Felix's POV

I woke up with the sound of an alarm coming from my phone. It was already 10 am already and I just woke up. I wasn't able to rest properly because I got home by 6 am. I took care of what happened after I sent Chaerin home.

calling Chaerin..."Chaerin."

[Felix...] her voice is shaking

"What happened? Are you okay?"

[Nothing.]

"Chaerin, I know something is going on. It doesn't matter if you tell me or not. I wanted to make sure you are fine."

[But... I am not.]

"Okay, I'll be there-"

[He left me.]

"Who did?"

[Hyunjin did.]

What? Why would he do that? I don't know if something is going on between them but he shouldn't leave her after what happened to Chaerin.

"You are not okay. Do you want me to-"

[No, I'll be fine. I just need some time. This is so fucked up.]

"Chae-"

[I need to rest. Thank you so much. I appreciate your call.]

"Okay. Take some rest." I said and she ended the call as soon as she said goodbye

I don't know if I am being weird that I wanted to come over after whatever happened to them. But... I just wanted to be there for her. I wanted to help her if I can.

Mom and Dad were away for a few days now and they have been updating me with their pictures and videos together. I told them to bring someone with them but they refused and wanted to enjoy alone with each other.

I know they are trying to act like teenagers who went on a date. I can't blame them though. They lost almost half of their years together when Mom was in a comatose. I'm just glad the love never left. It was always there.

Dad calling...

"Dad."

[You're awake, son. How was your sleep? I heard what happened to Chaerin. Is she okay? Is she hurt?]

"She's fine. I took care of everything. Don't worry. Are you two on your way home?"

[Yes. We love you so much, Felix. We love you a lot our only child. You always makes us proud. Whatever you do is the best thing. Thank you, son.]

"Hmm? Isn't it too early for cringe messages?"

[I just appreciate you. We do. I have to hang up.]

"Yes. See you later, Dad. I love you both so much!"

He ended the call.

He never said those words to me. It feels weird but at the same time it felt good. I just love it when they are so clingy with me despite their age.

After getting ready, I went to my office and started working on some papers I left yesterday. I also took care and signed the request papers from the police officers who are on duty with the person who attacked Chaerin.

"Chaerin."

[Do you mind if I open up right now?]

"No. It's fine."

[I don't know what's happening. I thought I was going to be comforted after what happened to me but I was wrong. He fucking left me and said his goodbyes. I don't know if it's for good or... He didn't clear it out. I don't understand, Felix.]

"Just give him some time for now. I think he needed it."

[He could've told me the reason. Also... he mentioned about Sangmi. About the article you turned down.]

"I can explain."

[It's fine. Hyunjin told me.]

"I'm sorry. I just wanted you to hear it from Hyunjin and not from other people."

[I understand. Thank you.]

The door opened and it showed my assistant who is carrying a gift. He whispered if he can enter, I just gave him a nod.

"Who is this from?"

"I don't know, your majesty. Do you want me to-" he stopped talking when I picked it up from my table "Is there something wrong, your majesty?"

"No. I'll take care of this."

"Okay, your majesty." he bowed and left the office room

"Chaerin, are you still there?"

[Yeah.]

"Someone sent me a gift and I don't feel good about this."

[Throw it away. You don't have to open it up.]

"I still want to see." I answered and put my phone on a loud speaker as I started opening the gift

When it's the box's turn to open, my heart started beating fast for no reason. Still, I opened the box and found a recent picture of Mom and Dad while they are on their vacation. With blood written,

"Chaerin, I'll call you later."

[Felix, is there something wrong?]

"I'll tell you later." and I hurriedly ended the call

calling Dad...

No answer.

I called him a few times and there was no answer. I tried calling Mom but she is not answering as well. My heart kept racing. I can't even think straight. Hoping for them to answer my calls.

A few minutes passed and there was no answer from them. My assistant came running inside my office with his face panicking, as he handed me his phone.

"Police officers." assistant

I took it and heard the ambulance in background, people talking, screaming...

"Felix speaking." I said trying my best not let my voice shake as I answer

[Your majesty. The previous King and Queen were in a car accident.]

"T-Tell me they are fine."

[I'm sorry but they were announced dead.]
