Tw: car crash, doctor, mentions of blood

Josh woke a few hours later to the pounding of wind and rain against the window.

Tyler was still asleep, breathing light and shallow.

He carefully untangled himself from the bed sheets, stretching and feeling every bone in his spine pop, sighing in relief.

He had slept in a really bad position, making sure Tyler was comfortable in his arms the whole night.

Remembering last night, he carefully padded his way to the bathroom and shut the door with a small snap.

He stared at himself in the mirror.

His eyes were sunken and dark, face slightly pale and hair sticking out in different places.

He gave himself a sad, small smile and shook his head lightly before splashing his face with cold water.

Josh planned on taking him to the hospital, after what happened last night he didn't want to take chances.

He smoothed his hair as best he could and carefully walked back to Tyler's room.

Carefully, he shook Tyler awake. "Tyler... Tyler wake up, I'm going to take you to the hospital..."

Tyler groaned softly and his eyes slid open slightly. He whined. "Do I have to...?"

"Yes, you have to. Come on." Josh said while wrapping the blanket around him and picking him up.

Tyler pressed his face into Josh's shirt, closing his eyes and taking in his familiar scent. He chuckled softly.

Josh looked down at him. "Tyler!"

Tyler's shoulders shook from laughter. "I wanted you to carry me." He said softly.

Josh rolled his eyes. He started walking out of the room, pretending to trip and "drop" Tyler.

Tyler's eyes flew open as he gasped, gripping on to the front of Josh's shirt. "Don't do that," He said as he lightly pounded a fist to his chest. "You scared me!"

"My point exactly." He grinned and carefully carried him down the stairs and to the car.

He set Tyler down by the front door, drawing the blanket tighter around his shoulders and grabbing an umbrella. He unlocked the front door and helped Tyler to the passenger side of the car.

He slid into his seat, putting on his seat belt and turning the car into gear. He slowly backed out of the driveway, seeing how bad the rain was.

He turned on the windshield wipers, anxiety taking over his breathing.

Tyler felt the sudden change in mood and looked over at him. "Relax," he smiled slightly. "Just a bit of rain."

Josh nodded, gripping the steering wheel tightly and concentrating straight ahead. "A 'bit', right." He put the car in gear and started the way to the hospital.

They turned on some music, relaxing Josh and making Tyler smile. Eventually they both started singing along, loud and happy.

The rain poured harder, but Josh was okay, he was with Tyler and the music was helping. It was hard to see, but everyone was taking it slow and it was going to be alright. There wasn't much farther until they got to the hospital. . .

Josh carefully got into a parking space and unbuckled. He got out and quickly opened the umbrella, walking to Tyler's side.

"I'm in socks," Tyler said, staring down at his feet. "I can't walk without getting them wet." He looked up at Josh through his eye lashes.

Josh huffed and rolled his eyes, handing Tyler the umbrella. "Little girl." He said under his breath.

"What?" Tyler said, snapping his head up at Josh.

"Nothing." He picked him up and carried him, Tyler holding the umbrella for them. . .

He was admitted and physically checked, weight and height. Eventually he was brought to a room and laid on the bed, waiting for the doctor to come in and check him out.

Josh took a seat beside his bed. "Okay?"

"Okay." Tyler said, turning his head to look at him.

They sat in silence, Tyler's hand in Josh's. Eventually a doctor came in.

Tyler told the doctor what was up, and Josh helped with the details of what happened last night, and what prescriptions he was taking.

"We are going to have to do some tests," the doctor said. "While I do them I need you to be perfectly still, alright?"

Tyler nodded.

After being pricked and poked for a while, the doctor finished and left the room.

Tyler laid on the bed, face pale, eyes closed and face turned to the ceiling.

"Alright?" Josh asked.

Tyler nodded slowly, bending his thumb which had been pricked a few times and flicking his eyes to where his arm was bandaged, which had been poked too.

The doctor came back in a while later, the results having been received. "The prescriptions you've been taking aren't the correct strength. All that was happening was the sickness being slowed. You've filled in an order already for stronger ones, it should be ready in a while. As for everything else, it's fine. Your weight is a concern though."

After a bit of talking, Tyler was released and they were out to the car and on their way home.

The rain hadn't let up, but Josh was a little more calm this time.

They were on to singing their second song, Josh had stopped to listen to Tyler who even though, was super sick, still sounded great.

Tyler smiled at Josh, who in turn looked at him out of the corner of his eye and smiled.

They were at a stoplight, Josh looking at Tyler for a second when there was a bright light, loud honk, and tires squealing on the pavement.

Everything was slow motion.

"Josh!" Tyler screamed, grabbing the steering wheel. The car didn't budge, the brake was on.

That's when the impact happened.

The other car came head on.

Both the boys were jerked backward, thrown forward.

Josh was out immediately.

Glass was everywhere, smoke filling the air making it harder to see.

Red. Everything was red.

"JOSH," Tyler screamed, unable to move because his seatbelt and dashboard pinned him to the seat. "Josh! Wake up..."

Everything became fuzzy. Everything was black.
