021
19:11, 16 January 2022Rin had avoided contact with you as much as possible the following morning, up until he had to leave for practice. It was better than his original plan, which was to fire you - but with how attached the kids were, he just couldn't do that to them so suddenly.
He did his best to stay out of your way, minimal words exchanged as you handed him his breakfast to go, stopping only to kiss his kids goodbye and wish them a good day at school.
No matter how hard you tried to not let it effect you, it wasn't so easily brushed off. You found yourself feeling sick, the dreadful feeling of embarrassment and rejection making it's home in the pit of your stomach. If only to make matters worse, tonight was the night of your so called 'family meeting.'
You had no idea what kind of scheme your father was planning, but you knew it must be something major for him to have someone track your whereabouts so that he could personally deliver this unwarranted invitation.
You'd pondered about what he said - that you may bring a guest, if you wished. A big part of you thought it best to just go alone. No one knew much about your family, except Kiyoko. You hid them as much as possible, even from Yuji. It was simply just a part of your life that you kept locked away.
Truth be told, you were scared. You didn't want to face them alone - you couldn't.
So, you picked up your phone and texted the only person you could bring in this situation. Atleast, the only one that would've made sense for this particular situation. You only hoped he would be able to attend in such short notice, or else you'd have to stomach it on your own
You waited impatiently for him to respond. You wouldn't blame him if he couldn't make it, but gods you hoped that he could. You definitely needed someone in your corner for this.
After a few moments, another text popped up.
You breathed out a sigh of relief, thankful that you would have a friend with you during this uncomfortable encounter. You haven't been back home in over a year - this was about to be the most stressful night of your life, but having Atsumu's company would certainly take the edge off a bit.
Atleast, you hoped it would.
With Atsumu's confirmation, everything seemed to fall in place. Now, you just needed to let Suna know and hope he would grant you some time away for a couple of hours, which meant that you would actually need to talk to him- that was clearly much easier said than done.
Rin arrived home shortly after you had picked up the kids from school. You spoke a few words to him, asking him how practice went to try and break the ice - of course, that went about as well as you expected it to. He muttered out 'fine' and went on his way after greeting his children on the way up to his room.
"Daddy seems grumpy today." Reiko pouted, hoping her father would have paid a little more attention to the drawing she was trying to show him when he walked through the door. "I wanted him to look at the picture I drew."
"Can I see it?" You asked enthusiastically, trying to make up for Suna's lack-there-of.
She holds it out, a soft blush flushes across her cheeks as your eyes meet an array of bright colors on stark white paper - four perfectly placed stick figures decorated to be easily recognizable.
The tall figure with spiked brown hair and lumpy muscles was definitely meant to be Rintarou.
The little boy next to him was unmistakably her brother, and beside him was a beautiful self portrait of Reiko herself decked out in princess attire, crown and all.
The final figure, placed right next to Reiko as they held stick-hands together, was a familiar looking woman with (e/c) eyes and (h/c) hair.
"Is this me?" You ask, hardly able to contain the wide smile that had formed on your lips. She shook her head in reassurance, her big grayish-yellow eyes shining in adoration for you.
The warmth spreading through your body was almost overwhelming - Reiko had included you in her family portrait. If there was ever a moment for your heart to soar out of your chest, it was now, realizing just how much you really meant to the little Suna's made every fleeting thought of self-doubt escape you.
"This is so lovely, Reiko. You've made me so happy." You can't help but wrap your arms around her petite form and squeeze her tightly. Truthfully, you didn't want to let go, but unfortunately you still had other business to take care of.
After fixing the kids a snack and sending them off to play, you made your way towards Suna's door for the second time within the last twenty-four hours.
You didn't have much time left, only two and a half hours to spare until Atsumu showed up to deliver you to your fated doom. Maybe you were being a tad dramatic, but nonetheless, you knew nothing good would come from this meeting - if, you could even attend at all.
Part of you was hoping that Rin would say no, that you couldn't go because he needed you here to do your nanny duties - but you knew he wouldn't do that. If anything, he probably would be ecstatic to be rid of you for a few more hours.
With baited breath, you stood in-front of the sleek, dark wooded frame and gently tapped your knuckles to it's core.
No answer.
You tapped again, a bit more harshly this time.
Still, silence.
You huffed, his immaturity starting to frustrate you even further - you decided to just talk to him through the door, since you knew he was in there listening to you stand out there, knocking like a fool.
"Suna, I was invited to dinner at my parent's tonight, I need to know if you mind me taking off for a couple of hours?" You waited a few moments for him to respond, continuing after an uncomfortably long pause of silence.
"Atsumu's coming to pick me up at six-thirty, I need to know the answer quickly, please."
You hear a muted shuffle come from the other side of the door, followed by a click and a turn of the handle. Suna appears from behind the door, a sour look in his face as he scanned you up and down.
"Atsumu? Why's he picking you up?" He asks coldly, a flicker of dissatisfaction in his sullen eyes.
"He's coming with me, remember I told you that my mother thinks we're in a relationship? They told me to bring a guest, so I thought I should bring him along." You respond as you carefully study his stand-offish body language.
"I just need to know if I can take off for the night, I'll be back as soon as it's over. I know it's short notice but I was just informed yesterday... I would've asked earlier but you've been avoid- "
"Go ahead, s'fine with me." He cuts you off abruptly as soon as you start to mention the situation from the other night. "Have fun with Tsumu."
With that, a slam of the door, disappearing into the abyss of his lonely, silk sheets.
~
Two hours had passed before you knew it. You put the finishing touches on your attire with only thirty minuets to spare. With one more glance in the bathroom mirror, you studied your glowing (s/c) skin - shoulders laid bare on display underneath your elegant dress that hugged your curves deliciously.
Dinner with your family wasn't just a normal, quiet meal at home. It was more of a formal affair, vip exclusive, dress to impress. You loathed the entire idea, but abiding was better than having everyone berate you all night long.
Still, there was no harm in showing them that you're doing fine without them. You looked damn good, and you were prepared to defend your honor while looking absolutely extravagant. Satisfied with your appearance, you head down the stairs to wait for Atsumu to show up.
Reiko is the first to notice you, her eyes glued to your ethereal presence as you cascade into the living room where the three Suna's were huddled on the couch watching tv.
"Y/n, you looks so pretty! Like a beautiful princess!" She beams excitedly, rushing over to you to exam the fabric of your dress.
"Thank you." You smile warmly, patting her head softly as you run your fingers along her braided ponytail.
You glance over at the Suna boys who stare at you with a guffawed expression, both sporting flushed cheeks as they admire your beauty. Reiki quickly averts his attention back over to the tv once you catch him, but Rin's eyes remain glued to your form as he takes in the sight before him.
Suddenly, the doorbell rings - You swiftly open the door to find Atsumu grinning his million dollar smile, bearing his pearly whites.
He's dressed sharply in an all black, fitted suit- his dress shirt void of its top buttons, displaying a hint of his toned chest. His broad shoulders are covered by an expensive blazer, while smooth slacks cling to his muscular thighs.
You had to admit, he looked quite handsome.
"You clean up nice, Miya." You taunt, toying with the lapel of his jacket.
"You look stunning, as always." He smirks, letting his fingers brush against the skin of your exposed lower back, just slightly teasing underneath the dip of your dress.
The whole exchange makes Suna's skin crawl as he maintains his glare, practically burning a hole through the back of your pretty head - jealousy running rampant as he watched Atsumu drink you in.
He hated feeling like this.
This is exactly why he he tried so hard to not catch feeling for you - finishing old wounds resurfacing as he remembered the heartbreak he felt when he found out about his wife's infidelity.
This situation was much different, obviously. He wasn't upset with you or Atsumu. After all, he was the one who pushed you away - he was mad at himself.
Pesky emotions clouding his mind as he fell deeper, despite his resistance for emotional connection- he only sought after sexual healing, though seeing the way you loved his kids and how you cared for him, how you accepted his playful teasing and even matched his energy most of the time... you were everything he wanted in a partner.
Especially after he tasted your lips, the saccharine flavor still present in his mind as he remembers how they felt against his -
How unfortunate that he can only stand idly by as he watches you walk out the door with his best-friend, with no one's fault except his own.
He's broken, damaged well within the wake of his own insecurities. The fear of losing someone he cares for still so prominent within himself, that he does what he knows best - he recluses.
As he sits on the couch with his children, he finds himself wondering what you may be doing now. Are you laughing at Atsumu's terrible jokes? Feeding into his flirtatious antics, melting underneath the touch of his calloused hands on your thigh as he drives you to your destination?
Little does he know, this night will prove to be one of the worst you've ever experienced.
