Chapter 1-Begining of The End
16:52, 2 May 2020The mountain exploded in a fiery hurricane of debris. Moon found herself thrown back, slamming into a large tree. Through the blur of smoke and ashes, she could make out a massive figure, his great wings stretched out over Jade Mountain. A feeling of terror overwhelmed Moon, as the black dragon crawled from his prison.
Moon sat up in bed, shaking. "Another nightmare.."
For about a month, she had been haunted by the same dream. Every time, she would awake in the middle of the night, screams still echoing in her mind. "Take a deep breath."
Moon took moment to take in the familiar surroundings of he prison. Darkstalker's palace by the sea. It wasn't much of a prison. The room where she stayed was lavish, with elegant curtains, colorful pillows, and tapestries.
Moon hated it.
Every square inch of that palace. She hated how Darkstalker gave her everything she could have ever dreamed of. She hated the way he twisted his words, making himself seem so innocent. She hated the mindless drones that were his soldiers. She hated everything in that cold, lonely castle by the sea. But there was no leaving it. She was his prisoner.
Moon often reminded herself to be grateful he left her alone most of the time. Darkstalker was two busy attempting to rule Pyrrihia. Nevertheless, Moon wanted to be free of this nightmare. She sighed and stood up in her room. Folding her wings tightly against her side, she stepped out into the busy halls.
"Good morning, miss." A timid she dragon said. Moon smiled faintly at her. "Good morning Dream." Moon replied. Dream had been appointed as Moon's servant by Darkstalker, and despite her refusing to have a servant, he ordered it anyway. "Take the day off." Moon shushed her tail and began to walk away. "Again?" Dream frowned. Moon nodded. "I beg your pardon miss, but Darkstalker did appoint me as your servant." Dream insisted. "Very well, you can stay with me. But I don't consider you a servant." Moon said, and continued to walk down the hall.
Dream sighed and follow Moon into the throne room.
The throne room was busier than the hall as Darkstalker called out orders to servants and guards. Moon stood back, watching the dragons scurry about to fulfill whatever command he gave them. Moon often wondered how Darkstalker had planned out his army. The servants weren't like drones, and neither were generals or high ranking dragons. Yet all the soldiers were mindless. They followed every command without hesitation. It broke Moon's heart, knowing that they couldn't choose what they wanted to do with their life.
She watched as a young general came in, his scales covered in blood and earth. "My lord, our scouts took out a group of Icewings. Among them was Prince Winter." He bowed. "Where is he?" Darkstalker hissed. "H-he g-got away.." the officer stammered. " Darkstalker cursed under his breath. "Send out your dragons and find him. You have three days." He snarled. "M-my lord, the dragons.. there're erasures.. they can't possibly-" Darkstalker cit him off, dragging his talons over the officer's snout. "Find him. Now!" Darkstalker barked. The officer nodded and rushed out of the throne room. "Darkstalker!" Moon hissed. "You shouldn't have hurt him. And why are you hunting Winter?! You promised you wouldn't hurt my friends! I held my end of the bargain, now hold yours!" She growled.
Darkstalker chuckled. "Last I checked, Winter wasn't your friend." Moon winced at the statement. It was true. The she-dragon close her eyes as she recalled the earlier events.
"It's coming! We have to run!" Moon said breathlessly, as she ran up to her winglet. "What's going on?" Kinkajou frowned. "The mountain is going to fall! You have to get out, something is coming!" "How do you know?" Winter snarled. "I-I.. can see the future." Moon lowered her voice. "What?!" Qibli exclaimed. "Look we don't have time for this, just go!" Qibli, Turtle, and Kinkajou rushed out of the dormitory leaving Winter and Moon alone. "Winter, let's go!" "You lied to me." He growled. "I'm sorry but we need to leave." "And to think I actually trusted you.. Trusted a NIGHTWING!" His voice was low and threatening. "Please Winter.." She begged. "I can't trust you Moon. Not anymore. I hate Nightwings! They are lying, murderous dragons. I hate them! I hate you!" He flew out of the room, and Moon crumpled to the ground. "No time for this." She murmured, before rushing out of the academy.
"Anyway, you got a letter. I don't recognize the name, and I haven't had a chance to read it." Darkstalker handed her a sealed scroll. "Secretkeeper." She read aloud. "It's my mother." Moon said. "Well, then I won't need to read it. Now, please allow me to continue my work." Moon nodded and sadly walked back to her room. She needed to contact Winter.. but how?
Hey! Thank you for reading! I do not own any of these characters! This is just a fan fiction! Dream is the only character that I made up.
