Chapter Four

15:07, 4 August 2017

(6 MONTHS LATER)

Aria's POV'Come on Doug, we are going to miss our train if you take any longer!' I called up the stairs to my brother. 'Alright, alright i'm coming Aria. Keep your hair on!' I heard him yell back.

Today was our 23rd birthday and we were off to go and see my favourite band, 5 Seconds of Summer live in London at The Roundhouse. When I say my favourite band, I mean other then my brothers band McFly. Yes that's right my brother is the bassist of popular four piece McFly.

Swiftly moving on, Dougie had managed to get me tickets 5SOS concert tonight, Sunday 30th November, and had given them to me as my birthday present. He told me that last week he was writing with them and they had offered them to him. I felt bad because all I had got him was a blink 182 t-shirt and some cool picks for his bass. I suppose it's the thought that counts right? I was so proud of him he was out living his dream, where as I was stuck working in a recording studio up the road from our flat in London. Pay isn't great but everyone has to start somewhere I suppose. It might sound like i'm jealous... I'm not, I mean not completely. I never wanted the fame or the fortune. All I want to do is sing and write, that's the only thing I want to do in life. That's how I ended up working in a recording studio, even as a receptionist. It's all experience I guess. I often attempted to help some of the artist that come into the studio with writers block too. Admittedly they do just tend to ignore me but I try.

I suddenly heard footsteps coming down the stairs and then Dougie appeared. He was wearing the new t-shirt I had brought him, he seemed to be pleased with it and that is all that mattered to me.

Dougie's POV'Come on then sis, we're gonna be late' I winked at Aria and rushed to the door. She followed with the biggest smile on her face. I haven't seen her this happy in a long time. She was so excited to be going to see 5SOS she could hardily contain herself. She's had quite a difficult year and a half, and before that wasn't great either that goes for both of us. She was in a bad relationship and went through a bad break up. Her ex is bad news and was an alcoholic, not long after their relationship ended he took his own life after realising the amount of pain he had caused. Aria blamed herself. It was the thing that pushed her off the edge and sent her to rehab. It wasn't until about a month ago she started to get into the dating scene again, she finally seems to be coming out the otherside of everything she has been through. It hasn't been an easy ride for either of us.

We arrived at the tubestation within 10 minutes, we only had to wait 5 minutes for the tube we needed to catch before it arrived. Once off the tube it was a 15 minute walk to The Roundhouse. When we got to the venue there were already people lining up so we went and found the back of the queue. We ended up lingering by what I remember being the back entrance from when I had played there with the other McFly boys. I was a little worried that people would recognise me, I did get a few excited looks but thankfully everyone seem to leave us be. About 15 minutes before the doors of the venue were due to open, the back entrance we stood by opened.

Aria's POVI heard the screech of the door we were stood by open and turned to see what was going on. It had only opened a jar, however I could see movement. I caught what seemed to be a whisp of dark hair walk pass the door. I thought it kind of looked like Calum but I quickly dismissed the thought as they were due on stage soon. Just then the door swung open more to indeed reveal Calum Hood bassist of 5 Seconds of Summer who had come to see the fans accompanied by security. My mouth fell open in complete shock. I knew we had backstage passes but I was going to give myself time in the concert to prepare. Dougie had told me to stay cool before we left, but I idolised these people especially the drummer Ashton Irwin. I also had a slight crush on him which Dougie teased me about. Calum had spotted Dougie and was heading straight for us.

Dougie's POVI saw Calum appear, he waved at the fans in acknowledgement and thanks. He spotted me and came over, I smiled and turned to look at Aria. She had noticed that Calum was on his way over and she had the look of a cod fish with her mouth wide open.

'Aria, please don't do this. Stay cool okay' I told her. She took a deep breath in an attempt to compose herself but she was clearly still a little overwhelmed by what was happening.

'Hiya mate, how are you?' Calum greeted cheerily, holding out his hand for me to shake. I did so and replied

'Yeah not too bad mate. How are you? Excited for the show tonight?'

'Yeah I'm good. Always, I can't wait best part of the job. Glad you could make it mate' Calum continued. I looked to Aria who was now looking a lot calmer

'Wouldn't miss it, plus it's our birthday today so as my sister here is a big fan I thought this would also be a great gift.' I explained to Calum as I watched Aria turn a slight shade of pink.

'Haha awesome. Hi, I'm Calum it's nice to meet you. Happy Birthday to you both!' Calum directed towards Aria.

'Actually Dougie mentioned it was your birthday and that you were a big fan when I saw him last week. I came prepared as I promised Doug, here you go.' He said as he handed her two backstage passes.

Aria's POVI just stood there trying to act calm while taking in the image in front of me. Luckily I managed to find the words to reply to him

'Hi, Oh my goodness thank you so much, it's really nice to meet you too. I'm Aria. I'm really excited to see you guys perform tonight and to come backstage afterwards. Doug said he'd got passes' I smiled.

'You're very welcome, so is this your first time coming to one of our shows' Calum asked with a slight chuckle.

'No our older sister Terri brought me to one about 2 and a half years ago, this is my second. But if the first one is anything to go by it will be even more amazing' I explained.

'Oh okay, haha thanks. I hope we have improved since the last time. Calum laughed.

Suddenly the door Calum had come out of opened again and he turned around to see who it was. Again complete shock took over my body as a tall, but slightly shorter then Calum, curly haired figure appeared. It was like I had been glued to the spot. Dougie, who was still looking at me waiting for me to continue the conversation with Calum, could tell by my face exactly who had walked out of that door. He tugged on my arm to pull me close and whispered in my ear, so Calum couldn't hear not that he'd be able to over the screams.

'Okay stay calm. You really don't want to make yourself look silly in front of him'. I took another deep breath still watching the figure as he looked around the crowd saw Calum and came over.

'Hey mate, we've got 4 minutes and then we gotta swap with Mike and Luke.' he explained to Calum.

'Alright mate thanks, what took you so long to come out Ash?' Calum asked.

'I was talking to Derek about my drum set' Ashton replied.

'Hiya Dougie mate, Cal said you might be coming tonight. How are...' he continued before he caught my eyes and stopped mid sentence. He stood directly in front of me just starring. Ashton Irwin drummer of my favourite band 5 Seconds of a Summer, the man who I idolised not only for his singing, which is so underrated, and instrumental abilities, but his song writing abilities too. This man I was in complete awe of was starring at me.

Ashton's POVI don't think i've ever felt like this not even with..... her. This figure stood in front of me was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, although looking into her eyes I could see a pain of some sort buried under her mask of beauty. She was quite short and had auburn coloured hair and bright blue eyes.

'Ash, are you okay?' Calum asked, knocking me out of my trance like state.

'Yeah i'm fine mate, sorry. Hi, i'm Ashton' I said holding my hand out not once taking my eyes off the stunning sight infront of me. I noticed that she too had her eyes locked on to mine and had not once taken her eyes away. I felt this pang of guilt suddenly hit me. I'm not sure where it came from or why I was feeling guilty, but it soon went away when she spoke.

'Hello I'm Aria, I'm a big fan of... everything you do. That came out slightly wrong. What I meant to say is that you are an incredible drummer and I don't even know where to start with your singing' she replied looking slightly embarrassed, taking my hand I laid a kiss on hers still not looking away.

'Wow what a beautiful name to go with such a beautiful face. That is really sweet of you thanks. I hope that is a good thing about the singing though.' I joked, the kiss and complement gaining a blush from Aria.

'Thanks, yes of course. What I meant to say is you are an incredible singer and I really wish we heard more of it. You're lyrics too, one day I wish to write as well as you do.' she chuckled shyly.

'Oh wow thanks. You write?' I question intrigued.

'Nowhere near as good as you, but I try.' she laughed.

'Well maybe one day you could show me. You looking forward to the show?' I ask.

'Absolutely!' she replied looking excited.

'I expect to see you front row, singing along with all the lyrics' I teased.

'I'm not sure about front row i'll try my best but I will definitely be singing along at the top of my lungs' she replied, glancing at the row in front of her.

Suddenly me and Calum were called back in so Michael and Luke could then come out and interact with the crowd before the show. I said goodbye to Aria and was pulled away from her before I could ask her for her twitter name or even her phone number. I turned around before entering the door and saw that she was still looking, I smiled to her and to myself hoping I would somehow see her again.
