27. The Best Breakfast

Dressed in lavender, sage green and white, we meet for the fifth breakfast at the balcony dining room.

We pass through the doors. Annalyse and Emmerlyn are already here.

"Jax and Ollie should be here any minute." Emmerlyn says.

Servers set down a whole bunch of bowls, platters, and plates full of croissants, pattycakes, caramel cakes, figgy pudding, cinnamon rolls, Yorkshire pudding and more. This looks insanely good.

Ollie bursts through the doors with Jax behind him.

"PATTYCAKES!!!!!!" Ollie practically screams.

"Holy gingerbread, Ollie." Kayla says. "Happy birthday Jax!"

The rest of my friends follow.

"Thank you guys!" Jax says, and sits down.

The rest of us sit down too.

"Actually, it's been his birthday since last night after we had cake." I banter.

"Facts." Jocelyn agrees.

"True I guess. Let's dig in!"

"Sorry to darken the mood around here, but I brought the Pegasus Post." I confide.

"It's no issue, we were planning to have a meeting, so let's read it." Kayla says, and I hand her the scroll. She reads the whole thing to us.

"Whoa..." Maxine falters.

"'You guys are done for'? Harsh." Hayley says.

"Sounds like a battle is brewing." Ollie says.

"That's exactly what it seems, but like I said already, we have such good security, they can't get in."

"By 'a certain group of people should be locked away', she means us, right?" AG asks and takes a sip of her café miel.

"Mhm. But how the heck can they do that?" Jocelyn questions.

"They can't. The whole castle has a bulletproof protection charm on it, and the doors and gates always stay locked." Jax assures.

"Just making sure that we for sure don't have any guests coming?" Maxine asks.

"None other than you guys, and, well, them if they try." Annalyse says.

"Then we should be fine," Kayla says, "if they really are coming, we can alert the DPS and they can take AHG away before they even get on grounds."

"We can't call the Dwarf Police Squad unless there is a problem, not if we think there'll be a problem in a few days." AG points out.

"True." I agree. "Well then, I guess we figured out that there won't be a problem."

"If we see them, we'll call the DPS. Sound good?" Jax asks.

"Sounds good." We all agree.
