| YOU DESCENDED DOWN the stairs by the river side, inhaling the fresh air as the golden glow of the setting sun fell upon your gloomy figure.

Seating yourself on the lush green grass, you brought your knees closer to your chest, you rested your head on it and closed your eyes, letting an exhausting sigh release.

You craved some time alone, away from Toman, your aunt and your obnoxious cousin who never let you rest in peace. You told your aunt that you would be late tonight, keeping the Toman meeting in your mind.

Silence surrounded you with the birds chirping only sound to your ears.

"Who do you think was behind all this?"

You shook your head, trying to get rid of the unwanted thought.

"That's right, it was me."

"Shut up.." you mumbled to yourself.

"I killed your parents!"

You covered your ears as the thoughts repeatedly echoed in your head.

"Wanna know why? Because they took you away from me!!"

Your eyes snapped open.

How could one be so cruel?

You gulped back a sob but the tears fell from your eyes, meeting the sleeves covering your hands which you rested your cheek on.

Sobbed, because you two may never go back to your old selves again as what you were now was.. rivals, caught up in the enmity between two groups.

You didn't know how to continue anymore. The burden which you carried since your parent's passing was heavily crashing down on you now. You found yourself alone, surrounded by cold silence.

As the sun went further down, so did your hopes for everything and everyone to go back to their normal selves once again.

Hidden from your sight a lone figure walked on the path, admiring the beauty of the nightfall and the rose-gold sun, but then his bronze eyes fell to the familiar figure which was seated lonely by the river side on the green grass.

He decided to keep on moving forward but his feet froze on the spot stubbornly as they decided to team up with the heart which urged him to approach you.

So, he did.

Unaware of the approaching figure, you sighed deeply and admired the scenery ahead of you, the light was almost gone. Every beautiful thing must come to an end, huh?

"Beautiful, isn't it?" came a deep voice from behind you which you recognised very well.

Lifting up your head, you came face to face with the raven haired make who's eyes were fixated on your form.

His eyes saw the condition of your eyes which were swollen and red which was a clear proof that you had been crying. He immediately felt guilty because he knew that he was the reason behind the pain you were bearing.

You noticed that there was a change in his regular style. His long, black hair were in a half-tied ponytail meanwhile the dark locks to the front framed his handsome face and instead of his regular gang uniform, he was in casual clothes which were grey t-shirt and black jeans with chokar decorating his neck as the cross necklace dangled from his neck.

Your gaze hardened into a glare and questioned, "What are you doing here?" you demanded harshly.

You felt him seat himself just beside you and rather close.

"Why? Can't I admire the beauty of the nature?" he replied throwing a slight glance at you.

"You can," you muttered. "But why would you do that sitting beside your enemy?"

He exhaled.

Ignoring your question, he replied,"I know you're upset with me."

"Well then, you guessed right."

After a minute of awkward silence, he gulped. "I don't see you as my enemy, by the way." he spoke, referring to your earlier question.

"And why's that?" you asked coldly.

"Y/N.."

"Why?" you questioned again, now staring at him. "I want to know."

His head bowed slightly as he gazed at the grass beneath him. "Because I can never--"

You cut him off mid sentence. "Save it," then you began to focus on picking the grass aggressively. "We're not friends anymore and you made it quite clear in the Toman meeting."

"I accept its my fault but I didn't mean to." he stated firmly.

"But that's the truth, whether you like it or not." you declared.

He frowned."Don't say that."

You eyes snapped towards him. "I will and I will keep saying it. Deal with it!"

"Its not the rea--"

You interrupted him once again. "Go away."

Perhaps it was easy for you to say that, but to him.. It ripped his heart out.

In reality the words felt bitter to your tongue but you don't show the guilt. You had every right to return the favour.

His eyebrows dipped into sadness but you were unaware of that. "Don't act like that, Y/N."

"I will! Leave me alone." your teeth gritted together as your eyes began to glaze over. He was messing with your mind. Besides, you had enough of a self respect to not just forget his words from that day.

'I don't need you.'

"No." He replied simply as he locked eyes with you.

"Well I thought you didn't need me so I'm just doing my part." you said bitterly.

He sighed and spoke nothing, which didn't help the situation.

"And do you think I can just forget what you did to Chifuyu?" you turned your face towards him.

Your e/c eyes bore into his' as he felt his chest tighten. A familiar feeling take over him.

"Why do you care?" he mumbled.

Your face morphed into a look of disbelief and you shook your head slightly at him. "I can't believe you right now," you whispered. "Chifuyu is my friend and unlike you, I neither want to hurt them nor I want to see them get hurt!"

There was a sharp jab in your comment.

He purses his lips at your reply. He felt angry but he didn't know where this anger was directed at; at you, at himself or....at Chifuyu.

"Now, if you can please leave me alone." you scooted further away from him and faced the other side, staring at the river.

You heard him say, "If that's how you want to play it, then so be it." and before you knew, he grabbed your wrist and pulled you towards himself.

Your heart threatened to leap out of your chest.

"What the—"

But this time it was him who cut you off by putting his index finger against your lips. "Can you please let me speak for a moment?"

His face mere inches away from yours as he gazed at you with great intensity, yet underestimating your stubbornness.

"I don't want to listen to a word you want to say," you declared with finality in your tone as you attempted to free your wrist which he firmly held. "Let go off me, now."

He looked hurt but let go off your wrist slowly. "I just wanted to apologise.." he said without looking at you while tugging at the grass.

You stared at that simple action . ' i must not waver.'

"I know you're upset with me, but you must understand, I did that to keep you out of danger."  his tone was nothing but filled with desperation to make you understand.

The dark blue hue now dominated the sky, covering the orange glow spreading out from the almost set sun.

"Even when you insulted me in front of the whole Toman, practically calling me useless?" you questioned bitterly.

He then finally lifted his gaze up with a glint of dejection. "I only meant to push you away from any kind of danger and harm, that was the reason why I said all that awful things to you."

You scoffed. "I think I've told you this already : save it," you then got up from the grass and stared at the stars that now peeked out.

"I'm done listening to your excuses, don't expect me to accept any apology." you said coldly, side eyeing Baji's figure. "And since you neither need me or want me to stay by your side anyway, I'm going to take my leave now. See you at the Battle ground."

Just as you were done speaking and had taken just a small step forward to finally leave, Baji got up and grabbed your wrist, pulling you toward himself in an embrace.

"What the f—"

"I didn't mean to hurt you, I swear." He whispered.

"What's wrong with you?" You ask but you neither move, nor return his gesture.

His cool breath hit your neck, causing goosebumps to rise as he began to speak ." That time I told you that I didn't need you,"

Despite his attempt, your self respect still did not give in. "Don't worry, I remember your line word to word." You say monotonously.

"I know. ." he said in a low tone, "but as I already told you why, I didn't mean any of it." he spoke, burying his nose in the crook of your neck.

You hoped he could not hear how fast your heart was racing.

"I didn't say all that just for you to join Toman, to get into an even bigger danger." he sighed.

Your lips pursed at his words. "You once promised me that you'd never leave my side, remember?" you reminded him and held his arms.

You didn't wait for his reply and added, "You broke your promise, so I broke mine." your grip on his hands tightened. "I know you aren't telling me something, but I wouldn't force you to." you firmly removed his hands and backed away from him.

You faced him and your eyes stared into his caramel ones. ".. but if you think you could just do all this to me after hurting me with your words then you're wrong, Baji."

You said your final words and walked way, leaving him alone with his thoughts.

And that was the day when you realised, that even if he broke your heart, it still beat for him.

And that you had fallen for Keisuke Baji.
