses. If he wants to fuck you, you're already in his bed before you even realize it. That's how he works."
Evie didn't respond, but she didn't need to. Just looking at him, watching the way he carried himself, she could already see it.
Mia leaned in, her expression filled with distaste. "When I first joined this college, I was just as dumb as the rest of them. I thought he was this perfect, rich guy and wanted to impress him. But the more I learned about him, the more disgusted I got. Total turnโoff."
Evie shook her head, stabbing at her food with her fork as Mia continued.
"He's arrogant as hell, rude as fuck, and thinks the world revolves around him just because his daddy has money. And these brainless idiots feed into it." Mia's lips curled in annoyance.
Evie hummed in agreement as she took another bite, listening as Mia kept whispering.
"The worst part? Because his father is on the board, he gets away with everything. The professors don't even try to discipline him. He does whatever the fuck he wants, and no one says a damn thing."
Evie didn't say anything, but internally, she was already starting to see just how deep Jungkook's influence ran in this place.
Mia sighed, shaking her head as she picked at her food. "He's not even smart. Just average at best. Barely passed in tests, but somehow, people act like he' s some kind of genius. I seriously don't get why idiots like him are idolized."
Evie listened silently, absorbing every word.
"There are only a handful of girls in this college who haven't been in his bed," Mia continued with a scoff. "The rest? They all want to be. And the worst part? He even got caught messing around with a young female professor once. You know what happened?"
She leaned in, lowering her voice. "She got suspended. He didn't face a damn thing. Walked away like it was nothing."
Evie's grip on her fork tightened slightly. That kind of power imbalance was exactly what she hated the most.
Mia sighed again. "Look, my advice? Don't waste your time thinking about him or anyone in his friends circle. They might be rich and famous in this college, but they're not worth even a second of your time. If you want to live peacefully here, either stay on his good side or make sure you never catch his attention. Because if you get on his bad side, your life here will be hell."
Evie frowned. "That bad?"
Mia nodded firmly. "Worse. There was this guy once got into a fight with Jungkook. Jungkook and his friends beat the shit out of him. And you know what happened? That guy got suspended. Not a single person said anything to Jungkook. And to make it worse? That guy couldn't even get admission into another college after that." She shook her head, disgusted. "That's the kind of power he has here."
Evie fell silent, her mind replaying her earlier interaction with Jungkook. He had assumed she was trying to get his attention, had even called her desperate. At the time, she had wanted to lash out at him, to put him in his place. But nowโฆ she realized how lucky she was that she had kept her temper in check.
She exhaled slowly, quietly thanking whatever higher power had stopped her from cursing him out earlier.
As Evie and Mia ate their lunch, their conversation drifted to random topics, but it was impossible to ignore the loud group on the other side of the cafeteria.
Jungkook and his friends acted like they owned the placeโlaughing loudly, talking over each other, and showing no regard for anyone else's space. It was as if the entire cafeteria existed solely for them. No one dared to tell them to lower their voices or be more considerate.
Then, a different voice cut through the noise. A girl walked confidently toward Jungkook's table, her presence instantly commanding attention.
Evie's eyes followed her, and she couldn't help but stare. The girl wasn't just attractiveโshe was stunning, the type who knew exactly how to make heads turn.
She looked like she was meant to be walking down a Victoria's Secret runway but had somehow ended up in a college cafeteria instead. Every detail about her screamed fashion and confidence. Her outfit was designed to flaunt her figureโa tiny crop top, showing off her toned stomach, and a miniskirt that barely covered anything.
It wasn't like revealing clothes were uncommon in college, but she wore them like she was on a mission to remind everyone how hot she was.
Evie's curiosity grew as she watched the girl approach Jungkook's table. The most surprising part was Jungkook's reaction. He had been relaxed and casually joking with his friends, but the moment she arrived, his entire focus shifted.
He turned toward her, a small smirk playing on his lips, as if she was someone important to him. His friends also seemed to acknowledge her in a way they didn't with just anyone. She wasn't just another girl fawning over that boyโ she belonged there. And when she sat beside him, he immediately wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her in like it was second nature.
Evie nudged Mia, who was busy eating. "Who's that?" she asked, nodding toward the girl.
Mia looked up, following her gaze, and immediately rolled her eyes. "That's Raven Sterling," she said, her tone dripping with disdain.
Evie raised an eyebrow, waiting for more.
"She's from the arts batch, a senior like Jungkook," Mia continued. "Basically, she's the female version of himโrich, spoiled, arrogant as hell, and completely full of herself. She's one of those girls who knows she's hot and never lets anyone forget it. I mean, it's true โshe does have good genes, but she loves to rub it in everyone's face."
Evie glanced back at Raven, watching the way she tossed her hair and flashed a perfect smile at Jungkook. The confidence she carried was undeniable like she believed the world revolved around her.
"Her parents are filthy rich, so she's never had to worry about a single thing in life," Mia added. "No restrictions, no rulesโ just an easy, carefree life where money fixes everything. And because of that, she acts like she's above everyone else. She's always showing off, like she wants the whole world to know she was born privileged."
Evie watched as Raven laughed at something Jungkook said, leaning into him in a way that was almost possessive.
"She and Jungkook are close," Mia said, lowering her voice slightly. "Like, really close. They've known each other since childhood, so she's probably the only girl who sticks around in his life. Usually, Jungkook never repeats girls - once he sleeps with them, he moves on but she is the exception."
Evie frowned. "So she's his girlfriend?"
Mia let out a sharp laugh. "Not officially. But she likes to act like she is. Just because Jungkook fucks her regularly, she walks around here like she owns the place." Mia rolled her eyes. "She thinks she's some kind of queen because he keeps her around."
Evie's lips parted slightly, processing that information.
Mia smirked. "She's not as bad as Jungkook when it comes to sleeping around, but she's still a whore. If she sees a hot guy, she goes for him. And because she's rich and beautiful, she always gets what she wants. She's slept with half the goodโ looking guys on campus. But unlike Jungkook, she's a bit more selective."
Evie raised an eyebrow. "So she's just like him?"
"Pretty much," Mia shrugged. "Same attitude, same arrogance. She loves being the center of attention and hates it when someone else steals her spotlight. And if anyone ever dares to outshine her, she'll go out of her way to bring them down."
Evie glanced at Raven again, who was now whispering something into Jungkook's ear, making him chuckle. The way she carried herself, the way she acted like she was better than everyone else, was obvious.
"I had a run-in with her in my first semester," Mia muttered, stabbing her fork into her food with a little more force than necessary. "It was a stupid argument. I didn't even know who she was at the time. But when I realized how much influence she had, I had no choice but to apologize to her in front of her whole group." She scoffed. "Trust me, she's as pathetic as Jungkook. Maybe even worse."
Evie didn't say anything, just kept watching Raven and Jungkook.
Evie shook her head and turned her attention back to her food. There was no point wasting her energy on nonsense. The last thing she wanted was to get caught up in whatever was going on with that group.
But even as she tried to focus on eating, their voices were impossible to ignore.
Jungkook and his friends both the guys and the girls were talking loudly, their conversation filled with crude jokes and inappropriate topics. They weren't even trying to be quiet, as if the entire cafeteria was their private space and everyone else was just an audience to their show.
Evie could hear bits and pieces of their conversation, and each word made her stomach twist in discomfort. It was mostly the guys bragging about their latest conquests, sharing explicit details like it was some kind of competition. The girls, on the other hand, laughed and encouraged them, throwing in their own suggestive remarks.
โ
Jungkook leaned back in his seat, a cocky smirk playing on his lips as he spoke. "Man, she was acting all shy at first talking about how she 'doesn't do this kind of things' โbut the moment I had her under me, she was moaning like a desperate bitch." He chuckled, shaking his head. "They always pretend to be different, but once my hands are on them, they're all the same. Clawing at me, begging for more."
His friends erupted into laughter, a few of them shaking their heads like they had heard this story a hundred times before.
One of the guys nudged him. "And? Was she any good?"
Jungkook scoffed, running a hand through his hair. "Meh. Same as the rest. A little tight at first, but that never lasts long. Thought she was special just because she could take me without crying. Like, congrats, sweetheartโ join the club." He took a slow sip of his drink, his smirk widening. "Next."
A round of cheers and whistles followed, the guys hyping him up while the girls giggled like this was the most entertaining thing theyโd ever heard.
Evie's stomach twisted in disgust. She wasn't naiveโshe knew guys talked about sex but this wasn't just casual locker room talk. This was straight -up degrading. The way guys spoke about girls, like they were nothing but disposable playthings, made her skin crawl.
She clenched her jaw, forcing herself to keep her expression neutral, but the urge to throw her drink in his face was getting harder to resist.
And then, as if the scene couldn't get any worse, Raven suddenly stood up and walked over to Jungkook. Without hesitation, she slid onto his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Jungkook didn't look the least bit surprised. If anything, he seemed amused, one hand casually resting on her waist as she leaned in.
Raven giggled, running a perfectly hand through his hair. "You're so mean, Jungkook," she pouted playfully. "Talking about other girls when you already have me."
Jungkook smirked, his fingers trailing lazily down her thigh. "You jealous, baby?" he teased.
Raven tilted her head, pretending to think. "Maybeโฆ" Then, before anyone could react, she leaned in and pressed an openโmouthed kiss to his cheek, trailing it down to his jaw.
The group erupted in whistles and laughter, clearly entertained by the scene.
Evie, on the other hand, was fighting the strongest cringe attack of her life. She physically recoiled at the sight, her appetite completely ruined.
This was beyond uncomfortableโit was straight-up disturbing. Did they have no shame? No basic sense of public decency?
Jungkook didn't seem to care about the attention. If anything, he loved it. He let Raven do whatever she wanted, occasionally chuckling and muttering things into her ear that made her laugh even more.
Evie exhaled slowly, setting her fork down. "This isโฆ actually insane," she mumbled under her breath.
Mia, who had been just as unimpressed, shook her head. "This is very common thing, you will get used of this as they all are so shameless."
After finishing their lunch, Evie and Mia decided to leave the cafeteria since there was still plenty of time before their next class. They strolled around the campus, chatting casually while trying to ignore the loud,ย laughter coming from behind them.
Jungkook and his group were still at their table, completely unconcerned with the world around them, talking loudly and indulging in their usual crude conversations.
Every now and then, bursts of laughter and exaggerated voices echoed through the cafeteria, making Evie wince in discomfort. She was getting secondhand embarrassment just from being in the same space as them. Shaking her head, she and Mia made their way outside, grateful to be away from all the unnecessary drama.
Back at the table, Jungkook and his friends remained in their own world, completely unfazed by their surroundings. They were too busy entertaining themselves with their usual banter, careless about who was listening or what impression they were making.
Just then, the cafeteria doors swung open, and a new presence entered the roomโ a young man who had arrived late.
Heads instinctively turned in his direction, not out of curiosity but because they already knew why he wasn't there earlier. Without needing an explanation, everyone at the table smirked, fully aware of his usual habits.
Kim Taehyung walked toward them, slightly out of breath, rubbing the back of his neck as he approached their table.
His sharp yet soft features were calm as ever, despite knowing his friends were about to start teasing him.
Jungkook, who had been lazily leaning back in his chair Raven on his lap, immediately turned his full attention toward him. He already knew exactly where Taehyung had beenโ no need to ask.
As Taehyung took the empty seat beside him, he let out a small laugh and sighed. "I was in the library looking for some books. Lost track of time."
The reaction was immediate. His friends groaned and rolled their eyes, grinning as they bombarded him with playful taunts.
"Again?" one of them scoffed. "How much more do you need to study? You're already a damn topper!"
"Seriously, Taehyung," another one chimed in, shaking his head. "You make the rest of us look bad."
Taehyung simply chuckled, clearly used to their teasing. He wasn't bothered in the slightest.
Jungkook smirked, stretching his arms behind his head as he studied his best friend. "You really have nothing better to do than bury yourself in books, huh?" He shook his head in amusement before clicking his tongue. "I don't know how we ended up as friends."
Despite the difference in their personalities, Jungkook and Taehyung had been best friends since childhood. Their fathers were close friends, which naturally led to their bond. They had grown up together, shared countless memories, and despite their differences, their friendship remained solid.
Yet, in many ways, they were complete opposites.
Jungkook was the classic rich, spoiled heirโ arrogant, reckless, and self-indulgent. He lived for power, enjoyed breaking rules, and never thought twice about the consequences of his actions. His influence at the college was undeniable, and he carried himself like someone who owned the place. With his good looks, wealth, and charm, he had the entire student body wrapped around his finger, treating him like some kind of untouchable king.
Taehyung, on the other hand, was nothing like him. Despite coming from the same wealthy background, he was disciplined, well- mannered, and carried a quiet kind of confidence. Unlike Jungkook, he didn't misuse his status or seek attention. He was intelligent, hardworking, and treated people with respectโsomething Jungkook rarely did.
Taehyung had a kind heart, while Jungkook was arrogant and completely ruthless.
Taehyung was pure, almost like an angel, while Jungkook was the exact opposite like a walking sin.
And yet, despite being so different, their friendship still worked.
Jungkook often teased Taehyung for being "boring," but deep down, he respected him. At the same time, Taehyung put up with Jungkook's behavior, knowing that, no matter how heartless he seemed, there was more to him than what he showed the world.
As they were talking, Raven, who was still comfortably seated on Jungkook's lap, turned her attention to Taehyung. With an amused smirk, she casually commented, "You're always buried in your books, Taehyung. Don't you ever get tired of being so boring?"
Taehyung barely spared her a glance. His expression was unreadable, completely uninterested. Without missing a beat, he responded in a calm, indifferent voice, "I don't remember asking for your opinion." Then, just as effortlessly, he looked away, dismissing her entirely.
Raven let out an annoyed huff, rolling her eyes. She was used to this reaction from him. No matter what she said or did, Taehyung never showed the slightest interest in her, and it irritated her to no end. Out of all the guys in their social circle, he was the only one who didn't fawn over her or treat her like she was special. In fact, he barely even acknowledged her presence.
She had tried many times to get under his skin, but Taehyung was like a wall โunshakable and completely unimpressed. It frustrated her beyond words.
Feeling annoyed, she was about to snap back at him, but before she could, Jungkook intervened. He wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him as he lazily said, "Alright sweetheart, that's enough. Let's not start another argument."
Raven clicked her tongue in irritation but didn't push further. She knew better than to argue when Jungkook wasnโt in the mood for it.
Jungkook leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on the table. "Anyway, forget all this. Let's talk about something more interesting." A smirk slowly stretched across his lips as he said, "It's been a while since we had a proper party. Let's hit the club tonight. Drinks, music, girls - sounds like a perfect night, don't you think?"
His suggestion was met with immediate enthusiasm from the group. The others quickly chimed in, agreeing that a party was long overdue. The idea of a wild night out excited them, and they were already discussing which club to go to.
But, as expected, Taehyung remained completely uninterested. Unlike Jungkook and the others, he had never been into clubbing, drinking, or wasting his nights on things he considered meaningless. He was already shaking his head before Jungkook could try to convince him.
"You guys go ahead," Taehyung said simply. "I have better things to do."
Jungkook sighed dramatically, shaking his head in disappointment. "Taehyung, come on. You always say that. What's the point of all this work? You're gonna get old before you even enjoy life."
Taehyung didn't bother responding. He had heard this argument from Jungkook a million times before.
Jungkook leaned back, smirking. "Besides, it's not just about the drinks. There'll be plenty of girls too." He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. "How long are you planning to stay a virgin, huh? This is just ridiculous at this point."
Taehyung's entire face scrunched up in distaste. He turned to Jungkook with an unimpressed look. "Mind your own business," he said flatly. "I don't care about that stuff, and I have no interest in meaningless flings like you."
Jungkook just laughed, shaking his head as if Taehyung were a lost cause.
That's when Raven decided to add her own comment, smirking as she teasingly said, "You know, sometimes I wonder if Taehyung is even straight."
The moment the words left her mouth, the entire table burst into laughter. Some of them playfully nudged Taehyung, while others exchanged amused glances. Jungkook let out a chuckle, finding her remark entertaining.
Taehyung, however, looked completely unfazed. He looks at Raven with a blank expression, his voice as cold as ever.
"If being with you was my only option, I'd gladly choose men instead," he said flatly. "At least they wouldn't give me a headache every time they open their mouth for absolutely nonsense."
Silence.
Raven's smirk dropped instantly. For a second, she just stared at him, completely caught off guard.
And then laughter.
The whole table erupted, some of them slamming their hands on the table, others doubling over. Even Jungkook let out a low chuckle, shaking his head in amusement.
Raven's face burned with embarrassment. Her lips pressed into a thin line, her fists clenching under the table. She hated being made fun of, and she hated even more that Taehyung of all people had been the one to shut her down so effortlessly.
But Taehyung? He was already done with the conversation. He didn't bother to look at her again, as if she was too unimportant to waste another second on. For him, this was nothing more than another dumb moment in a day filled with more important things.
