Chapter 5

Sam's POV:

I didn't sleep well last night as Rosie kept me up for what felt like hours. When my brother came to collect her at lunchtime I literally collapsed on the couch. I wasn't woken up until about 3 o'clock when there was a knock at the door. I nearly fell off the sofa as I got up to get the door. When I opened it, the blonde boy from the end of the path last night was stood there.

"Wow, he was right you are beautiful," he said, "sorry I'm Luke, Michael's friend, um... thanks for the sugar." He held out the cup I had given to Michael the night before.

"Oh thanks, that okay" I said. 

"Listen," he said, "I haven't seen Michael as happy as he's been today, waiting for 6 o'clock since the last ime he won a game of derpball," I gave him a strange look but he continued, "and trust me that was a long time ago, he'll be a bit shy but he can't help it around pretty girls."

I blushed, "Thanks Luke."

"That's alright, I better get back before Mike gets out the shower and realises I was talking to you. See you later." He said walking down the path and giving me a small salute. 

I closed the door, smiling. I looked at my watch and decided I best start getting ready.

*20 minutes later*

As I stepped out of the shower the phone started ringing. I ran to answer it.

"Hello" I answered.

"Hey Sam, it's only me," my brother replied, "um... I know I'm a pain and it's really short notice but would you be able to have Rosie again tonight, it's just I got a call from work saying they need me and Jas (my sister-in-law) to go in tonight, due to an emergency."

"Yeah that's fine." I said. I'd only just given her back.

"Thanks Sam you're great, I'll be there in ten. Bye."

I put the phone down and walked back to my bedroom.

"SHIT!" I shouted. What an idiot, I had completely forgotten about Michael.

I quickly put my jeans and hoodie back on and dried my hair and ran next door.

The dark haired boy answered the door.

"Hi," he said, "you must be Sam, I'm Calum" he said smiling.

"Hi, nice to meet you um... I was just wondering if Michael was in?"

"Yeah, come in." he said stepping back and holding the door open for me.

The other blonde boy appeared in the room and introduced himself as Ashton making small talk with me while Calum went to find Michael.

Michael appeared in the room followed by Luke and Calum. Michael coughed and the boys shuffled out of the room, although I doubt that they went far.

"Hey," I said, "I've got some bad news."

"Oh I knew this was coming, ok well thanks for being so nice about it, I won't bother you any more." He replied looking very upset.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"You came to cancel the date, didn't you?"

"No, yes, I don't know, I don't want to, look my brother just phoned and asked if I would have my niece again tonight, that's all."

Michael stepped towards me.

"Oh that's ok then, um... oh I know bring her round here and I'll order Chinese instead?"

"Aww Michael that's lovely but I don't want to disturb the boys, would you mind if we did it at mine instead, then if Rosie gets tired she can go to bed and stuff like that?"

"Oh yeah that makes more sense, sure." he said smiling.

"Thanks, cool so come round about 6, yeah?" I said walking towards the door.

"Yeah okay, see you then." he walked me to the door and I could see Ashton, Luke and Calum poking their heads into the living room.

Michael opened the door for me and just looked at me and smiled. He leant forward and kissed me on the cheek. I blushed and I could hear the boys making immature and embaressing noises.

"I'm sorry I couldn't help it." he said blushing the same as me.

"That's okay, don't apologise," I said, "um... I best go, my brother will be here soon, see you in a bit." I made my way down the path.

"I look forward to it." he said.
