Chapter 17
06:33, 21 September 2013SHANNON'S P.O.V.
I woke up. I was still in Cody's arms. We must've fallen asleep out here. I looked to see if Meredith and Alli were out here still. They were both gone, so they must've went up to their room.
I lay my head back down on Cody's chest. My head rose and fell with his breathing. I closed my eyes and drifted off again.

I woke up again. I looked up at Cody. He was awake.
"Hey," He said.
I stared into his beautiful eyes. He made me swoon. "Good morning."
He kissed my forehead.
It looked cloudy out today, and was getting darker. I felt a raindrop. "Is it raining?" I asked Cody.
He looked up at the sky. I felt more raindrops. "Yeah, let's go inside."
It suddenly started to torrential downpour.
Cody ran his fingers through his hair. In one swift movement we got up and ran to shelter. We stood underneath the bit of roof overhanging over the closest door to get in the house. Cody tried opening the door. It wouldn't budge. It was locked.
"Who locked us out?" I asked Cody.
"Meredith and Alli probably," He said.
"Is there another way in?" I turned to face him.
"Oh, the garage code," He said. "but before we go in." He stepped closer to me and grabbed my waist. I put my arms on his shoulders. He kissed me, sweet and gentle. He grabbed my hand and lead me to the garage. He typed in the numbers for the code. We were now soaked from head to toe.
He was looking for something in the garage. "Here's a towel."
"Thanks," I said.
He teased his hair with the towel.
"You look like a lion," I laughed. I came closer to him and ran my fingers through his hair to fix it.
"Oh, you think that's funny?" He laughed and grabbed my sides. He started tickling me.
"Stop! I'm very ticklish!" I said between gasps.
Someone opened the door that connected the garage and the house.
"What are you guys doing? It sounds like someone's being raped," It was Meredith. "Oh, and one more question. Why are you guys wet?"
Cody and I stopped. We stood up straight and told her what had happened.
Meredith smirked. "Ahh, young love."
I bit my lip and looked at the ground. Cody grabbed my hand and led us inside.
Tommy was up now, too. "Hey, Cody. Hey, Shannon. Did you like take a shower in the rain or something?"
I couldn't help but laugh at that. Cody laughed, too. "Nah, Tommy. We fell asleep outside." Cody responded.
We both walked upstairs.
I stopped at Alli's room. "Wait, Alli's sleeping and my stuff is in there."
"So? You can wake her up. I don't mind," He jokingly said.
I gave him a you-aren't-funny sort of look.
"Just kidding," He said. He took my hand and we went into his room. His room was pretty chill, and by that I mean he's exactly like his music. It was white, like all the other rooms in his house. He had his surfboard, pictures of waves, and surfers hanging on the walls. He had some fan mail thoughout his room, too. Oh, and of course the Miranda Kerr cutout in one of the corners of his room.
He tossed me a white polo shirt and gray basketball shorts. "Here, put these on."
I went to the bathroom to change. I looked in the mirror. My hair was still slightly wet, but I was surprised it didn't look too bad. I put on his clothes. They were a little big on me.
I walked back into his room. He was still changing his shirt. His back was so muscular. Damn, why can't Jeff be my personal trainer?
Cody turned around. "A little big on you," He laughed.
"Just a little," I looked down at my clothes. His clothes smelt of him.
"Come on." He walked over to me, grabbed my hand, and we went downstairs.
"Aww, now you're sharing clothes?" Meredith said as we walked into the kitchen.
I blushed. "Only because my clothes are in Alli's room."
"I'm hungry. Let's make pancakes," Meredith said. Pancakes were one of her favorites.
"Yeah! I'll go get the stuff to make them!" Tommy happily said.
We all went into the kitchen. Tom was searching through the cabinets to find the ingredients to make the pancakes.
Just as we were cooking the first pancake, Alli walked into the kitchen.
"Hey, look, it's Princess Alli," Cody jokingly said.
Alli rolled her eyes. "Wait, are you guys making pancakes? Ooo, let me!"
She grabbed the spatula and flipped the pancake with ease. "Oh, and it's Chef Alli." She added with a smirk.
Alli made really good pancakes. After we finished eating, Angie came downstairs.
"Pancakes?" She questioned. "You better have left some for me."
I looked outside and zoned out while everyone talked. The rain had slowed down to a slight drizzle, a couple of drops here and there.
Cody spoke, "If the sun comes out, I'll take you to the beach."
"Sounds great," I told Cody.
"Wait, let me guess," Cody said. "Judging by the lack of oceans in Iowa, you've rarely been to the ocean."
I smiled and nodded. "Dead on."
"Good, we'll have some fun then," Cody smirked.
Once I have to go back to Iowa, what will happen between Cody and I? How is this going to work? I'll miss being with him. What have I gotten myself into?

It had cleared up outside by the afternoon and the sun shined.
Meredith, Alli, and I were in Alli's room. Cody had to do something work related.
"Okay, spill it," Alli said immediately as we walked into her room.
"Spill what?" I asked.
"You know. What happened between you and Cody last night?" Alli closed the bedroom door and sat down on the bed.
"And this morning," Meredith added.
"Ooo, this morning?" Alli asked.
I blushed. "You don't needa know."
"Yes, I do. I'm dyin' here!" Meredith screamed, melting to the floor.
"Please, please, please, pleeeaassee?" Alli begged me.
"No," I told them.
"Come on, whatever happened, we'll support you guys one hundred percent," Alli assured me.
"Yeah, I mean you're wearing his clothes for god sake. Something happened. You can't just not tell us, not tell me, your bestest friend ever," Meredith said sitting on the bed next to Alli.
I thought about it. "I fell asleep on Cody's lap, it rained, we got locked out and went through the garage, I didn't want to wake Alli by getting my clothes, so Cody gave me some of his."
"Seriously? In detail," Alli said.
"And there is more to the story, because I saw you and Cody in the garage," Meredith added.
There's no way out of this. I told them. "Okay, so it was raining and we had to get out of it, but the door was locked. We decided to go through to the garage, but before we did Cody kissed me." At the last three words Alli and Meredith went crazy. "And in the garage, Cody got me a towel and decided he would tickle me. Then Meredith walked in. We went upstairs and he gave me clothes," I finished the story. "That's it."
"Why did I have to walk in on you guys?" Meredith whined. "It could've been so perfect!"
I blushed.
"Do you like like Cody?" Alli asked doing quotation marks with her fingers when she said the words 'like like'.
I thought of a response. "It wouldn't work out. We're just going to have to be friends," I explained to Alli.
"Well, I'll tell you what I told Cody, if you're friends, you're friends. If he's your boyfriend, he's your boyfriend."
"Wait, what?" I asked. "'I'll tell you what I told Cody'?" I quoted her.
We were interrupted by a knock on the door.
I opened it. It was Cody.
"Hey, what's up?" Cody leaned in the doorway.
"Just talking," I said.
"Would you like to go surfing now?" He asked.
"Yeah, that'd be great!" I told him.
"Are you guys gonna invite us or?" Meredith asked.
"Oh, well yeah, of course," Cody quickly spoke.
"Okay, out," I gently pushed him backward, putting my hands on his chest. "We gotta get ready."
He smiled at me.
I gave a faint smile back and closed the door.
~•~•~•~
Brad offered to drive us down to the beach. He dropped us off and told us to call when we were ready to leave.
Cody grabbed his surfboard.
We picked a spot on the beach that was fairly empty, so Cody and Alli wouldn't be noticed by fans.
"Ready?" Cody asked me.
I nodded. I took off the clothes over my bikini.
We walked to where the water ran thinly over the sand. The water ran over my feet. It was cold, but not unbearable.
Cody walked right in the ocean. I was cautious.
"What's wrong?" Cody said.
"I'm, uh, scared of things in the ocean," I explained. It sounded wimpy and strange, but it was the truth. I have a phobia of things in water.
Cody got out of the water and grabbed my hand. "Come on, it'll be okay."
I trusted him. We walked into the water. I looked to see where Alli and Meredith were. They were about 20 feet to the right of us in the ocean. We were waist deep in the water.
"Ya good?" Cody asked.
I nodded. I felt safe with him.
"Good," Cody smiled.
I smirked. I splashed water at him.
He was caught by surprise. "What was that for?" He splashed me back.
The water was freezing when it first made contact with my face. I let out a shriek. I splashed him back.
We kept at it until it didn't phase us anymore, because we were soaked. Cody suddenly grabbed me by my waist and pulled me under the water with him. The water cascaded around us. I turned around in his arms to face him. We drifted back up to the surface. Cody shook his head and ran his fingers through his hair. I put my arms on his shoulders. A wave drifted by us. I stood there just looking into his eyes.
He picked me up, my legs wrapped around his waist. He walked deeper in the water.
"You're gonna scare me," I told him.
"Shh," He whisphered to me. "You'll be okay."
He let out a scream. I panicked.
He started laughing.
"Stop it, you jerk!" I yelled at him. I got away from him and swam toward shore.
"Wait, I was only kidding," He said as a wave drifted past us.
I swam to where the water reached my waist again, and walked the rest of the way to the dry sand.
Cody ran up behind me and wrap his arms around my waist. "I'm sorry," He whisphered in my ear.
"I know," I replied.
I broke free of Cody's arms and sat down on my towel.
"Is it alright if I go surfing?" Cody asked.
"No, it's not," I sarcastically responded.
He gave a slight laugh and grabbed his surfboard. He ran into the water.
Meredith and Alli came over and sat down next to me.
"Ahh, I love the ocean," Meredith sighed. "Can I like permanently live with you guys?" Meredith jokingly asked Alli.
"I would love it!" Alli laughed.
I watched Cody surfing. He was good at it. He made it look easy.
He drifted toward more the shoreline and sat, floating on his board. I got up and went into the water.
"Hey," He said.
"You're really good," I told him.
"Thanks," He responded. "Come sit up here." He patted the board.
I slowly got on. I faced him. I stared at him.
"Boo!" Someone yelled. I jumped and flipped the surfboard over. Cody and I plummeted into the water.
I looked to see who it was. It was Meredith. "Meredith! What the hell?"
She cracked up laughing.
I swam back to the shore. Cody and Meredith followed.
After that we built sand castles and they turned out really well. It was a ton of fun. We went home around 4:00pm. We just sort of chilled the rest of the day.
