Lightbulb let out a loud yawn as she sat up, stretching out her limbs and rubbing her eyes. She looked over at Paintbrush, who was laying in bed next to her, scrolling through their phone with their other arm laid across the bed where Lightbulb's head just was.
"You're up early." Lightbulb observed.
"You're up late." Paintbrush corrected her, sitting up and putting their phone down on the bedside table. They pointed to the alarm clock, which read 10:16 AM.
"Oh- why didn't you wake me up?" Lightbulb got up, grabbing her cane which was leaning against the bed. She grabbed her bandanna from the nightstand and quickly tied it around her neck, not caring how neat it was.
Paintbrush took off their night cap and set it on the nightstand, standing up as well. "You've been going to bed so late recently, I wanted you to get some sleep in" They answered, putting some food in Baxter's tank as they watched the crab also wake up.
Lightbulb looked over at Fan and saw he was still asleep. She walked over to him and turned him on his back, skittering her fingers on his 'stomach' area. "Fan! wake up!"
Fan almost instantly woke up in a fit of laughter. "Okay! Okay! I'm up!" He exclaimed, waving his arm around.
Lightbulb stopped and pulled him out of bed. "C'mon, we gotta get breakfast!"
Fan stumbled to his feet and Lightbulb let go of his arm. "How do you have so much energy this early?" He asked, rubbing his eyes.
Lightbulb shrugged. "Actually slept last night, I guess."
Fan gave a small hum in response. "I haven't really been able to." He thoughtlessly opened a drawer on his bedside table and noticed his old polka-dot bowtie inside. He picked it up and put it on. "Y'know what I think Imma start wearing this more" He said tiredly.
"Yeah, looks pretty good on you" Paintbrush commented, lightly nudging his arm with their elbow.
Fan smiled. "Thank you!"
"Mhm so breakfast." Lightbulb reminded them.
"Right right, you're in desperate need of those Pop-Tarts." Paintbrush said jokingly, walking over to the door.
"Hey, they're really good!" Lightbulb followed Paintbrush out of the room, Fan doing the same.
"Ok to be fair I've never actually had the strawberry ones so I wouldn't know." Paintbrush admitted. They looked over at Fan, who seemed to barely be keeping himself awake. "Hey, what time did you go to sleep last night?"
"Uh- like.. 4 or 5? I think?" Fan responded, rubbing his eyes again.
"Damn, I'd say something about that but I haven't been sleeping much earlier." Lightbulb said.
The three entered an elevator and went downstairs, heading towards the kitchen. Lightbulb perked her head up as she recognized a few people and rushed over to them.
"Hey!!" She called out excitedly, barreling into Baseball and hugging him, before turning around and giving Balloon a quick hug as well. She stopped dead in her tracks as she realized they were standing. "OH SICK! YOU GOT YOUR NEW LEG!!" She exclaimed, flapping her hands around happily.
"Yeah!! Waitwaitwait check this out-" Balloon walked several steps forward.
"YOOO!!" Lightbulb bounced her leg excitedly.
Baseball snickered. "Good to see yall are doing better." He said amusedly.
"Yo, BB!" Nickel called out. "Your bacon's getting cold!"
"Oh right- Lightbulb you should probably get some breakfast too" Baseball sat down and started eating.
"Got that covered" Paintbrush walked over to them and handed Lightbulb a plate with two Pop-Tarts on it, sitting down with their own breakfast.
"Ah- thanks," Lightbulb said awkwardly, realizing how distracted she'd gotten. she sat down next to them and started eating.
Fan yawned and took a bite of his cereal. "I feel weird.."
"Sleep more" Paintbrush stated, half-jokingly.
Fan smiled and rolled his eyes. "I mean besides that."
"Hm." Paintbrush thought for a moment.
...
"Yeah. Me too."
Lightbulb was a little taken aback by the sudden mood shift. She completely understood, of course, she just felt a little... guilty? The two of them had been so down in the dumps recently, especially Fan, and Lightbulb felt a bit bad for actually recovering during that. She missed her too obviously, but she felt more relieved than upset about it. She'd tried to empathize with the two, but her feelings about Test Tube had been so horribly soured by their last experiences that it was a little hard to. Bot wasn't taking it too well either, or at least she assumed so. They'd been distancing themself from the three of them, which had Lightbulb a bit worried. Maybe she should go talk to them later?
Lightbulb shook off those thoughts and continued eating, realizing Fan and Paintbrush had moved onto a lighter discussion while she was having her thought spiral.
Bot perked their head up as they heard a knock on their door. They closed their sketchbook and walked over, opening the door.
"Oh- hey Lightbulb. And Goo"
"Hi!!" Goo chirped, on top of Lightbulb's head for some reason.
"Heya Bot! Got a minute to talk?" Lightbulb asked.
"Uh- sure, come in."
Lightbulb walked inside as Bot closed the door behind her.
"What's goin' on?" Bot asked.
Lightbulb turned back to face them. "Well, I think I should ask you that"
"What?"
"The Cheer Factory has come to help you!" Goo explained. "Or- half of the Cheer Factory, I- I don't know if she's actually a member"
"I'm a temporary volunteer, I guess," Lightbulb said.
Bot raised an eyebrow. "Right, okay." They sat down on the edge of their bed. "So how're you gonna help then?"
"...Welll, we kind of didn't think we'd get past the door, so we didn't really plan that far ahead.." Goo admitted.
"What- why?" Bot asked.
"You've been avoiding.. pretty much everyone, we weren't sure if you'd wanna talk to anyone right now" Lightbulb explained.
"..Oh-! Have I..?" Bot thought about it for a moment. "..Huh, guess I have.."
"Uh- Not that it's a problem or anything," Goo stammered. "We just.."
"We're worried about you," Lightbulb finished for him. "I guess we just wanna make sure you're doing okay."
"Uhm.. Honestly? I don't really know.." Bot admitted. "Like I'm upset obviously, but I don't really know what part I'm upset about, I guess.."
"Mhm. I kinda feel the same way, honestly."
"Wait- really?"
Lightbulb sat down next to Bot. "Well yeah, it's a pretty complicated situation. Hard to know how you should feel about it"
"Huh.." Bot rubbed the back of their head. "I guess that makes sense.."
"And- listen," Lightbulb continued. "Shit's tough right now. And it probably won't get much better for a little while, but that's alright." She pat Bot's back reassuringly. "Just know you don't gotta do it alone."
Goo moved from Lightbulb's head to Bot's. "Yea!! We're here for you man!!"
Bot sighed and smiled at the two. "Thanks."
