I'm fucked

Mallory

I barely got any sleep.

Every time I closed my eyes, all I could think about was Kian—his hands on my waist, his lips on mine, the way he'd looked at me when he thought I wasn't paying attention.

I was so fucked.

By the time my alarm went off for school, I was already awake, staring at the ceiling like a complete idiot. I groaned, forcing myself to get up before Ma or AJ could come knocking.

The house was already busy when I made it downstairs. Ma was making tea, Da was reading something at the kitchen table, and AJ was digging through the fridge, half-dressed in his uniform.

I grabbed a slice of toast and sat across from Da, stealing a glance at my phone. Kian hadn't texted.

Not that I expected him to.

I wasn't even sure what we were. Last night felt different—like something had shifted between us—but I had no idea what that actually meant.

AJ sat down beside me, eyeing me suspiciously. "You're quiet."

I shrugged. "Tired."

He snorted. "Yeah, well, maybe if you weren't up all night on your phone—"

"I wasn't," I said quickly, kicking him under the table.

He raised an eyebrow but didn't push it.

Da folded his paper, glancing between us. "You two need a lift, or are you walking?"

"I'll walk," I said, standing up before AJ could answer for me. I needed the fresh air, needed time to clear my head.

Besides, there was a chance I'd run into Kian before class.

Not that I was looking for him or anything.

By the time I made it to school, the halls were already packed, students lingering in groups, catching up on whatever weekend gossip they had to share. I spotted Serena near our lockers, already waiting.

"Morning," she greeted, then paused, narrowing her eyes. "You look like shit."

"Thanks."

"Didn't sleep?"

"Something like that," I muttered, spinning the dial on my locker.

Serena leaned against the door, watching me too closely. "This wouldn't have anything to do with a certain someone, would it?"

I stiffened but played it off, rolling my eyes. "Don't know what you're talking about."

She smirked. "Sure you don't."

Before I could argue, the bell rang, cutting me off. I grabbed my books, walking faster than necessary to our first class.

And that's when I saw him.

Kian was already in his seat when I got to English, his chair tilted back slightly, arms crossed as he talked to someone beside him. But when I walked in, his gaze flicked up, locking onto mine.

It was barely a second.

But I felt it.

The corner of his mouth lifted in a smirk, like he knew exactly what I was thinking about.

Like he knew exactly what we'd done.

And just like that, my stomach flipped.

Yeah.

I was completely, completely fucked.
