⋆ Chapter 43 ⋆New Guy

                     Maddy was right. Cassie had been up all night texting someone. But it sure as hell wasn't McKay. No she was texting Nate.

The Jacobs boy of course didn't reply to her. But that didn't stop her from spamming him. It didn't matter how many times Nate prayed for her to stop. She didn't.

Cassie Howard was hopelessly in love with Nate Jacobs. Unfortunately, this love was one sided. It bugged Cassie that the guy she loved was in love with someone else. She wanted Nate to love her like he loved Adaline.

Was Cassie avoiding Adaline? Yes. She was.

It was easier to avoid the brunette. That way Cassie didn't have to look at her happily pregnant friend. All Cassie felt was guilt when she looked at Adaline. But that guilt was overpowered by want and need when she thought about Nate.

"I feel like I would look so sexy pregnant." Maddy announced placing her hands on her stomach looking into the bathroom mirror.

"Maddy, please do not get pregnant." Kat pleaded.

"I wouldn't wear any of those nasty maternity clothes. I would just be me... plus pregnant." Maddy laughed. "I mean look at Addie she's how far along and she still looks sexy as fuck."

"I don't feel like it."

"Girl please." Kat rolled her eyes turning to the brunette. "You're literally stunning."

Adaline smiled giving Kat a kiss on the cheek and a small thanks. Lately she was feeling a bit like a whale. Most of her clothes were starting to get tight on her. Any time Adaline would put herself down Nate would be there to remind her how beautiful she was.

"Remember when I got pregnant?" BB asked hitting her vape.

"Yes, and it would be nothing like that."

"Well, speaking of baby daddies, I've seen the photo that Ethan posted of the two of you. It's cute as fսck." BB spoke.

"Yeah, Kat, stop flaunting your healthy, non-abusive, wonderful relationship. It's actually triggering."

Adaline rolled her eyes at Maddy as everyone laughed. "I love Ethan. He's so nice."

"Yeah, he's, um... He's really sweet." Kat nodded staring at herself in the mirror.

"Have y'all seen the new kid?"

"No." Adaline shook her head. "There's a new kid?"

"Yeah, I seen him walking around with Rue." Maddy nodded. "He's pretty hot. I might have to get his number."

The Kingston girl had no idea there was a new kid. She hadn't seen Rue yet today so maybe that was why she didn't see this new "hot" guy as Maddy put it.

"Shit." Adaline cursed. "I'm going to be late for AP Gov. I'll see you guys later?" The three other girls nodded shouting goodbyes after her.

Adaline hated government. She thought the class was so boring. She couldn't figure out what possessed her to take AP Gov in the first place. The girl couldn't have been more happy when the bell rang signaling that it was finally time to go home.

"Hey Rue Rue!" The Kingston girl shouted noticing her curly haired friend down the hallway with her back to her.

Rue had the biggest smile on her face when she turned around and saw Adaline making her way towards her.

"Addie!" She greeted wrapping the girl in a tight hug. "How are you?"

"Good. I didn't see you on New Years. I wanted to dance with you."

"Oh well you know I was just doing my rounds. Hanging out with some people." Rue nodded trying to think of an excuse as to why the girl hadn't seen her. "Plus the party was a little crazy. How's Nate?"

"He's alright." She knew Rue didn't really care. She was only asking for Adaline's sake. "I heard you got a new friend. You moving on from Jules?"

Adaline didn't necessarily have anything against the blonde. She just didn't think her and Rue were good for each other. Adaline felt like Rue was way too dependent on Jules.

"Nah Jules and I are good. We're actually kind of together." Rue said shyly.

"Holy shit Rue!" The brunette exclaimed. "I'm happy for you. If she makes you happy then that's what matters. But if she hurts you I'll have to have a few words with her."

"Okay one you're pregnant. And two I'm pretty sure Jules would kick your ass."

"It's the thought that counts you know. I got your back." Adaline laughed.

"Yo Rue. You ready to go?" A male voice questioned coming up behind Adaline.

"Yeah." Rue nodded as the brunette turned around. "Um Adaline this is-"

"Elliot." She breathed out shocked. Adaline didn't think she'd ever see him again.

"Damn Addie. Look at you!" Elliot remarked with wide eyes. He was staring directly at her stomach. "It's not-"

"No!" Adaline quickly cut him off shaking her head. "It's definitely not."

Elliot let out a sigh of relief. He definitely was not ready to have a baby. He was thankful he wasn't the father but also a little disappointed that Adaline was with someone else.

"So you two obviously know each other." Rue said making her presence once again known.

"Um yeah." Adaline shrugged. "We were friends for a little when I was away in Seattle."

"We were a little more than friends." The boy smirked at her.

"Okay well I'm going to go." The brunette awkwardly announced. She didn't wait for the other two people near her to say anything before she was marching towards the exit.

"That was awkward." Elliot said watching Adaline's retreating figure.

"So you've fucked Addie?" Rue questioned her new friend.

"Yeah. I mean look at her." Elliot joked. "A hot chick like that moves in the apartment a couple doors down from you and you're not going to shoot your shot? Plus she's not only hot she's actually pretty cool."

"You're not really her type." The Bennett girl said examining Elliot's features.

"I'm everyone's type Rue." The boy retorted. "Hey you uh you think she'll want to be friends now that I live here?"

"Good luck getting within 5 feet of her when Nate comes back." Rue snorted knowing there was no way in hell Nate would be cool with Elliot and Addie being friends. Especially if he knew they used to hook up.

"Who's Nate?"

"Her boyfriend and the one that knocked her up." Rue explained. "He's also the dude that got the shit bet out of him at the party."

"Oh shit that was him?" Elliot laughed. "Why the hell is she with him? The guy seems like a dick."

"You have no idea." The curly haired girl shook her head leaving the school alongside her new friend.
