Every other human would try to forget about their incident, trauma or the horror that happened to them and never want the history to repeat again, or try to avoid the place it happened at. That doesn't count for Jane Grant.
Recieving scars, nightmares and scary past after what happened at the very first Jurassic Park in 1993. When they managed to survive and left the island, she thought to herself that she'll never go back there. She was mistaken. It was years ago when she was only a kid and now her decisions changed.
When it was still Jurassic Park and the night when everything went shitty, the queen of dinosaurs happened to act around her differently than around other humans. She was calm, comfortable and seemed to like Jane's company. If it wasn't for Rexy liking her, she would be dead. And Rexy isn't the only dinosaur that let her live.
That's why Jane is going back to Isla Nublar, to figure out in what is she different from others. Why dinosaurs seem to like her and hadn't killed her when they had a chance? However, Rexy is the main reason she's going back. And because she's obsessed with dinosaurs and love them much more than children and her own race.
No one stopped her from going, not even her best friend Owen. The only they said is: "If that's what you want then I'm not gonna try to stop you.". Everyone are okay with her going except for her uncle, Alan Grant.
Yes, Alan Grant has a niece and practically raised her after his brother and sister-in-law died in car crash. Everyone know he don't like children. Every child except Jane.
Ever since Jane was little, her obsession with dinosaurs only grew bigger as well as smarteness. And Alan admired her for it. When her parents died, she was handed to Alan's care. He always took her to his job as paleontologist and taught her dig fossils. She was his little helper, sometimes mistaken as his daughter. If he'd ever have a child, he would want them to be like Jane.
She's the only child he ever cared about and never want to lose her. And that's the reason why he refuse to let her go back to Isla Nublar to work with dinosaurs, worried for her safety. He almost fainted when Jane told him she wanna go back. The thought of her being hurt or worse eaten by one of them scares him. They barely survived Jurassic Park, not even talking about what he went through at Isla Sorna. Dinosaurs are fascinating, he must admit, but the only he found about these made dinosaurs is danger. And if she go, this time he won't be there to protect her.
"No. Not happening. You are not going anywhere, Jay." And their stubbornes lead them to arguing.
"Uncle, I know you are worried about my safety after Jurassic Park, but I made my decision. Everyone I told didn't protest letting me go but you." Jane argued with her uncle back, folding her clothes and putting it in her red suitcase. This day is when she's leaving for the island with dinosaurs and Alan is still trying to talk her out of it.
"Yes. Because I'm your uncle, your guardian and I Am the one that raised you because I care 'bout you! And you're still a child!" Jane rolled her eyes at him. She has no time for this shit. In two hours her plane is taking off and an hour takes her to get there. She isn't even packed yet!
"I'm 20 actually. An adult. Grown up." She reminded him, even though he know.
"To me you are still a child. Too young to die and be eaten by these lab creatures." Alan leaned against her wardrobe, tense with their conversation. They never really argued, only time to time about something stupid but this one is dead serious and he don't like where is it going.
"They're alive as much as we are. And I won't die. They have it secured there, eyes on everything. Mr. Masrani even showed me the security and map of the park after he called me. It'll be fine. And I already told you the reason why I'm going back. I have to figure myself out and I can do it only if I work with dinosaurs." Jane explained, taking glances at her uncle and not stopping packing.
"You don't need to figure yourself out. You're completely fine. And anything can happen at any time! You, young lady, are staying here, in this house, in this country and that's end of this conversation. I don't want you near those things." Alan grabbed Jane's shoulders, stopping her from putting towels in the suitcase and looking her in the eyes which remind him a lot of his brother. Jane's father once told Alan to take care of her if something happen to them and Alan swore he will. He almost lost her in the Park, there he at least was with her but it also was only their luck. If she goes, he can't keep his word to his brother.
"You can't keep me prisoned and make decisions for me, uncle. I can take care of myself. You saw me training and studying hardly, only for this and I'm not gonna throw it all aside for nothing just because you don't like the idea of me being around dinosaurs." Jane shrugged his hands off and continued, pointing out every word to let it sink in Alan's brain.
"You don't have to throw everything away for nothing. You can still use your knowledge and study for something else! Much more safer than work around dinosaurs. Maybe like at zoo!" Her uncle followed her everywhere she walked, back and fort, while throwing his hands in the air.
"I'm not asking for your permission, uncle. I have decided and no one's gonna stop me. Not even you. You are not my father. ....I have to go." Jane's words hurt him much more than ever and it looks like she's not even realizing what left her lips. She finished her packing, checked if she has everything and with her second suitcase made her way out her room and down the stairs, Alan following angrily. She already has one suitcase and bag downstairs by the door and taxi should be here any minute.
"Fine. Fine! Do whatever you want! I don't care. But if you really go back at the island, don't even try to contact me. You hear me?! Ever!" Alan raised his voice, scaring Jane a little but she know he's just angry and is saying these words out of mind. Hopefully. Althought his words hurt her, not showing it. The sound of taxi caught their attention.
"I have to go. When I get there I'll call you. .....I'm gonna miss you." Alan only stared at her unbelievably, not responding. And he hoped she would stay. Jane opened the door and walked out with her stuff, the taxi driver helping her to put it in the trunk. Alan watched her get in the car and then her leaving, disappearing from his sight. Only then he realized what he said and regret every word he told her. If he could take these said words back, he would. But the anger got better of him.

The ship finally stopped and people walked on the dock, one of these people being Jane, fully eager and nervous at the same time. The way felt like forever and that she's excited to see dinosaurs again isn't helping. Fortunately, after hours of traveling her dreams will come true soon.
When Jane applied for a job and was aceepted (of course immedialy when they realized she's a Grant), they've left a message someone will wait for her at the dock. And so Jane tried to look out through the crowd of people for someone that's probably waiting for her.
A woman with red shoulder-lenght hair, light blue blouse, tight black skirt under knees and sunglasses caught her attantion, noticing they hold a tabul with Jane's name on it. With quick steps Jane squish herself between the people and stood in front of the woman.
"Jane Grant?" The red haired woman asked, which the spoken one nodded, answering out loud to correct herself.
"Yeah, that's me."
"I'm Claire Dearing, the park operations manager. It's pleasure to meet you." After the red haired woman put her sunglasses down, the two woman shook hands politely."You too." Jane sent back.
"I'll show you where you will be living in, your stuff are already there, and then I will show you around the park." Claire explained, Jane noticing she's the type of person to have everything in order.
"Sounds like a plan." The new Jurassic World worker comment, forcing a grin. Since she already had a video call with one of the workers which assign new workers and even Masrani himself, she can freely skip the part with questions and other boring stuff. Now only to show them she's worth her place in Jurassic World. Of course she is. In the end she's one of the first which walked and survived this island. She's a Grant.
Jane followed after her supposed new boss, eyes wideing in horror at the sight of those high heels. She wonder how can someone walk in these heels without tripping or breaking their ankle. If Jane had ones, the next thing they know her ankles are broken and she's lying in hospital. They got in Claire's car, Jane in passenger seat while Claire was driving and made their way to Jane's new home, which Jane's curious at how will look.
The drive was longer than Jane expected, noticing only when she looked at the time as most of the way they talked, which is unusual for Jane. She's not very comunicative and social person, especially when they're new and strangers, so it surprised her when her and Claire shared more than twenty words. She looked out the window when they stopped and rather got out the car to get better look at the small cabin. It's small house, but pretty and big enough for one person to live in there.
"This is where you will be living. If something's not right, just tell someone. Go and take a look." Claire gestured towards the house, waiting for Jane to move so she can follow. And that's what Jane did, looking around. It looks comfy and cozy, just a few decorations and fixing there and there and she will be like home. And like Claire said at the dock, her stuff are already there.
"How do you like it?" From the doorway Claire asked, watching every move Jane did and waiting for the criticism or praise. It took Jane a minute to realize Claire is talking to her and turned, a happy smile answering Claire.
"It's good. I like it. Much more comfy than with my uncle. Oh, that reminds me I have to call him." Remembering before Jane left, she told Alan she will call him when she's at the island and so from her pocket took out her phone, dialing his number.
"Alright. I will wait outside." Nodding in understanding, Claire walked out the small house which is now Jane's new home. Jane waited for her uncle to pick up while listening to the beeping and frowned when Alan didn't pick up. Maybe he's busy or don't have phone with him right now. She will try later.
"That was quick." Claire noted when she saw Jane walking out the house, not even a minute after Claire did.
"Yeah, uhm, he didn't pick up. He's probably busy. I will call him later. Now let's go on the tour of the park." Shoving her phone back into pocket, Jane followed Claire back inside the car and they drove to the park.
Claire showed her as much as she could until the evening, where she can get food, the lab where time to time she's gonna work at, where is which dinosaur and that included paddock of the famous Tyrannosaurus Rex, aka Rexy, who will Jane train and try to figure why years ago Rexy acted the way she acted and if this time it will be different.
"And this is paddock of the t-rex, the one you asked for and signed to train." They stood behind the giant glass from where people can watch Rexy doing her stuff if she show up, being the only ones there.
Jane watched the background of the paddock for the queen of dinosaurs, not seeing her anywhere. She feel happy and excited to work in Jurassic World, however she had to hide her nervousness when she remembered what happened years ago on this island. It's still haunting her in her dreams.
"How did you managed to get her inside this paddock?" Jane asked, gesturing to Rexy's paddock. Claire remain silent, preparing to say what's on her mind but look unsure.
"I don't think you would like to know the way they did it." Claire looked sympathetically at Jane, from her look and sentence telling her they used force. Understanding her, Jane only sighed heavily and nodded. But why she feel such saddnes at the imagine of Rexy being forced with violence into this paddock. She has no bond made with her, not yet. Or-?
"I'm sorry for what happened to you and your uncle when this was a Jurassic Park. I can't imagine what you had to go through." Jane didn't look up at Claire, only kept looking out the giant window. She was separated from others for few hours so she don't know what others were doing at the time or where were they. That was when she met with Rexy for the first time, not counting when the t-rex attacked the car they were in.
"It was a long time ago. We survived and now I'm here. Back at the island where it all began. No need to feel pity for me. I'm completely fine. If I wasn't, I wouldn't be here." This time Jane turned her head to Claire, finding the woman as someone she will talk to more times than once and take her as something more than a boss. When Jane get to know someone and like them, they won't get rid of her that easily. Like with Owen, although this time they had to separate for some time as she's gonna work at the island and he's going to Navi soon.
"When can you start training the t-rex?" Claire asked after a while of silence and Jane's eyes sparkled.
"As soon as possible. Maybe tomorrow?" Without thinking Jane answered, none of them noticing something approaching them.
"Excelent. I'm sure you won't disappoint us." Claire grinned. A sudden shadow lomed over them and they looked out the window, both of the womens' eyes wideing at the sight of the Tyrannosaurus Rex watching them. No, not them. Jane.
Rexy totally ignored the red haired woman and stared at Jane. Her face look....odly familiar. And even through the thick soundproof glass she can smell a little scent of the new woman. Could it be-? But she disappeared years ago and never showed up again.
Jane walked closer, placing her palm against the glass like reaching out to touch the t-rex with a look Rexy can't puzzle what means. Rexy has a fight in her head while scanning the features of the new face. It got her annoyed since she can't think properly and huffed, turning around and walking away into the jungle of the big paddock.
Jane stared after her, letting out a breath she was holding and hasn't even realized. She felt it again. The connection she felt years ago at the Jurassic Park. It was small and weak, but still it was there and right after Rexy walked away, the feeling disappeared. She want to touch her, feel her thick skin under her palm and carese her snout, she want her company.
"That was impressing." Jane snapped from her day dreaming and turned to amazed Claire. "The t-rex never acted like that around anyone. Her trainers before you were eaten the first day they started. It seems you are meant to be her trainer."
Jane looked again out the window, processing what Claire told her and what just happened. These will be interesting years.
