Felix's POV

"He wanted you to end up with whom you really love." Atty. Chua said

I didn't mean to eavesdrop but the moment their conversation started, it caught my attention. Hyunjin never married Chaerin legally? It was all an act, a fake one.

"What? What are you saying?" Chaerin asked

"Do you remember when you guys got engaged when you were on an outing? He said ever since that day, he knew that you love Felix so much and whatever he does is not enough to replace Felix. He wanted to end whatever you guys have, but he doesn't want to leave you until he has the clear answer that you never loved him, and it was Felix from the beginning." Atty. Chua

I slowly closed the door and sat at the bench outside Hyunjin's room.

Hearing all of those made me wonder, how much did Hyunjin sacrifice for Chaerin and I? He has been helping us all along, and we didn't even know.

I wanted to thank him for that, but I don't think that's right. All those years, he is in pain because of what he knew. He never said anything nor complained to any of us because he wanted the best for Chaerin and I.

"Your majesty." Police officer Jinu arrived

"Good morning. Is there any update?"

"We traced the gps device for a few minutes but I think they noticed that they were being hacked. They left the car in an abandoned place. For now, we made sure that there are police officers roaming around your area, and anyone who can be involved." Police officer Jinu said

The door opened and we saw Chaerin come out of the room, her eyes looked like she just cried, and it was red.

"She will talk when she is okay-"

"I can do it now. I can tell everything, and I am more than willing to help." Chaerin said

"Are you okay?"

She nodded at me and looked away.

"Okay. Tell them what you know."

Chaerin sighed, "I knew someone was following me as soon as I was done with my duty. I was supposed to go to Felix last night but I went straight to my house. I just knew that someone was watching me. I can feel it. I know I was dumb when I decided to find it on my own, not knowing people can still get involved."

"What do you mean?"

"I saw in Hyunjin's phone that someone sent him a message, and a picture of me, which was taken from outside the house. I was right. I was being watched, but not to kill me, but to lure Hyunjin. He went to my house and was acting weird. He kept avoiding my questions but I knew that he was there for a reason." Chaerin

"What happened after that?" Officer Jinu

"I know the van was aiming for me but instead he pushed me and was hit instead. I wasn't able to move but I was sure that I saw the plate number and memorized it." Chaerin

"Great. We will need that and describe the van. For now, get some rest." Office Jinu said

"You did well, Chaerin."

She gave me a smile, a sad one. Then she went inside.

It was already in the afternoon, and I was in a restaurant, meeting Hyunjin's Dad. We were just silent for almost 10 minutes, maybe because we don't know where to start.

"I know this is late, but I would like to apologize for what happened to Hyunjin. It was all my fault and I take full responsibility for what happened. I will make sure to find who did that to him, and end everything after that-"

"How are you, Felix?" Mr. Hwang

"I am doing good. Thank you for asking, sir."

"I am not here as someone who will call you your majesty. I am here as Hyunjin's Father, and as your Father's best friend." Mr. Hwang

And those last words stopped me.

Best friend?

"Your dad is probably disappointed in me for letting you fight alone. I am sorry for being selfish and forgetting about you. Your dad has been a good friend to me. I believe that this was all the karma that I am receiving for not helping people when I am supposed to." he cried

"Yes, he is disappointed for sure. But none of these is your fault, sir."

"I'll take care of the case. I will handle it and make sure to help you. I talked to Hyunjin's assistant and received all the evidences that was gathered. I will study the case and make sure to-" Mr. Hwang

"Thank you but no. I don't want Hyunjin to lose his Father. I don't want him to wake up and not see you because of me. I know how painful it is to lose someone you love and really cherish. I don't want him to experience the same pain that I am feeling."

"Felix, just remind yourself that I am returning a favor that I owe for a long time." he said

"You don't understand how serious this case is. Hyunjin will experience the pain that I have. It's hard to lose parents. The pain is unbearable-"

"You never lost your parents, you still have me." he gave me a smiled

"Mr. Hwang, you don't want Hyunjin to feel the pain I have right now-"

He tapped my shoulder, "I am sorry it took me so long. I am here now. I'll be beside you in this fight."
