08:34, 2 July 2023Friday Night....The Date Night.
Jin was about to announce to his family about Kim Namjoon. He can't wait to rub it in younger brother's face, watch his expression when he would go out with The Kim Namjoon.
Jin descended the stairs gracefully, wearing a black shirt and jeans that hugged his curves. He looked stunning and confident, ready to impress his date. Hoseok was sitting with his parents on the couch, watching TV. They turned their heads when they heard Jin's footsteps. They gasped at his appearance.
"Wow, hyung, you look amazing!" Hoseok exclaimed, admiring his brother.
"Thank you, Hobi." Jin said, smiling at him.
"Where are you going, son?" Mr. Jung asked, curious.
"I'm going on a date, Appa." Jin said casually.
Jin had never gone on a date before. Sure, he loved attention but he had never shown any interest in romance or relationships. He was more in love with himself than others. But that changed when he met Joon. As decided, Joon will be coming over to Jin's home and pick him up on their first date. Jin wanted them to know who he loved and who loved him back. He was nervous but excited but he knew his parents would accept Joon. After all, he is the Kim Namjoon, he is rich, successful and the ideal man.
Mr, Mrs Jung and Hoseok exchanged incredulous glances, their jaws dropping in unison. It was a first for Jin, and the unexpectedness of the situation intrigued them. They couldn't help but tease Jin, their playful banter filling the room with laughter.
"Oho, a date? Our Jin, the heartthrob!" their mother exclaimed, playfully nudging Jin's side.
Mr. Jung chimed in, a playful glint in his eyes. "Who is this mysterious man that has captured our Seokjinnie's heart?"
Jin grinned, relishing in their curiosity. "Well, you'll just have to wait and find out," he teased, enjoying the suspense.
As they shared these light hearted moments, a sudden sound interrupted the atmosphere. The doorbell chimed. "That's the mysterious man", Hoseok chuckled as he ran towards the door and opened it.
And there, standing before him, was Kim Namjoon—the man of his dreams. He looked gorgeous in a white shirt and black pants that matched Jin's outfit. He had a bouquet of red roses in his hand and a smile on his face. Hoseok's throat went dry as he stood there, momentarily rendered speechless. As Joon's gaze met Hoseok's, a flicker of recognition passed between them. Joon's eyes widened in pleasant surprise, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. Hoseok couldn't help but smile back, trying to conceal the joy that was bubbling inside him. Joon stood in front of Hoseok awkwardly who was staring at him like a deer in headlights. He cleared his throat, snapping Hoseok back to the present moment.
"Hobi, let the man in", Mr Jung said.
"Ummmm...sorry please come in." Blushing furiously, Hoseok bowed respectfully to Joon, his heart beating rapidly in his chest. Hoseok scratched his head sheepishly and welcomed Joon, his eyes unable to tear away from his captivating presence.
As Joon glanced around the living room, his gaze fell upon Jin, who sat proudly beside his mother. Joon couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at Jin. Perfect. That's the word to describe Jin. He respectfully bowed to Mr. and Mrs. Jung, acknowledging their presence. Hoseok, meanwhile, followed closely behind Joon, his eyes lingering on his every move, unable to tear his gaze away.
Mr. Jung took the opportunity to introduce his wife, Jin and Hoseok to Joon, gesturing toward them with pride. "This is my wife, Jae, as you know my eldest son, Seokjin, and my second son, Hoseok," he stated, a glimmer of affection in his eyes. He gestured Hoseok to come near him as he sat near his father.
Joon smiled warmly, a gentle familiarity shining in his eyes. "I remember Hoseok from the bookstore," he said, causing Hoseok's face to flush a deeper shade of red. Mr. Jung observed his son's reaction, recognizing the intensity of his feelings. Jin was watching Hoseok intensely.
They exchanged casual talks for a few minutes when Jin cleared his throat, "Shall we go, Joon? We don't want to miss our reservation," he suggested, his voice filled with excitement and eagerness.
In that moment, realization crashed down upon Hoseok like a tidal wave. Joon was Jin's date. Of course, why would Joon be interested in someone like him? Jin embodied everything that Hoseok was not. He struggled to hold back his tears as he watched Jin and Joon say their goodbyes and walk out of the Jung mansion.
In that crushing moment, Hoseok felt as if his world had shattered into a million pieces. Reality came crashing down upon him like a relentless wave, leaving him gasping for air. Joon was Jin's date, and it all made sense now. Why would someone like Joon be interested in someone like him? Jin embodied everything that Hoseok believed he was not—charming, accomplished, and undeniably attractive. The stark contrast between them left Hoseok feeling inadequate and unworthy.
Struggling to hold back his tears, Hoseok watched in silent anguish as Joon and Jin exchanged their goodbyes, their laughter echoing in his ears like a haunting melody. His heart ached, torn between conflicting emotions. Love for Joon, admiration for Jin, envy for the connection they shared, and an overwhelming sadness that threatened to engulf him.
As he stood there, watching the two men walk away, a whirlwind of emotions surged through Hoseok's chest. Love pulsed through his veins, an indescribable longing to be the one held in Joon's arms, to be the recipient of those beautiful roses. Admiration mixed with a bitter taste of jealousy as he yearned to experience the kind of connection Joon and Jin seemed to share effortlessly.
But he couldn't.
He was just Hoseok.
He was just Jin's brother.
He was nothing more than that.
He was speechless.
He excused himself and went to his room. He let the tears fall freely. Within seconds, he heard someone knock the door. It was his father. He sat near his son. Hoseok buried his face in his father's chest, sobbing uncontrollably. He felt like his heart was shattered into pieces. He had fallen in love with Joon, but he never had the courage to talk to him. He had hoped that fate would bring them together somehow, but he never expected it to be like this. Fate was playing a joke in his life. It was mocking him.
His father stroked his hair gently, feeling his son's pain. He knew Hoseok was a sensitive and kind soul, who deserved happiness. He sighed and said softly, "Hobi, my son, I'm so sorry."
Hoseok lifted his head and looked at his father with tearful eyes. He said in a choked voice as he wiped his tears, "Appa, Its okay. I am happy for Jin-hyung."
His father hugged him tighter. He knew Hobi is happy for his brother and would never hurt him even though Jin hurt him many times. Hobi is too good and pure for this world. (A/N: Damn right, he is.) "I am sorry son." The poor man didn't know how to console his son. You cannot force someone to fall in love. But he knew Hobi's heart.
Hoseok chuckled, "Its okay appa. I want Jin and Joon hyung to be happy." Hoseok knew it was too good a dream to be with Namjoon. He was a nerd, is a nerd and forever will be one. He wiped his tears and put on his glasses.
His father kissed his forehead and said, "I know it hurts, but it will get better with time. You'll heal and move on. We cannot make someone fall in love with us Hobi. But Trust me son, you'll find someone else who will love you the way you deserve to be loved, he will love you so much that even one lifetime won't be enough." Hoseok shook his head again and smiled. That's Hoseok - he will smile even when he is in pain. (A/N: Why am I crying?)
His father held him close and said nothing more. He knew his son better than anyone - the kid had a heart of gold who saw even good quality in bad people. He was proud of his son. He prayed silently for his son's happiness.

Meanwhile, Joon and Jin were in Joon's car, driving to the restaurant. They were holding hands and smiling at each other. They were happy and excited to finally go on a date after hiding their relationship for so long.
Joon said, "Jin, you look amazing today. I love your outfit."
Jin blushed and said, "Thank you, Joon. You look handsome as always. I love your smile."
Joon kissed Jin's hand and said, "I'm so glad we can finally be together in public. I'm tired of sneaking around and lying to everyone."
Jin nodded and said, "Me too, Joon. Me too. Who knew within a few days ago we would be here?"
Joon said, "I know. You can't help whom you fall in love with. And you love me, right?" Joon looked at Jin eagerly even though he knew the answer.
Jin leaned closer to Joon and said, "Of course I love you, Joon. You're the best thing that ever happened to me."
Joon smiled and pulled Jin into a kiss. He said, "I love you too, Jin. You're my everything." They kissed passionately sealing their love that grew between them.
