Chapter 20
20:04, 11 February 2023~Filler and Crossover~
Kat's P.O.V.
Just after getting back from our interesting trip from the hotel I got a call from an old friend, asking me to make an appearance in New Orleans. I couldn't say that I was not keen on meeting with the dear family, but I still had things that I was not happy to leave in Beacon Hills. Although, after adding some notes to my research I packed a bag and still left the town for two days after giving a quick heads up to the guys and Deaton that I'm out for now. No, I wasn't planning on checking on Derek before I went away, he was a big boy knowing how to contact others.
A dropped my bag into my car and headed to the airport. Even if we were long-time friends, there was no way in hell that I would drive thirty hours just to meet them, and I also didn't want to experiment with teleportation, again. I wasn't in the mood to go with short distance teleportation, or pray that I'm not landing on Antarctica. So plane it is.
When I landed five hours later I got into the car that Klaus arranged to me. I dropped my bag down and began the not so long drive to the address he gave me. We haven't met in a couple months, yet surprisingly I was so willing to meet him, especially that he mentioned some kind of announcement I didn't know what to think about at that time. If only I knew...
Even if I despised most of the living witches now days, and NOLA was their paradise, there was still a young witch I really wanted to meet since last time I checked, she was kept in an attic. Which could sound really bad, but at least she was not a sacrifice. Thinking about sacrifice... I took a grab of my phone and dialed a number I somehow still had, yet, I never thought that I would call him again. After a short waiting the man picked up the call.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Chris." I said somewhat awkwardly "Please, don't hang up on me right now."
"Go ahead..." I heard him sigh.
"Okay, so..." I cleared my throat while taking a right "You're also onto the darach, correct?"
"Yes." I could feel that he nodded on the other side.
"And have you done research on where the bodies were found? Or were they could be possibly found in the future?"
"I did mark every place on the map where a body has been found, but I can't seem to find a pattern for it." he let out a loud sigh "What was the actual reason you called me?"
"I'm getting there, try to keep calm for a hot sec." I rolled my eyes "So, you have already marked them. And didn't manage to find a pattern..." I was thinking out loud.
"Your point?"
"Look at them again." I paused for a second "Currents." I took a deep breath before continuing "Telluric Currents to be precise."
"Why are you telling me this...?"
"I know you're also trying to stop the sacrifices. Our answers will be on the currents, I just don't how. Yet." I scratched the back of my head as I parked in front of a house "And I won't be in town for two days. I'm only telling you because I still trust you when it comes to that, despite our differences. And you're the only one I can think of when comes to figuring this one out."
"Thank you." there was a short silence on the line "I'll take a further look into it."
"Thank you." I exhaled a lather large amount of air "Keep on eye on the kids."
"Will do." when the line disconnected I put my phone in my pocket and approached the house after locking my car. But before I stepped in a stopped in my tracks, sensing something wrong from the Quarter. Being as curious as always I sped in the direction. It wasn't a long way or a long time to get there but when I sniffed into the air my eyes went wide. Werewolf in the Quarter. Nope, not good, horrible. I quickly shook the thoughts away as I sped closer, only to see that the slave vampires were already trying to kill the poor creature. Being me, who loves to stuck their nose in someone else's business, especially when they're here, I stepped behind two vampires and broke one's neck before he could attack, and grabbing the other one's heart I ripped it out of his chest in a swift motion.
"Werewolf in the Quarter. Indeed a dumb move."
"Kat?" the wolf spoke quietly as she looked at me with wide eyes, while I still kept an eye out for any oncoming danger "What are you doing here?"
"Hayley?" I said her name still being in shock at the sight of her "Nik called me to get in the city." I answered, my shock still not willing to disappear "What are you doing here? Why aren't you with my favorite pack in the mountains?"
"Long story." she let out a sigh, covering her stomach just as the sound of a tiny heartbeat found its way to my eyes, causing me to stare at the girl's belly. She noticed what I was doing and she looked at me with panic in her eyes.
"And you're pregnant?!" I whisper-yelled as I stepped closer. "Correction, I don't really wanna know. But you're an idiot to drink wolfsbane." I shook my head, taking out a tissue from my pocket to wipe the blood off from my hands. "Call whoever you're staying with, and get home safely."
"You're not staying here with me until they get here?" she asked, but I could tell that she simply didn't want to call whoever she needed to.
"Those are dead." I pointed to the bodies on the floor. "The big, bad "King of New Orleans" won't send a backup. Well, precisely not right away." I said out of experience, and before she could say anything I sped away.
-----------------------------------
I didn't bother to knock on the door the next day when I went back to the house of the Mikaelson, I simply twisted the doorknob and casually walked in, only to be greeted by the voice of a certain blonde and his brother as they were casually arguing in the middle of the house. Ah, good old memories.
"Oh, I've found the best time to arrive." I clapped my hands together just as a specific hybrid turned in my direction. "Hello, Nik."
"Ah, little demon, I see you've arrived." Klaus spoke up and turned fully to me after seeing my face. Coming closer with a shit eating grin he engulfed me in a big hug, also giving me a kiss on my right temple. Just as he did that, I froze. I only heard Rebekah and him earlier, yet I still heard two more heartbeats coming from a room. I let go of him as I took a step back.
"Who else is in there? Why do I hear two more heartbeats, but only one person breathing?"
"That's why I called you here in the first place." his eyebrows danced upwards as his grin didn't falter for not even a moment "It's Hayley, heard you two met last night in the Quarter."
"Yes, before she almost poisoned her baby and got killed by Marcell's slav-" I cut myself off as the sudden realization hit me "What, wait- It's yours?"
"Surprise, little demon." he spread out him arms.
"You? A father?!" I yelled in shock as I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that I thousand years old hybrid found a way to procreate "Okay, I need a drink..." I put my hands up, blinking rapidly as I walked in further and poured a glass of scotch for myself "Nature's new loophole... I can't even process that, but it's still hilarious..." I shook my head, laughing "Where's Bex? I heard the two of you yelling earlier."
"She's here somewhere." he shrugged, but just as the words left his mouth the said blonde sped into the living room, engulfing me in a bone crushing hug.
"Oh, hey there." I choked out as she managed to hold me too tight, but I hugged her back.
"It's lovely to see you again." she smiled as she let go of me "This time it hadn't take you thirty years to see us."
"Yeah, don't remind me..." I frowned "Also, I would remind you that someone's been inside a coffin for ninety years, before that, I met you in the twenties." I shrugged my shoulders as she groaned at the memory, but I quickly changed the topic "By the way, Atlas sent his regards, he's in Europe so he couldn't make it." I informed the two of them.
"Now that's a man I haven't seen in over a hundred years." a sly smirk plastered across her voice at the mention of the man.
"Don't get any ideas, Rebekah." Klaus shook his head in disapproval as went back to the doorway.
"You're out of the picture I suppose, so let's get this over with." the girl said after rolling her eyes at her brother's remark. "Elijah is gone, thanks to Klaus, and we need to get him back as soon as possibly. I saw him, but I don't remember where he's being kept." before I could react with another, Hayley walked into the room with a journal tightly hugged to her chest.
"The werewolf would like to know what the plan is. Hey..." she said the last part as she noticed me. I only gave her a small smile as I downed my drink.
"Well, that depends on what plan you mean, love..." Nik spoke "My plan for global domination, or Rebekah's plan to find love in a cruel, cruel word." he said with a grin. But just as he finished his sentence the younger sister gave him a sarcastic smile before swiftly grabbing a rather large pencil and threw in straight at the hybrid's face, but he managed to casually grabbed it with a smile before it got anywhere near to cause any damage.
"Still hot reflexes." I stated quietly, even though I knew all of them could hear me, as I poured myself another drink. Klaus chuckled in amusement while his sister frowned in disgust.
"The plan to rescue Elijah, you know..." Haley clarified "The good brother, the one who is now in the possession of your mortal enemy after you stabbed him in the back."
"The phrase, good brother, is pretty relative." I added with a smile.
"And in the front, if we're being specific." Klaus said in fake innocence which made me laugh.
"You two said you would get him back. So is there a plan, or what?"
"Okay." Klaus sighed, gesturing us to follow him in the room next door. I was the first to follow as I refilled my glass and sat down on a chair. When I saw that Nik put his legs up on the table I smile spread on my face as I put my owns on top of his, getting way to comfortable while listening to his great plan. "Well, firstly, Marcel is not my mortal enemy."
"And I'm the Easter Bunny." I mumbled under my nose.
"He's my friend, albeit one who is unaware that I am trying to sabotage his hold over the supernatural community of the French Quarter, but a friend, nonetheless. And secondly, I daggered Elijah, in order to gain Marcel's trust." he continued his explanation while he fidgeted with the part of my jeans that was placed on his leg "If I had known he would place my brother in the hands of a particularly nasty teenage witch, I certainly would have weighed my options a bit differently, and thirdly, sister please." Just as he mentioned "teenage witch", my thoughts immediately wondered to a Claire witch who was in Marcel's care since the Harvest. I certainly hoped that it was not the case, but since I planned on also visiting her I knew that I would find it out either way. Although, I had a feeling about Elijah being held there. Somehow, I felt that even in a coffin, that noble man in a suit already had a plan of his own...
"And thirdly." Rebekah's voice brought me back from my thoughts "The plan, as you have demanded, is for Niklaus to simply ask Marcel for Elijah back." Which sounds impossible as it is.
"That's, that's not the whole plan, is it?" The werewolf asked warily.
"Oh, please." the blonde vampire chuckled. "Klaus may be a miserable excuse for a sibling, but there is none more diabolical."
"Second that." I nodded with a small grin while taking a sip of the scotch.
"Well, that is only the plan A, love." he looked at Hayley "There's always a plan B." he started as I quickly caught on what he was saying, making me smirk.
"And what's plan B?"
"War." I answered at the same time as Nik, earning a proud smirk from him.
"I'll look into our witch problem, Klaus, you talk to Marcel." Rebekah said before she turned on her heals and walked out of the house. Hayley on the other hand turned away from us and went back to where she came from without a single word, while Nik was about to go and do his own task.
"No, no, no. You stay for a little longer." I was pushing his legs down with my own as a smirk formed on my lips.
"What is on your mind, love?" he smirked as he leaned back on the chair.
"Have a drink with me." I stretched to get a hold of the scotch "I don't care if you're in a hurry or not, I want at least one drink with an old friend." I held out a filled glass to him.
"I was just about to visit an other old friend which visit could also turn into us having a drink." he took the glass without a second thought "But I can stay a little longer, although, I presume you're also planning on visiting Marcellus. Maybe you could join me."
"I'd give him an aneurysm paired with a heart attach if I showed up. There's no way I'm going close to him." I shook my head as I laughed. "Even if I'm pissed about him controlling the witches, I still don't care, they kind of deserve it. I'm keeping a low profile, also, I am still not in tip-top condition, that's why I'm also avoiding witches." he looked at me with furrowed eyebrows as he lowered his glass.
"What do you mean by not in tip-top condition?" I let out a loud sigh before I answered. "It is still there?"
"Curse is still unabated, well, faded a little bit, but it's still there nonetheless. Furthermore, it's been only two days since I broke a linking spell between me and a werewolf which was a complete nightmare." Just as the words werewolf left my mouth, his curved into a mischievous smirk "Don't even think about it." I lifted up my index finger "They're from the other lineage."
"Oh, so the non-cursed wolves, one fascinating species." he was examining his drink with a half smirk "Wonder if they could become hybrids. Have you tested it?"
"Don't. Even. Think about it." I rolled my eyes with an annoyed sigh. "And I have no idea, I haven't tested it."
"Yet." he added as his grin grew wider.
"And I won't. End of discussion, love. Although... I am indeed curious but I won't try it out. I don't need hybrids, unlike you."
"It's your loss, really." he laughed in amusement. "I should just visit you someday. What did you say, what town are you in?"
"It doesn't matter and I never said the name." I shook my head "So... Since I'm here and I don't want to talk about the town I'm currently residing in.." I tilted my to the left "What do you want me to do? How can I help?"
"Now that you're offering your services to me..."I rolled my eyes "What do you say about some torture?"
"Yes." my eyes immediately lit up and I answered without a second thought.
"But." he cut me off "I have a newborn vampire to do that, you can keep an eye on him. He has to bleed out another one for me."
"You just hook me in with the mention of torture, yet, you want me to babysit a baby vamp...?" I groaned in annoyance.
"Yes, and You can show him how to do it correctly. He's already compelled. He will listen to you."
"Wonderful." I added sarcastically as I lifted up my glass "For a great torture party."
"An average torture party." he corrected as he clinked our glasses together.
"Fuck off."
"I missed you too, Aikaterine." he reacted with an amused smile as he took a sip of his drink.
"Stick with Kat, little wolf." I winked at him.
Later that day after Nik left and before I went to visit the teen witch, I reluctantly did my job to keep an eye out on a compelled baby vampire, since his task was to bleed out another vampire, so he can also be Nik's little toy in the big scheme. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't opposed to watch some torture, although I would have rather done it myself, but I quickly got bored since the one doing it clearly had no idea what to do. I slowly stood up from the stairs and dusted myself off with an annoyed sigh.
"Okay, enough with the poking." I said as I walked towards them. The man, called Josh if I'm correct, turned to me with discomfort in his eyes.
"Sorry, I'm like... I'm not a guy who's expert in medieval torture." he slowly shook his head, looking back at the man who was chained up in front of him.
"That's why I told you to stop." I groaned, quickly picking up a pitchfork that I stabbed in our guy's stomach with great force, twisting it inside of him which caused the blood to ooze out of him quicker "Now.." I started as I let go of the wood handle "That's how you do it. Well, that's the minimum." I smiled at him, just as his face scrunched up in disgust.
"What did he do to you anyway?"
"To Klaus, not me, baby vamp." I corrected "And it's just about what he's going to do for him." I gestured towards the pitchfork for him which he grabbed after a moment and repeated my same exact movements from before. "Perfect. Repeat it, over and over again." I demanded as I turned around. "But since my dear friends are a little low on time right now, you can't afford to be gentle about it. Twist it. Stab him with it. You know the drill by now." I waved at him, so after my sign he repeated the process. "Good. The little wolf should be here soon to see your progress. Farewell, Joshua." And with that, I exited the little torture chamber and went on my way to the church.
-----------------------------------
Just being near a church sent shivers down my spine. Not because it had an effect on my supernatural being, but because I always hated them, especially the worshipping part that took place in here most of the time. Well, not like other witches are not worshipping anything, but it still weirded me out.
After gathering my strength with a loud inhale I pushed the doors open and stepped in. The place looked just the same as eight month prior to my current presence here. It was still as full of decoration as ever... Although, the dark colors did give the place a special vibe which I found more than interesting. As I walked through the aisle my fingers brushed along the top of the benches until I reached the altar and spoke up.
"Greetings, Kieran!" I made my presence known, so he wouldn't freak out when I just appear in the attic. I could hear his loud groan at hearing my voice, but when he didn't even gave me a normal answer I went up the stairs without another word. Reaching the big door at the top of the stairs I stopped for a moment. Placing my hand on the wall I siphoned away the barrier from the doorway so I could actually go in. I would replace it with another spell afterwards anyways. When I finished I knocked on the wood before I opened it, and I leaned against the frame of it with my hands crossed in front of my chest.
In front of me was a beautiful young girl, still wearing an all white dress, just like the day when Marcel took her in, while kneeling down beside a brown coffin. She looked surprised when she saw that it was me on the other side of the door, other than that, she didn't know how to react.
"Hey, Davina." I greeted her with a smile.
"What are you doing here?" she asked in a demanding tone, which made me chuckle.
"That's how you greet an old friend?" I asked, tilting my head to the right "Can I come in?"
"You have to be invited in." she stated like I didn't know as she stared up at me "I'm not inviting you in. The barrier's keeping you out." I lifted up my right leg and just casually dangled it above the doorway to show her that despite her little rambling from earlier I could go in if I wanted to.
"I just wanted to be polite and to not invade your privacy." I clicked my tongue as I looked around the attic "You settled in pretty well."
"Why are you here, Kat?" she asked as she stepped closer to me just as I took a step inside.
"Just wanted to check you since I'm in the city for a little bit." I shrugged my shoulders as I walked to the coffin "What do we have here?" I asked like a didn't know, but I recognized Elijah as soon as I saw his veiny and gray face inside the coffin.
"An old one." she sighed, moving next to me "Marcel gave him to me." while she was talking a closed my eyes for a moment as I placed a hand on the man's temple to get inside his head for a moment "Don't touch him!"
"Chill." I peaked at her as I opened my left eye "I'm not taking him anywhere." just as I said that the connection was made and I heard Elijah inside my head. Leave me here. It's going to be alright, I do have a plan. I give you my word. I rolled my eyes as I let go of him. Well, I do trust in his plans more often than in Nik's. So I let him have it. I also took it as my cue, that my presence in the city is not needed much longer. "Okay, maybe I did have a reason I came here to see you." I said as I turned to the girl, who looked at me in disgust "What's with the look?"
"You either want me to do the Harvest, or you're taking him with you. There's no other explanation to why you're here." she crossed her arms as she looked up at me.
"Wrong." I tapped my index finger on my jaw as if I was thinking hard on my answer "And also wrong." I stared straight into her eyes as I said it "I came to warn you."
"Warn me about what?" I could feel the power in the room rising when she stepped closer to me, as I got under her skin a little bit.
"Don't get involved." I said softly "It's not worth it to be involved between a battle of vampires against vampires." I spoke my short answer "Stay neutral." a small smile appeared on my lips as I placed a hand on her shoulder, gently siphoning some of magic without her even noticing it "By the way, you're ancestors would be still proud if you, nice little power you get there, but stop it." I slightly squeezed her shoulder to make her stop, which she did, as a faint smile was also evident on her lips "I hope you're aware that I don't hate you."
"I know." she sighed "You were helping Marcel stopping the Harvest."
"As I said a million times, and I'll say for the millionth and one, I hate sacrifices. Especially if they involve children." I frowned, letting go of her as I headed towards the door. Just before I could close it behind me she spoke up.
"Will you visit me another time?"
"Probably, but we'll see." I let a smile tug at the corner of my lips as I closed the door and put my hand on the wall behind it. After performing a non-verbal spell to get her barrier back up just like it was before I've gone on way to take a stroll around the city while avoiding Marcel.
-----------------------------------
I was glad that my "quick" walk went around more than chill. After doing a couple of shots of scotch and feeing on random people on the street I went back to the Mikaelsons' house before I could began my way back to Beacon Hills. Since the vampire king held a ball tonight there way no way in hell that I would stick around longer. Before the two Originals could leave to the event I went into Rebekah's room as she was getting ready.
"Hey." I opened the door at the same time I knocked on it.
"Why aren't you getting ready for the ball?" she looked at me, furrowing her eyebrows while checking me up and down.
"Not coming?" I walked in and stopped in front of here.
"You're leaving already? You just got here!" she yelled in my face in disbelief and disappointment.
"Exactly." I nodded "I have other things to attend to. My current town is getting worse than Mystic Falls..." I sight, brushing my fingers through my hair "Even though..." I glanced back at her "I do have a parting gift."
"Which is?" she looked at me expectedly.
"Something that's gonna hurt." I placed my hands on her head as I started siphoning the pure magic that erased Davina's location. When it was done I made sure that it was an actual parting gift, but in my fashion. I placed a spell on her, that would keep that information locked away for two to three days, but before I let go of her head I wiped the memory of me even doing one spell on her, keeping only the part intact that I'm leaving them.
"So I have to go. But take care of yourselves." I said after I let go of her, she blinked as her mind caught into where we were.
"You too." she sighed giving me hug, and when we separated I began my way through the door.
"And good luck." I added, closing the door, and I started my way to the airport, and then back to Beacon Hills, hoping the shit didn't went down while I was away.
