Why Do You Always Wear Black?
22:17, 23 January 2018So, guys, you know how Rhysand always wears black, this is basically just a short bit about that. Hope you like ;)....
(Feyre P.O.V.)
Black. Black. And more black. I shoved my face out of the wardrobe and looked to my mate who was still in bed.
"Rhys! Why are all of your clothes black?
Rhys slowly lifted his gaze to look at me. "What's wrong with black?"
I crossed my arms. "I didn't say that there was anything wrong with it, but you should have varied colors of clothing."
Rhys just shrugged. "Black suits me best."
I frowned. "Well I don't care what you think suits you best. Get dressed. We're going shopping right now and you are going to try on something other than black." Some part of me settled back in satisfaction. There. I had addressed the matter, like a High Lady.
Rhys straightened a bit. A predatory gleam flickered in his eyes. "Is that a command, Feyre Darling?" he purred.
He wanted to play. Fine, I could play too. I stood, back straight and chin high. "Yes. It is. By the High Lady of the Night Court."
A smile flashed across his face as he rasped a laugh. "Very demanding." But he got out of bed all the same. He looked even more gorgeous in the mornings when his hair was mussed and gone slightly curly at the ends, when his eyes were large and alert. I bit my lip as he prowled towards me, stopping right in front of me. His hand reached past me to the wardrobe but his lips brushed my ear as he leaned closer. He whispered, "Should we see how demanding I can be too, Feyre?"
I jumped back, hitting my head on the door of the closet. Rhys laughed as I growled at him, pushing past him with a hand on my head.
(When they return).....
I sighed, flopping down onto the bed. "No color but black does suit you."
"What did I say? Now all that time gone to waste," Rhys tutted, "All the things we could have been doing..."
My head shot up. "Like what?"
He raised his hands in innocence, eyes going wide. "I was just saying. Things like..... Preparing for the meeting later on? I didn't mean anything else," he raised his eyebrows in a suggestive way and smirked at my scowl.
I shook my head, then stood up and walked to him. "Rhys, I'm not sure if I can.... if I can run the meeting." I looked up at him but his face was now filled with patience and concern, focusing on my every word. I swallowed. "What I mean is that many won't believe my story. And you know there are some of Hybern's men still out there; still hating us. And..... Tamlin will be there too and I do trust him but there's just this uneasiness between us, even after everything. And I think there always will be. I just don't think I can face him."
Rhys stroked his thumb down my cheek. "You can do it. Because I believe in you. I don't give a damn if none of the others do or not because they're just stupid fools if they don't believe you. And if we walk out of that meeting without success, just know that I'll always believe you. And so will the others: Cassian, Azriel, Mor, Amren, Nesta, Elain.......," he choked on a laugh, "Lucien."
I gazed up into his eyes, thankful for what he had told me. I had already known it all, but I needed him to tell me. "It means more to me than you know, Rhys, but I am grateful. For you. For you all. And don't think that I'll ever forget that. But," I continued, my voice turning more serious, "Rhys, if we walk away without any progress and just worsened relations between us all, then we cannot be satisfied with that. Prythian and the Human World is not safe until we have come to agreements and work together as a team."
"I know that. But you are more important to me than anything. If we have to live in ruins forever, so be it. As long as I have you, everything will be just fine."
He tried to cuddle me but I pushed him away. "That's not fair on anyone else and you know it. Especially not for the humans. They are so weak compared to us and have so little. We cannot leave them to this. This is not their burden alone. Did they not choose to stand with us against Hybern? Even though they knew they didn't stand a chance of survival? I won't let them face it alone."
"And I don't disagree. What I'm trying to say, Feyre, is that if the other courts do not agree to help us, which probably won't happen, then we'll do it alone. We'll help the humans alone. Just us. Because I don't want someone like Beron helping only because he knows Eris has a knife to his throat. I want them to do it out of their own choice. And they will. I know it. Because your story isn't like any other's, Feyre. You were a human and were prepared to give your life to save faeries." I blushed but he lifted my chin. "Who else in the history of Prythian has even thought to do something like that?"
I leaned into him. "I guess you're right. Again."
I heard the smile in his voice as he murmured, "Indeed."
