Back together
18:50, 27 December 2025The movie Back To The Future had just ended as a crowd of people began to leave, smiles on their faces talking to their loved ones about how good it was.
Cindy had mentioned the movie to Dylan when the first trailer came out. Maybe after all of this shit is over, he can take her. A way for him to say sorry.
The mention of Cindy felt like vinegar down his throat as he had just confessed being in love with Mike. To people he cared about and not just to himself like always.
What if Cindy found out? What if Steve hated him now and was just lying? God, what would Dylan do, he regretted telling them, at first it was like all the weights on his shoulders had been taken off, only for them to be thrown back on 10x heavier.
He couldn't focus on that now. He needed to get them out of here. He needed Dustin to be back with his Mormon girlfriend reading comic books on his bed, Robin listening to her music while she drew more on her converse in the safety of her home, Erica watching My little Pony as Lucas complains, the two in their living room. Steve and him together in their hated yet safe house. Not them fearing for their lives in a damn mall surrounded by Russians. Dylan peeked out of the bathroom door, along with Steve, Robin, Erica, and Dustin.
"Blend." Dustin stated as he began quickly walking forward, everyone behind him.
Dylan kept his head down as every time someone glanced at him, they probably assumed he went back in time to go fight a war.
His skin was no longer drenched in blood, but it was still covered in fresh bruises and cuts. Plus the scars that had been with him all his life.
He felt the air conditioner that radiated around the mall circle his bare arms as goosebumps trialed down his back.
He could feel the eyes of everyone around him. It made him want to hide, run away. But he persisted in his cage as he continued to follow Dustin.
"Now we just have to get on the bus with the rest of these dweebs, and home sweet home, here we come." Dustin smiled
"Uh, Dustin?" Steve said
Dustin quickly glanced at Steve's face which was full of fear and guilt. "What?"
"Yeah we might not wanna go to your house." Steve sighed
"Why?" Dustin asked
"Well I might've told them your full name." Steve confessed
Dustin's back stiffened as his tone went hushed and ragged "What is wrong with you!"
"Dude, I was drugged." Steve shrugged Dylan had placed his hands on his face holding his cheeks despite the pain, trying to feel anything but stress. "Well Robin! Didn't give away any personal information!" Dylan said
"Dude!" Steve exasperated
Robin would smile, if she wasn't paying close attention to the people around her. In fear
"Yeah Steve! You resist. You tough it out. You tough it out like a man!" Dustin said
"Well easy for you to say!" Steve argued back.
Dylan was about to make another comment before Robin stopped them all.
"Guys?" Robin said placing her hands in front of the younger kids.
They all turned to look at what Robin was looking at. A man dressed in full black. A worker at STARCOURT mall checking the bags and people who walked by. The worst part. A Russian accent that stained every word he spoke.
"Abort." Dustin stated
The man turned his head having eye contact with Dylan. He noticed the man's eyes widening as he mouthed the nickname they had given him 'Devil'
"Abort!" Dustin repeated as they all ran backwards towards the escalator.
Steve looked and saw more men who looked like the first guy coming their way. Dylan saw how the escalators weren't working anymore. He saw how the barrier between the two escalators was basically a metal slide.
"Erica!" Dylan said as the scared girl looked at him."Go down here!" He pointed towards the slide
Erica had a look of hesitation as she glanced at the men and the slide. She ultimately chose her freedom as she took the hand Dylan gave for help and slid down. The rest soon following.
They began running as fast as they could. Dylan behind them all pacing himself to keep it that way.
They had made it to the food court as they looked around, red and blue light beaming around them creating a purple atmosphere that covered their skin.
Dylan felt energized like he had never felt before, his legs were shaking with the anticipation of running more and his eyes couldn't blink. His head began to move around taking notice of every hiding place and every door leading to the outside.
He could take these guys out, run to a door, and get them the hell out of here. He then looked over at Scoops Ahoy which still had a bright shiny label. He peered inside catching a glimpse of something. He narrowed his gaze until he saw it was a figure. A girl........but not just any girl,
It was Cindy.
"Cindy?" Dylan muttered as he could see the girl looking back at him, her face contorted.
He took a step towards her before his knees buckled, he landed on them and hard. He couldn't even make a pained face as all of his muscles tired down. His eyes grew blurry and his skin light.
The last thing he heard was Dustin's voice before everything went black.

"Okay...Dylan. What do we do? Are you gonna take them out?" Dustin asked. He got no answer as he turned to face him.
Instead of seeing the boy in his peripheral vision he had to look down on the ground, as Dylan was passed out.
"Dylan?....oh shit! Dylan!" Dustin exclaimed in a hushed voice as to not be caught by the Russians.
Steve saw Dustin run as he looked, seeing his brother on the ground, he quickly followed as he lifted Dylan head up shaking his shoulders. Checking his pulse. Trying to wake him up. "Dylan! Hey! Damn it."
"He's drained." Dustin stated
"What do we do......what do we do? What do we do!" Robin began panicking, as she around hearing the sound of the guards boots.
Dustin pointed towards the cookie stand."There! We can hide there!"
"Hide?" Erica asked
"Well WE can't fight them!" Dustin replied
Steve nodded as he lifted Dylan up, bridal style. carrying him. He ran behind the counter laying Dylan down, before he sat down himself. Dustin next to him on his left, Robin and Erica on his Right.
He positioned Dylan next to him, as he wrapped his arms around his brother.
He could hear heaving breathing next to him, as they were all riddled with fear. Especially since the boy that could easily get them out of this situation is now passed out cold in Steve's arms.
Steve grasped onto Dylan tight, he was awaiting the moment the Russians would find them, in which he could easily shield Dylan's body from bullets, keeping him safe......until they all die and the Russians find Dylan unharmed, take him back to the lab and experiment on him until he can't even recognize his own face. A tear slid down Steve's face looking at Dylan.
They could all hear the sound of the Men's boots clacking against the cold floors......hearing them inch closer and closer.
Dustin couldn't breath
Robin felt tears rest on her eyelashes
Erica looked around helplessly
And Steve closed his eyes shut.
The footsteps walked closer and closerAs if they were in rhythm with each other.
The group could taste death, until they all jumped at the sound of a blaring car. The horn was honking as the metal riddled
They then heard the sounds of the men gasping and screaming as the car began to tumble towards them crushing them instantly.
The four stood up slowly seeing the men bleeding to death on the ground and the car all crushed against another food stand.
Steve bend down again to pick Dylan up, who was still knocked out.
They all turned to the left looking up in the second floor railing. Seeing their friends Mike, Will, Lucas, Max, Jonathan, Nancy, and Eleven, who had saved them.

Dylan opened his eyes, seeing a warehouse of some sort. He took a deep breath which immediately made him sick as he turned over vomiting.
He picked himself up quickly looking around not knowing where he was. His limbs felt like if they'd been tied down with chains, and he was finally free. He could move but his muscles ached.
He looked straight ahead seeing a girl who was in-front of him her back turned away.
This was familiar to Dylan
Well not exactly, he wasn't in a warehouse, he had been in the lab. The location was different. But......not the girl.
He recognized that blond hair, that orange flowered blouse, and those straight cut jeans from anyway.
It was his mother.
But she seemed shorter..........
"Mom........?" Dylan called out, his voice raspy
He could see the figure slowly turn around, every second felt like hours. He just wanted to see her face again.
Yet he wasn't met with his mother's face....it was Cindy. Dressed exactly like his mother the day she died......the day he..killed her.
"W-what....C-Cindy?" Dylan stuttered
Her makeup was all natural and proper, not like Cindy's usual style, a thick smokey eye with burgundy lipstick.
Dylan began to truly observe her. She looked exactly like his mom.
They could be twins.
Dylan felt the urge to vomit again, as he had realized why Cindy's face stuck in his mind. Why he felt like he couldn't lose her. Why he stayed with her.
Was this some fucked up way from him to deal with trauma? Was he that pathetic? In which he let a girl come into his messed up life because she looked exactly like the women who gave birth to him and the women he killed.
He couldn't take his eyes off of her, he felt tears drip down his face. He couldn't find the right words to say.
Cindy beat him to it, as her mouth began to move, there was no sound though. It was silence
He then started to hear a frequency. It was like her voice was delayed.
"013"
"013"
"013"
He covers his ears, as he could feel the words through his brain they echoed throughout the room bouncing back like knives . His ear began to bleed in pain.
He closed his eyes tight peering down trying to stop the noise. He groaned in pain, not being able to hear his own scream, only feel the vibration in his throat.
It was then silent. Maybe she had stopped or maybe he had gone deaf. Either way he was thankful.
He slowly looked up to see Cindy was now right in front of him her nose inches away from his.
She quickly grabbed his face, her cold fingers piercing his skin. Her eyes began to roll to the back of her head as Dylan couldn't look away.
He screamed at the sight of Cindy's face melting, her once clean blouse now covered in her own flesh.
"YOU DID THIS TO ME!" She screamed her voice switching from her own to deep haunting sound.
"LOOK AT ME!" She lifted one of her fingers off his cheek quickly placing it underneath his eyes pulling the skin down. "KEEP THEM OPEN!"
"013! YOU WERE ALWAYS A MONSTER. ITS TIME YOUR REALIZED IT!" She began repeating 013 over and over again.
Dylan had flashes of his mom in his eyes, seeing that one vision of how he killed her over and over again.
He began digging his nails into his palms, almost trying to wake himself up.
Cindy then stopped. Her face reversing back to what it used to be, her makeup the same as when she would go to his window, the same as the day he met her.
"Dylan."

Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Will, Max, Jonathan, and Nancy. made it down the broken escalators meeting with their friends on the first floor.
"You flung that thing like a hot wheel!" Dustin yelled as he ran over to Mike and Eleven, hugging them.
"Lucas?" Erica said
"What are you doing here?" Lucas asked, his face scrunched up in annoyance.
"Ask them it's their fault." Erica replied pointing at Robin and Dustin
"Totally, 100% our fault." Dustin replied as Robin nodded.
"I don't understand what happened to that car?" Robin asked looking at Dustin. "Dylan's........?"
"Oh! El had superpowers!" Dustin answered
"Two?!" Robin yelled
"Yeah, they came from the same place! They're like super siblings....not blood but like— maybe soul, heart?" Dustin rambled
Mikes ears had perked up, at the mention of Dylan"Dylan? He's here? With you guys?"
Steve had made it around the corner catching up with the group, their eyes all on him. He had a guilty expression, as he set Dylan down on a bench gently.
Max gasped at the sight of Dylan, as the rest of the group were equally in shock. Even the ones who were with him the whole time. Before he was just beaten up but now his skin grew pale and his ears began to bleed.
Eleven teared up at the sight of her brother, reaching out for him before staggering in pain from her leg.
"He just go w-worst. Really quick.....I took my eyes off of him a second and...." Steve stuttered. He walked over to the group as Robin put a supporting hand on his shoulder.
"What happened?" Mike asked his face morphed into fear. The last conversation he had with Dylan was hurtful, the words that came out of his own mouth made him want to rip his own tongue out. Dylan can't die. Not today. Micheal couldn't take it. His heart ached.
"The Russians, I told you about it!" Dustin said showing his super comm
An argument broke out as Dustin realized the battery was low and they heard nothing. The group began to argue together all of them were afraid, and confused.
Mike separated from El and quickly walked over to Dylan, who laid still on the metal bench. Dylan's left hand touched the ground as it hung. Mike reached for it. He slightly touched Dylan's fingers. Dylan's warm hands were now cold. Mike grabbed them anyway, squeezing tight, hoping Dylan would reciprocate. But to no avail, Dylan stayed motionless.
Micheal begged in his head for Dylan not to leave, to fight. He looked at the boy, seeing his bruises and cuts made his eyes well up. "Oh, god.........I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry." He cried, Mike cupped Dylan's face gently with his left hand, holding Dylan's hand in his right. Keeping him close.
Mike didn't understand why he felt so devastated and guilty for Dylan's condition, it was a feeling that made him want to throw up, and cry. He had never felt it before. This was new, and he hated it.
A thud slightly echoed through the mall as they all turned to find Eleven who was on the floor. Her face red, as she groaned in pain.
Micheal looked at Dylan, gripping his hand once more, placing it on his breathing chest before running to Eleven. "El! El! What's wrong! El!"
"My leg.....my leg." She whimpered
Jonathan and Nancy gently took the bloody bandages off, her skin was a deep purple as the wound was almost moving like a heartbeat. They all exclaimed in disgust
Something began writhing underneath her skin, as she began wailing in more pain.
"El! El! Are you okay? El EL!" Mike yelled as eleven wouldn't answer him
She screamed bloody murder as tears streamed down her face. Her whole leg felt like it was on fire. Gasoline fueling the fire every time her wound moved.
"What is that?" Erica asked as she looked down at Elevens leg.
"There's something in there!" Mike exclaimed
"No!" Eleven moaned
"Jesus Christ!" Dustin said
"Keep her talking! Keep her awake!" Jonathan said a he ran to a food stand.
"Hey, hey! Let's stay awake!" Mike gently told Eleven "Let's get her on this side." Mike instructed as he lifted Elevens head up Dustin to his aid.
Steve quickly helped as he lifted Elevens leg gently with Nancy moving her to the side.
"It's..uh. It's actually not that bad! I had a goalie on my soccer team, Beth Wildfire, this other girl slid into her leg, and the whole bone came out of her knee, six inches or something." Robin nervously rambled
"Robin." Steve said
"Yea?" She replied
"You're not helping." Steve said
"I'm sorry." She quickly answers biting at her nails.
Jonathan came running back with gloves on and a hot knife. He sat by Elevens wounded leg.
"Okay........all right, El?" Jonathan said "this is gonna hurt like hell, okay?
"Okay." Eleven responded as she cried
"I need you to stay real still." He instructed the girl "You're gonna want to bite down on this, here." He handed her a wooden spoon to bite.
Jonathan hesitated as he placed the knife inches above her skin, he looked at everyone who either had a face of shock, fear, or disgust. Sweat dripped down his forehead as cool air flew down his back.
He sliced the knife through her skin as he trailed down smoothly, blood gushing out, like a thick red paint. Eleven screams were murmured by the wooden spoon but still heard as Jonathan became dizzy.
Jonathan set the knife down when he was satisfied with the size of the cut, he then fiddled with his fingers nervously before sticking two of them into Elevens wound.
The group exclaimed in disgust as Jonathan began to glide his fingers deeper into her leg, blood surrounding his plastic glove. Eleven felt the glove touch her flesh as she wailed and sobbed in pain.
"Stop....STOP!" She screamed as Jonathan took his fingers out looking at her. Her lips trembled "D-D...Dylan.." she muttered
Mike heard the girl call for Dylan and glanced over at the bench he was laying at, except he wasn't there.

Dylan gasped as he shot awake. He heard the sound of screaming behind him. He stood up fast his head shook and his ears rang but he didn't care, he slightly staggered over to another bench holding himself guard.
He touched the side of his neck and ear feeling blood that had trialed down. How real was that vision? Every time his head pounded he could feel an Advil he could take if he was able too.
He look at his palms seeing the inside all scratched up and bloody from his own nails digging into them.
His scars were aching. His legs shook. His ears rang.
He looked ahead to see Dustin, Steve, Mike.......Mike was here, and so was Nancy, and Jonathan, and Lucas, and Max, and Will, and Eleven! Then Dylan realized where the screams were coming from.
_________________________________
"STOP!" She screamed at Jonathan who had backed up. "D-D....Dylan." She muttered
Dylan walked up quietly behind Steve, who had glanced up at him slightly screaming in shock "Dylan! You're awake!"
Dylan ignored Steve as he slightly pushed him away along with Nancy and Jonathan. He looked down at Elevens leg seeing something move.
"Okay....I need you guys to give her some space." Dylan said his face morphed with concern.
Mike and Dustin looked at him in confusion and shock. Not moving as they could barely process what he was saying
"Move! Right now!" Dylan yelled as they got the hint, backing away. Mike and Dustin massaged their fingers in pain from her grip.
Eleven grabbed at Dylan's hand with both hers squeezing it tight. His bloody palm spreading to her own. "I'm here. It's okay."
"Thank you..." she said, as she felt less cramped up. "Please..I need you to help me." Eleven said as she looked at him
It hurt Dylan to see her in such pain, he nodded before looking at her leg. He didn't know exactly what was in it, but whatever it was it was evil....he could feel it in his bones. Reaching his hand out, a low frequency erupted as her leg began to twitch.
She started to scream and squeeze Dylan's hand harder. He jerked his hand up getting the creature out, to see almost a ball of flesh moving around. Like a slug. He threw it as hard as he could across the floor, getting it around 30 feet away.
The creature started to glide across the floor in an attempt to escape, before it was crushed. Dylan looked up to see Hopper who was wearing a bright shirt, a random man on his right and Joyce on his left.
"Hell yea." Dustin smiled seeing the three.
The group wiped away their sweat and took some deep breaths.
Eleven, took in shaky breaths in relieve still feeling pain but not as bad as before. She slightly sat up hugging Dylan quickly
"I'm sorry...I'm so sorry." Dylan muttered as he hugged her back.
She shook her head against his shoulder telling him she wasn't upset. She was thankful.
They were back together.
